Chapter Text

Mother’s eyes averted at her scared look, refusing to look upon her. Her uncle and cousin averted eyes too. Mayhaps, they wanted to help her preserve some semblance of respect with her looking so disturbed and out of place? Where was Aelor? She must look a fool. She could feel something like dust or sand covering her features like fool’s paint. Her dress was soaked and so torn leaving no propriety. She noticed her hands were covered in wet pinkish streaks, unsure of when she bleed. She felt no pain but the ache in her chest and the striking pain in her head. Was the blood even her’s? Could it be Aelor’s? Her mother’s? The demon who brought this nightmare upon her? Aelora could not understand anything, but she understood everything. She had done a bad thing, she thinks. A very bad thing. She ruined everything. Where was Aelor?

Mother was speaking and Cousin Jon was listening raptly. He looked more solemn than angry. A contrast between her mother and his father. As Jon left her uncle sighed and mumbled that it was all over. No women will sit the iron throne. Mother cried. What happened to Aelor? Is Aelor fine? We were swimming, she remembers playing with him. Sea water lapping against her as Aelor splashed beneath her. Was Aelor fine she spoke out loud. Daenora who was crying in the corner screamed. An object flew through the air and burst into pieces. Aelora screamed at Daenora to stop and covered Aelor’s head. Found him, she thought with joy.

His pale face was slack in terror. Something wasn't right she could tell but she could not tell what it was. Her head hurt. Aelor's mouth was open as if he was screaming... or struggling to breathe. Aelora tried to move his jaw to fix his face. His face was cold and clammy and stiff. Mother hates when you are dramatic love, she said to him. Instead of responding pinkish tears fell from his eyes. Oh Aelor, don’t cry. I’m right here, it’s just a night terror. Just a night terror. Just a night terror…
