Work Text:
The panicked bot ran. Turning corners and jumping over things that were left on the ground by- someone? He didn't know. He didn't understand.
Where was he?
Why was he running?
And why was it so blurry?
He didn't like it. Not at all. But his body wouldn't listen- couldn't stop running. And now that he was paying attention to his surroundings, he thought he could hear the distant sound of things being hit and turned over. That got him even more concerned.
It wasn't until he felt something wet go down his face, did he realize the reason his vision was blurry.
He was crying?
Why was he crying?
That wasn't like him.
But, what was like him?
He didn't know the answer to that question.
He turned a sharp corner, only to run face first into someone, making him fall to the ground.
He groaned, glancing up through teary eyes only to see a blurry figure. He could pick out bits of blue and silver on the figures color scheme, and also what seemed to be two, glowing red eyes.
It was too blurry for him to know who it was or what they were doing- but what he did know is that he should most likely get up and keep running.
He was confused, and his mind was practically shrieking at him to get out of there, but his body wouldn’t listen- he was frozen and tense, eyes wide and tears pausing in fear, just enough for him to make out that the figure was wearing a long hat covered in- yellow blobs? They might be something else but his vision was still too blurry for him to make out any smaller details. But the hat seemed run down and ripped, with what he thinks are holes all over it.
His mind kept screaming at him to get up and run.
But it was too late by the time he unfroze from his frozen state and started scrambling up- as the moment legs started moving, something struck his head. He could feel something wet dripping from where he had been hit. Before he could even react again, he was hit again- and again- and again-
And-

Solar woke up with a start, tears rolling down his faceplate as he took in gulps of air, unable to get enough while also getting too much. He didn't need air, he knew that, but it felt Comforting either way. He had a huge headache as well.
After a couple more deep breaths he managed to calm down enough for the tears to stop and for his headache to subdue slightly. He was finally able to analyze the situation- he could finally remember who was the figure in the dream and why he was running in the first place.
A nightmare.
And about his Moon no less.
He hasn’t had one of those in a while.
He remembered the first few weeks of being in his new home. How absolutely terrified he had been, even if he hadn’t shown it. He had been terrified of his Moon tracking him down and taking him back to his home dimension- or worse, what if he hurt someone? Like Lunar or Moon? Solar couldn’t let that happen- but he also didn’t know how to stop it from happening.
And so, from that first day he stepped on his new home, he had been having the most gruesome nightmares, which is mostly why he chose to work, instead of resting.
It wasn’t until Moon had forced him to sleep- stayed with him to make sure he really slept- that someone had seen him having a nightmare.
Moon had then found out that cuddling really helped, and by really, he meant Solar would almost completely calm down the moment he had something to cling to.
The next morning had been pretty awkward, but from then on, a routine had been set.
So, anytime Solar wanted to sleep- or was told to sleep- he would set off to find someone to cuddle, whether that be Moon, Sun, Earth, or even Lunar would get trapped in a cuddle.
Eclipse had also been a victim of Solar's cuddle traps. It was never spoken of, or even seen, but Eclipse was one of the ones Solar seeked out the most. Apparently he was warmer than Sun was, and Solar enjoyed that.
Bloodmoon had been forced into a cuddle once while they had been working with Solar, but he wasn’t exactly the best cuddle buddy, bit Solar the first time.
After the whole virus thing with Ruin, the newly fixed animatronic had been chosen a couple times. Solar had once mentioned Ruin was the perfect temperature, an even mix of hot and cold.
Moon had ended up making him a plush with a warmer and cooler in it, as he had noticed that Solar would choose someone specific depending on the weather. If it was a hot day, he’d usually seek out the lunar models like Moon or Lunar- since lunar models are made to be colder, while, if it was more of cold day, He’d look for solar models like Sun or Eclipse since they were designed to be warmer. While, if it was a normal, lukewarm day, he’d go and search for animatronics like Earth or Ruin as they had a perfect, even temperature, not too cold and not too hot.
But the problem was that today, he had lost the plush, but managed to convince himself he could sleep without it. And he didn’t want to bother anyone else.
But alas, he was wrong to think he could sleep without the plush.
And he wasn’t sure if he should ask Moon to cuddle with him. What if Moon got mad at him or something?
The nightmare was still fresh in his mind, and he couldn't shake the feeling of Moon hitting him because of something like this.
He shook his head, reminding himself that this wasn’t his Moon- this was a different, much nicer Moon.
So, the decision was set.
Solar scrambled off the bed- only to fall face first onto the floor, a soft thud sounding. He quickly chambered back up the bed, holding himself steady until his legs adjusted to standing.
He sighed huffing as he slowly let go of the bed and started tiptoeing out of his room.
He tensed up as the floor creaked under him, but once he knew nobody would wake up, he quickly made his way to Moon's room.
He smiled happily once he saw the door cracked open, quickly slipping inside.
Right as he turned around, he bumped into someone, and his legs were still asleep it seemed, as he slipped back- only to be caught by a pair of silver hands.
“Moon?” His gruff voice called out. Jeez this room was dark.
“Yea, it's me” Moon hummed, dragging him into the bed amd wrapping himself around the orange bot.
“You don't mind if-”
“nah, it's fine, I needed someone to cuddle anyway” Moon interrupted, nuzzling his cheek softly.
Solar hummed, happily relaxing against the silver and blue bot, closing his eyes as he let sleep overtake him.

Solar woke up, relaxed and well rested, cuddling something warm.
Wait a second, Moon isn't warm- oh.
He blinked at the yellow chest he was pressed against. Huh.
He carefully squirmed out of his grip- took a little but he got out of his grip. He looked around, only to notice a sticky note put on Sun's forehead.
He gently grabbed it and started reading it.
‘hey Sol, I decided to make breakfast, or at least try to, but I couldn't find you plush anywhere near you, so I got Sun to cuddle you instead so I could slip away.
hope you got a good night's sleep - your best friend, Moon’
“Huh.” Solar smiled happily, deciding he could rest a little more as he squirmed back into Suns embrace, eyes closing as he fell back into the comfort of sleep.
