Work Text:
The Fade was endless, sprawling in waves of memories and fractured possibilities. It pulsed with quiet, golden light as if it could sense the rarity of this moment, the aching years that had passed since Mirassan had last walked here, freely, with him.
Solas moved like a shadow ahead of her, his form indistinct, though his voice was as solid as the world she'd left behind. "You are faster than I remember," he teased, the words carrying just enough heat to brush her skin, though his tone remained measured.
"Maybe you're slower than you think," she countered, stepping into the trace of his silhouette as it reformed on the crest of a stone bridge. The architecture here was neither hers nor his—some strange blend of their subconscious thoughts. Veins of glowing blue light wove through pale, ivory arches that rose to impossible heights.
She let her fingers trail the edge of the bridge, refusing to run after him, even though her heart urgered her forward. She was no longer the impressionable, naive woman she'd been ten years ago. Yet, as her gaze followed him—the curve of his jaw, the confidence in his stride—she couldn’t help but wonder if he could see through the armor she had carefully constructed around herself.
He stopped, turning to face her fully for the first time since she'd stepped into this dream. His violet eyes caught the Fade’s glow, ancient and brimming with intent. "Do you think so?" he murmured.
And then, before she could offer a retort, he vanished.
"Playing games again?" she called out, her voice calm and edged with confidence, her sharp gaze cutting through the twisting currents of the Fade. The realm churned and shifted around her, as unpredictable as ever, but she stood unwavering, her presence commanding. Her connection to this place had grown since they last shared it—no longer reliant on him or the anchor, but wholly her own. The power thrumming within her was raw and untamed, and she relished the challenge of bending it to her command.
She felt the rush of wind before she saw him, a ripple of energy at her back.
"Perhaps it is not a game," his voice came from just behind her ear, soft as rain. She turned sharply, but he was gone again, laughter drifting across the eddies.
“Then what is it?” she asked, more intrigued than frustrated, letting herself relax into the chase.
“A test,” he answered, his voice pulling her forward like a thread woven through her ribs.
She narrowed her eyes but couldn’t suppress the smile that curved her lips. Her steps quickened, though she knew better than to rush headlong into his tricks. Every shadow seemed alive with his presence, every beam of light a whisper of his name.
He was everywhere, and nowhere.
"You never could resist the thrill of the hunt,"-- he said, appearing a dozen steps ahead, his silhouette framed by the arch of a glowing colonnade.
"Maybe I just enjoy pushing your limits," she teased, her tone light but challenging.
His gaze lingered on her, the corner of his mouth curving into a slow, knowing smile. "You’ve always had a knack for outlasting me, vhenan."
The Fade shifted with an almost imperceptible hum as he extended his hand to her, the space around them softening. The towering arches and luminous bridges dissolved, giving way to a secluded grove of trees. Their leaves shimmered with the gentle glow of dreams, casting a dappled light that danced across her skin. Petals drifted through the air like whispers, tangling softly in her hair and caressing her cheek. The transformation was seamless, effortless—controlled by him. And yet, it wasn’t intimidating; it was comforting, familiar, a space built not just of his will but of their shared desires.
Mirassan sauntered toward him, her steps crunching on a carpet of fallen petals. "And now? Do you think I've slowed with time, Solas?"
He let out a low chuckle. "You are still as quick as ever, vhenan. But this... this was never about speed."
When she reached him, his hand rose to her cheek, calloused fingers brushing her skin with reverence. She felt her breath hitch at the touch—not because of his magic, or the Fade’s pull, but because this was him. Solas, in his element, but utterly vulnerable before her.
And then he was gone, slipping from her grasp like mist.
"Solas," she called, her voice carrying just enough frustration to make him chuckle again from somewhere unseen.
"You have always been impatient," his voice teased from the shadows. "Let me savor this."
"Savor what?" she retorted, stepping forward, her eyes scanning the shades that danced between the trees. The space felt alive, shifting as she moved.
"Everything," he replied simply, his voice suddenly behind her again. She whirled, but he was gone before she could catch him. The laughter in his tone turned softer, his next words almost reverent. "You. The shape of your lips, the curve of your neck when you glance over your shoulder. The way your heart races when you think you might be cornered. Would you deny me this joy?"
