Work Text:

The day had started late for Nani, not out of laziness, but because of that slow lingering under the covers that happens when you don't really want to face the silence of a house that feels too empty, when every room, no matter how tidy, seems to whisper the absence of someone. He had turned on some soft music in the background, delicate tunes with light voices blending into a muffled atmosphere, and had thrown himself into house chores as if, by scrubbing surfaces and putting things back in place, he could somehow bring order to himself as well.

Ever since the agency had told him that his event in Qingdao had been canceled, because of a mistake that still burned on his skin like a sunburn, Nani had felt trapped, as if his presence had suddenly become inconvenient, even to those fans who had never stopped supporting him. An Instagram story, barely a few minutes long, maybe even less, where he had, naively, left the Taiwanese flag visible during a trip to Taipei; a careless moment, deleted shortly after, but one that hadn’t gone unnoticed in China. It didn’t take many words to explain how certain things are read under the rigid lens of diplomacy: that single, seemingly innocent gesture had been enough to see him vanish from the official schedule.

So, while Sky had flown to Qingdao, swept up in the warmth of the crowd, the adrenaline of signing autographs, doing interviews, handing out forced smiles even when fatigue crept under his eyes, Nani had stayed in Bangkok, in his tidy apartment, the curtains slightly drawn back to let in the golden light of the afternoon. He had spent hours fluffing the couch cushions, emptying old drawers, rereading past messages Sky had left him at random times, with that unspoken sweetness, that whispered familiarity, that only those who love in silence can truly understand.

Every now and then, he would pick up his phone and open Instagram, scrolling through stories to see if he could catch a glimpse of Sky’s chubby face buried in microphones while being bombarded with questions, and he wondered if Sky, between one photo and the next, ever thought about how strange it felt to be there without Nani. There had been no messages or calls that day, and Nani tried not to make a tragedy out of it, because he knew that frantic rhythm all too well, that race against time that became the only constant in events like that.

But then, among the clips circulating online, he had seen part of the interview. A journalist, smiling with fake lightness, had asked about Nani. “Do you miss him?” she said, as if she didn’t know how sharp that question could be in such a delicate moment.
Sky had lowered his gaze just for a moment, lips curving into a carefully measured smile.
“We’re both very busy,” he replied, leaving a sentence hanging in the air that could mean everything or nothing. Then, in a softer tone, he added:
“It’s easier when we’re together, and it’s something you feel more when he’s not with me, yes.”

That was enough for Nani to understand that Sky was protecting what they had, without hiding them. Guarding, without denying the truth of their bond. It wasn’t silence born of disinterest, nor was it distance: it was the promise made under the cloudy sky of Chiang Mai, clinging to each other with the awareness that what truly mattered wasn’t showing it off, but treasuring it.
“Private but not secret.”
A phrase Nani repeated to himself often, almost like a mantra, like a small refuge on days when loneliness seemed to take over.

That night, he had fallen asleep with his phone nearby, not to wait for a message, but to feel, at least that way, that an invisible thread still connected him to Sky, wherever he was. And even if no notification arrived, Nani knew that silence, sometimes, is not absence, but care.

***

The soft sound of a notification buzzed on the pillow, a tiny tremor that disturbed the quiet of the dark room. Nani turned in bed, half asleep, his hand drowsily fumbling for the phone. The screen lit up the darkness with a gentle glow, and through heavy eyelids, he saw the name that, even in the dead of night, could warm his heart.

Sky:
You sleeping, be?

He smiled, like every time he read that nickname. Once, Sky used to call him “Nì,” with the careless naturalness of the early days, when everything between them was still new and full of uncertainty. Then, almost without realizing it, he had started calling him “be”, a sweet, unintentional shortening of “babe,” spoken with that affectionate lightness that tried to go unnoticed, as if even Sky didn’t realize how much love slipped into those two letters. Nani had noticed it the first time, oh, he had noticed.
“Be?” he had said with a playful tone, a tender tease. “You thought I wouldn’t notice how you casually decided to upgrade me, huh?” Sky had turned beet red. He tried to deflect, to pretend it was nothing, but from that day on, every time he called him that, something in Nani’s stomach rolled over, warm and confused, like a wave of happiness with nowhere to land.

“But seriously, why ‘be'?” he had asked the second time Sky had let it slip.
They were in bed, tangled in skin and sheets. They had just made love, and Sky hadn’t stopped using the pet name.
“May I remind you,” Nani said, tracing a finger over the halo of his nipple, “that if I wanted to, you’d have to address me as your Phi.”
Sky shuddered, still sensitive to Nani’s touch after the pleasure that had just washed over them. He moved slowly but didn’t pull away, perhaps because the idea of calling each other publicly “brother,” elder and younger, had never appealed to him. And ever since he had made a home between Nani’s thighs, he had a feeling why.
“Because when you hide behind me, you disappear. Barely five centimeters between us, but you’re so small that when I see certain videos of us, I get struck by an arrow of tenderness straight to the chest.”
Nani had scoffed and giggled, curling up on Sky’s broad chest.
“I don’t do it just for fun, when I hide behind your back…it’s to cover my face while I’m remembering certain moments together... They’d figure it out right away. They couldn’t even imagine what you do to me when we’re home.”
Sky had felt proud and full of love at those words. He turned to face Nani, lying on his side, smirking, ready to pounce like a feline on its prey.
“Oh? And what exactly
do I do to you, Nani?”
Nani’s eyes widened as he placed both hands on Sky’s shoulders, maybe to stop him, or maybe to tempt him, since that was Sky’s most sensitive spot.
“Oh, Sky, please... I haven’t even caught my breath yet…”
“And who said you need breath for what I’m about to do?”
With the mischief of a fox, Sky slipped under the sheets.

