feels like a fever

Summary:

“I didn’t realize you made a habit of fucking your inferiors.” Vi spits the last word and would laugh at the way Caitlyn’s eyes widen in shock if she wasn’t so close to tears.

“What—“

Work Text:

Vi doesn’t know what it is, all she knows is that there is a burning in her chest and sparks in her fingers. Well. That’s partially a lie. She does know how it starts. It starts when she sees Maddie stand just a little too close to Caitlyn to be professional, looks up at her with more than just respect in her eyes.

Vi doesn’t know much, but she does know that look.

She also knows the way Caitlyn doesn’t seem to shy away from it.

The anger within her brews as she sits, inexplicably, at another council table. Voices rise and fall around her, arguing about Noxus and Ambessa and war and strategy and Vi can’t take it. She’s staring at Maddie’s fingers, steadily inching closer to Caitlyn’s forearm.

It’s wrong , Vi thinks, to feel anger towards a girl who is just a reflection of herself a scant few months ago . That doesn’t help though. It doesn’t help the sickening mixture of rage, self-deprecation, and delirious hopelessness. Caitlyn’s moved on from her, as expected. Vi didn’t expect it to hurt this much.

Maddie’s voice cuts through the buzzing in her head, asking, “What do you think, Vi?”

Vi glares at her.  It’s wrong it’s wrong it’s wrong. Abruptly, Vi stands up, chair screeching against the stone floor. She turns on her heel and stalks out the door, ignoring the startled questions coming from behind her. Taking the steps two at a time, she speeds through the mansion, desperate to get away before she hits someone.

Footsteps click behind her but she ignores them, clenching her fists tightly by her sides.

“Vi wait!” Caitlyn calls from behind her. Vi hates herself for stopping in her tracks. “What’s wrong?”

Vi turns slightly and stares at Caitlyn, detesting the way she wants to answer her. Forcefully, she straightens her fingers and swallows the dryness in her throat. It doesn’t help how rough she sounds when she finally replies.

“Turns out I wasn’t very special.”

Caitlyn’s eyebrows furrow and she shakes her head as she begins, “No—“

“I didn’t realize you made a habit of fucking your inferiors .” Vi spits the last word and would laugh at the way Caitlyn’s eyes widen in shock if she wasn’t so close to tears.

“What—“

“You know, Cupcake, for a minute there I really deluded myself into think I actually mattered.” It comes out unbidden, but now there’s no stopping. “I actually thought I’d found someone who’d want me. And I told myself after you left that at least you’d be as lonely as me, that if I ever saw you again it’d be—“

“It’s not like that!” Caitlyn exclaims, reaching out to grab Vi’s wrist. She flinches violently, jerking out of reach and leaving Caitlyn’s hand hanging in the air.

“You don’t get to touch me.”

“Vi, please. I swear it didn’t mean—“

Vi laughs, bitter. “Whatever, Cupcake. It’s not like we were ever actually together.”

Caitlyn blinks, and her fingers flex like she wants to reach out again. She resists. They’re both breathing heavily now, air between them tight and tense. Caitlyn swallows and forces her next words out of her mouth.

“I wanted you. I want you. I think I have from the moment I saw you in that call. I left you and I think I left my heart behind with you and I’ve been trying to fill that hole for months and I  can’t .” Vi inhales, sharp and quick. Her fingers twitch when she sees a single tear escape from Caitlyn’s eye. “Vi, I…I think I should’ve told you sooner but—“

Vi launches herself forward, one hand grabbing Caitlyn’s waist and the other sliding into her hair, as she presses their lips together. It’s messy and harsh and nothing like their first kiss in the tunnels from months ago. She’s unrelenting in her pursuit, pushing them both until Caitlyn’s back hits the wall.

Caitlyn whimpers softly into her mouth and clutches tightly at Vi’s jacket. Vi detaches herself from Caitlyn’s lips and moves to her neck, sucking and biting harsh marks into the pale skin there. She shoves her thigh between Caitlyn’s legs and barely holds back a moan when she starts to grind down against her.

Vi burns, and she can’t help it when she growls into Caitlyn’s ear, “Did she touch you like this?”

Caitlyn gasps, grinds down harder on Vi’s thigh. Vi moves her hand from Caitlyn’s waist to grope roughly at her ass, pulling her tighter against her. She needs to push, press, possess. She needs Caitlyn to need her.

“Did she ever make you feel like this?” She punctuates the question with a sharp bite to Caitlyn’s jaw, who whines loudly, hands coming up to grip at Vi’s collar. Vi shoves her hips forward, pins her more firmly against the wall. “Use your fucking words, Cupcake.”

“No!” Caitlyn gasps, pushing herself down against Vi’s leg. “No one’s ever made me feel the way you make me feel.”

Vi’s heart stutters in her chest and she pulls back, breathing hard. Caitlyn whines and when their eyes meet, Vi grabs her arm and pulls them into the nearest room.

It’s one of the countless guest rooms in the mansion, each indistinguishable from the last. She drags Caitlyn across the room and all but shoves her onto the bed.

She pauses, stares down into the blue eyes that have haunted her for months. There’s nothing but trust and earnest desire in them, so plain that it almost hurts to see. Vi brings her hand up, traces her fingers across the sharp lines of Caitlyn’s face. Her thumb rests against Caitlyn’s lips.

“Open.”

Caitlyn’s mouth drops open and she quickly swirls her tongue around the tip of Vi’s thumb. Vi smirks, her other hand comes up to grip her hair, not tugging or insisting, but holding firm. She pulls her thumb out of Caitlyn’s mouth, and she whimpers, mouth still obediently open.

