Suddenly, he didn’t feel like a six thousand foot tall fire squid stuffed inside a human suit; he felt like a six foot tall human stuffed inside a human suit. And for that matter, he couldn’t feel the dull warmth of smouldering on the inside anymore. Only bone, and muscle, and other assorted viscera.
Well, then. Judge Gen had done her job, and however she and Janet had managed it, she’d done it very well indeed.
Michael was a living, breathing, blood-pumping, organ-having human.
Goodbye fire squid, hello silver fox.

Michael stopped in at a supermarket on his way home and bought himself a Hungry Man frozen dinner because he was both hungry and a man. Plus, as a demon—well, ex-demon—it seemed appropriate to try some of the worst and most innovative food that the human world had to offer. He also didn’t exactly know how to cook, and this boasted to be ready after just a few minutes in the microwave! Which meant he got to microwave something and not watch its brains slowly explode! What a concept! And it even came with a dessert! What value!