With fingers still clumsy from sleep, he replied.

Nani:
Mmm... I was in REM phase 😴 but for you, I could be reborn.

Sky saw the message instantly. He didn’t reply with his usual emojis, but with a long text that seemed to carry the weight of an overly packed day.

Sky:
I’m sorry I didn’t text you earlier… Today was a mess. I’ve never signed so many posters in my life. My fingers hurt, and so does my jaw, from smiling so much. But now I’m finally at the hotel. Alone. And the first thing I wanted to do… was write to you.

Nani:
Alone? Like me then. Alone and tired too?

Sky:
Alone and tired, but the thought of you is keeping me more awake than any tea could. I miss your face. Like, I really miss looking at you. Even just for two minutes.

The next notification wasn’t a message, but a video call request.

Nani hesitated just a second, just enough to run a hand through his messy hair, then hit “accept”, heart pounding harder than it should have been at that late hour.

The screen lit up, and the first thing he saw was Sky’s face, tired, tousled, with the soft lights of the hotel room glowing behind him. He had light shadows under his eyes and a tender, vulnerable expression, the kind he only showed when he felt truly safe.

“Hey,” Sky murmured, his voice hoarse from talking too much all day.

“Hey you,” Nani replied, still half-laying on the pillow, his cheek pressed into it, eyes shining with sleep and happiness.

“You look like a kitten who just had a bath,” Sky said with a faint smile.

“And you look like a hero back from war.”

They looked at each other in silence for a few seconds, as if just seeing each other was more important than any words.

“I missed you like hell today,” Sky confessed, his voice dropping like he was sharing a secret. “When they asked about you, I thought I shouldn’t say anything. But inside I was screaming your name.”

Nani smiled softly. “Then make me a promise,” he said, adjusting the phone against his chest. “That you’ll keep calling me ‘be’ even when we’re old and tired like we are now.”

Sky laughed, a low, tender sound. “It’s already yours. Forever.”

“You in bed?” Nani asked, changing the subject, clumsily, because his heart couldn’t take much more of that sweetness. His voice was still heavy with sleep, but full of that tenderness that only slipped out with Sky, only in those slow moments when the world seemed far away and fragile.

Sky nodded slightly, resting the phone on his chest, tilted just enough to show the hotel ceiling above and a corner of the white bedsheet pulled up to his chin. “Yeah. And I’m about to melt. I swear. I feel like a mochi left in the sun.”

Nani giggled softly, the kind of laugh that rises from the ribs and dies quickly, not to break the intimacy of the night. “My poor mochi. Do you need a spoon to scoop you up?”

“No, just your voice,” Sky whispered, closing his eyes for a moment. “I swear I miss having you next to me so much. I miss waking up with you looking at me like the world’s a little less tired. I miss how you roll over in your sleep and mumble weird things. I even miss when you steal the blanket.”

Nani snuggled deeper into his duvet, trying to hide the blush rising to his cheeks. “I don’t steal the blanket, it’s the blanket that chooses which side to be on.”

Sky opened his eyes again and smiled, that slow smile that always made something inside Nani tremble. “I’ll get back to the hotel late tomorrow, but if I can… I’ll text you again, okay? Just to hear you breathe. Even in silence.”

“Even if I’m asleep?”

“Especially if you’re asleep. So I can watch you. So I can pretend we’re in the same bed, even if just for a few seconds.”

There was a pause, sweet and full, where neither of them spoke. Only their breaths could be heard, one slower, one wearier, and in that silence there was something so real, so tangible, it almost felt touchable.

“Sky?” Nani whispered, eyes half-closed.

“Mhm?”

“Can I tell you something?”

“Always.”

“When you talk to me like this, when I hear you like now… I’m not scared anymore. Not of mistakes, not of messing up. Not even of the distance.”

Sky swallowed quietly, visibly moved. “Me too. With you… even when I can’t have you here, I feel less alone.”

“Then let’s keep talking a little longer. Until we fall asleep.”

“Okay,” he murmured. “But if you start snoring, I’m not promising I won’t record you.”

Nani laughed again, this time with a hint of melancholy clouding his gaze. “What, planning to show it to the fans?”

“I don’t share what’s mine with anyone. Especially not when it’s my boyfriend snoring so sweetly.”

His boyfriend. Oh, his heart was already so completely, utterly screwed. Nani could never quite get used to it.

Teerak…” he let it slip straight from the most exposed place in himself, and it landed between them like a feather.

Sky closed his eyes again, and his face relaxed. His breathing slowed down. Nani watched him for a few more seconds, the way you look at a rare landscape, knowing it will soon fade behind the eyelids of sleep.
Then he whispered, “Fan dee na, Be. I’ll be back soon.”
And even though the screen remained on, even though neither of them ended the call, the words stopped flowing.
They stayed like that: connected by the thin, indestructible thread of a love that doesn’t need to be said every time, because it lives in the way you stay, even in silence.

***

The soft chime of the alarm echoed through the hotel room, a light, insistent vibration that broke the blue silence of dawn.
The phone, still on, nestled in the folds of the pillow, showed a slightly blurry image of Nani sleeping. His face relaxed, his breath slow, his lips slightly parted.
Sky stretched his arms over his head, letting out a small yawn, still thick with sleep but with that faint clarity that comes before anything else, when the body wakes up before the mind.
He lifted his gaze to the screen and smiled. His Nani was still there. The call had never ended.
“Nani,” he whispered softly, his voice rough from sleep. No answer.
He sat up slowly, moving through the crumpled sheets as if afraid to break the spell of that nighttime connection. The newborn sun filtered through the half-drawn curtains, casting warm shadows across his bare shoulders.
And that was when he felt it, someone else, between his thighs, was also awake, active, in need of attention.
In any other circumstance, he would’ve taken a cold shower and gone for a run, like always. But that morning, there was something suspended in the air. A kind of impossibility. Something that pressed under the skin, that tingled with waiting and distance, and made him glance toward the still-lit screen with a different expression. Familiar. Hungry.
Hearing Nani’s deep breathing didn’t help at all.

