Sunhats and Flowers

Summary:

Legosi goes to the gardening club to ask about flowers, and has a realization?

Chapter Text

The dorms of Cherryton High were never particularly comfortable, least of all when one's legs are definitely at least half a foot too long for the frames.

Legoshi groaned as Jack pulled open the curtain, allowing sunlight to enter his bed.

"Good morning 'Goshi! The cafeteria opens soon, so if we don't hurry we'll get caught in the line!" He said, his voice teeming with energy.

Rolling out of bed and grabbing his toothbrush, Legoshi muttered in response." Morning Jack... what day is it?"

"Tuesday!" He chirped " and they've got eggs, so if you hurry up we could grab some!"

Quickly throwing on his uniform, Legoshi rushed towards the door, his tail a flurry of grey. "lets go now!" He began pulling on Jack's wrist.

"Hold on man, you forgot something!" Jack grabs onto Legoshi by the suspenders and pulls him close, buttoning his shirt closed and flattening out his wrinkled clothes.

"Honestly Legoshi, you'd think this'd be routine by now!" He giggled and led the embarrassed wolf out of the dorm towards the cafeteria.

Legoshi didn't think acquiring materials for the performance should be his job, or really any of the tech crew's, but he'd been asked by Dom and he'd never been very good at saying no...

He honestly didnt know they had a gardening club, it'd never come up in conversation.

The stairs to the club were steep, and the door was already open, swaying with the breeze flowing across the rooftop.

A small voice sounded out, clearly irritated. "if you're here to bother me about your boyfriend then you should know he-" Legoshi nervously stepped out onto the rooftop, wringing his hands.

"Oh, hey there! Thought you were someone else for a moment!" The animal Legoshi now knew was a rabbit flushed a bit, greeting him with a smile.

"Oh, uh, it's...fine. I'm here for the drama club?" He held out the list of materials Dom had given him.

She skimmed the list, and Legoshi couldn't quite manage to take his eyes off her... "I never did ask your name?"

"Oh, my name is L-Legoshi" he stammered and looked away, having been caught in the act.

"Nice to meet you Legoshi, I'm Haru! Now, I can probably provide all the flowers you need, but not for free... How about you help me move some stuff around? I can do it myself, but I'm just one rabbit..." The rabbit questioned.

"I-I suppose I could, just tell me what to do." Legoshi averted his gaze, taking the list back from her and shoving it in his pocket.

"Will do! Just a sec..." the rabbit walked into the garden and returned holding two aprons and sun hats. "One of the members who graduated left these, and she was almost the same size as you, so they should fit pretty well, and keep that sun off your neck." Haru grinned, holding the hat and apron up to him.

Legoshi... Hadn't really ever worn something this feminine before? But, he needed the flowers... And he supposed it was quite cute...

Haru tied the apron on and walked over to the pots.

"There! that should keep most of the dirt out of that pretty fur of yours." The rabbit joked, leaving Legoshi

"And here's the hat! I'd put it on for you, but I can't quite reach your head." She passed him the large sunhat, walking off towards the flowerbeds. Legoshi quickly followed feeling oddly... Excited about the outfit? He wasn't sure what exactly this feeling was, but he didn't have time to think about it, Haru rushed him over.

Legoshi was thinking driftingly about his time in the garden... when a sudden sharp pain appeared in his side.

"Dude, earth to Legosi!" Kai whispered. "Louis's getting ready for the next scene, you gotta focus! You can daydream about howling at the moon later!" The wolf sprung up off of the floor of the cat walk, aligning himself with the fixture. Louis strode onto the stage, projecting confidence.

"Scene two, places, everyone!" All of the actors rushed onto the stage taking they're places simultaneously.

"Lights!" Legoshi and Kai turned on the lighting fixtures, setting the scene.

"ACTION!" Louis shouted, and actors flooded the stage. The wolf took the chance to relax as the lights were stationary.

"Sooo... What were you daydreaming about?~" Kai asked, also using the moment as a brief respite.

"It's... complicated. Have you ever felt like... You try something new, and suddenly everything you were used to before was wrong? Not like bad but, just not meant for you?" The wolf stared at the actors, letting his thoughts flow unimpeded.

"Uh, no dude. That sounds pretty heavy, you um... you should probably talk to someone about that..." The mongooses usually brash demeanour slips, leading way for concern.

"Yeah..." The wolf stared further into space, letting his mind wander.

The eggs were good today, Legoshi decided. The old pool smell didn't help the flavor though. Jack didn't seem to mind all that much.

"So is it a good egg day, or a bad egg day 'Goshi?" The dog questioned.

"Good egg." Legoshi mumbled through a mouthful of egg sandwich swallowing and looking over at Jack. "Hey, I can talk to you about anything right?" The wolf said, suddenly solemn.

"Well I should hope so, we've known each other our whole lives silly!" The lab giggled softly.

"Okay, I just have something serious I want to talk to you about, and I'm honestly kinda freaked out..." The wolf took a deep breath, steadying himself.

"Hey, when I said you could talk with me about anything, I meant it." Jack placed his hand on Legoshi's shoulder

"O-okay.. so, I recently had to go up to the gardening club to get some flowers for the drama club. Something about decorating for the show? And when I got there there was only one member, a small female rabbit. I told her what I needed, and she asked for labor in return for the flowers, which I agreed to cuz' I thought it was only fair. Then she brought out this cute apron and sunhat." The wolf blushes, putting his face in his hands.

"H-Honestly the apron was almost a s-sundress... Anyway, I put on the stuff, and it felt really girly, but that felt... Right? Then suddenly I realized how much I hated men's clothes, and i k-kinda hated me the same way! I just, I just don't know what to do!" The wolf broke into tears.

"Am I broken? How do I go back to before this, it was fine before! Now it hurts!" Shaking sobs wracked Legoshi's body.

Jack embraced the wolf "Hey, you're not broken! Don't ever say that!" The wolf cried into his shoulder for a long while, letting all of the emotions play out.

A long moment of silence passed between them, Legoshi slowly regaining his breath and drying his eyes.

"Legoshi, do you know what a transgender person is?" Jack asked gently, nudging the wolf to answer.

They shake their head no.

"A transgender person is someone who feels like a different gender than the one they were assigned. Do you know what that means?" Legoshi nods, tears clearing from their eyes.

"I-i can't say for sure but... I'll always be your friend, okay? If-if that means you're a girl, or nonbinary, or anything else, I don't care." He stands up, helping Legoshi stand and walking with them back to the dorm.

"You should probably talk to a professional about all this, but I'm here, okay? Always." Jack states resolutely as they walk.

Chapter Text

The boys of room 701 gathered in a circle in the center of the dorm room, Miguno had called a meeting, and the rest of them could tell it was serious, wearing solemn expressions on their faces.

Miguno spoke up "Legosi has always been sulky but he's been very distant lately, and I think I've heard him crying at least twice this week. Something's up." The other five nodded along. "So, we need to support each other, as roommates, does anyone have any idea what's happened?"

Jack spoke up averting his gaze from the hyena "I-Im sure if sh- If he wanted us to know he'd tell us, so maybe we should just leave h-him be?"

The hyena looked Jack up and down with scrutiny "... You know don't you? You know and you won't tell us?"

Jack met his gaze"M-maybe, but it's... It's personal! If Legosi wanted you to know she'd tell you herself!"

The dog slapped both of his hands onto his snout and began to hyperventilate

"D-DAMN-IT!" A low whine escaped him "You d-didnt hear anything ok?! Shit!" He suddenly stood up and ran out the door, his tail curled tight between his legs.

"W-Wait! Jack!" Miguno stood quickly and raced to the door, but the dog had already gotten out of sight. He sighed heavily.

Voss muttered "What was that about?" Looking around the room, meeting everyone's gaze from atop Collot's shoulders. "None of you know either, huh?" They all slumped slightly.

Haru was basking in the sun, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the garden while Legosi tended the flowers.

"Y'know, ever since you've been helping me I've been so much less stressed. You ever think of just joining the club?"

The wolf snapped out of the rhythm they'd worked themselves into "O-Oh I'd love to, but... If I left the drama club I think Louis would skewer me with his horns." Legosi pointed at the space above their head.