Her cheeks flushed, and she hated how he could fluster her with mere words. "And what of my joy, Solas?" she asked, her tone sharper now, but no less laced with need.
The air shifted again, and this time he was there—solid and real—his hands framing her face with a tenderness that made her knees weak. His forehead pressed against hers, his breath warm and steady.
"Let me give it to you," he murmured, his thumb brushing over her cheek. "Let me remind you of what we were... and what I beg we can be again."
Her lips parted, a soft gasp escaping as his thumb traced her bottom lip. His gaze dropped to her mouth, his desire plain now, no longer masked by his games. He closed the distance between them slowly, his lips brushing against hers in a kiss so light it was almost cruel.
"Is this what you want, vhenan?" he asked against her lips, his voice shaking now, a crack in his careful facade. But this time, she refused to be patient.
Her answer was to pull him closer, her hands pulling at his tunic as she kissed him fiercely, deeply, pouring every ounce of her longing into him. He groaned against her mouth, his control slipping as he backed her against the nearest tree, his hands wandering to places he had dreamed of touching for nearly a decade.
The Fade itself seemed to tremble at their reunion, the grove around them shifting in waves of color and light. The petals rose into the air, caught in the whirlwind of their magic as their kiss deepened.
"You always did enjoy the chase," Solas murmured against her lips, his voice thick with adoration.
"And you," she replied, pulling him closer still, "always enjoyed being caught."
Solas kissed her as if it were both a beginning and an ending, a collision of years lost and desires unspoken. The decade that had separated them unraveled in an instant, each press of his lips stealing time and giving it back anew. His hands cradled her with reverence, but there was no hesitance in the way he guided her gently back onto the soft moss beneath the ancient tree. His body covered hers, solid and grounding, as the world around them blurred into light and shadow.
Mirassan’s laughter, soft and breathless, broke the kiss as she pulled back just far enough to catch her breath, her lips still brushing his. He followed her retreat, catching her bottom lip between his teeth in a gentle bite before releasing it. The sensation sent a shiver down her spine, and her laughter turned to a soft gasp, her hands curling into his shoulders as he met her gaze with a wicked smile.
Her fingers brushed his cheek, following the red scar down to the hard line of his jaw, and she marveled at the softness there—the contradiction of a man who carried so much weight, yet touched her as if she were fragile silk.
“Ridiculous,” she murmured, still half-laughing, her voice husky and light all at once. “The stories they told me as a girl warned me about the Dread Wolf, about his cunning and trickery… They never said anything about this.” Her green spectral hand slid down his neck, nails grazing his skin just enough to make him draw in a sharp breath. “Certainly nothing about how—”
Solas silenced her with a growl, low and deep in his chest, his fingers wrapping around her wrists and pinning them above her head. The motion was swift and decisive, but the weight of his body against hers was steady, unyielding. She felt the heat of his magic ripple across her skin as though his very essence was pressing into her.
“Enough,” he said, his voice dark and edged with command. His gaze bore into hers, his grip firm but never painful. “Do not reduce me to the villain of stories told to frighten children. Not here. Not now.”
Her breath hitched, and she felt herself flush under his scrutiny. “I wasn’t—”
“Vhenan,” he interrupted, his voice softening though the intensity in his eyes never wavered. His lips lowered to the side of her neck, just above her racing pulse, and he lingered there, letting her feel the heat of his breath. “You will not call me a god,” he murmured, his tongue flicking against her skin. “I am not worthy of such titles. I am only a man, and I worship this.”
He punctuated the words by trailing kisses down the column of her throat, his teeth grazing her just enough to make her squirm beneath him. One of his hands released her wrists, but instead of pulling away, her fingers tangled in his hair, urging him closer.
“The taste of your skin,” he continued, his voice a velvet growl, his lips brushing the curve of her shoulder as he bit down lightly, enough to draw a gasp from her lips. “The sound of your laughter.”
“Solas,” she managed to whisper, her voice trembling as her body arched into him.