Nani stirred slowly in bed, stretching like a kitten. His eyelids opened halfway, still foggy with sleep, but the first thing he saw was exactly what he had said goodnight to just hours before: Sky’s face, watching him with a slow smile, part devil, part in love, and wearing nothing but the light.
“Morning,” Sky murmured, his voice low and gravelly from sleep.
Nani sat up slightly, running a hand through his messy hair. “Already awake? What time is it…?”
“Dawn,” Sky replied, shifting just enough to reveal part of his broad, bare chest, which did not go unnoticed.
Nani frowned, still half-asleep. “Are you… naked?”
“Always when I sleep, you know it” Sky smirked. “And also… there’s a bit of urgency.”
That’s when Nani blushed. The kind of slow blush that starts from the ears and spreads to the neck, as if Sky’s words were an unexpected caress under his skin.
“Sky… come on…” he muttered, hiding half his face in the pillow.
“I’m just saying I don’t feel like running this morning… There’s something else I’d like to get running…”
“Sky!”
He laughed, low, guilty, and wicked. “Come on, you know you drive me crazy when you wake up like this, all sleepy-voiced, eyes all soft, lips all plush…”
“I’ve been awake for five minutes and you’re already being a devil.”
“Only for you. And honestly, it’s your fault I wake up like this. You’re beautiful, even in your sleep. And here I am, with this very evident problem…”
He gestured vaguely beneath the sheets, an eloquent, theatrical move.
Nani covered his face with a hand, trying not to smile, but it was too late, he was already laughing softly, embarrassed, as always when Sky slipped into that shameless but sweet intimacy, mixing desire and love in his own disarming, direct way.
“I miss your body,” Sky said, lowering his tone slightly, returning to something more serious, more real. “I miss having you on me, in my hands, against my skin. I miss feeling you tremble. Hearing you laugh when I kiss your belly. Feeling you tug my hair when I drive you crazy.”
Nani didn’t say anything. He just swallowed, heart pounding. Then slowly lifted his gaze to the screen, and the trembling smile on his lips was both shy and complicit.
“I miss you too,” he admitted in a soft voice. “But if you keep talking like that, I won’t wake up anymore… I’ll melt.”
Sky smiled gently. “Then melt. No running this morning. This morning, I’m staying a little longer. With you.”
Nani rubbed his eyes, stretching slowly beneath the covers, and without looking away from Sky, let a slightly mischievous smile curve his lips. His eyes, still hazy with sleep, sparkled just a bit, between shyness and a flicker of curiosity that betrayed him.
“Staying with me?” he murmured, voice husky. “What exactly would you like to do, hm?”
Sky chuckled softly, a deep, slightly rough sound, the kind of laugh that slipped out when he felt caught and… liked it. He ran a hand through his hair, with the camera showing only his face and a bare shoulder.
“You know that question’s dangerous,” he whispered, looking at him with those eyes that, even from afar, knew exactly where to touch. “Especially when you’re there… all messy-haired, warm, with those red cheeks…”
Nani let out a breathless laugh, blushing immediately. “You’re terrible.”
“And you’re cruel.”
“Me?”
“Yes. Because you’re there and not here with me… and all I can do is devour you with my eyes. I swear, I’m so jealous of those sheets touching you right now… I want to rip them off.”
Nani closed his eyes for a moment, his skin seeming to react on its own to those words, and when he opened them again, they were darker, slower, fuller.
“Then show me yours…” he whispered, his tone dropping.
Sky didn’t need to be told twice. He flipped the camera, part of him just wanted to tempt.
“See? Those folds speak for themselves. They say someone underneath is suffering quite a bit…”
Sky turned the camera back, just to show him, in real time, how he was biting his lower lip. Slowly.
“Exactly. And the fact that you’re saying this in that voice makes it ten times worse.”
The silence that followed was full of liquid electricity. Two different but synchronized breaths, two distant bodies reacting to each other like there was an invisible line connecting them from throat to belly.
“Nani...” Sky said then, barely above a whisper. “If I were there right now, I’d start with your neck. You know what I do when I just want you to give in a little…”
Nani half-closed his eyes, cheeks on fire. “I know. And I also know where you stop… right before going lower.”
“Between your collarbones, under your Adam’s apple… with my lips, with my tongue, with my teeth… and you beg me every time.”
“You bastard…”
“Only for you.”
There was a moment, brief, breathless, where they looked at each other and nothing else needed to be said.
Everything was there, in that space between words and the desire climbing through the folds of distance, trying to find a way to reach across the screen.
Nani ran his fingers along his neck, almost unconsciously, and Sky swallowed.
“Don’t,” he said softly, his tone raw with real hunger. “Don’t, or I swear I’ll throw off these sheets and show you exactly what you’re doing to me.”
“And what if I wanted that?” Nani asked, almost to himself, his voice barely cracking.
Sky sat up a little, eyes glistening, breath uneven.
“If you want it… then say it. Say it in that voice. And I swear, the world out there can wait.”

The silence that followed was heavy and sweet, and in that silence, everything was there: the rapid heartbeat, the urgency turning into tenderness, the mad desire to touch each other, and the awareness that they couldn’t.
But there was also the power to play, to tease, to let themselves be slowly ignited, without hurry, like two matchsticks struck from afar.
Nani smiled softly. “Then just wait a second… I’m putting on my earbuds. I don’t want the neighbors to hear the sounds I make you let out…”
And Sky, with a shiver running down his spine, simply replied:
“You’re really, really cruel.”