Vi moves closer, mouth hovering over Caitlyn’s. She spits and takes gratification in the way Caitlyn swallows it without hesitation. She’s opening her mouth again but Vi leans down and kisses her, licking into her mouth and pushing until Caitlyn’s back is fully resting on the bed, legs wrapping around Vi’s hips.

Her hands come up and rest on Vi’s waist, thumbs softly stroking the scarred skin. Vi stiffens, all her muscles tensing, and Caitlyn yanks her hands back.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean—“ Caitlyn stutters. “You told me not to—“

“Cupcake,” Vi sighs. She sits back on her knees between Caitlyn’s legs. Her skin burns where Caitlyn’s fingers were, and she can’t decided whether or not she wants to walk into the rest of the fire. She chooses to be honest. “I don’t think I know how to be touched without hurting.”

Caitlyn sits up, keeps her hands clenched at her sides. “I know. I know and I’m sorry. For everything. For the record, I never…she never touched me. Not the way you have, not the way you are.”

Vi blinks, stunned. She opens her mouth to respond, but doesn’t know what to say. The mean, selfish part of her is satisfied. Caitlyn must mistake her silence, and begins to ramble.

“Not that it’s anything like your aversion! I know I hurt you and I know I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to make up to you for that, even if you never fully trust me again. It didn’t— she didn’t—feel right and I…well I kept going back because I was able to stop thinking so much.”

“Cait…” Vi starts. Her heart is kicking and screaming against her ribs.

“When I’m with you I can never stop thinking. I’m aware of everything when I’m around you, but also nothing because I can’t think of anything without eventually coming back to you.”

Caitlyn stops but doesn’t take her eyes away from Vi’s. Slowly, Vi leans in to kiss her, gentle and kind and a wordless attempt to tell Caitlyn everything she feels.

Drawing back, Vi pulls off her jacket, leaving only the bandages covering her chest on. She trails her fingers down Caitlyn’s arm, coming down to loosely hold her wrist. She hears Caitlyn’s breath stutter as she pulls her hand forward, guiding until her fingers rest on the firm muscle of her shoulder. The touch makes her heart race, but it doesn’t hurt.

“What are you thinking right now Cait?”

“I…I want you. To…to make love to me.” As she says it, a pretty blush graces Caitlyn’s cheeks.

Vi smiles, soft and warm. She kisses her again, guiding them both down to lie on the bed. She says, “I can do that.”

Caitlyn presses their lips together, and tentatively slides her hand into Vi’s hair, the other arm coming up to wrap around her broad shoulders. Vi’s hands slip back down to Caitlyn’s waist, fingertips skimming the belt line of her pants.

The kiss deepens, but it’s still languid, unhurried. Vi unbuttons Caitlyn’s pants, slow and deliberate to give her time to stop her. She doesn’t, though, and soon enough she’s pulling gray pants down long, long legs.

Caitlyn is wearing purple lace panties and Vi really shouldn’t have expected anything different. She whines into Vi’s mouth as her fingers pull the strip of fabric to the side. Vi has to break away from the kiss as she slides her fingers through slick folds, gasping into Caitlyn’s neck.

“Please, Vi,” Caitlyn moans.

“What do you need baby?”

Caitlyn’s hips jerk at the pet name, the hand in Vi’s hair tightening for a fraction of a second. “Inside. Please. I need you.”

And who is Vi to deny her girl when she begs so nicely?

She presses her middle finger in, and groans at the tight wet heat that grips her. Caitlyn moans, high and choked. Vi pulls out and preses back in, curls her fingers when she bottoms out.

“Another,” Caitlyn gasps into her ear. “Please please plea—“

Vi pushes a second finger in, slower now that she can feel how she’s stretching her. She curls and rubs, searching for the spot inside Caitlyn that will make her fall apart. Her thumb finds Caitlyn’s clit and she quickly has to hold her hips down against the bed as she jolts up into her touch.

“So good, so good, please don’t stop,” Caitlyn moans, licking and kissing the tattoo on Vi’s neck. Vi can tell how hard she’s trying to keep her hands gentle against her, and warmth blooms in her chest as she begins to fuck Caitlyn faster.

She’s getting impossibly tighter, and Vi wants—she wants to be good for Caitlyn, she wants to make her feel good, she wants to be the only one who can.

“Fuck, Cait. You feel so fucking good.” Caitlyn clenches down hard at her words, and Vi groans into her neck at the action. Caitlyn’s hands slip off Vi’s shoulders and out of her hair and Vi mourns the loss until she realizes they’re twisting in their sheets by her head.

Caitlyn is arching up into her, fluttering around her fingers. Vi kisses her, sloppy and wet, before asking, “Can you cum for me, Love?”

Bright blue eyes widen at the endearment and Caitlyn moans, loud and desperate.

“Yes! Yes, Vi, oh  fuckViolet—“ Caitlyn’s voice is high and tight and then she’s cumming, clenching down hard on Vi’s fingers, wetness gushing as she fucks her through her orgasm.

Caitlyn pants heavily into her mouth as she comes down from her high, and Vi pulls her fingers out, stroking lightly through the mess she’s made between Caitlyn’s thighs. Caitlyn trembles underneath her, bringing her hands back to ghost lightly over Vi’s shoulders.

Eventually, Vi tugs Caitlyn’s panties back into place and rolls off to the side. She takes her all in—the flush on her cheeks, the depth of her eyes, the red marks that she’s left on her neck.

“We’ll talk more later, but for now…” Vi starts off, quiet. “For now can we just stay here?”

Caitlyn’s mouth twitches into a smile, and she hesitantly reaches out. Her fingertips brush Vi’s cheek, and as Vi’s eyes flutter closed, she hears “Of course, Violet. I’m not leaving you again, I promise.”
