Work Text:
Something was wrong with their daughter, and the couple couldn’t help but remain powerless in front of this heartbreaking scene.
Izuku and Katsuki couldn’t ask a six-year-old pup to explain the insecurities that transcribed through each of her glances. The two men were observant enough to notice the hints, but the small girl always stayed distant when the topic was mentioned, reminding them of their youth and coping mechanism, that nearly ruined their lives. As parents, it was their duty to be the shoulder to cry on, especially after the timeless promise they made after holding her for the first time. The two childhood friends couldn’t be happier to have this perfect life at the palm of their hands: a house that welcomed their new beginnings, a small head asking for hugs, and a career they loved.
Everyone started to envy them but none really knew the constant stress of facing a potential death between each mission and leaving a family behind without a final goodbye. Old nightmares tended to echo as bitter memories of their past, but the wedding ring on their used fingers revealed how their desperate souls succeeded in finding peace at the least expected. Izuku and Katsuki Bakugo thought they got everything they wanted, but the more their glances lost themselves at the shorter figure in the room, the sadder they became.
None could tell when the series of hints started to appear under their eyes.
At first, it was discreet enough to be considered as some issue that might pass with good sleep, but it became concerning when it lasted longer than two days. The small girl, not taller than three apples with her adorable chubby freckled cheeks and tiny hands, kept holding her Dynamy plushie closer and refused to leave its company. The couple remembered how this gesture became a habit since she was a baby, considering her plushie as the safest place when the problem was too scary to mention to her dads. Don’t get her wrong, Hana knew she was loved, but she was afraid of their reaction….
Sometimes, the two men heard her small voice making conversations through whispers behind the door, explaining how she was sad to put her dads behind, but they were adults and couldn’t understand the situation. It would be a lie to pretend the two men’s nights were as appeased as before, knowing Izuku and Katsuki were unable to close their eyes without seeing the unshed tears on their daughter’s faces. They tried to find a compromise and understand what was happening, but Hana stayed distant the entire time. She often returned their support with a hug, explaining how they were the best, but Izuku and Katsuki recognized how this confession wasn’t enough to calm their broken heart.
Seeing the person you love the most suffering from afar without being able to do anything was more painful than any failure made on the battlefield. This bitter impression of deja vu echoed to their youth when they nearly lost each other in the blink of an eye until they grabbed this second chance and explored this unknown narrative together. Even if they were a teenager back in the day, their communication created so many misunderstandings, compared to the silence chosen by their pup. Izuku stopped counting the number of times where he held back his tears and let her know how it was fine, hoping it would bring a smile back to her face. Unfortunately, even his husband couldn’t fix this situation, no matter how many times he tried to play with Hana and understand what was going on inside her mind.
Hana was their baby, the person they loved more than their own soul, but seeing her so distant was heartbreaking. She deserved the best since the moment she became a part of this world, especially when she was overprotected by her dads, who covered her with kisses on the cheeks, often followed by a soft laugh. The blonde girl did her best to not worry her parents and missed the days when she could rest in their arms and hear their amazing bedtime stories about their past. Her Dynamy plushie was the only emotional support she could find at the moment, but wouldn’t mind staying a little longer in her dads’s embrace….
It became worse when the casual habit of sneaking into her dads’s room after a nightmare became something to be ashamed of. Izuku and Katsuki always took the time to stay by her side before falling asleep, ruffling her messy curls and putting the sheet over her shoulder, after a goodnight kiss on her forehead. Hana wouldn't wish for better parents, but her bad dreams often convinced her that asking for their help was stupid, especially when adults have more important priorities! The small girl simply stayed glued to them, pretending to be sick to rest in their comforting embraces, unaware that the couple already noticed all of the hints she unconsciously dropped.
However, it took a drastic turn when her shadow could be seen outside the door of the couple’s bedroom.