Nani reappeared on screen a few seconds later, earphones already in and that little smile on his lips, the one Sky knew all too well: a mix of challenge and surrender, like he had already decided to give in but wanted Sky to be the one to gently lead him into that fall.
“Now we can speak softly,” he whispered, voice barely audible, his eyes downcast but focused. “Just you and me.”
Sky sighed, eyes dark and wide, voice rough. “Take off your shirt...”
Nani positioned the phone so Sky could see him, then slowly pulled the shirt over his head, mussing his already messy hair and wrecking what little sanity was left in the person watching him from miles away through a screen. He set the shirt down beside him, picked up the phone again, and lay back on the bed, covering himself with the sheet.

They looked at each other for a long moment, as if that gaze alone could shorten the distance between them. The light of dawn had taken over their rooms, softening their outlines into something warm, fragile, and achingly desirable.
“Sky…” Nani whispered, his voice tinged with a sweet unease. “Tell me you’re touching yourself.”

Sky let his head fall back against the pillow, tilting the camera so that only his face was still visible, but it was enough. Watching him breathe was enough to know.
“My hand moved on its own the moment you decided to listen to me and take off your clothes…” he confessed, voice gritty, his eyes almost glassy. “But I’m doing it slowly, the way you like. With my thoughts fixed on your skin. Your hips. The way you bite your lip when you want to be kissed but don’t say a word.”

Nani closed his eyes for a second, a soft sound escaping his throat, muffled in a breath.
“Let me hear…” he murmured, opening his eyes again, his fingers trailing lightly from his abdomen to his navel. “Let me hear how you say my name when you do that.”

Sky let out a deep, intimate sound, like his name was slipping from his lips along with pleasure.
“Nani…” he breathed, and in that single syllable was everything, desire, need, restrained love, and unrestrained craving.

“Again,” Nani urged, his eyes half-lidded, cheeks flushed, his voice barely a breath. “Don’t hold anything back, teerak.”

Sky moaned uncontrollably at the sound of Nani calling him “darling.” Just for him. Only him. His treasure.
“Only for you,” Sky replied, face taut, eyelids heavy. “I miss you so much it hurts. I miss your hands. I miss the way you tremble when I barely touch you. I miss your sounds... let me hear you too.”

Nani inhaled slowly, shifted under the sheets. He had started caressing his abdomen and then lower, his belly, Sky’s favorite place, before slowly slipping beneath the waistband of his shorts. He stroked his already hard length and, for the first time, let a real moan escape, warm, barely restrained, like only now could he let it out.
“I can’t even pretend to resist you.”
“Don’t. Never do.”

“Sky…” Nani whispered after a moment. “Are you still touching yourself?”
Sky didn’t answer right away. He just closed his eyes partway, tilting his head on the pillow with deliberate slowness.
“Only if you are too.”
“Maybe I already am,” Nani replied, voice barely audible, eyes shimmering. “But I won’t tell you. I want you to ask.”

Sky let out a soft, frustrated moan. “Say it. I want to imagine you. I want to know where your hands are going.”

Nani smiled gently, not teasing, but like someone who knows exactly how much to give and how much to keep.
“My hands? I let them trail down my belly... just a little. But I’m moving slow. Isn’t that what you want, Sky? For me to go slow? Not to give everything. Not right away.”

Sky nodded, a deep sigh escaping him. “Yes. I want you to torture yourself. To stay there, still, and feel just how much I’m missing you. I want your body to speak for me now. To tell you how much I desire you.”

“And what if I want to hear more from you?” Nani murmured, eyes lowered. “What if I want you to tell me... how you’d touch me. Where you’d kiss me first.”

“I’d pin you to the wall,” Sky’s voice had changed, rougher, almost shaking. “Your hands above your head, trapped in my fist, and my lips... on your neck. Slowly, down to your collarbone. I’d lick your skin, suck it gently just to leave a mark, my signature.”

“I’m going insane,” Nani murmured, eyes closed. “You know that, don’t you?”
Sky smiled softly, tender and cruel all at once. “Me? I’ve been watching you sleep for hours while the only thing on my mind was waking you up like this. Slowly. With words that slide under your skin.”
“And what would you do next... if you were here?”
“I’d court your body, worship it like I always do when I have you in my hands. I’d touch every inch of your skin to make sure no part of you feels left out. And I’d tell you not to move. To stay still while I bring up every shiver, one by one.”

Nani held his breath, his skin tingling just from imagining it.
“And then?” he whispered, blushing.
“Then I’d look you in the eyes, while my fingers tease the base of your belly, circling around. And I’d tell you I don’t want to start just to finish quickly. Not yet. I want to stay like this, just a breath away from you, to go crazy with you. And let the desire rise, build, consume us only when we can’t take it anymore.”

Nani opened his eyes and looked at him. “Are you circling around it on purpose now too?”
“Yes.”
“You bastard…” he cursed, his breath sinfully soft.
“The same bastard who knows how to make you come…”

Time seemed to stand still. There was no more distance, no walls, no miles. Just two breaths chasing the same rhythm, hands moving in silence, names whispered like prayers. Skin burning without being touched, desire reaching not just for the body, but for that desperate confirmation that even from afar, they still belonged to each other.

“Can you see me?” Nani asked, voice broken, eyes red and wet.
“Yes… and I can feel you,” Sky replied, panting softly.
“I feel you everywhere too.”

Broken moans, whispered words, hands meeting under the sheets. But above all, love, deep, enduring love. The kind that survives distance, that burns without touch, that clings to whispers as if they were lifelines.