“Your strength,” he said, his free hand moving to trace the curve of her waist, his touch firm, claiming. “And the way you yield, when you let me have you like this.”
Her laughter returned, softer now, laced with heat as her body thrummed under his control. “You’re awfully poetic for someone who’s clearly been fantasizing about this for years.”
He lifted his head to look at her, his lips curving into a slow, wicked smile. “Is it not my right to savor what is mine?”
Her breath caught, and her eyes widened at his words, but the fire in her gaze didn’t falter. “Yours?” she asked, her voice teasing despite the tremor of anticipation that ran through her.
“Yes,” he said, leaning down to kiss her with an intensity that stole the words from her mouth. His tongue teased hers, his lips commanding, and she felt herself melting beneath the weight of his body and his presence.
When he finally pulled back, his eyes locked onto hers, daring her to challenge him. “You were mine the moment we met, Mirassan. And you have haunted me ever since.”
Her laughter spilled out again, breathless and trembling, as her fingers tightened in his hair. “You really have a thing for claiming me in impossible ways, don’t you?”
His grip on her waist tightened, his fingers digging in just enough to make her breath hitch. “You can mock me all you like, vhenan,” he murmured, his voice molten. “But you are not denying it.”
“I don’t want to deny it,” she admitted, her voice raw with honesty. “I’ve wanted this, wanted you, for so long it feels like a second heartbeat.”
At her words, something in him seemed to break, his control slipping just enough for her to feel the raw hunger he’d been holding back. His lips crashed into hers, his hands roaming her body with a fervor that made the Fade itself shimmer and quake. The weight of his magic pressed against her, a force that felt like both a demand and a promise, and she gave herself over to it entirely. Mirassan matched his intensity, her right hand tangling in the back of his tunic, tugging it up with an urgency that left no room for hesitation.
“Off,” she demanded, her voice breathless, her lips brushing his as she spoke.
Solas pulled back just enough to obey, his violet eyes locked on hers as he shed the garment in a single fluid motion. His torso was lean and strong, etched with new scars that hadn’t been there before—a pink line cutting across his ribs, another jagged mark near his collarbone. Her gaze lingered, her breath catching as her fingers hovered over the evidence of battles fought in her absence.
His hand caught hers gently but firmly, his voice low and rough. “Later,” he murmured, guiding her touch to his chest. “For now, just feel.”
The heat in his words melted any question she might have asked. Her fingers explored his skin, tracing the planes of muscle, the texture of scars, and the unyielding thrum of life beneath. He shuddered under her touch, his hands finding the edges of her shirt.
“This,” he said, his voice dark and reverent, “is in the way.”
Mirassan smirked, lifting her arms—well, arm—and letting him pull the fabric free. She didn’t miss the way his gaze dropped, lingering on her bare skin, drinking her in as if she were something sacred.
Then his eyes found the spectral glow of her left arm, faint and shifting like the light of the Fade itself. His jaw tightened, his fingers hesitating where they hovered near her shoulder.
“Solas,” she said softly, her voice steady despite the hunger burning in her veins. She reached for him with her right hand, pulling his gaze back to hers. “Not tonight. No guilt, no regret. Just us.”
He exhaled shakily, nodding once before lowering his lips to her shoulder, kissing the seam where her scarred flesh ended and the spectral limb began. The sensation sent a wave of warmth through her, and her body arched into him, her hunger flaring.
Her fingers returned to the fastenings of his trousers, fumbling for a moment before he caught her wrist with a chuckle that was all heat. “Impatient as ever, vhenan,” he teased, his voice thick with affection.
She grinned wickedly. “You’ve had years to get ready for this. I’d say I’m long overdue.”
His laughter was cut short as she pressed her hips up against his, stealing his breath and his focus. He groaned, the sound low and guttural, and the air between them turned molten. He moved quickly, divesting himself of the rest of his clothing with a fluidity that spoke of someone who’d spent far too long imagining this moment.
Mirassan’s hands roamed his now-bare body, her touch mapping every scar and hollow, her hunger growing with each discovery. He was familiar and unfamiliar all at once, achingly hard in all the right places and it only made her want him more.