The house was too quiet for her liking and she tried to not wake them up, unaware of how the couple had been awake for a long time due to their lack of sleep. It’s been months since Izuku and Katsuki noticed the first hints and felt powerless as time passed by, forced to find reassurance in each other’s arms with covered tears under a midnight sky. That night, none could find sleep, resting in the other’s warmth while calloused fingers played with the messy green curls, and scarred thumbs drew a circle around his husband’s waist. None dared to talk, knowing they were unable to fix this situation unless Hana was the one to introduce the conversation, but the best they could do was to bring a smile back to her face…even for a moment.
Hana held her breath after making an accidental noise on the wooden floor. She immediately hid behind the door, but she left a slight portion of her body and plushie in the space between the two rooms, indicating her presence. Izuku’s eyes met the crimson ones, realizing how they needed to be smarter in order to not scare her or let their daughter think of the wrong assumptions. At this age, kids could be easily influenced by their surroundings and apprehension of the adults concerning each of their reactions. It explained why the two childhood friends made sure to stay patient with her, showing their support through meaningless gestures instead of words, hoping she’d feel better soon.
An uncomfortable silence filled the house, with the different sides who owned distinct reactions: The small girl praying to not get caught and her dad, thinking about how they should react. Katsuki gave a nod as Izuku blindly trusted him, holding his breath, feeling his shattered heartbreak for the hidden figure behind the door, who used to sneak without any fear or embarrassment. No matter what happened, Izuku and Katsuki promised to find the source of this pain that transformed their daughter into a shield herself. The bedsheet noises filled the previous voice, and the taller man sat on the bed, moving his head to let his voice reach the curious eyes.
“I never knew we had ghosts in our house,” Katsuki pointed out with an amused grin, at the tip of his lips. Izuku immediately understood the plan and followed the strategy, moving his head to catch a bunch of blonde curls under his sight, making him smile.
“Do you think they’re here to hurt us? I’m scared…” the freckled man exclaimed out loud with a soft tone. His heart melted when he heard a low chuckle escape Hana’s lips, forcing the two men to admire the success of their plan. Their years of parenting taught them enough knowledge to approach a complex situation, even if their desperate hearts begged them to ask thousands of questions and hear the direct answers.
“Daddy and you are silly, I was the ghost !” The smaller girl pointed out with a low voice, pushing the door to reveal her tiny figure. The couple couldn’t help but make a slight smile at the heartwarming scene of their princess, the person they cherished more than any victories on the battlefield, looking at them with her adorable crimson eyes. “Sorry….I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Hana had always been a shy child, even when she was very young, especially during her first day at kindergarten. It took a while to let her small figure be separated from her dads’s legs, trusting their reassuring words about how they’d come back very soon and wouldn’t abandon her. The chubby hands held her plushie tighter and accepted her magical forehead kiss, until her shadow faded away with the crowd, under her parents’pride glance. The same day, Izuku and Katsuki congratulated her for her courage with a bunch of kisses on her cheeks, followed by some chuckle in a tender embrace, like the heroes they’ll always be for her mesmerized eyes. As the years passed by, the blonde girl succeeded in finding her own personality, even if she was inspired by Izuku’s natural care and the stubbornness of her father“You did nothing wrong, sweetie….come here,” the shorter man whispered, letting her know how it was alright, based on the hesitant glance she shared with them from the other side of the room.
Katsuki noticed how Hana stared at the welcoming emerald eyes of her dam, before catching the caring glance of her father, who nodded as a sign of support. The small girl held her Dynamy plushie tighter against her chest, as she reached the bedsheet and found a way between the two scents.
The voices inside her head explained how it was a bad idea to be there and even worse….her dads would be mad for leaving her room, but she missed them and needed their magical kisses that healed her and Dynamy’s scars! Hana found a more comfortable position when Katsuki put a pillow behind her back, letting her tiny body rest with the sheet on her legs, to protect her from a potential cold. Katsuki’s fingers ruffled her blonde curls in gentle movements and Izuku caressed her back until she became calmer, knowing the right spot to erase her worries.
“What’s wrong ?” The freckled man asked, kissing her forehead and noticing how Hana moved her head closer to Katsuki’s chest. Izuku made a slight smile at the scene, adoring how his husband always had a strong bond with their daughter since the pregnancy. He was almost admirative of Hana’s patience when it came to her dam’s state, making sure everything was alright. After all, she was worried about her baby brother and scared of pressing too much against the exposed belly, explaining why she chose the safest option, even if she wanted to hug her dam! “Did you have another nightmare ?”