Sky ran his tongue over dry lips, pupils blown wide. His breath trembled in his chest like a held-back drum, and even if he didn’t speak, every muscle in his body was straining in anticipation. He stared at the screen as if he could reach through it, as if his gaze alone could let him truly feel Nani’s skin beneath his fingers.

“Be,” he moaned, almost in a rasp. “If I could… I swear, I’d live between your thighs, bite them just to hear you laugh from the tickle, and feel you grab my hair because you don’t want me to go anywhere else. And I’d take you in my mouth. Slowly. Deeply. Just to feel you tremble. Just to hear you say my name like you did before.”

Nani bit his lip, hard. His chest rose in short, gasping breaths, but there was a different light in his eyes now, a flicker between desire and fierce tenderness, the kind you only feel when you deeply love who you desire.
“Holy God…” he whispered as small jolts of pleasure unraveled him. “If you want this to last… If you want me to stay… If you want us to burn slowly, and then find each other again, and again... don’t say things like that or I won’t make it…”

Sky nodded slowly, as if even that small gesture cost him effort. “I don’t want to dim you. I want to keep you burning. I want to see you lose your mind, but gently. I want that even after... you still feel my touch on you. Like an echo.”
“I already do.”
Nani’s voice was a broken whisper. “It’s everywhere. It burns. You’re everywhere.”

He shifted a little beneath the sheets, and from that angle, Sky could only see his bare shoulder, the curve of his neck, the faint movement of the hand not holding the phone.
“If you were here now,” Nani said without looking at him, “I’d push you down on the mattress and give you back everything you’re doing to me in my head. I’d let every inch of my skin slide against yours, my thighs locked around your legs and just one slow roll of my hips… I miss feeling you hard under me, because of me, thanks to me...”

Sky shut his eyes, breath catching in his throat. “Don’t say that. Don’t say it like that…”
“Why not?”
“Because every word of yours gets inside me. Hollows me out. Fills me up. Makes me crave not just your body… but your voice, your eyes, the way you look at me when I’m about to fall apart.”

Nani finally turned to him and looked straight into his eyes. A charged silence stretched between them, and it was Nani who broke it with a soft whisper:
“Then fall. But don’t finish. Not yet. Just fall a little. With me.”

Sky held back a moan, biting the back of his hand.
“You drive me insane,” he hissed. “And I don’t want to stop. I want to stay in this limbo with you. One step away. One breath. One kiss we don’t give. One orgasm that doesn’t come. Just to savor everything else. Everything that comes before.”

Nani let himself fall back onto the bed, the sheet slipping slightly, revealing more bare skin, up to a nipple, awakened not by cold, but by shivers of anticipation.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispered again. “I want to bite you. Actually, I’m already doing it. I’m tasting you like forbidden fruit.”

Nani filled the space of his hotel room with Sky’s name, as if cursing him for being able to break him apart so effortlessly and put him back together again. In the order of things that belonged to Sky. He was his, in any way Sky desired.
“Sky…”

Sky lowered his gaze, eyelids heavy, While his hand kept moving lasciviously, up and down, in an increasingly frenetic way. He did it almost shyly, but his fingers trembled faintly.
“I’m about to explode.”

On the other side, Nani let out another moan. His breath broke the words before he could even say them, and his body reacted to every vibration in Sky’s voice.
“I feel you inside me, Sky. Even if you’re not touching me. Even if we’re apart. My body knows you. It opens for you. It strains for you.”

The sheets shifted again, shivering. A leg bent slowly, sensually, revealing even more bare skin.

Sky leaned forward, one arm outstretched, the other disappearing below the frame. His breath trembled into the mic.
“If I were there right now… I’d take you slowly, looking into your eyes. I’d keep you on the edge, between emptiness and fullness, just like you’re doing to me now. Until I hear you beg my name for more…”

Nani closed his eyes. His neck strained, jaw clenched.
“I want you to keep touching yourself. That hand is mine now, you know how it moves over your body, you know how I replace it with my mouth, with my tongue, you know how I kiss and caress every inch of you. That’s me, Nani. It’s me…”

Nani heard those words, and it was as if it were true, there was no distance anymore between their bodies, as his head sank into the pillow. A long sigh slipped from his lips, warm and wet.
“Your hand is mine, Sky… and I’d use my mouth too, just to taste the most precious treasure I’ve had ever since I fell so deeply in love with you… ever since we made love for the first time. Oh God, Sky… I can’t take it anymore.”

“Hold on with me. Let me feel that we’re still together there, on the edge, on the brink. Let me enjoy this torment… just a little longer.”

Nani nodded slowly, his chest rising in a silent, almost painful rhythm.
“We’re bound… aren’t we? Even if we don’t touch, even if the screen’s between us… we’re in the same breath. In the same desire.”

The hand gripping his hard, wet shaft was the same one wearing the red thread around his wrist. The one that, even at a distance, kept them tied.
Sky looked at the screen and noticed that Nani, too, was touching himself with the hand that wore the red thread. He smiled, moaning with satisfaction.

“It’s all so perfect,” Sky panted, his words broken by a pleasure swelling like a wave. “There’s nothing more erotic than not being able to have you. Than loving you… without even taking you yet.”

“But you are inside,” Nani whispered, voice rough. “Inside me. Like a prayer. Like a heartbeat. Like an orgasm I’m holding back just for you.”

Sky let himself fall back, hand pressed to his chest. A low, involuntary, burning moan slipped from his lips.
“God, Nani… yes… let’s stay in this. Let’s stay in this orgasm that never comes. That holds us hostage. That tears our souls apart… without freeing our bodies.”

A loaded silence wrapped around them, broken only by their breaths, synchronized, ragged, as if they were truly inside one another. Bound.

