Chapter Text
The sound of the rustling leaves outside, and the birds chirping desperately outside the window seal was not helping one bit. Wind Archer flopped and flipped on his bed, twisting his body with his disheveled hair. The morning sun outstretched the clouds, with its beam of rays shining through the glass window. Wind Archer endured enough, and groggily lifted his head of the pillow. His phone laid right beside him, silently ringing a little hum, that wasn’t too loud to startle Wind Archer. He reached out for his phone and turned off the volume. He wished it wasn’t his first day of university. Right then, his bedroom door opened slowly, out of pure exhaustion he seriously couldn’t tell who it was. He was always being grumpy in the morning, he was more of a night owl, either way he wasn’t all that active or energetic. He didn’t know why, his mom and dad were always calm and talkative, while he was just.. quiet. Wind Archer only kept to himself most of the time, not even would he speak to his parents about things. He was indeed a dry talker, but he only talked when it was important, or if he needed too.
“Wind Archer?” A small harmonious voice squeaked out.
Just to Wind Archers realization, it was Millennial Tree. Wind Archers father. Wind Archers reached to his bedside to grab his glasses, the foggy lens blurred Millennials face, but he could still tell it was him. He groaned, Wind Archers barely got any sleep last night. Was it from pressure? Nervousness of starting university? He actually couldn’t tell. But he knew he could not avoid his first day, and the daylight sky’s awaited him. He rubbed his eyes, with an unreadable expression. He always presented people with a cold, serious face. Yeah, he was more at ease and relaxed with his parents, but he still was formal and proper. His tired and sleepy eyes were betraying him, Wind Archer wanted to yank his blanket, and fall right back to sleep again. He bed usually felt as warm as a feather, but today, it felt like he was sleeping on a bed with spikes, and bricks that ached his back. Wind Archer glasses slid off his face a bit, and he quickly readjusted them, wiping the fog off with the bottom of his pajamas shirt. Wind Archer yawned before speaking up in his exhausted voice.
“Mm.. what is it?” Wind Archer managed to untangle those words. The bright sun still glimmering in his eyes. Millennial Tree stood right in front of the door, still staring directly at him, the birds loud noises still echoed through his window, and the sound of coffee grinding in the kitchen. He could tell that was his mother, Sugar Swan. Wind Archers back was stiffened and blended down low. He didn’t have bad posture, he just couldn’t manage to stand up straight. For some absurd reason, he was more tired than ever. Not because he didn’t sleep all night, Wind Archer barely ever got any sleep. He was studying since last night. Only then he got sleep, when Millennial Tree forced Wind Archer into bed. He was actually doing this all summer break. Most people used summer break for vacations, parties, hangouts, but Wind Archer have no intention for that. Not when he was going to a top university. He wasn’t going to waste all that free time, by doing some stupid things, that wouldn’t even help in the future. Wind Archer was determined not to get distracted by all these silly little distractions. Yes, the loneliness sometimes got to Wind Archer, but not that much. He was so lost in thought, until a voice spoke.
“Wind Archer, it’s time to get up. I don’t want you getting late for your first day on university. Your mother is making breakfast, make you get all ur essentials before leaving alright? Hurry up!” Millennial Trees soothing voice echoed throughout his room, his voice friendly and gentle. Wind Archer didn’t really feel like getting a lecture from his mom or dad, so he hurled his legs open, and slowly got out of bed. The bed creaked a bit, charging sound through Wind Archers ears, he focused his attention to getting ready. He knew he would have a big.. and tiring day ahead of him. So it was better not to waste time at sulking about going to some prestigious, random, university.
He walked at a fast pace to the bathroom, and slammed it open. The mirror reflected his tired face, extremely noticeable eye bags, and his messed up hair. Wind Archers pajamas felt way too soft. He immediately brushed his teeth, he still had to take a shower. And eat breakfast. And get his bag ready. His overwhelming thoughts twisted his stomach into knots. He groaned as he took off his clothes, why was it that he had to start university today? He slowly turned on the water, that poured out from the faucet.
He slowly combed out his hair, making sure it was neat and clean. If he was attending a nice university, the least he could do is look proper and professional. Wind Archer did not want to disappoint Millennial Tree, or Sugar Swan. His uniform gleamed, and his glasses shined. Great! He actually looked like he wasn’t mentally dying. Wind Archer took one good look in the mirror, and breathed. He would be okay, as long if he buried himself in studies and focused, everything would alright. Wind Archer groaned. He felt like a knife stabbed him. He usually wasn’t this worried about anything, but something about this was different. Wind Archer just shook off the feeling. It was nothing serious, just first day jitters. Or whatever they called them. Wind Archer walked out the bathroom, unlocking the bathroom dorm, mentally preparing himself.
“What’s for breakfast?” Wind Archer muttered while he shifted forward, arms tucked into his uniforms pants. He utterly wanted to rush out of there, knowing his family’s tradition. Pictures and photos..
“Oh my! My boy Wind Archer is all grown up.. look at you! Oh how the years passed..” Sugar Swan was at it, fawning all over him, compliments, and laughter. But this time, something changed. Sugar Swan looked like she was about to burst into tears looking at him. She sniffed, admiring him. Wind Archer couldn’t blame her, it was the last time she would ever see him for a while. Before Wind Archer could even utter a word, he was embraced in the tightest hug. While being showered with kisses all over his face. He felt his breath stopping, he tried stumbling out words, but that really didn’t work as he planned it to work. It made him more anxious and nervous about university really. His parents told them some pretty cruel stories about their side of university, but the world’s spinned and changed more so it really shouldn’t be that bad.