"Oh yeah! I forgot he ran that club!" She held a finger to her chin in contemplation. "Y'know i could talk to him if you want, just make it all easier?" The rabbit gave them an expectant look.

"If you want to, I guess I wouldn't mind... Just don't make him to mad please? I really enjoy my organs un-skewered." The wolf giggled.

"I'll visit him soo-" The door to the gardening club burst open, revealing a very exhausted and panicked labrador with tears in the corners of his eyes.

"I'm so s-sorry!" He fell to his knees as Legosi jogged over. "I... I accidentally let it slip to the boys, I'm such an idiot!" He clutched his head as the wolf pulled him to his feet.

"Hey, none of that! You tried to keep it a secret okay? That's what matters. I've been doing some thinking, and Jack... I think you were right." The newly realized she-wolf pulled her best friend into a deep embrace, letting him dry his tears on the lightly dirty apron she was wearing, holding him there in her arms.

"Hey, uh... Should I go or...?" Haru asked, slightly uncomfortably, looking between the canines and the entrance to the rooftop

"No, I uh, have something I've been wanting to tell you." The wolf released Jack, and walked over to Haru, crouching down to meet her eye to eye. "Haru, I'm a transgender woman." The nervousness was clear on her face as she expressed her identity for the first time.

"O-Oh, uh... Okay!" Haru gave her an easygoing smile. "So.. you want to be, like, called she and her and all that right?" The wolf nodded "I can totally do that! Just don't be afraid to correct me okay? Also, if you need any advice on girl stuff or whatever, just let me know." Tears were forming in Legosi's eyes as Haru spoke.

"Really? You mean it?" She pulled Haru into a hug, holding her lightly.

"Wow, she really gets touchy, huh?" Haru joked looking at Jack over the she-wolfs shoulder.

"Y-yeah, I suppose she does..." The dog dried his eyes, walking over as Legosi stood. "So, what now?"

"Now," a nervous yet resolute look sprouted in her eyes. "I tell the boys"

Notes:

This chapter ended up a bit shorter than the first, but I felt like the next few scenes needed to be in an episode of their own. Criticism is welcome, and sorry if the formatting is weird, I'm on mobile.

Chapter Text

After Jack's outburst and general emotional distress, Collot decided it would be best if they pre-emptively made a pillow fort for him and Legosi to come home to.

"Should the big pillows go on bottom, or do you think they'll make a better roof?" The sheepdog asked Voss, who had just been on his phone due to his lack of size and ability to reach high places.

"Bottom, you gotta get the cushioning, especially with how boney Legosi's gotten these last few months." Voss replied in a thoughtful monotone " Just keep those red fuzzy ones outta there, the texture weirds me out" the fox scrunched his face briefly at the thought before returning his attention to his device.

"Yeah..." Collot suddenly sprung up from his work "Migs, you should play some of your guitar stuff, I bet that'll be nice and relaxing!" His large mop-like tail began to sway lightly

"I could, But I only know stuff from games and movies... Any ideas?" He looked around the room.

Durham raised a hand "Um, maybe something from Zoolda, it always relaxes me when you play those songs..." A light blush crept across his face as he looked away.

"Good idea! Lemme grab my guitar real quick." Miguno remained clueless, walking towards the closet to grab his guitar as the door to the dorm suddenly crept open

Legoshi peeked her head though the door, giving them all a light wave "Hey there, um, there's something I kinda need to talk to you all about..."

All four of the canines ran across the room, wrapping Legosi, and Jack behind him, in a tight embrace.

"Cuddle first, talk later!" Collot pulled the group over to their pillow fortress and flopped down inside.

A light sigh escaped Legosi's lips as she threw her schoolbag into her bed. "y'know, you guys are the best roommates I could ask for." They all settled, snuggling in close and allowing their tensions to ease in one another's presence.

"So, what did you need to tell us, now that we've all relaxed a bit?" Voss asked, laying atop Miguno's stomach.

"Oh... One sec!" Legosi hopped up out of the fort and stumbled over to her back pack, unzipping it and pulling out the apron and sunhat. "Two things technically" the canines(and Miguno, who's technically not a canine) all watched and listened with close attention from their cuddle pile.

Legosi began pacing back and forth "One, I am leaving the drama club and joining the gardening club, just as soon as Haru can convince Louis."

A small hand rose up "Yes, Voss?"

"Who's Haru?" The monotone voice of the fox filtering through the mass of comfort.

"Oh, I forgot none of you knew her! Haru is a female dwarf rabbit, and the leader and formerly the sole member of the Cherryton Gardening Club. Further questions?" Legosi jokingly leaned over them, as if to intimidate a question out of them.

"Now" Legosi grew somber, clearing her throat "The serious bit." The atmosphere of the room tensed and thickened instantly. "I have recently discovered, through personal experience and with help of room 701's very own mother hen" she gestures to Jack, who giggles lightly "That I am a transgender woman, so..." She turns to them and shakes a light jazz hands "It's a girl!"

They all rush to embrace her, Voss riding on Collot's fluffy head "So, do you want us to call you a different name or?"

Legosi rubs the back of her neck "I, actually haven't decided yet... Need a bit more time to think on that."

"One more question" Miguno pipes up "are you comfortable sleeping in the same room as a bunch of boys, Ms.Legosi? If you aren't we would understand."

Legosi had a shocked look on her face "of course I'm comfortable with you guys, you're like family to me!" Legosi's face paled with sudden realization.

"Goshi, what's wrong?" Jack's caring voice asked.

"I just haven't come out to my actual family yet, and I don't know how they'll take it, especially considering how little I call nowadays..."

"Hey, I'm sure they'll just be glad to see you or even just hear you over the phone, you just gotta take that first step, and the rest comes along" Miguno said, causing the others to look at him strangely.

"What? I had to come out to my parents as gay a few years ago, I didn't call for months just because I was afraid." Miguno held Legosi's hands " the fear is the hardest part. I believe in you." Legosi began to tear up, sniffling lightly.

Voss broke out in a monotone "That's just about enough of the sappy stuff. Collot?" The sheepdog nodded and picked Legosi Jack and Miguno up in one large hug, carrying them to the fort.

"How come I don't get carried?" Durham pouted, feeling left out.

"Because I can only move one person at a time" Voss grabbed Durham's leg, knocking him over, and began dragging him across the floor.

Collot had a worried look on his face " I think he's unconscious..."

Chapter Text

Legosi smiled as she crouched down, studying the freshly blooming flower garden as the pink clusters of geranium flowers swayed lightly in the breeze.

"What'cha lookin' at over there?" Haru wandered over, holding a watering pail in her small hands.

"Oh, I just noticed these flowers started blooming today, they're very beautiful!" The wolf continued her her observation as Haru reached over to the bush and plucked a cluster of flowers, placing it into Legosi's hair.

"Well that makes two of you then!" Haru giggled, leading the flushed canine towards the shed by her wrist. "Now, c'mon, it's time to wrap up, and I could use a snack and a shower."

"Hey, remind me to check how ripe my fruit is next time." Haru stuck her tongue out, holding her head over the container of slightly pale pineapple chunks. "Now my tongue hurts..." Legosi giggled lightly, her tail swaying.

"Um, W-would you wanna go shopping with me? For g-girl stuff?" Legosi stammered, averting her gaze.

"Heck yeah I would! I've been wanting to get you in a dress for ages now! And you don't have to be so nervous y'know, we're all girls here." She gestures around the room, taking a sip of her water. "I'm gonna need at least an hour to shower, so... Let's meet up at six, in front of the water fountain!"

"O-Okay!" A smile spread across her face and her tail began wagging, sending a cloud of dust into the air.

"Hey, my crappy pineapple!" Haru held her hands over the container.

"Haru! That dress is amazing!" Legosi gushed as Haru walked up to the fountain, wearing a textured white sundress.

"Thanks! I got it on sale last month, and it's only got a few dirt stains!" She giggled. "Now, where are we going?"

"Oh, I uh, hoped you'd know some places? I... Don't leave campus that often..." The wolf rubbed her neck.

"Hmm..." A thoughtful look crossed her face. "Theres a good shop across town, but we'd have to take the train. Would that be alright? I know you don't like crowds." Haru gave her a look of concern.

"Y-yeah Ill probably be fine. Lead the way?" She gestures towards the exit of the school.