“Let me see,” Sky said softly. “Let me see how you tremble when you’re close. When it’s almost there. When you can’t take it anymore, but you stay right there, suspended, with me.”

Nani bit his lip, hard enough to hurt, and then slowly let out a broken, shivering breath. A sound so real, so intimate, that Sky received it like a sacred gift. That breath sounded like it had come from both their chests.

Their eyes locked. Gaze to gaze. Souls stretched tight like bowstrings.

“I want to see you shine a little longer. I want to stay caught in this grip with you,” Sky murmured. “Under the skin. Teeth clenched. I want it so that when it finally comes… it overwhelms us. But finds us ready. Close. United.”

“Almost…” Nani echoed, but this time his voice really did shake. Like a wave held back too long, now unstoppable.

Sky watched him, eyes full. Of desire, of love, of a pride that vibrated in every broken breath. He saw Nani’s hands clutching the sheet, lips struggling to hold back sound, body drawn tight like a wire about to snap.

“Let go, Be…” he whispered. “Now. For me.”

And that was all it took. That warm, worshipful tone, the way his name slipped from Sky’s lips like a prayer.

Nani arched slightly, chest rising in an almost painful jolt. A deep, intimate moan burst from his throat as pleasure coursed through him in a long, slow wave that left him breathless. Eyes half-closed, moist, still searching for Sky’s gaze as his body finally surrendered to that flood, merciless and breathless.

“Sky…” was all he could say, but in that name was everything, surrender, gratitude, love.

Sky bit his lip so hard it left a mark. Seeing Nani like that, completely exposed, completely his even from afar, was like a blow straight to his heart and his gut. He needed nothing more.

“Yes… like that… you’re amazing…” he whispered, and even as he said it, his own body responded, no longer defending itself. A warm surge rose from his core, slow but unstoppable, and then hit him full in the chest. He closed his eyes, breath catching in his throat, a thick moan escaping as he let go, too.

He came with his eyes still fixed on Nani, with that vision etched into his mind: parted lips, taut glowing skin, breath still broken. He came with a sense of deep completeness, as if even the distance had disappeared, as if in that moment, they were truly together.

He stayed still for a long moment, muscles twitching with aftershocks, heart pounding wildly.

Then, with a voice still hoarse and eyes glassy, he whispered:
“I felt you. All the way here.”

Nani laughed softly, still panting, his forehead glistening with sweat.
“I know. Because I… I had you on me.”

Sky slumped back, dazed, letting out a long, satisfied sigh. He ran a hand through his hair, fingers trembling, a smile slowly blooming on his lips.
“Now I get why people say remote sex is underrated… it’s dangerously effective.”

On the other side of the screen, Nani laughed, voice rough and thick with pleasure. He was slowly straightening up, trying to bring a bit of order to the messed-up bed and his uneven breathing, but he wasn’t in any rush. He looked at Sky with one brow raised, eyes still glistening.
“Did you see this mess? It looks like a hurricane blew through.”

“It did. Its name was Nani, Category Five. And I left my soul in it.”

Nani burst out laughing, pulling the sheet up to at least cover his shoulders.
“I swear, if you’d been here… they would’ve found us in a vegetative state. We’d need days to recover.”

Sky let out a chuckle, hiding his face in his hands.
“And imagine if this distance lasted more than two days. Like, I don’t know… two weeks. Like when I was in America.”

Nani raised his eyebrows.
“If that happened now… no way you’d make it out alive. You’d have to stop over in Bangkok just to come relieve me from all the frustration.”

“Wait a sec… I would have to relieve you?”

“You’re the one with a mouth that promises and doesn’t deliver.”

“I do deliver! When there’s no screen in between!” Sky protested, but he was smiling now, relaxed, his eyes full of affection.

Nani looked at him for a moment longer, his smile softening. There was a tender, genuine light behind the teasing. A true sense of relief, like they’d found a way to survive even the distance.

“Thank God the event’s today,” Sky murmured, “and tomorrow I’m coming home. To you.”

Nani nodded slowly. “I can’t wait.”

Then he leaned toward the screen slightly, his tone suddenly more serious, though still amused.
“Now shut everything down, take a breath… and today, try not to think too much about what we just did, especially not during the event.”

Sky gave him a guilty look, already suspicious.

Nani pointed at him.
“Because you’re an open book. And I don’t want them reading how dirty you make me…”

Sky let out a muffled laugh, covering his mouth like he could hide the blush already creeping up his cheeks.
“Too late. I’m already thinking about you, hair messy on the pillow, that wrecked look like you just touched the sky. And I’ll think about it while drinking tea. And when I meet P’Som later, who’ll have a thousand things to tell me about the schedule, and I won’t follow a word because, yeah, I already said it, you’ll still be messing up my head with what we just did…”

“Then you’re doomed,” Nani replied with a soft chuckle. “If you get that spaced-out look during the drama Q&A, everyone will know it’s not the plot’s fault… it’s someone who thought a little too hard about you under the sheets.”

“Not someone, my Be,” Sky sighed, eyes glowing as he looked at him.

Nani rolled his eyes, but his smile didn’t fade one bit.
“Don’t make me blush again, idiot.”

“Not my fault you’re sexy even when telling me not to think about how sexy you are. It’s a trap. A damn beautiful trap.”

Nani brought a hand to his forehead, pretending to be exasperated.
“See? This is what I mean. You’re a disaster. An adorable, unstoppable disaster. And the second I see you again, I swear, I’ll make you regret every word you’ve said.”

Sky raised a hand in surrender, trying not to smile too much.
“Promises, promises…”

“Threats,” Nani corrected him, winking.

For a moment, they just stayed there, staring at each other in silence. Then, with a sigh that carried a sweet exhaustion, Nani leaned closer to the camera again.