“I can’t believe my own two eyes. You’re going away.. to university. Away from your mommy.. I’ll really miss your presence baby.. Wind Archer? Promise me you’ll call and check up on us? Tell me all about it alright? I can’t bear the thought of you going away.. my god.” Sugar swan rambled on and on. Sugar Swan didn’t even bother looking at Wind Archers squished body, she pinched his cheek, and hugged him even tighter. Her flawless hair getting on his face. God couldn’t even help the situation Wind Archer was in, he could barely in breath air with Sugar Swans wrapped arms around him. He knew it was okay to be sad, but he felt like Sugar Swans was witnessing his death scene, more than Wind Archer going away to university for a bit. Not even that far away from their small little house. He still couldn’t breath for shit, he was about to choke and run out of air.
“Honey? You might be suffocating Wind Archer. He looks like he’s about to explode into pieces.” Millennial Tree spoke up, noticing the face Wind Archer had. “Im sure he’ll miss you too, but your overreacting a bit too much..” Millennia Tree voice was quite small, but still understanding. Sugar swan reluctantly go, but she still has puffy eyes and a handkerchief in her hands. She went silent while small tears gently streamed down her gentle face. She caressed Wind Archers cheek slowly, still mourning. “My little wind.. you’ll be my baby forever even if you’re all grown up.” Wind Archer cringed a bit, but smiled gently.
“Mom don’t worry. I’ll visit and call you daily, I’m not gonna leave you in the dust, especially after all you’ve done for me.” Wind Archer reassured his mom, after all, they would probably keep Wind Archers sanity together. He wasn’t ready to face the cruel fate of.. university at all.
Wind Archer sat down at the table, his house was pretty small, but he didn’t mind at all. It was cozy, and it was enough. He could smell the bacon and eggs frying in the pan, the sizzling pops were quiet. Millennial was cooking today, and he stated it was something special. Wind Archer knew it wasn’t something so big, but it was probably a nice gesture. The stovetop was slowly cranked down, and Millennial Tree took out some plates, he could hear the plates clanking and being set down. Millennial Tree flopped the eggs and bacon on the plates, and served them. Wind Archer looked down, and saw his name carved in the egg. It was a little messy sure, but it was enough for him to crack a little smile on his face. Millennial Tree always did these small gestures, and it always made Wind Archers day better. Sure, he may have never stated or said that, but it always occurred his day to be more better. So maybe he got on the wrong side of the bed, but university couldn’t be all that bad! After all, maybe it could be seen as a break, more of a living hell.. or he hoped at least.
Wind Archer hurried with his breakfast, chomping on it. The breakfast was basic, but always good! When he finished, he threw his plate in the sink, and grabbed his luggage’s and bags. He was mainly concerned about sharing a dorm, he tried to get a single dorm, but they refused time and time. It didn’t make sense, how was he supposed to focus if he had a dorm mate? He was just praying it was someone sensible. He wasn’t there to make friends, he was there to earn a living and a future. Nothing else, he had to lay full attention on his studies. Especially if it’s an extreme university. He knew some people who risk their lives to get into a university like this, and he was lucky to do so. He looked at his watch. “6:30” The bus came exactly at 7:05. He would certainly miss his home. But he knew he had to do pictures first, it was something they always did. “Wind Archer, pictures before you leave.” Sugar swan beamed a smiled, and pulled out her phone. She flipped her phone. “Wind Archer move to the left, the lighting is bad here. Wait no, a little to the right! A bit back.. and perfect!” Sugar Swan flashed the phone, The picture looked cute! It was Wind Archers signature smile, and his straight posture. He looked like a perfect boy, with a perfect family. He would agree, but there was always something missing within him. He was very lonely. Like lonely, he would have imaginary friends. He had a very vivid and bright imagination, but he never put it to a good use. He was a shy kid, and he refused to interact with anyone. He wanted a better life for his family. Even if Sugar Swan and Millennial Tree were fine, Wind Archer wanted them to live their dream lives. So he always put his studies, before friends and lovers. And it would remain the same until he made a good living for all of them.
Wind Archer was lost in his thought, he just decided to check his watch. 6:50, he had to be at the subway soon, and it wasn’t that near, so he probably soon have been heading out. He smiled, he knew if he survived this, he could make the living he always wanted since he was just a child. “Bye mom, bye dad.. I’ll really miss you. When I get there, I’ll call you okay?” His cologne lingered through the air, fresh and minty. Before he opened the door, Sugar Swan called out, “Oh, and Wind Archer, makes some friends okay? They will really help you throughout university. Maybe even a boyfriend!” Sugar Swan laughed a bit, trying to put Wind Archer more at ease. “I can’t promise that.. and I’m not even queer!” Wind Archer hollered, he didn’t have time for jokes, he was running late. He rushed out the door, and headed out for the subway.
“Oh Millennial Tree.. I’m actually worried for Wind Archer. If he doesn’t make friends, there’s no way he’s surviving university!” Sugar Swan sighed, clearly disturbed and scared. She only wanted the best for Wind Archer, nothing else.. Millennial Tree gently stroked her cheek. “I’m sure Wind Archer will make some friends. Don’t worry my Swan.” Millennial Tree warm smile shimmered. But in reality, himself also was quite concerned for Wind Archer. He knew Wind Archer was a smart boy, but he also needed moral support, he couldn’t just keep a burden and weight all on his back only. It could mentally break him, and affect him. Sugar Swan eyes softened, and she gave a small glimpse of hope. Millennial gave a little peck on her cheek, and embraced her in a gentle hug, and stroked her soft hair. “I’m so lucky to have a husband like you..” Sugar Swan chuckled a bit, before she swooshed off her feet by Millennial Tree picking her up, “And I’m lucky to have a wife like you.” Millennial Tree responded.
