Chapter Text
The wind howled, in the endless expanse of darkness.
There was nobody there, except for…
“Where am I?” asked the Lost Soul.
They had no form, no shape.
Everything else felt strange.
Then, it all came back to them.
The Procedure, and the loss of what little they had.
It was unfair, wasn’t it?
“Scott… Becker… Kristine, someone please-”
The Lost Soul called for help.
But Nobody Came.
It didn’t have to be this way, though.
With what little power you have left, you call for help.
And in a flash, HE appeared.
“Forgive me if this is an intrusion, but this seems like quite a predicament.”
The Lost Soul hesitated to respond.
“Oh, silly me. I forgot to introduce myself! The name’s Discord. Not the other ones, and this is quite the situation you’re in!”
The Lost Soul shifts its nonexistent form.
“You’re in the gap between worlds, where lost souls go when they die. It’s basically some sort of limbo. And I would say, it is such an untimely fate you’ve been dealt.”
The Lost Soul’s mirage shifts. Now, in front of them, there was a serpentine creature composed of a myriad of random parts. They are unsure about this.
“Well, I know what you might be thinking. Going back. Well, I’m afraid that’s impossible… but I doubt that’s what you wanted anyway.”
The Lost Soul agreeably flickers.
“I know just the world for you. A world of colorful creatures, of bright aspirations. Your form will be yours to decide. You don’t have to be Hailey- your name is now yours to choose.”
The Lost Soul resonates with his words.
“A pair of loving parents, and a pair of adorable younger siblings. But this time, they’ll accept you, whatever form you might take. Your life will be up to you, free from the strings of destiny.”
Whatever form they might take? An idea formed within them.
“Now, you may choose your vessel. Don’t worry, I’m a scientist, not a random weirdo like my other selves.”
The Lost Soul made their choice- an insectoid equine.
“Ah, a changeling? So you can keep your form fluid, assume whatever body your heart desires? A wise choice. And… your name?”
The Lost Soul whispered.
“Ventra? What a wonderful name. I wish you luck on your new life!”
With a flash, the Lost Soul was gone.
Now, it was just you and the doctor.
“Well, you’re here too. Just a tiny Red SOUL capable of so many things… but I suppose this has been quite the ordeal, hasn’t it? Well, you’re now free to explore the worlds without your summoner’s influence.”
…
“But may we remain in contact? I have something in mind in the future that I’m certain will be very, very interesting.”
And just like that, you were gone too. Thinking about it now, despite everything, someone did get their happy ending after all.
