Into the snare

Summary:

While a guest on Thousand Sunny, Law walks in on a scene that could only have come from a fever dream.

Law needed to touch, needed to feel the smooth glide of Luffy’s skin and tease his scorched senses and make him cry out as prettily as he did under Roronoa’s manipulations. Law needed to hurt, too, to claw evidence of his tempered yearning from the last two years into the lines of Straw Hat’s throat. Maybe it wasn’t too late to wring the boy’s neck, to smother that burning, indomitable spirit so Law could cease risking everything for the want of him.

(Part one of a three-part series that looks at Luffy’s evolving relationships with the three men who love him dearly. It’s smut with a lot of squishy feelings. Mind the tags.)

Notes:

I pounded this out (HAH) in less than 2 days so don't worry, writing this did not interfere with progress on my WIPs.

Work Text:

The first time they met, Straw Hat Luffy was seventeen years old. He was brash, wild, all coiled power and unrestrained instinct. That much was immediately clear when he punched a Celestial Dragon in the face.

He lit up Law’s vision, a flash of blue that flickered into view and refused to go away. Nothing about his stature — slim built, twig-like — should have left an impression. Yet, the boy drew light to himself wherever he went. The shadow of his dauntless smile haunted Law’s daydreams — a specter he could not exorcise.

Watching Straw Hat’s exploits on Marineford from afar left a bitter-sweet taste in Law’s mouth so strong he choked on it. Never had Law lost such control over himself as when the video feed cut out and he ordered Bepo to turn Polar Tang around.

He had to get there. To do what, he did not know. For once, Law had no scheme, no stratagem, no far-sighted goal. There were no chess pieces at play when he claimed Straw Hat’s unconscious body from Buggy the Clown.

Before heading into the surgical suite, he heard Jean Bart ask Bepo whether Law was going to kill Straw Hat. It would have been wise to eliminate this formidable challenger to the One Piece at his most vulnerable. But Bepo told Jean Bart his captain wasn’t that type of man, and Law realized, even as he held a scalpel to Straw Hat’s chest, that thought hadn’t entered his mind at all.

Sitting on a beach at Amazon Lily, Law had no explanation for his baffled crew as to why they were there. He could only hold on to that famous straw hat, his fingers scorched by the memory of rubbery skin, hot with fever but alive.

It was all a whim, Law told Rayleigh. It was a doctor’s duty to save a life, he told the Kuja Pirates. Now, Straw Hat owed him one, he told himself.

For the next two years, Law did not see or hear of Monkey D. Luffy. He certainly endeavored not to think of the boy either. There were far more critical matters at stake, fiery vengeance a decade in the making ready to be ignited.

Except, when Law tried to recall Corazon’s last smile, recall the reason for this suicide mission, a different grin would superimpose itself upon his most precious memory. The phantom grin upset his heart rate and sent waves rolling in his stomach; to his horror, it even jostled Law’s tight grip on the strings of his master plan.

Then, after two years, Law saw that grin again. It danced in icy reflections on the frozen snow banks of Punk Hazard, slightly older and ever so devastating. To be on the receiving end of that smile was to be held under its spell forever, Law understood too late.

He could still remember holding Straw Hat’s life in his hands. He wondered how it’d feel to hold the boy’s heart.

Seeing Straw Hat there forced Law to look inward, deeper than he had in a long time. What he found was a terrifyingly primal desire to keep Straw Hat close at all cost.

As a rule, Law shunned those impulses. Law would not be distracted by his basest needs. He fell back on logic instead, and logic dictated that he could use a strong ally to get him to the Joker, and there was no better candidate than an ally who owed him a life-debt.

In the shadow of logic, a smaller voice demanded that Law stop lying to himself. But that voice was easy to ignore in the midst of howling wind and billowing snow.

Caution — Law’s mind urged. Straw Hat’s crew demanded the same of their unruly captain. But the boy simply smiled again, his gaze on Law burning like a supernova, and said, “I trust him. He’s a good guy.”

Law's head and heart tumbled. He fell into an awaiting snare, and no amount of preparation would have been sufficient enough to slow his descent.

Away from Punk Hazard, the deck of the Thousand Sunny was rowdy yet cozy. Law had space and time to contemplate far too many thoughts at once — a rather dangerous preoccupation.

In Straw Hat’s constant vicinity, irritation and fondness grew in equal measure. The other captain insisted on calling Law by a silly sobriquet, which provoked in Law an unrelenting compulsion to see whether he could bite his full name, secret “D” included, into the skin of Straw Hat’s neck.

Such temptations shamed him. Straw Hat was not yet twenty and guileless to a fault. On his ship where he was the most free, his laughter flowed unsullied by trauma or regret or any of the terrors that kept Law awake at night. Law knew he should stay away from the boy’s sunshine grace, but the warmth was inexorable, and Law was torn between needing to drown in it and wanting to smother it.

