Chapter Text
Prologue
'I wonder what Dogday want to show me?' Catnap thought to himself as he silently walked along the dirt path leading up to Dogday's house.
Earlier in the day, he was told by Bobby that Dogday wanted to show him something though he didn't say what due to wanting to surprise him. Though she did give him an encouraging smile which made him blush a bit as he realized what she was referring to and pointedly looked away which only made her giggle and soon left.
Once he got to the front door, he barely knocked four times before the door swung open, the cat barely flinching at the sudden movement, revealing to be Dogday whom looked happy to see the purple cat with his tail wagging.
"Catnap!" he excitedly greeted him before letting him into the house and once inside, the purple cat was instantly greeted with the scent of vanilla causing his whole body to relax for only a moment before Dogday snapped him out of it by grabbing his arm and starts leading him.
"Want to show me?" Catnap softly asked him as his tail slightly swaying side-to-side and his ears flickered forward in a curious manner. "Yeah! So I was doing some spring cleaning and while cleaning my basement, I found this really cool mirror and thought about showing it to you first before showing it to the rest of the gang" he explained to him while leading him towards his bedroom, "Once I cleaned it up as best as I could, I moved it to my room" he soon finished before opening the door.
"Wow..." Catnap breathed out in awe as he looked over the mirror.
The mirror itself was body length and appeared to be a mix of Gothic and Victorian style which looked out of place in Dogday's bedroom. The strangest thing about the mirror was the glass reflection of it, it was tinted and didn't show any reflection.
"You see it too? For some reason, the glass doesn't reflect" Dogday commented it as they stood in front of the mirror while Catnap reached out to lightly knock on the surface, still curious. Though the purple cat was surprised when he felt the soft warmth seeping from the mirror instead of the coldness which caused him to move his paw to the frame of the mirror, feeling the same warmth.
Catnap soon looked back to Dogday, whom simply shrugs, "Maybe Bubba might know" he simply stated before leading the purple cat out, "Come on, its almost lunch time, I'll cook your favorite" Dogday soon offered with a smile which caused Catnap to purr happily while following the dog.
Xxxxx
Once lunch time had passed, Catnap decided to take a small nap on the couch with his head resting on Dogday's lap, whom was playing a video game, with the volume low of course.
It was close to evening as the sun was starting to set when Catnap woke up from his nap with the fur on his nape standing up for some reason before realizing two things.
First, he was the only one on the couch and due to the faint scent of vanilla, Dogday has been gone for a bit.
Second, his pendant was heating up while letting out a soft glow.
"....Dogday....?" Catnap slowly called out as he sat up to look around. The TV in front of him was still on with the video game was paused and at first he assumed that Dogday simply went to get a small snack but he pushed that thought down and soon got off of the couch.
Looking out the window, he saw that the sun was setting but wanted to at least find the orange dog before leaving. He search through the more obvious rooms to no success before making his way to Dogday's bedroom and every step he takes, the pendent heats up a bit more to the point of being painful but he ignored it as he finally reached the door, seeing it slightly opened.
"....Dogday....?" he called out as he placed his paw on the door and swung it open.
His tail sway a bit when he found the orange dog....though he was strangely quiet and seemingly standing in front of the mirror, facing away. Ears flickering backwards, Catnap stepped inside and walked towards Dogday while reaching out.
Gripping his shoulder, Catnap gently turned Dogday around to face him only for his fur to stand up in shock, surprise and a bit of fear.
Dogday's expression was completely blank with his mouth slightly open and his pupils were shrunken down to tiny dots.
The blank expression looked completely out of place that caused a small whine to seep out of Catnap as he started to shake him as well as lightly patting his cheeks in an attempt to snap him out of it. "D-Dogday..." Catnap whines out as he tried out almost anything to snap the other out of whatever trance he was on only to let out a confused mewl when his wrists were grabbed and glance at them to see that it was Dogday before glancing back up to his face, his ears lowering a bit not seeing it change.
"Dogday..." he called out once again in one last attempt before wincing a bit as he suddenly felt a slight pain due to Dogday's claws digging into his wrists.
But before he could say anything else, Catnap was suddenly pulled forward, causing a yelp to slip out while at the same time, Dogday was yanked backwards from what the purple feline could see. Suddenly his hearing became muffled like he was underwater which made him instinctively close his eyes while gripping onto Dogday's paws for a few seconds before opening his eyes.
He only glanced around his surroundings for a few seconds before looking back to Dogday, keeping his attention on him due to the surroundings giving him nausea because of the fast moving colors.
"Mm!?" Catnap quickly looked down at their paws to see Dogday letting go of his wrists which caused the purple feline to tighten his grip in at attempt to hold on. His heart started beating faster as he saw the orange canine closing his eyes like he was falling asleep. "D-Dogday! W-Wake up" Catnap started crying out, ignoring the slight burning sensation in his throat due to how loud he's getting.
Despite his best efforts, Catnap soon felt Dogday slip out of his grip, causing him to instantly panic and tried to reach out to the other.
"DOGDAY!"
Soon he blacked out.
