Buck had just about enough of this. He glared over at where Eddie was helping out Hen and Chim with some patients. The guy Eddie was helping was making eyes at him but the older man didn't seem to notice. Buck clenched his jaw. This is why he hated when Bobby separated them so much! God, why couldn't Eddie just stick to firefighting, leave the paramedic stuff Hen and Chim, maybe Ravi or literally anyone else? Maybe Buck should take the paramedics test? Then he and Eddie could be partners in everything and they'd never be apart ever again.
"Buck! That all of 'em?"
Buck slid his gaze over to Bobby with a nod before silently glaring over at where that same Guy from earlier (yes, he was capital G guy now) had his slimy fingers wrapped around Eddie's forearm, unable to wrap around the bulging muscle completely, smiling all flirty while making aggressive eye contact.
Buck blinked suprised when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Great, then go help the others by taking care of the minor injuries."
"Right, I'm on it Cap."
Buck stalked over to Eddie, eyes never leaving the indulgent smile on Eddie's face as The Guy was wriggling his eyebrows.
Buck scoffed, muttering a "What a cliche."
Except. Maybe not? Because Eddie was smiling his 'Buck' smile. The fond indulgent smile he only ever had for when Buck was being ridiculous. What the hell was even happening over there? Buck quickened his pace, startling Eddie when he put his hand on the older man's shoulder.
"Hey, Eds! Where do you need me?"
Eddie blinked at him bemusedly.
The Guy frowned at Buck and Buck frowned right back.
"Right now? Getting out of those turnouts-"
'That can be arranged.' Buck thought flirtatiously. Damn, back on his fuckboy bullshit.
"-and sanitized before you touch anyone. And you should probably ask Hen where you're needed, she's the one in charge right now."
Buck frowned. The Guy was looking all smug for some reason. Weirdo.
"But we're partners. We always work together."
There was that 'Buck' smile again. At least it was pointed at the right person this time.
"Yes, when we're running into burning buildings or scaling heights, but usually I'm with Hen or Chim or both when they need an extra set of hands."
Buck frowned harder, worry coursing in his veins for some unexplained reason. "But-"
"No buts, Buckley. Go get cleaned up and report back to Hen." Eddie's voice was stern but he was smiling in amusement, clearly joking.
Buck glared down at The Guy who stared innocently back at him, still rubbing at Eddie's forearm with his goddamn thumb. Super unprofessional, he was gonna have Bobby come over and make sure this dude knew how inappropriate it was to objectify a first responder who had come to his aid.
"Whatever."
He turned and walked off, ignoring Eddie's bewildered "Hey man, what the hell?"
He glared over his shoulder, only glaring harder when he realised Eddie was laughing with The Guy, fondly shaking his head. Laughing about Buck then. Whatever. That was fine.
Buck found Bobby briefing with dispatch via his radio, asking for additional units but letting them know it was nothing serious. He waited until Bobby was done, stripping off his coat and gloves in the meantime.
"Hey, Bobby, you gotta go save Eddie from that vic, he keeps touching Eddie and its making him super uncomfortable."
Bobby frowned in that protective way of his, knowing how often his team gets harrased by the public. He glanced over at Eddie for a minute before turning his attention to Buck in an embarrassed manner.
"Actually, I think maybe Eddie's the one I'll need to have a talk with."
Buck frowned (he was gonna have so many wrinkles from today alone) and turned to see what Bobby was talking about.
Eddie was stood between The Guys legs, one hand caressing The Guys face and the other on The Guys fucking bicep (way smaller than Bucks, by the way). They were smiling softly at each other and The Fucking Guy had his hand on Bucks Eddies waist. What Fresh Hell Is This.
Buck stood and all but sprinted over, crashing into Eddie's back and pushing him further into The Guy causing the homewrecker to cling to Eddie's front to avoid falling backwards.
"Ow!"
"Buck, what the hell?!"
Buck pouted, feeling conlicted as he noticed everyone looking over at them, weirdly happy that Eddie at least recognized the feel of Buck at his back without having to look.
"You're being really inappropriate with the vic and need to step back-"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Eddie twisted in his hood to glare up at him.
"What the hell is going on here?" Hen called from the side as she stepped closer.
"Firefighter Buckley!" Bobby called out. Crap.
Buck pushed back from Eddie, stomping his way back to Bobby with his head hung low, not even looking where he was going and just staring at the ground as he went.
"The heck was that about?" Buck heard Chimney ask Hen and Eddie before he stepped out of earshot.
"He was acting weird earlier too." Eddie grumbled as he pushed away from the victim, peeling the man's hands off as he stepped away after making sure he was no worse for ware than before.
"Weird? Weird how?" Hen asked suspiciously with that intense, curious look of hers, her eyebrow raised.
Eddie gestured wildly with one hand as he used the other to pull his patient up and gently nudge him away, Chim handing the man some over the counter pain killers as he blinked in confusion while he was being completely ignored by all the medics on site at the moment.
"He was all-"
"Um." Everyone paused to look at the victim who was staring wildly between Eddie and the packet of meds in his hand.
"Oh, right, you were right earlier when you said you were fine, I'd still suggest getting checked out at the hospital but otherwise you're good to go, instructions are on the back, good day." Eddie smiled politely before turning back to his co-workers.
"Actually- I was just wondering if you, you know, wanted to grab dinner with me some time?"
Eddie blinked in confusion.
"I don't usually hang out with patients I meet on the job."
The victim looked at Eddie weirdly, looking at Hens pained expression and Chims confused one before settling on Eddie's strange one.
"No- no, I meant like... as a date?"
Hen turned her head away with a disgruntled, pained sound, Chims eyes widened comically as he looked between Eddie and the stranger, and Eddie- Eddie smiled politely.
"Oh, no, sorry sir, I'm not gay."