This would all end soon, Law comforted himself, likely with his death. So he let himself dream a while longer. Dreams were safely confined to their own realm. Dreaming never hurt anyone.

Thousand Sunny was hit by a torrential downpour the night before they were scheduled to reach Dressrosa. Law was awakened from his sleep by Caesar Clown’s indignant screech and the cold rain on his cheek. He ignored Caesar’s demands to be brought indoors, recalled the tour of the ship that was forced on him by Straw Hat’s shipwright, and summoned a quick Room.

Focused entirely on getting out of the pouring rain, Law only registered the presence of three bodies after he swapped himself with the first object he sensed inside Franky’s workshop. Upon his reappearance, the ship swayed awfully in the roiling sea, and with it, Law lost his footing at the sight he was met with.

On the open floor of the neatly arranged workshop, a naked Monkey D. Luffy sat on the lap of an equally naked Pirate Hunter Zoro. While his back was pasted to his swordsman’s chest, Luffy’s head was craned upward, his mouth sheathed the entirety of his cook’s cock. Blackfoot Sanji stood before his two crew mates, mostly dressed except for the unbuttoned trousers pooled around his ankles.

It took less than a second before they sensed him, but that was enough time for Law to take in everything.

Like Roronoa kneeling with his legs splayed, hips grinding an ageless rhythm into his captain's backside; his biceps, thick and trembling, encasing Luffy’s arms and torso with careful strength; his head, bowed low so he could reach his lover’s shoulder with kisses as soft and reverent as worship…

Or like Blackfoot’s left hand, a vice in his captain’s hair, pulling Luffy along to a pace that gratified him; the fingers of his right hand aimlessly stroking the side of Luffy’s cheek; his blond head bent back, eyes squeezed shut and mouth agape in silent screams of pleasure…

Or Luffy, just Luffy, from whom Law cruelly tore his eyes away the instant he’d understood the situation, but it was still too late because the image of him between the two men had already seared an indelible facsimile on Law’s brain…

Shit,” someone yelled.

There was a small scramble. Law blinked, and Blackfoot had pulled away from Luffy and pulled up his pants.

On the floor, Roronoa covered Luffy’s front with his discarded robe. He did not otherwise move, and it was apparent he and Luffy were still in a compromising position.

“Shit,” Blackfoot cursed again. “Don’t fucking do that without warning, Law.” He threw behind a disgruntled glare and stomped out of the workshop without saying anything to his nighttime companions.

As Blackfoot’s retreating back disappeared out the door, Luffy twisted his neck to look at Roronoa and whimpered, voice hoarse and pathetic, “Sanji…”

Roronoa seemed to read his mind. He comforted, “He’ll be grumpy for a few days. But he’ll come back.”

To Law, Roronoa was nowhere near as kind.

“This is the part where you say sorry for the intrusion and leave.”

“I… I’m looking for a dry place to sleep.” Law didn’t know why he was offering an explanation rather than an apology, or why it felt as though his legs suddenly grew roots.

A loud silence stretched between them. While Roronoa examined Law with one raised eyebrow, his captain, never one for sitting still, began to squirm.

“Zoro…” that uncharacteristically small voice whined yet again. Law shivered at its raspiness; his eyes, heedless of his teetering self-control, landed on Straw Hat and refused to be moved.

Roronoa turned his attention back to the needy, moaning embodiment of temptation writhing in his lap. He nipped at the tip of Luffy’s ear and chided, “You’re being greedy again, Captain.”

“Zoro…”

Law couldn’t decipher all the sentiments underlying that one word – he still couldn’t understand why he wasn’t leaving – but Roronoa clearly did.

Roronoa scoffed, rolled his eyes at Law, and said, “Fine, since no one’s forcing him to stay. As you will, Captain.”

In one smooth motion, Roronoa ripped off the robe he’d covered Luffy with, lifted Luffy’s right leg, and maneuvered him until they faced each other, still intimately attached. The expansive muscles on Roronoa’s back flexed and rippled as he manhandled the smaller man. He surged up supporting Straw Hat’s entire body weight, the boy’s legs wrapped securely around his thick waist, and set Luffy’s back gently on the floor.

Roronoa set upon his prize with nary a pause, powerful thighs worked between quivering knees to deliver strokes hard enough to bruise. A quiet, breathless keening grew louder and louder with each thrust until it became rambling sobs that would echo in Law’s head until the end of time.

A sword-calloused hand seized Luffy’s chin and forcibly turned his head. Law found his gaze locked to Straw Hat’s dazed brown eyes, which moved as his whole body was moved to the tempo of Roronoa’s ferocity.

Law's heart would cease to beat before he could find strength enough to look away.