The small girl simply nodded, holding the taller blond closer. Katsuki’s face turned sadder when he understood that he couldn’t beat Hana’s imagination, but maybe Izuku could take this chance to erase her unshed tears. Those strong hands who wasted too much blood on this brushed skin ended up caressing her back with a light kiss on her hair, revealing a softer side of the hero, who often created mitigated opinion in the public media.
“Do you want to talk about it ?” Izuku asked, pushing the lost curls behind her ears. Despite his urge to ask personal questions about its content, he chose the safest option with the patient path. The couple knew she’d find the strength to express herself about this topic one of these days, but patience had always been the key until now…
“‘Want to stay by your side,” she simply replied with a silent tone. Izuku and Katsuki’s hearts broke at the realization she was still impacted by her previous nightmares, but they made a promise to be her white knights the moment she reached their shaking arms at the delivery room. “It scares them away.”
“Scare who ?” Green emerald eyes met the concerned crimson ones, who trusted their husband to handle the conversation with his understanding tone. His scarred hands slowly reached Hana’s chubby cheeks to cup them, pinching her nose and catching a light smile crossing her lips.
“The monsters in my room,” she whispered with a discreet tone, afraid to get spotted by one of them. The couple was familiar with their firstborn experiencing this kind of dream, and they wanted to believe in the paranormal theory, but they also knew how a child tends to have a big imagination. “When they’re not here, they move in my head and take the form of mean voices, telling me bad things about my family. I tried to chase them like Daddy and you told me, but it didn’t work….”
“Sweetie….Is there anything we can do to scare them away ?” Izuku asked with a calm tone, cupping her chubby cheeks to have her attention. He couldn’t be mad at her for acting distant while facing something that was probably scary at her young age. Yet, he would rather fight against invisible strength than let his baby suffer in silence!
Their eyes met, noticing how Katsuki hadn’t said a word since his husband’s intervention. Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo always had a special relationship since the early begining, but the two childhood friends loved this new dynamic they found as first-time parents. The freckled man was the kind of person to share tender words while Katsuki chose delicate gestures, bringing a good mix between this calm atmosphere they tried to apply.
They admired each other’s kindness through meaningful moments like this one, where calm was all they needed to appease their little princess. Hana rested her blonde curls against the alpha’s chest, listening to his heartbeat Izuku’s hands cupped her cheeks, making sure to let her know the monsters were gone. The loving scent of her dads crossed her nose and made her smile, turned her head to catch the worried emerald eyes, which searched for answers through his delicate touch on her fragile skin
“Just a magic kiss and….staying here with you tonight,” she finally took the courage to answer with a nod. Something changed in the air when the two men exchanged a light glance. The taller man left some space to give the opportunity to see the smaller head move into a better position, with Hana enjoying her parents’s company. Her eyes caught the distance between the taller figures and her tiny body, but she blushed when she realized how she was protected by her heroes. “I don’t like my bed, it’s cold without my favorite people.”
Izuku’s face turned softer at the previous comment, stealing a quick kiss against her forehead as he put the blanket into a comfortable position for her body, not taller than three apples. Katsuki simply smiled, the kind of expression he used when he was surrounded by his family, in this bubble. The calloused hands pinched her tiny nose, hearing a low chuckle leaving her lips as he followed his husband’s gesture, by kissing her blonde curls.
“Everything you want, princess,” he whispered with a loving tone.
Hana hated that some people thought her dad was a bad person based on the information they kept seeing on television. It made her mad to hear strangers wishing the worst of fate on someone as amazing as her dad, especially when Katsuki Bakugo was the best father she could ever ask for! Izuku was the perfect dam to cherish her with endless love and reminder of her existence being their favorite treasure. No matter what the world has to say about them, she was their biggest fan and would protect her parents from the bad people!
