Power in Loving You

Summary:

"I cannot be caged. I cannot be controlled. Understand this as you die, ever pathetic ever fools."

----

A sequel to Trust in Strange Places, following the events of Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. Tisha finds herself captive to Jon Irenicus, and must not only escape, but hunt him down and kill him once and for all. She grapples with the intensifying dark urges of the Bhaalspawn essence in her blood, her burning desire for vengeance against all who oppose her, and an unexpected return of someone she never thought she'd see again.

There will be a lot more romance in this sequel than the first! Dorn will realize he has *gasp!* emotions, and he finally works up the courage to put his heart on the line. Probably not the smartest thing to do, considering the elf he's falling for is seemingly moving on with someone else, and slowly devolving into a rabid spawn of Bhaal. But he's never been the brightest bulb in the box.

Notes:

Disclaimer: This is rated explicit for a reason! There will not only be full-on smut later on, but also some pretty fucked up scenes gore/violence-wise. But I'll be tagging as I go, so please see the tags for content/trigger warnings!

Note: While I would recommend reading Trust in Strange Places, you don't need to have read every bit of it to understand what's going on. At the very least, knowledge of bg2 and the plot is essential.

Chapter 1: Character Summary

Chapter Text

Tisha is an elven mage/thief. Though she aims to do good by those she cares for, the extensive trials and tribulations she's gone through since the death of Gorion has hardened her into a calloused killer, at times lacking the empathy and consideration she once had in abundance. After Irenicus reduced her to a shell of her former self, she emerges from his entombed laboratory underneath the bustling promenade of Athkatla, only to realize that aside from survival, she has little else to live for than rescuing Imoen and killing her torturer. But what she'll find along the way is that there is far more to life than that, far greater ambitions she could achieve, and far greater power in accepting love from the man she least expected to receive it from.

Dorn is a neutral evil half-orc Blackguard—sworn to service of the demon Ur-Gothoz in exchange for unnatural powers, strengths, and abilities. But when his working relationship with the demon begins costing more than he signed up for, he realizes he has a flawed relationship with authority, power, and... himself. Facing these challenges, those of which he's either ignored or failed to recognize for years, may prove to be his downfall, or... the true source of his strength. Power yet lies within his grasp, if he's willing to open his heart and love another in a way he never thought he ever could.
