Summary
It’s been 50 years after the upheaval, and defeat of Ganondorf. Hyrule is changing, both technologically and socially at the turn of the century. Even going as far as to de-extinct the Kokiri. That being said, both the calamity and Upheaval left many of the denominations of Hyrule strained… independence sentiments started to brew, many felt that their nations should not answer to Hyrule anymore... civil war was slowly ticking. It would all come to a front, when Lady Makeela Riju of the Gerudo, would pass away under suspicious circumstances at age 68. Leaving her extremist daughter, Nebora, to take the throne, and crown herself; Vaiführen (woman leader) of Gerudo Valley. This is a consequential timeline in chronological order leading up to this point.

(Breath of the Wild) Link has had a lot of women interested in him. Mipha. Paya. Countless girls from villages and stables he’d pass by. Hylia, maybe even Princess Zelda. He’d help them. He’d share his courage. He’d make their friends. And yet, he was never interested in anything more than a friendship. And then some weird guy with a rabbit hood strolls in while Link is taking a much-needed break and disrupts a lot of things Link assumed about himself. Well, he's adaptable to change.

No. There was a sharpness to his eyes. This was not the dull face of a knight come to save the princess out of duty to his kingdom. That man would know better than to hold his head up, eyes burning into hers. That man would kneel before her and not truly see her…
Link nodded.
He remembered her.
Link and Zelda have witnessed the end of the world as they knew it, and must now carve out a new existence in a Hyrule that has moved on without them. Despite the castle in ruins, the rigid structures imposed on them since birth linger. Are they truly free to make their own choices now? To follow their hearts, in place of destiny?

The last thing Link remembered: he went to bed an ordinary 6-year-old in his family home in Castle Town.
He woke up a 6-year-old in a world 112 years older than him, where the Calamity had already hit and then recently been defeated... by himself? He didn't know what happened, or how, or why. Luckily, he had eight heroes with weird nicknames on his side, there to help him figure out and fix whatever was going on, one age at a time—and gradually heal his childhood wounds in the process.
Or: my take on the kid!Wild and Wild-meets-the-Chain tropes, with a bit of a twist in that he is mentally a child as well—memories included.

He had a job to do.
or: Zelda was unable to survive her years holding back Ganon. Link is burdened with Zelda's powers and the responsibility of finishing what she could not, all the while trying to recover from both his grief and his trauma. He's in for a rough ride, but Link is nothing if not persistent.

“Look. I don’t recognize her, Impa.” He palms his hair back in frustration, there’s irritation in his voice and Zelda’s body enters fight-or-flight at the hostility she didn’t know she couldn’t take from him. Her feet stood frozen on that flight of stairs, horrified one of them would notice her from their peripheral.
“Look at her,” he pleads, desperation in his voice.
“Goddesses, she doesn’t even know who I am.” He’s grasping for straws, hands clenched and itching to reach for the sword at his side like a lifeline. “It’s maddening,” he sobs.
And it’s horrible to see. She had spent the past four months thinking they were doing good—great even! Wishing—hoping—they could at least be friends. One step back. Zelda was sick. Another retreating step further up. She was going to gag. She beelines up that flight of stairs.
She thought they could still go back to what was. Clearly, she wasn’t getting that now.
So she does that thing she’s always been good at.
Run away.

Summary change bc this book wasn't meant to be more than a one shot or a forgotten work but I have fifteen chapters written, so ... Oops?
Link returns to Zora's domain after The Awakening. Zelda is gone, disappeared into the dark abyss, and there is a monster that once again, looms over Hyrule, and creates a shadow in Link's soul.
There's a new guest in the domain, and Link is shattered to find out that his lover is entwined in a political engagement to a neighboring kingdom's princess.
Yona was not expecting to see her ... Fiancé's lover. She had managed to forget about that in the same breath that she forgets about her engagement. She misses her girlfriend. She remembers the late nights and the heat of two bodies pressed together, and feels sick knowing that that will be expected of her and Sidon soon.
Sidon feels torn, he wants to do his duty to his kingdom and bring two communities together, but his heart is drawn to the Hero of Hyrule instead. The inhabitants of Zora's Domain are not the most open minded, and what good is a gay king? No heirs, no love.
And Zelda sobs in the sky, wailing into the depths, their mind gone, but the woman in their heart remaining.