Solas turned his attention to her again, his hands finding the waistband of her trousers. “May I?” he asked, his voice barely more than a growl.
“Stop asking,” she replied, lifting her hips to help him as he slid the fabric down her legs, leaving her bare beneath him.
The air was heavy with anticipation as they paused, their bodies inches apart, their gazes locked. Solas’s eyes traveled over her, taking in every curve, every scar, every part of her that was irrevocably hers.
“You are beautiful,” he whispered, the words rough with truth.
Mirassan’s breath hitched, her fingers sliding up his arms to pull him back to her. “Then stop staring and touch me, Solas.”
He didn’t need to be told twice. His hands found her waist, his lips crashing into hers as their bodies pressed together, hot and unyielding. The roughness of his skin against hers, the press of his scars to her own, only heightened the sensation, each touch a reminder of the battles they’d fought and the love they’d never let die.
Their movements grew frantic, the years of longing between them fueling their urgency. Every kiss, every touch was a reclamation, a promise, a plea. Solas’s hands gripped her hips, pulling her tighter against him, his teeth grazing her bottom lip before he kissed her again, deeper this time, as though trying to meld with her completely.
“Solas,” she gasped against his lips, her voice trembling with desire. “Now. I need-”
His response was a growl that vibrated against her skin, his body pressing her down into the soft moss as he positioned himself over her. “Vhenan,” he murmured, his voice breaking with need, “let me show you how much I’ve missed you.”
Solas’s lips captured hers in a kiss that burned with years of longing, but it wasn’t enough—not for him, not for her. He broke away, his breath hot against her lips as he trailed kisses along her jawline, down to her neck, where he nipped gently, drawing a soft gasp from her throat.
His hands skimmed her sides, fingers mapping every curve of her body, lingering on the scars he hadn’t yet had the courage to name aloud. The soft moss beneath her seemed to cradle her as his violet eyes locked with hers for a brief, intense moment before he began his descent.
The first press of his lips at the hollow of her throat sent a shiver racing through her, his mouth warm and insistent as he moved lower. He kissed the curve of her shoulder, the line of her collarbone, the swell of her breast, his tongue teasing the sensitive skin until she arched into him with a soft moan.
His hands weren’t idle, sliding down to her hips, thumbs tracing the curve of her waist as he pushed her further into the mossy bed. She felt the cool glow of her spectral arm flicker against his back as she grasped at him, trying to pull him closer even as he continued to move lower.
When his lips brushed the scar along her ribs, he paused, his breath ghosting over the jagged line. He pressed a kiss there, slow and deliberate, as if to soothe the ache of the memory. She opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat when he looked up at her, his gaze smoldering.
“Let me,” he murmured, his voice low and rough, a command and a plea all at once.
She nodded, her heart pounding as he continued his path down her body. His kisses grew wetter, more insistent, as he moved to the soft curve of her stomach, his teeth grazing her skin just enough to make her gasp. He lingered there, his hands slipping lower to part her thighs.
Mirassan’s breath hitched as he settled between her legs, his lips brushing the sensitive skin of her inner thigh. He kissed a trail there, alternating between soft, open-mouthed kisses and the occasional nip that sent sparks shooting through her. By the time he reached the apex of her thighs, she was already wet, her arousal glistening in the dim glow of the clearing. He paused, his breath warm against her core as he gazed at her, his eyes heavy with desire.
“You are perfect,” he murmured, his voice thick as he brushed his lips over her inner thigh. “Every part of you.”
Her breath hitched, her hips tilting toward him as her right hand found its way to his head, her fingers tangling in his hair. “Solas,” she gasped, her voice trembling. “Please—”
He needed no further encouragement. With a low, guttural groan, he lowered his mouth to her, his tongue sweeping over her with a slow, deliberate stroke that made her cry out.
She jerked beneath him, her hand tightening in his hair as his tongue worked her with unrelenting precision. He licked her again, his tongue dragging over her folds before circling her clit, his lips closing around it in a gentle, teasing suck that left her gasping.