The swordsman shifted again. Holding up his own torso with a singular arm, he reached between them to take Luffy in hand and began to stroke. Luffy jerked up as though electrified by the touch. He cried out, tense and wanton, his head thrown back to thump painfully against the floorboards.

Their eye contact was broken. Air rushed back into Law’s lungs as he belatedly registered the dark spots dancing in his vision.

Before him, just barely out of reach, Roronoa chuckled at Law’s sudden inhale. When he was done laughing, Roronoa dug his nose into the crook of Luffy’s neck, forcing Luffy to turn his head and face Law once again.

Between bites and kisses, Roronoa said loud enough for Law to hear, “He wants to see you, Captain. Look at him. He wants to touch you. He wants to fuck you. He’s gonna cream his pants just watching you.”

Profanity-riddled retorts gathered on Law’s tongue, but he voiced none of them. Luffy was looking at him again. His hazy eyes were now accompanied by a small, sweet smile. A lanky arm snaked forward, palm turned upward in an invitation.

Unthinking, Law inched close until he could smell the sweat of Roronoa’s labor and see the whiteness of Luffy’s nails on the hand that gripped Roronoa like a lifeline. He knelt beside the couple and took the hand that was offered within his own.

Luffy’s sweet, soft smile grew to reach his blissed-out eyes. Roronoa picked up his pace, working on Luffy simultaneously from the front and back. The cramped workshop was suffused with insensible sighs and whimpers and gasps and half-broken evocations of Roronoa’s name. But Luffy’s eyes stayed on Law.

“Fuck,” Roronoa cursed after a particularly vigorous bout of thrusting that brought Luffy to the edge. He sat up, panting, and ordered, “What’re you waitin’ for, O Mighty Warlord? Kiss him already.”

Every word out of Roronoa’s mouth was designed to irk Law, but this time, Law eagerly obeyed.

Leaning over Luffy, Law swallowed the boy’s next breath with a devouring kiss. The deep moan he received in response summoned an answering grunt from the depth of his chest. An inquisitive tongue tested the extent of his limits. He met it, selfish and greedy in a way he had never allowed himself to be.

Maybe it wasn’t too late to wring the boy’s neck, smother that burning, indomitable spirit so Law could cease risking everything for the want of him.

In the end, Law did nothing. He clutched both of Straw Hat’s hands in an act of restraint, and instead of biting his endless appetite into Luffy’s lips, Law hid his fangs and cooled the heat of their kiss.

Gently, softly, he drank in Straw Hat’s aching pleads for release. Out of sight, Roronoa’s voice rumbled harshly, “Let go, Luffy. Come for us.”

Law felt the first shuddering exhales that signaled Luffy’s orgasm, followed by the incoherent mumblings of pure satisfaction. He kissed Luffy through the waves and hated himself for falling even deeper.

He let go when Luffy’s breathing finally slowed, and he barely got out of the way in time before Roronoa pulled Luffy back up and said, “There, ya spoiled brat. Enough indulgence for today.”

They were the last words Roronoa said that night. What followed could only be deemed a claiming.

Roronoa lifted Straw Hat with wide palms over the curves of his captain’s ass, squeezing so harshly he’d surely have left imprints for days, and speared the boy upon his own cock over and over and over. Luffy wound his arms helplessly around his swordsman’s neck. Overstimulated with sensations, he could do little more than beg and cry.

Law could not see Luffy’s face anymore. Roronoa’s eyes bore into him; the younger swordsman wore a smile that looked almost cruel. His eyes pointedly flickered to Law’s erection, which had been pulsating painfully inside his pants for a while now.

It was another order. Or a challenge, perhaps.

Law let the impertinence slide. He was focused on freeing his cock and stroking it to the pace of Luffy being subjugated to Roronoa’s impatient hunger. It was inelegant and shameful and not nearly enough to sate his desires, but from where he stood, it was also too easy to watch and imagine himself taking Roronoa’s place.

Pirate Hunter’s infamous shark-like grin mocked Law even as he ruined Luffy without end or mercy. Law panted harshly with each breath. Luffy’s beautiful screams of pleasure spurred him on.

He didn’t last long after that. He had no chance. The sounds and smells and alluring dips in Luffy’s lower back and ghosts of their shared kiss laid siege to his hyperaware senses. Thoroughly shattered, Law could not stop himself from uttering a trembling “Luffy” as he came into his hand.

At the sound of his name, Straw Hat made to turn around. Before he could, Roronoa captured his lips and left no room for thoughts of Law. The two of them disappeared into their coupling. An invisible wall seemed to have risen in the room, and though Luffy was close enough to touch, Law could not reach him.

The sound of the rain had died out. Law cleaned up as fast as he could. He left without looking back.

Notes:

I have two continuations planned from Zoro's and Sanji's perspectives. (Big apologies to Sanji this time for the blue balls.) Will write them when the next smutty mood arrives. Happy Holidays!