“Now go make yourself pretty for your fans. But remember: no post-orgasm faces in public. At least try.”

Sky placed a hand over his heart.
“I’ll try not to look it… too much.”

“Sky…”

“Yes?”

“I love you, but you’re hopeless.”

“And you love me because of that.”

The hotel room door closed behind him with a muffled click.
Sky leaned against the wooden panel for a moment, letting the silence of the room embrace him after hours spent under lights, smiles, and questions.
It had been a lovely fan meeting, warm, full of energy and affection, but inevitably long.

And the whole time, he felt the lingering echo of the morning all over him.
The warmth of Nani’s voice. His rough laugh. The promises. The pleasure.
He let himself fall onto the bed still fully dressed, one hand on his chest, eyes closed.
“No post-orgasm face in public…” he murmured under his breath with a tired smile. “Mission failed, Nani. I think someone definitely noticed.”

He had caught a few fans’ looks, eyes that dug a little deeper than usual. One girl, when he smiled between answers, had whispered something to her friend. They had started giggling.
Sky had lowered his gaze. Not because he felt guilty.
But because he was happy.
And it was the kind of happiness that clung to him like a whispered confession spoken too loud.

He brought his hands to his face and chuckled softly.
Then, instinctively, he reached for his phone.
There was no need to think.
He opened his chat with Nani.

Sky:

Sky:“Mission (almost) accomplished. I think the front rows figured everything out. But I swear I resisted the urge to call you ‘Be’ in front of everyone. I deserve a prize.”

It didn’t take long.
Nani: “The prize is you’re coming home tomorrow. And if you kiss me the way you were looking at your phone this morning, I’ll give you two.”

Sky laughed, eyes half-lidded. His shoulders finally relaxed.
Nani: “But now tell me… are you too tired to talk? Or do you want to call me before you sleep?”

Sky stayed still for a moment, then smiled more softly.
His fingers were already moving.

Sky:“I couldn’t sleep without hearing your voice. Even just five minutes. Let me hear you.”

The screen lit up faintly, and after just a few rings, Nani’s face appeared, sprawled on the pillow, hair a mess, eyes heavy with sleep.
But his smile, that was bright, awake, sharp and sweet, just like always.
“Hey,” he said softly, almost a whisper, as if not to disturb the quiet of the night. “You’ve got that wrecked and happy look you only get when you’re dead tired and hopelessly in love.”

Sky let out a quiet laugh and dropped his head onto the pillow, like that face was his safe place.
“Your fault,” he murmured. “You wrecked me from a distance this morning and then left me to face a fan meeting like nothing happened. I smiled so much my cheeks hurt.”
“You held up well, though. I watched a little bit of the stream when I could. You were smiling like an idiot, yeah, but you looked beautiful.”
Sky blushed slightly, scratching the back of his neck. “I love it when you tease me and then call me beautiful, you know?”
Nani laughed. “I know. It’s my superpower.”

For a few seconds, they stayed silent, just watching each other. Faces close, the lighting soft, the distance between them suddenly feeling a little less harsh.
“I’m coming back tomorrow,” Sky said. “Taking the first flight.”
“I know.”
A flicker of emotion crossed Nani’s eyes.
“And I can’t wait. But tonight I want you like this. So tired. So tender. So mine.”
Sky sighed and got more comfortable, holding the phone against his chest, tilted just slightly toward him.
“Stay with me a bit longer. Let’s talk about nothing. Let me fall asleep to your voice.”
Nani nodded. And began telling him about little things: what he’d eaten, how the neighbor’s cat had tried to steal his slipper, how he’d played a random playlist and their song, that of the days in Chiang Mai, had come on by accident. And he’d thought of Sky. Hard. Enough to hurt.

Sky was nearly drifting off, his eyelids heavy, breathing slow. But Nani’s voice, that familiar, musical tone, slightly rasped by sleep, held him in a kind of waking dream.
Each word was like a caress, and Sky, half-asleep, began to stir again. Slowly, like someone had turned on a light beneath his skin.

“…and then, after cleaning up, I found that note you left me in the drawer last time. The one that said, ‘if you miss my scent, open this.’”
Nani chuckled softly. “I opened it. Doesn’t smell like anything anymore. But I smiled anyway.”
Sky half-opened his eyes, then fully. A shiver ran down his spine, and something in his nerves lit up.
“Nani…” he mumbled, his voice rough. “You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? You have some kind of power over me. I swear, every time you talk like that, I wake right up. Every fiber in me. Every damn nerve under my skin.”
Nani pulled a loving grimace. “Sky…”
“I swear you’re like a drug.”
Sky ran a hand through his hair, then slid it under the blanket, trying to calm something already reawakened. “Just hearing you turns me on. You drive me insane. I feel like, ”
“No no no no!” Nani lifted a hand as if to stop him through the screen, already laughing. “I forbid you to even try!”
Sky bit his lip, amused, his gaze burning. “Why not? Maybe just a little. Just a tiny bit.”
“Because I don’t have clean sheets left, for god’s sake!”
Nani stared at him, exasperated, though his eyes were sparkling. “You can afford a hotel with a thousand pillows and freshly changed sheets. I can’t. I’m at home. With a regular washing machine. And only one decent set of sheets. Which we already sacrificed this morning!”
Sky burst out laughing, rolling onto his side like a kid caught red-handed.
“Okay, okay. I’ll stop. Only because you made me laugh. But just for tonight.”
Nani huffed, but the smile was still glued to his face.
“Fine, let’s sleep then. Because tomorrow you’re back. And then you can wake me however you want.”