"Sure, just walk slow. I've got little legs."

"Goshi, come look at this one!" Haru shouted across the store getting Legosi's, and everyone else's attention. "It's in your size!"

Legosi speed walked through the clothing store as fast as her lupine legs could carry her, her hands full of clothes she had planned on buying. Her cheek fluff was slightly frazzled and her face was red with second hand embarrassment. "Haru, everyone *pant* heard you! How can you be that *pant * confident, to yell over a *pant* whole store like that..." Legosi wheezed slightly as the speed walking caught up to her.

"It comes with being a small herbivore! If you want to be heard over everybody else, you've gotta get a little loud sometimes." Haru gave the wolf a worried look "Are you alright? That took a lot out of you..."

"I'm- I'm alright, Haru... I don't exercise much because I don't want to look muscle-y or..." she winced "manly... I think I also might have forgotten to drink water this morning..." Legosi slowly regained her breath, standing up slowly to avoid falling over from the dizziness.

"How many times do I have to tell you to take care of yourself..." Haru sighed heavily, unzipping her purse and pulling out a small water bottle.
"I always keep one in my purse, just in case, luckily for you. Did you even eat anything?" Legosi took the water bottle from her hands, drinking half of it at once.

"N-no, I usually don't even eat breakfast unless my roommates are, and even then I usually just eat some eggs if they have them..." Haru gave her another worried look, zipping her purse back up.

"No wonder you're so skinny if you never eat... We're gonna grab some lunch after this, my treat. You can't help me with the garden if you're flying away in the wind, now can you?" Haru joked, trying to lighten the conversation.

"N-no I guess not." Legosi tried to smile as she turned to the shelves Haru was looking at.

"Two fruit salads please!" Haru cheerfully placed their order as Legosi stood hunched behind her, nervously fiddling with her hands.

"That'll be 14.99, and is that all you'll be ordering today?" The goat behind the counter asked in a saccharine customer service voice

"Thank you, and yes it will!" Haru gave the goat a smile as she led Legosi back to their booth by the wrist.

"Th-thanks..." Legosi stuttered over her shoulder at the goat, who replied with a distrusting stare.

As they reached the booth, had leaned close to Haru and whispered "are you sure Its okay if I eat here? A lot of these people keep giving me dirty looks..." Legosi nervously looked around, being greeted with scrutinous looks by a few of the patrons of the restaurant.

"Of course you can! There aren't any herbivore only signs, and I come here all the time! It's one of my favorite lunch places."

Haru pats Legosi's arm "These people are just a bunch of specie-ist assholes, if you wanna leave now, we can. But leaving now would just tell them we can be scared and intimidated by them, and then they'll bully more people, so I think we should stay."

Legosi gulped down her fear "O-Okay ha-haru, if you're s-sure, I guess we c-can stay..." Legosi stammered, still nervously fiddling.

An employee walked over and placed their food on the table. "Two fruit bowls, 14.99 please." Haru reached into her purse and payed for the food, watching the waiter walk away and put it into the register.

Haru pried the lid off of her fruit bowl "Aha! Finally some good pineapple!" She took her fork and began eating fruit voraciously.

Legosi gently picked up her fork and began picking through her fruit salad dis-interestedly, taking small bites every now and then.

"What d'you think?" Haru spoke around a mouthful of cantaloupe.

"It's good, but I'm... uh... Not hungry right now..." Legosi put her fork down lightly. "I think I'll just save the rest and eat it later..." The wolf's stomach growled slightly, betraying her words.

Haru frowned "I heard that, and I can tell you're hungry... You have to eat Legosi, I won't have you starving yourself!" Haru was slowly becoming more and more worried for the wolf's health.

"I-Im fine Haru, It's just... I'm just not hungry right now, okay? I promise I'll eat it later." The wolf had a guilty look on her face, as if she had been caught doing something she wasn't supposed to.

"You'd better, for your own sake..." Haru hadn't realized just how thin the wolf had become until today, and she was very worried...

Later that night Legosi walked into the dorm setting down her bags of clothes, Jack was the only one awake because he was studying.

"Hey Jack, I got you something" Legosi whispered as to not wake the others.

"What is it?" Jack whispered back, tiredness clear on his voice.

Legosi handed him an almost completely full fruit salad "Here, it might be a bit warm because I got it a few hours ago."

Jack smiled at her "Thanks Lego, you're so thoughtful." Jack began eating the salad as Legosi got into bed, her stomach growling quietly and hurting slightly.

"I'm sorry Haru..." She spoke under her breath, feeling guilty for her actions as she fell asleep.

Notes:

This chapter is a bit more emotional than I first intended, but I think it turned out pretty good! I also went and added some tags. I've been writing Voss as autistic, and kinda Legosi as well? I didn't do it on purpose with Legosi, I think I just kinda projected on her a bit lol

Chapter Text

The sun reflected brightly of of the smooth floor of the dorm room."Mnh... *Yawn* What time is it" Legosi mumbled, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

Jack held open the curtain to her bed, his smile beaming down at her "Six thirty! You got back pretty late last night so I thought I'd let you sleep in a bit! I already had some breakfast, but if you wanna grab something they should still have something in the cafeteria."

Legosi slowly climbed out of her small bed, her back popping as she reached her hands up and touched the ceiling. "I'm good for now, I'll just... Grab something from a vending machine later." She walked around the room gathering her uniform and dressed, reaching into the still bagged up clothes from yesterday's shopping trip and pulling out a small pack of clip on earrings, putting a few on her ears as she walked over to the door.

Jack opened the door and held it for her, putting on a posh accent "It's only polite for a man such as myself to hold open a door for such a distinguished young lady like yourself, isn't it?" She giggled, savoring the rush of euphoria from his compliment.

She walked through the door, turning to face him. "Walk with me to classes?"

Jack smiled wider, his tail wagging contentedly "Sure!"

Legosi sat reading a book at a lunch table with her dorm mates, everyone but her and Jack eating.

Legosi looked up from her book "So, I've been thinking... I think I'm gonna call Grandpa tonight and tell him, about me." Legosi's expression grew serious, nervousness clear on her sharp features "nobody but me and Jack can be in the room, okay? I know we're a pack, and I trust you guys, but this is... Pretty serious stuff for me."

Voss spoke up from his place on Jack's very full backpack "We trust you Legosi, if you want us to be out of the room for this you only need to ask us, right guys?" Voss looked around the table, getting nods of agreeance from the rest of the group as they looked up from their food.

"Th-That really means a lot to me, thank you guys..." Legosi returned to her book, even the sight of their food make her just a little uneasy.

"Hey 'Goshi, why aren't you eating lunch today? I saw they had eggs and thought you'd jump right on that." Jack asked lightly, trying to strike up conversation.

"O-Oh, Uh... I don't really feel well today? I think it might be the nerves, I haven't talked to Grandpa in years, y'know?" Legosi looked back down at her book, avoiding eye contact.

"Yeah, I guess that's understandable... I really like the earrings by the way, they really compliment your big fluffy ears!" Jack pointed up at her clip on earrings, smiling as he notices her tail begin to wag slightly back and forth.

Her face bloomed slightly red at the compliment, as she was not used to getting positive attention."Y-you really think so? Haru helped me pick them out, they were on sale!" Legosi seemed to become energized as she brought up Haru, which gave Jack a suspicious feeling...

Jack squinted slightly and met her gaze giving her a devious smirk " You have a cru-ush~" Legosi jumped slightly, a blush creeping across her face

"N-no way! I, I don't know what you're talking about about!"

Jack stood up from the table, dancing around Legosi in half circles as he swung his hips and sang "Ooh! My tail is swingin'! Maybe I'm in love? Le-le-legosi! Le-le-lego-" he abruptly stops singing as a fit of giggles overtakes him and the rest of the group, walking back and sitting down again. "I'm happy for you 'Goshi! Although I wouldn't have thought a rabbit..." Jack looked as though slightly perplexed.

"Sh-she probably doesn't even like me anyway...." Legosi sighed, her statement sombering the mood of the group.

Voss chimed in as Legosi stared wistfully into space "Why not?"

"W-well, I don't even know if she like girls, let alone large breed carnivore girls... And I don't know if she would be into a trans girl, even then! And even if she was, I still look like a guy, and I don't want her to think of me as a guy if, against all odds, we are compatible!" Legosi slowly grew more frustrated as she spoke, tears welling up in her eyes when she had finished her explanation.