The bedsheet movement revealed how the taller figure found a better position to make sure everything was cozy for the three of them. If Hana was the smallest one and could easily sneak into one of their arms, Izuku had more struggle with his exposed belly, catching the intrigued eyes of their daughter.
The delicate fingers ruffled her curls and welcomed the small girl into his arms. Hana made sure to not bother their unborn child and the omega, under the cautious glimpse of the blond beside them. As silly as it sound, Izuku liked the sensation of feeling his pup against his skin, reminding him of the day when the couple held their newborn for the first time in this new chapter of their lives. Hana grew up too fast and yet, this child was the little blessing that brightened their days and transform them into blessings.
“How do you feel ?” He asked, noticing how the small girl made sure to not bother her dam and little brother. Hana was a caring soul who easily cried when a bug was hurt against the window. There was no doubt this innocence needed to be protected in the next years, a promise the couple was ready to keep until their dying breath.
“Better,” Hana mumbled with a calm tone, resting her head against her dam’s neck to feel his scent against her skin. Her fingers lost themselves in the green curls to play with them, a gesture she used to do since her birth. Katsuki’s hands caressed her back in slow movements, admiring the heartwarming scene under his eyes.
“It’s that why you feel sadder than usual the last few days ?” The blond asked with an interested tone, trying to not scare the small girl with abrupt questions. It was a miracle if she confessed her worries, but the couple wanted to get each information as soon as possible to not jump to the wrong conclusion. However, the answer they succeeded in getting wasn’t as helpful as they expected, but it wasn’t their role to force a child to express her emotions by force when it should be natural.
“No….” She added with a sigh, knowing this comment might scare her dads even more. If only she could be as impressive as her favorite heroes, maybe she would’ve solved the problem a long time ago, but the voices in her head didn’t do any favor in her vulnerable mindset. Her fragile hands held the omega’s shirt closer, wishing to freeze time and stay in her parents’s warmth.. “But it’s not your fault, I love both of you !”
“And we love you too, more than anything, baby,” Izuku replied with a calm tone, kissing her blonde curls. His emerald eyes caught the crimson irises of his husband, who made a slight grin at the scene, letting the omega know that he was here to support him in this tough quest. Izuku Midoriya never doubted his childhood friend’s adoration, but Izuku Bakugo was confident about this happy ending drawing itself at the palm of his hand.
“And dynamy too !” Hana added with an amused tone, showing her plushie with pride.
The couple laughed at the gesture, noticing how their daughter regained color on her face, It was heartwarming to see how Hana was attached to her plushie and couldn’t leave it, especially when it reminded her of her parents: The first time she received the present at the palm of her tiny hands, she kept tearing up and refused to take it, until the new parents found the solution at the least unexpected.
A few days after their daughter rejected the plushie, Katsuki had the brilliant idea to give it a try by drawing some freckles on its cheeks. The pup’s reaction was immediate when her eyes noticed the change in the toy she previously rejected, before holding it closer to her chest: This gesture, as meaningless as it seemed, revealed how the newborn considerate this object as the extension of her dads’s reassuring presence, especially when it was often scented by them to appease her complicated nights.
“Of course, we also love him but not bigger than you, princess,” Katsuki teased. Even if Hana rested peacefully against Izuku’s chest, the blond mesmerized this breathtaking painting under his eyes as the small girl made another move, revealing a soft yawn. Emerald eyes met the crimson ones before sharing a smile, as the six-year-old girl giggled when her dads kissed her cheeks, whispering a low “I love you,” until she fell asleep.
—----
The last night, Izuku had a sweet dream.
He pictured two children playing together in the lake, under the amazed expression on their friend’s faces. The bright sunlight warmed his exposed shoulders and freckles on his skin, while the background noises of water caressed his ears like a delicate melody, forging this memory into a timeless prose in his favorite poem. The grin on his best friend’s face was as radiant as the sun above their head, creating a shade of red against his freckled cheeks, as a thought crossed his mind: He never wanted to escape from this dream that echoed as a narrative he knew by heart.