Sky settled in, looking at him with such tenderness. His eyes full, with affection, and desire, both.
“Tell me you love me,” Nani whispered, suddenly serious. “Just once. So I can fall asleep with those words in my ears.”
Sky looked at him. With everything. With his eyes, with his heart, with every beat.
“I love you.”
A smile crept onto his tired lips. “Always. Even when I’m already hard and you leave me hanging like a fool because you’re thinking about laundry…”

Nani pouted playfully, hiding a wicked catlike smile. Then closed his eyes, letting out a small, happy sigh. Sky smiled with all his gums.
“It’s your fault you’re as easily turned on as an induction stove.”
“And you’re the finger that keeps brushing over it every two seconds,” Sky shot back, fake accusatory tone, followed by a yawn. “Like those relaxing videos where people draw lines in the sand. You’re worse. And I’m the sand.”
Nani giggled. “You do realize you’re delirious, right?”
“Mh-hm. But you’re still here, so you must like my delirium.”
“Maybe. A little.”

They stayed like that, silent, just watching each other for the last few seconds before saying goodbye. The screen’s soft light cast gentle shadows on Nani’s face, and Sky found himself wanting to kiss him just to say goodnight with his lips.
“I swear I’m not letting you sleep for two whole days once I have you in my arms.”
“Perfect.”
Nani pretended to take mental notes. “That way I won’t have to make the bed. It’ll be a battlefield anyway.”
Sky laughed quietly. The sound was low and tender, more a sigh than a laugh.
Nani bit the corner of his lip, trying to keep a pout, but the amused twinkle in his eyes betrayed him completely.
“Now sleep, you romantic pervert. And bring me back a pair of sheets as a souvenir, since you get hard every time I brush you with my voice.”
“I will. I’ll even fold the ones you just washed. With love and a thirst for revenge.”
“How poetic.” Nani yawned softly, like a satisfied kitten. “Fan dee na, teerak.”
Fan dee na, Be.”

The call ended with a soft, quiet click, but in Sky’s room, the warmth of that voice still lingered, like a scent left hanging in the air.
He set the phone on the nightstand and sank into the pillow, his lips still curved in a slow smile.
His muscles finally began to melt one by one, but his heart… that kept beating syncopated, like his body already knew that in just a few hours he’d have it all again: the voice, the touch, the skin, the breath.

He closed his eyes.
And in his last thought before sleep, there was only one name, short and whole:
Nani.

Nani remained still for a few seconds in front of the now-black screen. Then he sighed, smiling to himself.
He curled up in bed, hugging the pillow like it was a familiar chest.
“That idiot is going to drive me insane,” he whispered in the dark, voice barely a thread, soft and full. “But I miss him even when I know he’s coming back to me.”

***

The plane landed in Bangkok with a soft jolt, but Sky was already halfway out of his seat before the seatbelt sign turned off. His chest ached with urgency—the kind that had nothing to do with airports or schedules. He practically flew through immigration and baggage claim, his fingers tapping against his jeans as if even his hands were impatient.

The moment he stepped outside, he hailed the first taxi he could find.

“As fast as you can,” he said in Thai, breathless. “Please. I’ll tip you anything.”

The driver blinked, then nodded and hit the gas like it was a challenge.

Sky sat back, heart thundering, every traffic light an unbearable delay. His phone buzzed a few times—Nani, probably. He didn’t check. Not yet. He wanted his next words to be whispered directly into his skin.

When they reached the building, he threw a bill at the driver, shouted a thank-you, and ran. No elevator. He didn’t wait. He took the stairs two, sometimes three at a time, climbing floor after floor with his chest burning and a grin splitting his face.

He fumbled the keys—but they were there, just as Nani had given him back in Chiang Mai, when they’d quietly, wordlessly decided that this was home. That he could always return.

The door opened with a soft click.

The smell hit him first—rice, lemongrass, and something warm and freshly cooked.

Then he heard it. The gentle rustling of pots. The soft hum of Nani’s voice, half-singing under his breath.

Sky didn’t call out.

He walked straight in and found Nani in the kitchen, barefoot, his back turned, stirring something in a pan. Comfortable. Unaware.

Sky didn’t say a word. He walked up behind him, wrapped his arms around his waist, and pressed his face to the curve of Nani’s shoulder, breathing him in like air after drowning.

“You’re home,” Nani whispered, not turning around.

Sky nodded, his lips brushing skin.

“I ran. Took the stairs.”

Nani chuckled. “Are you insane?”

“Possibly.”

One hand slid gently over Nani’s belly, fingers splaying possessively, reverently. “You smell like safety,” he murmured.

Nani leaned back into him, one hand reaching up to tangle in Sky’s hair. “You are hungry?”

Sky's voice was low, rough: “Not for food.”

Nani chuckled. “Did you at least bring the sheets?”

“I found a pair of My Melody and Kuromi ones,” Sky said, lips still at his neck. “But then I imagined how scandalized they’d be, so I figured you could use those when I’m not around.”

Nani grinned. “When you’re not here, I just call you. And we end up doing worse things.”

“Touché,” Sky whispered. “Those sheets are now decorative. Store them in the drawer.”

Nani finally turned around, eyes shining.

Sky smiled: “Can I kiss you now?”

“Password?” Nani teased him, wrapping his arms around the neck.

Sky’s voice cracked with affection. “Be...” whispered into his neck.

Nani's lips curving in a smile, he answered: “Authorization granted.”

In that embrace, as their fingers intertwined and their laughter mingled with the scent of lunch, a quiet certainty settled in the air: the Wi-Fi no longer needed to be strong — they would always be weak for each other, whether miles apart or embarrassingly close.

Notes:

eheheh I never keep my good intentions, so here I am with another oneshot. In my head they are engaged, almost married.
And this happens if I imagine them separated for a few days. I'll go and spend five minutes of shame in a corner, yes.