Miguno jumped up out of his seat, reaching her at the same time the rest of the pack did for a group hug. "Hey, look at me" he looked deep into her tear filled eyes "if you are a girl, then you look like a girl, okay? You don't look like a guy, because you aren't one." He spoke resolutely.

Durham chimed in "And I'm sure if you asked her about her sexuality it wouldn't make her run away from you okay? You two are pretty close."

Legosi nodded, sniffling as she wiped tears from her eyes."Y-you guys really are the best, you know that?"

Voss looked his head out from the pile of fluff "No, we're really not, you just deserve basic animal decency and friendship from everyone" and popped back down into the impromptu cuddle pile.

Notes:

This one is short and sweet but necessary. I feel like the call with Gosha really deserves it's own chapter, y'know? Also, this one is coming out one day after the last because I hyperfixated on writing and stayed up late writing it lol. Criticism is welcome BTW!

Chapter Text

Legosi held the phone in her shaking hands, breathing deeply. Jack rubbed her shoulder with a hand, calming her down.

"It's Gosha, He might be old, but I've never met a kinder man in my life! I'm sure he'll take it well." Jack gave her a reassuring smile.

"I kn-know, but it's... Hard y'know? We already have such a messed up f-family, me being trans is just... adding fuel to the fire, and I don't want to stress him out anymore than I need to..." She inhaled deeply, steeling her resolve as she began typing in her grandfather's number.

*Ring...ring...ri-clk*

A calm, slightly raspy voice came through the phone, stirring nostalgia and memories for Legosi "Hello, This is Gosha speaking" Legosi jumped the phone up to her face, holding it close to her mouth.

"H-hey Gra-Grandpa! How are you?" Legoshi stammered slightly, trying her best to remain calm.

The sound of the voice made it clear he was smiling "Ah Legosi! I've been well! I've actually been trying to work a little less on account of my back, and I took up crochet! I've made some sweaters for you and Jack, if you want them." Legosi's nerves relaxed and a smile spread across her face.

"Wow, that's awesome Grandpa! I'm happy you're taking it easy, I know how hard working construction is on you... *She clears her throat* I...have something important I need to tell you..."

Gosha's voice grew concerned "what is it? Did something happen? Are you okay?" Legosi could almost see his worried face in her mind already.

"No, i'm- I'm okay grandpa, Its just... Its something I need to tell you in person, if that's okay?"

"Of course! I'll call in sick tommorow, and you can come over. I'll make dinner!" Gosha's gladness to provide for his family suddenly shown through his worry.

"O-Okay, tommorow then. I'm, uh, probably bringing Jack, if that's alright with you?"

Gosha responded immediately "Of course! You two are like brothers, I wouldn't separate you!" Legosi winces at the wording, feeling a pang of dysphoria shoot through her chest.

"Y-yeah, something like that grandpa... I'll, uh.... See you then."

"Okay! Bye Legosi!" *Click*

Legosi stared unmovingly at the phone for a moment, taking a deep breath and sighing.

Jack tapped her shoulder "Are you alright? That was... A lot" Legosi slid her phone into her pocket, standing from the bed.

"Yeah, I'm fine... Let's go get the boys before Haru murders them, or vice versa" Legosi and Jack walked out of the dorm room towards the gardening club.

"What are you doing?" Legosi asked as she stared bewildered at the stack of animals before her. Voss was on Haru's shoulders, who was on Miguno's shoulders, who was on Collot's shoulders.

"We're tall now!" Haru shouted from her vantage point, holding Voss's tiny legs.

"I can see the whole campus" Voss looked legoshi in the eye from his throne atop the world.

Collot gritted his teeth, flicking his sweat soaked hair off of his brow. " You guys are much heavier than you think..." Collot's legs shook and twitched with exertion.

"What are you up to, Durham?" Jack turned to look at him, seeing him in a sunhat and apron, watering plants.

Durham smiled "I was helping with the garden! Haru's been shouting commands from up there"

"Well that's normal, at least..."

"Take off the apron!" Haru shouted from the sky. Durham did so, revealing he hadn't been wearing anything but underwear beneath it.

Jack pinched his brow "What am I going to do with you lot..."

Voss shouted down "Do you think you could catch me? I'm kinda stuck up here." Jack sighed walking over.

"Sure" Jack held out his hands, catching the fox

"Haru, do you have any small aprons? I want to join Durham in helping"

Jack spoke loudly "Clothes stay on, okay?! And go put yours on too, you creep!" He pointed at Durham.

"Hey man, I only took em' off cuz Haru told me to!" He pointed at her

"Haru, WHY?!" Jack was growing more and more flustered.

She shrugged, a devious look crossing her face "I'm a woman of taste, and who wouldn't want scantily dressed people tending their garden? Wouldn't you agree, Legosi?"

The wolf fiddled with her hands, stuttering "u-um... maybe if they weren't my roommates?" Jack slapped his hands over his eyes

"What has the world come to..."

Chapter Text

Legosi buttoned the waist of her ankle length skirt, throwing on a cardigan. "Y'know, you would think this would make me less nervous c-considering how much I've done it in the last few weeks..." Legoshi joked, lacing her shoes.

"Hey, it's a pretty nerve-wracking experience! I can't imagine having to go through it ... What, four times now?" Jack responded, buttoning his button up dress shirt.

"I... I think four, yeah. It was you, then Haru, the boys, and now Grandpa." She clipped on some earrings and grabbed her purse "Ready, Jack?"

"Yep!" He popped up off the bed, walking to the door "ladies first, Lego-face." He opened the door and held it.

She sighs "Whatever, fine... Just keep up, yeah? I want to get this over with A.S.A.P." She walked through the door, heading for the exit.

Jack sprinted along, his tail swaying at the thought of her going out in feminine clothes for the first time.

Gosha stood over the pot of soup, feeling it's warm steam on his old scales. "Ah, that's nice... Reminds me of the saunas I used to go to when I was young..." He put on his reading glasses, pulling his sweater over his head "I wonder when Legosi will get here..." He sat on his reclining chair, waiting patiently, slowly drifting into sleep...

Legosi stood in front of the door, her heart pounding slightly. "Okay... Just knock, walk inside and say it..." She reached up a hand, rapping on the door three times.

A muffled Gosha shouted "O-Oh, just a moment!" Legosi heard him walking around his apartment, before walking up to the door. "Hey lego-" he opened the door, his face briefly full of shock "Oh! That's an... interesting, outfit! You young people have the most peculiar tastes in fashion... Come in, come in! You too Jack, I see you hiding behind him!"

Legosi felt a pang of dysphoria, but powered through, walking into the apartment and sitting at the kitchen counter. "So, did you want to have dinner first, or..."

"Oh, we should eat to calm ourselves, and to energize our bodies before we get serious!" Gosha notices Legosi's sunken sheeks and visible hand and wrist bones, and a worried look passes over him. "I couldn't tell because of your clothes at first, but... You've gotten so thin, what do they feed you at that school? Have you even been eating?"

Jack grimaced, also having been worried about Legosi's eating habbits and loss of weight. Legosi gulped, pulling her sleeves down "It- it's hard to explain without telling you the important thing first..." Gosha shook his head.

"Okay, but we need to talk about it..." He walked over to the pot grabbing bowls and disinfecting everything one last time before serving them to Jack and Legosi. "I know you'll be alright Legosi, but Jack won't..." Gosha said in response to the face she made.

"I-its fine! The smell bugs me a bit, it's quite... Strong" she took a small sip of the soup, placing it back down on the table. "So, the thing I've been meaning to tell you... It's pretty big, so you might want to sit down Grandpa" he pulls out a chair, sitting opposite to her, nodding along as she speaks.

"I always felt wrong, like I didn't fit in my skin quite right, and for a while I thought that was how everyone felt... Then I saw people going out, happy to be who they were, and I wanted that, needed that... I stayed like that, wanting and needing something I didn't understand, for years, until just a few weeks ago, when I helped another student with her garden. I had a.. realization" she took a deep breath, preparing herself.