Her taste flooded his senses, intoxicating and utterly hers, and he groaned against her, the vibrations sending another wave of pleasure coursing through her. He couldn’t get enough, his tongue moving greedily, licking and sucking as though he were a man starved.
“Solas,” she whimpered, her voice breaking as her hips bucked against his mouth.
His hands gripped her thighs, holding her open as he delved deeper, his tongue pressing into her entrance. The heat of her, the slickness, the way her body responded to him—it was everything, and it drove him into a frenzy.
He began to tongue-fuck her, his strokes deep and firm, his nose brushing her clit with every movement. Her cries grew louder, her body writhing beneath him, but he didn’t let up, didn’t slow. His tongue moved with a relentless rhythm, his lips and teeth teasing her just enough to keep her on the edge.
“You taste like the Fade itself,” he growled against her, his voice thick with lust. “Like magic, like life—like mine.”
She moaned, her hand tugging at his hair as she tilted her hips to give him better access. “Solas,” she gasped, her voice trembling as the pressure built, hot and consuming. “I—I’m—”
“Do it,” he murmured, his voice muffled against her. “Come for me, vhenan. I need to feel it. I need to taste it.”
His tongue worked her harder, his lips closing around her clit again as he sucked with just enough pressure to send her over the edge. Her body arched, her thighs trembling in his grip, the pleasure so intense it left her babbling.
Solas groaned as her taste flooded his mouth, his tongue moving slower now, gentler, but no less greedy. He licked her through her orgasm, savoring every drop, his hands stroking her thighs as though to soothe her trembling. Her body arched, her breath coming in desperate, uneven gasps, her release washing over her in waves so powerful they left her shaking. Solas’s hands tightened on her thighs, holding her open as he continued to feast on her, his tongue relentless even as her cries echoed through the dreamscape.
“Solas,” she whimpered, her hand threading weakly through his hair, tugging in an effort to pull him away. Her body was oversensitive, every stroke of his tongue sending white-hot jolts of pleasure through her. “Please, I—I can’t—”
A low, guttural growl rumbled from his chest, vibrating against her skin. He didn’t stop. If anything, his grip on her tightened, his tongue delving deeper as though he were determined to taste every part of her. Her body jerked, her back arching off the moss. “Solas, please!” she gasped, her voice trembling between laughter and desperation. “I want— I need you to fuck me.”
The words tore through him like a spark to dry kindling. His head lifted, his lips glistening as he stared up at her, his eyes blazing with desire. His chest heaved, his breaths uneven as he drank in her trembling form, her plea ringing in his ears.
“Vhenan,” Solas rumbled, his voice dark and raw, more animal than man as he prowled up her body. His hands dragged over her skin, gripping her hips, her waist, her ribs with a hunger that left her breathless. His lips found hers with a ferocity that stole the air from her lungs, his teeth grazing her lip before his tongue swept inside, deep and unrelenting. She tasted herself on him, salty and sweet, and the realization sent a shiver down her spine as she moaned into his mouth.
Her hand shot to his back, her nails raking down the taut muscle as she arched into him. The heat of his skin against hers only stoked the fire coursing through her, and she tugged him closer, desperate for more. “Solas,” she gasped between kisses, her voice breaking as her hips shifted against him. “I need you—I need you.”
He growled again, low and primal, his hands sliding to her thighs, spreading her wider beneath him as he settled between her legs. “You’ll have me,” he rasped, his voice frayed and breathless, his teeth grazing the curve of her jaw before biting down just hard enough to make her gasp. “Every inch of me, vhenan. You’ll take all of me.”
She whimpered, her body trembling as he shifted, his cock pressing against her entrance, teasing her, making her ache for him. His lips found hers again, devouring her in a kiss that was wild and unrelenting, his hunger bleeding into every movement. When he finally sank into her, slow but relentless, the feel of her around him stole every ounce of breath from his chest. His eyes squeezed shut, a shudder wracking his entire body as he buried himself to the hilt.
Solas groaned as he pulled back just enough to meet her gaze. His eyes burned as he relish the feel of her squeezing him. “You feel—” he growled, his voice ragged, his hands gripping her thighs to hold her in place—“like you were made for me. Mine, Mirassan. You’re mine.”
