Anne groaned while trying to open one of her eyes. She struggled to see her bedside clock and cursed when she noticed it was in the middle of the night.
Who in their right mind sent her a chain of messages in this ungodly hour? Didn't they know how to read the time?
Groaning again, Anne pushed her body up using both hands and sat with her back against the headboard while trying to grab her phone under the pillows in the darkness. Once she got it, she narrowed her eyes at the light coming from the screen and unseeingly opened the text.

Upon seeing the content of the text messages, the annoyance at being woken up in the middle of the night immediately evaporated and was replaced by a soft smile. Her fingers started typing.

The dots blinked again for ten minutes straight. Anne thought Gilbert might've dozed off at the bar and was quite worried. She was about to call him and guide him back to his room but then a new message came.