"I am a woman on the inside, which is why Ive never been comfortable in my own skin, or felt like other boys. I am a female grey wolf hybrid." She said this and stiffened, waiting for her grandfather's response.

"Oh Legosi! I'm sorry you had to go through that!" Gosha hugged her deeply "I might not understand... but I love you, and I always will..." Tears prickled in his eyes "you're so brave... Your mother would be so proud..." Legosi heard this and bursted into tears, holding her grandfather deeply.

"I-i love you to, G-grandpa..." She sniffled and pulled back, wiping her eyes.

"So, do you want me to call you another name, and she and her?" Gosha wiped his tears, spritzing the countertop with antivenom.

Y-yeah, and I just recently came up with my name... It's Lenora, it... It reminded me of mom, and... I just wanted to have a piece of her with me, always..."

"Oh, Legosi thats beautiful!" He stiffened "L-Lenora! Sorry, it's going to take me a while, this mind of mine isn't as flexible as it used to be, heh..."

"It's alright." Lenora responded "as long as you try, that's all I care about..."

Notes:

I settled on her name! Thanks to EnbyCrow for the suggestions! I went with Lenora because it's somewhat similar to Leano(her mother) ,and because the L at the beginning helps my brain remember who she is lol. I also fixed some errors in previous chapters, if you see any in this or any other chapter, past or future, let me know!

Chapter Text

Lenora's bagged eyes glazed over, her claws working their way into the dirt as she slowly pulled up the weeds. Haru was taking a short break, sitting on a chair in the shade of the gardening shed.
"Hey, are you okay? You've been kinda... Out of it today..."

The wolf continued, seemingly not even hearing Haru as she moved along the planter boxes. Haru stood up, stretching her back before walking over to Lenora, touching her on the shoulder. She jumped hard, instantly standing straight and bouncing a few inches into the air before whirling around.

"O-Oh, it's just you..." Haru saw the exhaustion on her eyes, the faint purple circles showing beneath her cream fur. She reached out a hand, holding onto the wolf's, she now noticed, very thin forearm.

"Hey, are you okay? You don't look well..." Lenora tried to pull away, but Haru held firm.

"I-Im f-fine, it-its fine" she whispered in a thin, raspy tone. her mouth curled into an attempt at a smile, though her eyes remained exhausted.

"No, it isn't" Haru pulled her to the shed, the light afternoon sun filtering through its small window. She closed the door and turned to face Lenora. "When was the last time you ate? Or slept, for that matter?" The wolf squirmed.

"N-not that long ago... I ate breakfast with Jack yesterday..." The rabbit pulled her into a hug, wrapping her arms around her thin midsection. The wolf held her hands up, startled by Haru's sudden action.

"Oh, Lenora..." Haru felt her ribs against her face, and her spine protruding slightly from her back. "I'm so sorry I didn't notice sooner..." Lenora slowly leaned into the hug, wrapping her arms around the smaller girl.

"I-its not your fault, im-i" Haru felt tears land atop her head "I'm just b-broken, I'm sorry!" the words came out in a blubber, sobs wracked her emaciated form as she sunk to the floor.

Haru felt her heart sink at the words coming out of her friends mouth, she held the wolf's head to her shoulder tightly, whispering in her ear. "Y-your'e not broken, okay? There's no such thing as a broken person, some people just... Need help sometimes. And that's okay..." Haru pulled away slightly, looking into her eyes "I know someone who can help you, he helped one of my cousins when she was going through... something like this." the wolf stood, Haru holding her arms to help her balance.

"R-really? I-i don't want to be a burden, and it not that big of a deal..." She wiped tears from her eyes as Haru pulled out her phone, dialing a number.

"You're not a burden, okay? Just having you around is worth anything you could ever put me through" the phone clicked, and Haru began speaking into it "Hello? Yes, I need to speak with doctor Gouhin? Thank you"

The phone went to hold, and Haru sat Lenora down on the small bed, sitting beside her and holding her large, bony hand.

"Hey, Gouhin. Yes this is serious! Yes! I have a friend who needs help. She... Hasn't been eating, or sleeping, and I can't give her the help she needs. Of course I did! Could I walk her over tonight, just for a quick checkup? Yes I'll pay! Thank you!" She pressed the end call button, anger clear on her face.

"Damn that panda... He's good at his job, but he's such an asshole..." Haru looked up into Lenora's eyes. "So, he's gonna give you a look over, and then work from there" The wolf gave her an anxious look

"I promise, he's the best at what he does, though he can be a bit... Harsh at times" she stood, grabbing her wrist "let's get going, it's a long walk."

Notes:

Chapter ten! I tried to make this one a bit less sad, I really don't like writing super angsty stuff lol. Warning, some mild dead naming happens, but it isn't purposeful!

Chapter Text

Haru and Lenora sat in chairs in the waiting room of Gouhin's Clinic, the yellow lights flickering as they waited for a name to be called.

"He'll take good care of you, ok? It'll just be some medical stuff, and maybe some mental health stuff." Haru held the wolf's arm, rubbing her hand back and forth across her steel-gray fur. Lenora looked over to her, slouching down.

"O-Okay, Haru, I believe you... I'm just nervous, I... I dunno..." Her gaze shifted to the patterned linoleum floor between her legs, un-focusing as she spaced out into the pattern. She had been doing that a lot lately, she realized. Maybe her brain was a bit foggy from school.

The owl behind the counter spoke out into the mostly empty room. "Lenora? Do we have a Lenora?" Haru stood, wiping dust from her pants as she shook the taller girl out of her trance.

"Th-that would be my friend here, for doctor Gouhin, right?" Haru held the slouching wolf by the wrist and led her to the front desk, standing on her toes to see over the counter.

"Hmm... A bit manly looking for a Lenora, but parents will name their kids anything these days... The door on the left there? Gouhin is expecting you."

Lenora froze as she spoke, slouching down slightly further as her eyes grew even more downtrodden "Th...thank you, ma'am..." The two girls walked through the door, entering Gouhin's office.

"So, this is the wolf you wanted me to see?" The gruff panda spoke, slouching against the desk in the room. Lenora stood slouched, Gouhin eyed her suspiciously. "Has he got a name?"

"Her name is Lenora, and she is scared, so if you could drop the tough guy act and help an animal in need I would greatly appreciate it!" Haru glared at the panda, crossing her arms. He sighed, softening his expression and looking towards the wolf.

"Look, kid, I can't help you if you can't tell me what wrong, but you don't have to do that just yet, alright? I'll run some tests first and let you get comfortable before we get into the touchy-feely part of this, okay?" Lenora shakily nodded, sitting down on the table

"Also, I need to ask for privacy reasons, is It okay if she stays in the room? If not that's okay." The wolf nodded with much more energy this time, exciting a laugh from the panda and a smile from Haru. "Okay, now we can get started"

"Alrighty, I did some basic vitals and a few other tests, including some blood tests for which the results will come in in about a week. My professional diagnosis is sleep deprivation, malnutrition, and overexertion, likely aided by the malnutrition. I also found very high physical stress levels, and some hybrid features, which I assume you already knew about by the look on your face." Lenora made an exhausted expression as the doctor spoke, waiting for him to finish his diagnosis.

"So, now the hard part" the panda pulled up a chair, looking into Lenora's eyes. "Why haven't you been eating?" The wolf squirmed slightly, her tail tightly between her legs

"I... I hate my body" she spoke in a shaky whisper, distress clear in her voice "it... It's so..." She sniffled, tears forming in her eyes "N-no matter how m-many of my friends see me as a girl, o-other people don't! Ev-even the fr...fucking lady at the front desk called me manly! A...and I cant get hormones because I'm not out to my doctor! I... I just..." She let out a loud, harsh sob folding over herself on the table. She curled up right into a ball, covering her head with her hands as the panda walked over, laying a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, you're not defined by your body, okay? And starving yourself won't make you look the way you want, regardless of whatever that is. If you want hormones, I have a connection in the city hospital who I could get some from for you, if you want..."

Haru stood from her chair, walking over to the table and hugging the side of the crying wolf. "We all love you regardless of how you look... And I think your quite pretty as you are, personally"

The wolf's tail began to slowly tap up and down on the table, making the rabbit giggle. "You m-mean it?" Haru wrapped her hands around the wolf's cheeks holding her face in front of her as she wiped the tears from her eyes.