She could barely think, her body rising to meet his with every thrust, her fingers clawing at his shoulders as her head tilted back, exposing her throat. “Yours,” she gasped, her voice breaking on the word. “Now, move.”
The growl that tore from his chest was almost a snarl, his lips finding the delicate curve of her neck as his body drove into hers with unrelenting intensity. His movements were wild and frenzied, like a man who’d been denied for too long and was finally taking what he’d craved. And still, she wanted more—more of him, more of the heat and fire that burned them both.
Mirassan cried out, her nails raking down his back as she arched into him, meeting him with equal fervor. “Solas,” she gasped, her voice breathless and filled with wonder. “You feel—fuck—you feel so good.”
Her words spurred him on, his control fraying as his body drove into hers with an intensity that was almost feral. His teeth found the curve of her shoulder, biting down just enough to leave a mark, his growl vibrating against her skin.
“You are mine,” he rasped, his voice guttural, his thrusts growing erratic. “Do you understand? Mine, Mirassan. No one else. Only me.”
“Yes,” she gasped, her hands clutching at his shoulders, pulling him closer. “Always yours, Solas.”
Her words sent a shiver through him, and his hands moved to cradle her face as he kissed her fiercely, his thrusts never slowing. “Say it again,” he demanded against her lips, his voice shaking with desperation.
“Yours,” she repeated, her voice breaking into a moan as he hit deeper, harder. “I’m yours, Solas. I always have been.”
“Vhenan,” he murmured against her lips, his voice breaking as his rhythm grew erratic. His hands slid up her body, cupping her face as he pulled back just enough to look at her. His eyes blazed with something feral, desperate, and wholly hers. “Say it,” he pleaded, his breath ragged. “Tell me I can—tell me you want me to.”
Mirassan’s smile was equal parts adoration and wickedness as she pulled him closer, her nails dragging down his back as she kissed his jaw. “You don’t finish until I say so,” she whispered, her voice trembling with pleasure.
The tension in his body was palpable, his movements growing rougher, more desperate, as he tried to hold himself back. He buried his face in her neck, his teeth worrying her skin, his whimpers muffled against her as he clung to her words like a lifeline.
“Please,” he groaned, his voice raw with need. “Mirassan, I can’t—”
“Not yet,” she teased, her body arching beneath him, meeting his every thrust with equal fervor. “Not until I say.”
He snarled, a sound that sent shivers down her spine, his hands tightening on her hips as he drove into her with even more force, as though determined to consume her completely. The Fade around them pulsed with their rhythm, the light of the clearing flaring brighter as their bodies moved in perfect harmony.
“Solas,” she gasped, her voice breaking as she felt the edge of another orgasm building, overwhelming and unstoppable. “Now—now, please—”
A shudder ran through him, and he let out a sound that was more howl than moan, his body driving into hers one final time as he obeyed her command. His release hit him like a wave, his movements slowing as he buried himself as deeply as he could. Mirassan moaned, her body trembling as she felt him spill into her, the heat of him marking her, claiming her, and it only drove her over the edge again. She clung to him, her voice a mix of gasps and his name.
Mirassan held him close, her fingers stroking the back of his neck as he collapsed against her, his breathing ragged and uneven. “Good,” she whispered, her lips brushing his temple. “So good, Solas.”
When they finally stilled, their bodies entwined, their breaths soft and even, Mirassan looked down at him, her fingers teasing his ears. “Promise me,” she whispered.
His brow furrowed slightly, and he rose to press his forehead to hers. “Anything, vhenan.”
“Stay,” she said, her voice trembling. “No more leaving, no more regrets. Just stay with me.”
His eyes closed, his breath shuddering as he nodded. “I am yours,” he said, his voice breaking. “And I will stay, Mirassan. For as long as you will have me.”
She smiled, pulling him into a soft, lingering kiss, her hands tangling in his hair. “Then we have eternity,” she whispered against his lips.
And as the Fade held them in its quiet embrace, their souls entwined, the weight of the past melted away, leaving only the promise of a future built on love, devotion, and the certainty that they had finally found their way back to one another.
