Chapter Text
“Thank you, Link… The hero of Hyrule.”
Zelda had appeared as a golden light at the final battle, she had sealed Calamity Ganon away with another beam of golden light, and Link could have sworn he saw that golden light again when Zelda looked at him and smiled.
Her long blonde hair flowing in the wind, that cursed white dress she had worn for the goddesses, that sheepish smile. It’s Princess Zelda. She’s standing right there, in front of the Hero of Hyrule, after all these years. Link's mouth opens a bit, him not being able to stop his jaw from dropping because of how insane the whole situation is.
“May I ask…” Zelda says, tilting her head to the side as she surveys Link’s face with a curious expression. “Do you really remember me?” she asks, smiling again.
Link just keeps staring at her green eyes for what feels like an eternity before snapping out of it, realising that he should probably respond.
“Princess,-” Link starts, not sure what he’s going to tell her seeing as he does remember her, but only the free moments that the Sheikah Slate had captured, before he sees the expression on Zelda’s face change. Her soft smile swiftly disappears, before her eyes droop closed and her head starts to roll back. Despite how out of it he is, Link manages to catch what’s about to happen before Zelda hurts herself. He leaps forwards and catches the fainting princess in his arms as she collapses, completely unconscious.