"Of course I do..." She held her there for a moment, their snouts inches apart as she smiled into her eyes. "You're beautiful, inside and out" the wolf blushed, looking away.

"I-if your so sure..."

Gouhin cleared his throat from the corner of the room, interrupting the moment as he spoke in an uncomfortable voice. "Sorry to interrupt, I'll set you up with a therapist near your location and see about getting some hormones... So if you would leave my office that would be appreciated..." The wolf giggled, the blush on her face reddening further

"S-sorry doc... We'll be going now..." The wolf led the rabbit from the room, holding her hand. Suddenly she froze, turning her head around.

She spoke with a newfound confidence "And have a talk with your employee out in the lobby, she needs to work on her bedside manner" Then, the two girls walked out together, still holding hands as they went.

Chapter Text

The 701 boys all sat about their dorm room, Jack and Miguno studying in their bunks as the other boys sat in a circle playing cards. An anxious atmosphere draped over the room as the faint light of a lamp lit the room, a small beam of moonlight shining through the open window.

"Hey Jack, do you... Happen to know when gardening club gets over? It's getting pretty late and Lenora's still not back..." Jack sighed, pulling off his glasses and setting them on his book.

"It ends at 7, but sometimes Haru needs extra help... I've never seen it take this long though" Jack checked his watch, seeing that it was a bit past nine thirty. "I'm a bit worried honestly... I know some people have unpleasant opinions about her, and I don't want her to get hurt..." Collot looked up from the card game, laying his hand face down on the old carpet.

"The way I see it, she can probably defend herself, she's quite tall y'know...though I'm pretty worried too..." Jack hunched slightly, holding his head in his hands.

"I would've thought so too this time last year, but... She's gotten so skinny these last few months, I can feel her bones whenever I hug her, and she never eats! I-i just..."

Jack took a shaky breath, wiping a small tear from his cheek. He looked at it for a moment, muttering to himself "A tear huh? Been a while since I've seen one of you..." Before wiping it on his blanket. Voss spoke, not looking away from his hands

"Look, regardless of how well she can defend herself, worrying now won't help her any. We should be staying calm, and helping her whenever she returns." Voss spoke in his usual monotone, though the boys could still tell he was nervous, despite his lack of expression.

Jack sighed once more, putting on his glasses and settling back into his book. "Okay... Thanks for the reality check Voss"

"What's a reality check?" Voss tipped his head in a practiced manner, giving Jack a confused look.

"You don't have to do that with us, y'know. I know it's exhausting for you, and we can tell what your emotions are just fine." Voss breathed out slightly settling his head back on his shoulders

"Oh, sorry. I've been spending too much time around strangers lately, it's a bit of a hard habit to break sometimes" Jack gave the small canine a soft smile

"It's okay, I don't mind..." Jack suddenly perked up "Oh yeah, a reality check is when you give someone a somewhat harsh truth to make sure they aren't caught up in something that doesn't matter!" He giggled slightly "Sorry I almost forgot to answer your question!"

Voss nodded "Thanks, I'll remember that" and he returned to cards.

Lenora slowly opened the door to the dorm, creeping in as a small amount of moonlight lit the room from the window, revealing the 701 boys sleeping in a cuddle pile in the center of the room. She smirked at this, giggling slightly as she placed her things at her bed and dressed down, sneaking over to the pile of dogs.

"Let's see here..." She spent a few moments observing the pile before picking a spot and lying on it, covering them all in the blanket and resting surrounded by her dorm mates. The boys stir slightly, muttering under their breath and returning to sleep. She joins them.

"When did she get back?" Jack muttered in a groggy tone, wiping the sleep from his eyes as all of the 701 boys stood around the still sleeping wolf, except for Collot, who was trapped beneath her thin frame and didn't want to wake her.

"Definitely after we fell asleep, but probably around one in the morning if I had to guess" Voss watched Lenora snore softly as Collot stared at the ceiling.

"I just hope she wakes up soon, I can't feel my legs..." Collot whispered. The wolf stirred, rubbing her hands on her eyes before opening them and seeing Collot.

"Good morning..." She mutters, her eyes half shut as sunlight filters through the window.

"Morning, sleepyhead. Could you maybe get off me now? You're bony and my legs are numb." She suddenly shot away from him standing a few feet away.

"Sorry! I didn't realize I was...*yawn* on top of you..." And just like that the energy left her, her rubbing her eyes.

"How late did you get home last night?" Jack looked at her worriedly.

"Um... Maybe two o'clock? I'm not sure" she sees the look they all give her and holds up her hands.

"I was at the doctor! ...And the psychologist? Maybe? I dunno if he counts..." She looked thoughtful, before realizing it didn't matter and shaking her head.

"I'm sorry for worrying you guys..." She looked guilty, wringing out her hands and averting her eyes.

"It's okay, just... Tell us next time, okay? We'll be there for you, whatever you need." Jack put a hand on her shoulder, giving her a genuine smile.

"As long as what you need isn't a mattress" Collot groaned from his bunk, still stretching his legs. "I don't think I'll be able to walk for a while..."

Notes:

Lenora returns! I tried to touch on Voss's autism a bit, but I don't know how well I portrayed it, so if you want to provide some feedback I'd be happy to hear it! As always, criticism is welcome, and I look forward to any comments!

Chapter 12

Summary:

Haru and Lenora have a very important talk!

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Haru was pretty sure Lenora was avoiding her. She hadn't seen the she-wolf in almost a week, which is the longest they've gone without meeting by far, and she's been alone during gardening club.

So, she decided, if Lenora wouldn't come to her, she would go to Lenora, and give her a piece of her mind! Haru opened the door to the gardening club, suddenly met by a tall, grey wall.

"Oh, hey Haru..." Lenora wore a soft grey skirt and a white button up, and was rubbing the back of her head and avoiding eye contact.

"Where have you been?! I was about to march over to your dorm and start shouting!" Haru huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I... I'm sorry Haru, I've had a lot on my mind lately, so I didn't think I'd be much help..." Haru was struggling to stay angry, especially given the puppy dog eyes she was being given.

"It's fine, but you've gotta at least tell me what's had you off in la-la-land for the last week, got it?" She marched to the shed, holding the door for the taller girl.

"Thats... Kind of what I came here to do actually..." Lenora's face grew slightly red as she spoke, her eyes finding themselves on the floor as she sat stiffly on the bed.

Haru sat down in the chair nearby, looking to Lenora with anticipation and impatience. "Go on, I'm ready"

"Well... Do you... Like girls Haru?" She rubbed her hands up and down her arms in a gesture of nervousness, upsetting the soft grey fur and fluffing it up.

"I'm not picky about a person's gender or whatever, it's what's inside that counts. Why d'you ask?" She felt her anger and frustration fade, replaced by a sense of... Giddiness? She wasn't sure.

"Well, I..." Lenora took a deep breath, squeezing her eyes shut and tensing before suddenly speaking "I thinkilikeyou!"

Haru tilted her head in confusion, placing her small white hand atop one of Lenora's much larger ones. "Try again, slower. It's okay"

Lenora took a few deep breaths, relaxing her posture but keeping her eyes closed. "I think... I think I like you, Haru"

Haru's eyes burst open wide, and she leapt onto Lenora with a hug, that sense of giddiness intensifying into excitement. "I've been waiting for you to say that for weeks!"

Lenora's brain blue-screened for a moment before she realized what Haru said and returned the embrace, wrapping her long arms tightly around the rabbit. "I didn't want to drive you away..."

Haru giggled, a sense of glee clear in her voice "I was afraid of overwhelming you! I'm so happy you feel the same way, I do!" She tucked her face deeper into Lenora's shirt, shaking slightly with joy.

"Girlfriends?" Lenora spoke softly above Haru, holding her tight.

"Girlfriends!" Haru whispered much louder, giggling softly

Chapter Text

The sun in the garden was warm and soft on her grey fur, a warm breeze blowing over the rooftop garden. Lenora wasn't sure she deserved all this peace, but... she didn't mind.

Haru suddenly flicked her on the arm. "Earth to Lenora? I can see your brain short-circuiting"

The wolf giggled, wringing out her hands. "Sorry, just... Thinking."

"Anything interesting bouncing around your head today?"

"Not really, no." She shook her head gently.

