    Chapter 47

During the hunt, Rhaenyra confronts Eleanor about her quarrel with Lyarra (who’s marrying Harwin) and about her plans for the fountain being leaked. Eleanor, thinking that everyone is just ableist as fuck and not rightfully wary of Larys, lashes out. Rhaenyra also has a sworn shield now, a Bolton woman. She shoots the white hart and presents it.

Holy moly! Rhaenyra is a badass in this. Her slow but steady growth as an heir is an absolute pleasure to read. Though she does get the Dream of the future, it doesn’t automatically make her a master at everything. She learns and makes mistakes. I also adore that her ladies-in-waiting are fleshed out characters with their own personalities, flaws, and stories, not just one-dimensional pieces for Rhaenyra to use to gain power. I was a bit hesitant to read this because there was a tag about the author not liking Daemon much, but it’s all good. No Daemon bashing, just reasonable criticism of his earlier actions that even I, as a Daemyra shipper agree with.
