“Charlie love, I got you something when I was in town today. The shop where I got Nick’s mug from still had some other letters on sale, and I thought you would like a matching one with Nicky’s.”
He picks up the smooth porcelain mug, which is decorated with the letter “C” in the same mustard yellow as Nick’s. It has a cream background and a dark-coloured handle.
“You can keep it here if you like or take it home. I don't mind.”
This small gesture makes him feel part of the Nelson family. Loved.
“No, I’ll keep it here.”