"... Y'know what I just realized?" The rabbit looked up at her mischievously.

"Huh?"

"You haven't hugged me yet today!" And she leapt up abruptly, wrapping herself around the wolf's midriff in a fit of giggles.

Lenora wobbled a bit, stabilizing herself and kneeling down to fully embrace Haru. "Sorry, just..."

Haru retracted slightly from the hug, looking into the wolf's eyes. "I know this is all new to you, just let me lead the way, alright? I've got loads of experience!"

Lenora buried her snout into Haru's shoulder, a warmth in her chest and a smile on her face.

And they stayed that way for a moment, new lovers just holding one another under a warm sun and a gentle breeze...

And then the club door slammed open, revealing a slightly disheveled deer.

"Haru, I-!" He stopped abruptly, looking at the two of them with wide eyes.

Lenora leapt away from Haru, startled, and stuttered out "it-its not what it looks li-like!"

Haru stepped out in front of the wolf, leveling an impatient look at Louis. "You needed something?"

"I-! well!" He brought his hands up to his face and took a deep breath, composing himself.

"I meant to speak with you about plans for drama." He spoke flatly.

"You mean you wanted to complain more about how I 'poached' Len- your lighting technician?"

"Well, maybe, but only because he's sorely missed!" He spat out indignantly. "And I also wanted to talk about some flower arrangements."

Lenora stood up from the ground, wiping the dirt from her pants and returning to that hunched, nervous posture she had only just started to get rid of "It-its her n-now." She stammered

"Hmm?" His mask slipped slightly.

"She said it's her now, Louis." She gave him a slight glare.

He held his hands up in a placating gesture "I didn't know. Apologies for any offense" his mask slotted back into place as his face returned to neutral.

"N-none taken"

"We have certainly missed you though, Leg-" he cut himself off "what should I call you?"

"L-lenora"

"We've missed you, Lenora. Kai is completely incompetent, and refuses to learn."

"That... Sounds about right, from my memory." She winced slightly

"Would you... Consider coming back?" Haru gave him a full glare

"I don't mean leave the gardening club! Just- just when you can!" He lowered his eyes and spoke quietly "I hate to beg, but we need you..."

The wolf was stunned "I-i can try to make time?"

Louis bowed slightly "that's all I can ask..." And left just as quickly as he came.

"...well that was weird..."

"Yeah..." Lenora sighed

"...He totally thought we were about to have sex." Haru smirked

Lenora nearly leapt out of her fur "WH-WHAT?!"

Notes:

Hey, I'm back! sorry for the sudden disappearance, I had some real-life stuff happening! But new chapter! I decided to bring Louis back, because you can never have enough dramatic Bi energy. As always, criticism is accepted, and comments are welcome!

Chapter Text

A dim sound echoed through the walls of Durham's bed, keeping him up. It sounded like... Humming? It couldn't be one of the boys, they all have pretty low voices... If he could only get a touch closer...

And suddenly it stopped, and he heard a hushed voice. "Sorry! I was voice training, I didn't mean to keep you up!" I raspy feminine whisper came from the room. Was that... Lenora?

"It's fine, just hadn't gotten to sleep yet..." He spoke groggily, trying not to sound angry.

"I'll... I'll be quiet now."

"Alright..." And he went back to sleep...

Lenora walked through the city, following a route she knew like the back of her hand through the tangled streets.

"You told him we're coming?" Haru asked, walking beside her.

"Yeah, he knows. I told him when I scheduled the appointment too!" She smiled a small and genuine grin, flapping her hands in excitement. Haru looked up at her and grinned, reaching up and taking her hand as they continued to walk.

"I know you've wanted this for a while, I'm happy it's working out for you." Lenora blushed as Haru held her hand.

"We... We'll be at Grandpa's place in just a minute." She hid her flustered expression by looking away.

"...I know you're blushing, goober." Haru giggled, smirking at the wolf's shocked expression.

"Sorry to bother you Grandpa, I'm not eighteen yet, so..." Lenora sat in the backseat of the car, holding Haru's small and soft hand within her larger, bonier one.

"I know, you need me to sign the papers." He smiled at her through the mirror. "I'm just delighted to see you... And finally meet your girlfriend."

"It's been a pleasure meeting you, Gosha." Haru responded politely, smiling lightly back at him.

And they arrived.

Lenora helped Haru get out of the much smaller seat, and prepared to head in to the doctor's office. After Gosha disinfected the whole car, of course

They headed to the waiting room, only giggling a little at the kid playing with the toys there...

"Legoshi?" A doctor spoke out into the almost silent room, making the wolf wince.

"That's... That's me." And she stood, following the lady to the room and waving to Haru and Gosha.

"So we'll be doing a blood draw today, does that sound alright?"

She nodded, beginning to fill out the paperwork she was handed and prepare herself.

She walked out of the doctor's office feeling a bit nauseous and dizzy, but apparently that's normal for having blood drawn? Maybe she was just squeamish? She didn't know. it made getting in the car pretty hard though. She was comfy now though...

"I'll grab us some food and get you two back to school, alright."

Haru nodded, her hands busy petting and rubbing Lenora's head as she laid down in the backseat, her head on Haru's thighs and her eyes drifting into a sleep.

"I'm... I'm happy she found someone..." Gosha spoke more seriously. "I was afraid, when she told me about who she is, that she might... That she might end up like my daughter..."

Haru looked up at him. "I... I was worried for her at first, too. She... I was afraid she'd wither away before me and leave me behind... I'm glad she's been so happy lately. She deserves it." She smiled down at Lenora.

"Yes... Yes she does." And they drove like that for a while, wrapped in a comfortable silence.

Notes:

Back again! Its been a hot minute since Lenora had some transition progress, so I thought I would make a chapter about it! I also went and edited chapter 1 to make it a little less awkward(my writing has improved by leaps and bounds lol). As always, criticism is welcome, and comments are appreciated!

Chapter Text

Lenora sat on her bed, listening to her roomates clamoring around the dormroom and preparing for class. She didn't mind changing around them, not really, but it felt like the kind of thing she just couldn't do anymore, y'know?

"We're all done out here, you can come out Nora." Jack spoke through the curtain, kneeling down and peeking through the fabric. She nodded, sliding off of the mattress and stretching. She always felt a bit sore at first in the morning because of the comparatively small beds in the large breed canine dorms.

"Anything exciting on your plate today?" She spoke. Jack made a so-so gesture with his hand, leaning down and sliding on his shoes.

"Ehh, not really. Just the regular stuff, no tests this week either, which is nice..." He shrugged. "Im not in any clubs either, so... pretty boring. What about you? You've had a lot going on lately, anything fun today?" She made a sharp inhale sound through her teeth, wrinkling her nose a bit.

"I don't know that I'd say fun... but I am going to start attending Drama Club again, starting today. Not sure how to feel about it, honestly I'm pretty nervous..." Jack nodded in understanding, remembering how stressed out the club had made her in the past.

"Yeah... I hope it goes well, though!" He reached down, grabbing his bag and looking around at the rest of his roommates, making sure all of the half asleep, mumbling boys were actually almost ready.

"Me too, believe it or not. Not sure how excited I am about being seen by my old club members though... they all knew me before... well, before." She rubbed her arms nervously, claws gliding through slate fur.

"Oh, I hadn't even thought of that... what does that make it, four times, you've come out?"

"Five, I think..." She made a show of counting on her fingers. "Yeah, five. Hopefully it'll stay at five for a good while yet, im starting to get a bit tired of it." She giggled lightly.

Jack smiled lightly at her, happy to see his friend happy. He couldn't help but feel a tad envious honestly, but she'd had enough curveballs thus far, she deserved some happiness.

After her classes the wolf returned to her dorm and, being the only one there, got dressed for her first time back at Drama Club. She didn't necessarily need to change out of her uniform, but she really didn't want to wear those slacks and suspenders any longer than she had to.

She tucked her male uniform away–she hadn't gotten around to getting permission to wear the female uniforms from the administration, and really didn't want to bother– and pulled out the grey skirt she'd picked out with Haru. It matched the color of the regular uniforms enough to match at a glance, which was all she really cared about. She got changed here since she didn't want to have to contend with the locker rooms at the club, considering, well... she just didn't want to.

Deciding to be a bit brave, she pulled out some makeup from her bag and put on some eyeliner before looking down at her phone.

Noticing the time, Lenora quickly pinned on some clip on earrings and grabbed her bag, heading out of the dorm and toward the clubroom.

Lenora hadn't had second thoughts until she was in the hall in front of the door to the clubroom. She'd been standing beside the door, trying to control her breathing and gather her strength, for the better part of ten minutes.

After one final deep breath, and only a but more hesitation, she stepped forward and grabbed onto the door handle, stepping in.

For a few moments, the room was full of movement, club members going about there business as they would any other day. And then, one by one, they noticed the awkward, tall wolf standing just beside the door, and went quiet.

"Uh, Um, I-, I'm, uh..." She stuttered, pinned down by the gaze of the entire Drama Club. Then, breaking the silence, a door slammed open and out stepped Louis, speaking in his i'm-important-listen-to-me voice, addressed the club.

"Good afternoon, everyone. Granted the... difficulty our lighting technician has been having..." Louis getured upward, to which Kai quickly responded with what was probably a rude gesture.

"...I have gone out and found someone who knows their stuff, and who better to fill the role than our very own previous technician." Some of the more dense members of the club, most notably a certain tiger, looked quite surprised, not having realized that Lenora was once Legoshi.

"So, I would like you all to welcome–re-welcome, really– Lenora the grey wolf, who will be our lead lighting technician going forward." The wolf awkwardly waved, feeling blood rush to her face as she reintroduced herself to her old clubmates.

"H-hi, everyone, its... great to see you all again." She did her best feminine voice, it wasn't perfect, but what was? And walked forward as everyone settled into positions for rehearsal.

She made her way up onto the catwalk, realizing a skirt didn't make very good ladder climbing attire, and was greeted by Kai.

"So, its Lenora now, eh?" The mongoose said, looking up to meet her gaze.

"Yeah, um, and She/Her, if that wasn't obvious. How... how've things been, while I was away?" She tried her best to press through the nerves.

"Everyone else's been just fine, same as ever I guess..." he shook his head. "Im glad you came back though, I'e been trying my best, but I am just not cut out for this stuff, man..." he flinched slightly "well, not man but, yknow, I just-" Lenora chuckled lightly at his fumbling, her deeper voice expressing warmly in its rich tone as her voice slips.

"It's fine, Kai. Really, don't worry about it." She says after clearing her throat and recentering her voice. He nodded, glad to move on from the topic.

"We're not really rehearsing any plays right now, just getting the newbies trained and everybody else ready for auditions for the next play, so we've got plenty of time to kill... I'll probably go down and chat with Dom in a bit, but Louis gets pissy if he catches me going down too often, so..." Lenora tilted her head.

"You and Dom have gotten close?" Kai nods sheepishly.

"Yeah, we've, uh, gotten pretty close, lately..." Lenora gasped, seeing his embarrassed look and failed attempt at keeping his feelings hidden.

"Really? You two...?" The mongoose shushed her, his face blushing.

"He didn't want me telling anybody, so keep it quiet, alright?" He whispers, to which she nods rapidly.

"Your secret's safe with me, I'm just really happy for you two." She smiled down at him. He huffs, crossing his arms.

"It's not that big of a deal, we just... get along, y'know? He really gets me, more than anyone else tries to."

"I get that." She nods, thinking of Haru, before her thoughts were interrupted by Louis shouting for the actors to get together for warm-ups. "We should probably shut up now, he'll get real mad if he catches us chatting while they're doin' stuff."

Lenora nods in agreement, leaning against the railing and looking down at the actors... she had so many memories here, good and bad, she was glad to be able to come back and make more, but as herself this time.

Notes:

Hey Y'all! I'm alive, this fic isn't abandoned, I swear! Life's kinda been kicking my ass lately, but im still trying.

I've lately been thinking, since I've grown exponentially as a writer since I started this fic, I may do a rewrite at some point, but I'm undecided as of yet.

As always, criticism is welcome and feedback is appreciated!

Chapter Text

"Alright, thats a wrap! We'll be announcing the new play and prepping for auditions next time, so be prepared to start memorizing lines!" Louis shouted, his tone demanding the attention of all of the clubmembers, who then started heading for the lockerrooms once he turned away and began heading for his room.

Lenora did one last check of the lights before heading down–she was determined to have everything in order and functional for next rehearsal. She appreciated Kai's efforts... but the mongoose had left everything is disarray, which she had only noticed a good bit of the way through the rehearsal and had to scramble to fix.

"Well, see you later!" Speak of the devil...

"Yeah, see you next rehearsal" she waved him off as he grabbed up his things and headed down the ladder.

She was pretty certain all was in order so she followed him down, glad she'd been distracted so there weren't nearly as many animals in the room.

"Hey, wait up!" Someone shouted behind her, causing her to turn to face them, and seeing that it was... someone she hadn't met, actually?

"Hey! Um, have we met, or...?" Lenora awkwardly scratched her neck, looking down at the female wolf who'd just greeted her.

"No we haven't, but I figured I'd say hi. My name's Juno!" Lenora squints in thought for a moment before replying.

"Oh, yeah, you're an actor right? I saw you in the drills today, you seemed pretty good, especially for a new member."

"Thanks, that's very nice of you to say..." Lenora wasn't sure how to respond to that... this is a very awkward silence, she was probably supposed to speak next, right?

"Well, I actually wanted to speak with Louis before I go, so I'm just gonna..." She turned and walked away, to which Juno responded by waving her off.

"It's cool to have another wolf in the club! See you next time Lenora!" Lenora just kept walking... she really wasn't built for interacting with people that high-strung...

The door to his office was just as imposing as she'd remembered it... many acting dreams had been crushed in this room, you could nearly feel the hostility ingrained in the wood...

Lenora rapped her knuckles on the door thrice–she always hated the obnoxious rhythmic knocks people did–and waited in front of the door.

After just a moment it swung open, revealing Louis.

"Come in." He turned and walked back to his desk, leaning back in his chair and crossing his legs. "I take it you've decided to stay?"

"I-um, yeah. I definitely wanna stay." Even despite all the time apart she still felt quite nervous speaking to him, he had a strength about him she just wasn't sure how to interact with.

"Good, good... I however do feel inclined to ask, what exactly made you come back?"

"Well, i've... im trying to live as myself–more... I really did love the drama club when I was in it before, I just needed space and time to come to terms with myself, if that makes any sense." She fidgeted with her hands nervously.

"It does. I'm glad you've come to terms with who you are... was that all?"

"Oh it, uh, wasn't, no... I realize that I can't very well be, well, me, and still use the male carnivore locker room, so I was going to ask if I should use the female carnivore one instead? I dont want to make anyone uncomfortable, but its kind of inconvenient to have to change ahead of time, especially if I'm going to be doing anything other than lights..."

"Were you thinking of joining the acting pool?" Louis perked up from his chair, leaning on his desk.

"Well, I was thinking I might, depending on what play we're doing... I'd probably have to train Kai, though." Louis nodded grimly.

"Yes, he would need... guidance, were you to be an actor... well, granted that it's you're first day back I won't push, but we could always use more compelling actors. Oh, and you can use the female locker rooms, we're a drama club, there aren't many groups more accepting. Now, if that was all, I do actually have some responsibilities to attend to."

"Alright, I'll get out of your fur..." She walked out of the room as Louis pulled papers from his desk, planning for the next play, she figured.

The clubroom had emptied while she was in the office, all the life that had animated it before gone like a breath. She stared in silence wistfully momentarily before heading out towards the dorm.

"How was it?" Jack asked as he sat down beside her on her bed.

"It was... pretty good, actually." She nodded. "Yeah, pretty good. It was weird seeing all those people again, but not in a bad way..." Jack looked fondly at her, memories of when she used to attend drama before coming back to him.

"I'm happy for you." He smiled.

"You two comin for dinner or what?" Collot complained from the doorway. "The rest of the boys are already gone."

Lenora shrugged, standing up and walking toward the door before turning back to Jack.

"You coming?"

He nodded, smiling a genuine smile and following her.

Notes:

New chapter! I think Ive decided that I really do want to rewrite this fic! I just think ive grown so much as a writer, and this story deserves a fair chance at being written well. Thanks for reading!