Izuku stayed as an outside ghost observing this tender scene where childhood and innocence mix perfectly together, to create one of the most inspiring paintings near his reach, based on the relieved expression on the shadow’s faces. The two boys seemed to enjoy each other’s company and even call themselves “best friends”, a status that’ll disappear in the next few years due to terrible circumstances… It would be a crime to see this happiness disappear from their adoring smiles while calling his name that resonated as ethereal promises to their lips.
The omega sat in the corner, in the highest three to not get caught. He watched the fond souvenirs manifesting themselves into captivating dreams for his broken souls. The situation at home with Hana created so many worries that Izuku had no other option but to hold on to the hope of finding a way to comfort his pup with a meaningful embrace. The change of scenery caught his attention when his scarred hands held the tree limbs until the majestic landscape reflected the different souvenirs of two children hanging out with each other on every occasion possible.
The emerald eyes stared at the familiarity of those drawings appearing around him, revealing their childhood rooms during their sleepovers and endless talk about their future, their stolen laugh at each other’s jokes, and pinky promise to stay best friends until the very end. A smile crossed the omega’s lips as his heart melted at the sincerity on their innocent faces, wishing things stayed as precious as this adorable scene. The reassuring painting started to turn grey colors, as ashes filled the void and plunged the freckled man into a colder atmosphere.
A soft shawl distinguishes itself from the surface, catching Izuku’s attention by the natural beauty of his emerald shade, reminding him of his irises, and realizing why his husband loved this color. It was mesmerizing to even touch the delicate fabric of this shawl, afraid to ruin it with a single thumb, but the shorter man decided to put the fabric against his cold shoulders.
A sudden noise caught him off guard, forcing the shorter man to turn around and see how the huge tree disappeared: The dark room was now replaced with frames of the same shadows he had seen earlier, except…..the setting drastically changed. The previous smiles and promises made during their sleepovers became forgotten memories, transcribed into hidden tears and unresolved conflicts. The frames appeared under the omega’s eyes, who felt his heart missing a beat at the middle school uniforms, replaying terrible scenes his mind wanted to forget.
Don’t get him wrong, It would be stupid to pretend none of the events they experienced didn’t have an impact on their lives and relationships. Izuku and Katsuki often talked about this vulnerable period of their past, explaining how those years had been the hardest, but the moment where their supposed “hate” became nostalgia for a time they lost against their will. To be fair, neither Izuku nor Katsuki could explain how negative feelings impacted their fragile dynamic, they had been distant for sure…but they’ve never really hated each other, even at their lowest.
The previous child with green hair, who used to smile at his best friend’s jokes, was now holding back his tears under the cruel frame of his childhood friend. The echoes of Katsuki’s cruel world acted like a stab in the chest, forcing the freckled man to hold the shawl closer to his skin, letting the fabric meet the wedding ring on his finger. The haunting landscape of this specific day where the blond told him words that’ll become his biggest regret brought him back to the roots of their journey, but it was necessary to understand their struggles and a huge improvement in the following years.
In all honesty, Izuku started to feel uncomfortable at the echo of this familiar suffering, but he also noticed how the blond’s eyes betrayed his thoughts each time his younger self wasn’t looking. Maybe if his middle school self had looked earlier at those heartbroken irises, things would’ve been different…
Chills spread through the omega’s body as he stared at the slime monster accident, the desperate expression on their faces, and the conflicts that resolved from this situation. Izuku never had the chance to see a third perspective of those interactions, but now he was older with more knowledge, he could definitely understand why All Might choose him after this proof of courage.
The scenery ended with the casual setting of a classroom, full of students and background noises until a familiar shadow appeared. The class went silent and noticed how Katsuki moved closer to the shorter boy, sharing a concerned glance at the sudden distance between them. The teenager prepared himself to face some harsh comments from his old best friend, w, but…much to his surprise, the blond simply rolled his eyes and moved away. That day, Izuku considered himself lucky to have avoided his childhood friend’s madness, but he quickly realized how saving Katsuki’s life was rewarded by the end of this bullying, which he considered a curse until now.
Munch to his surprise, it took a few years for the freckled man to learn about his husband’s insecurities, inner conflicts, and regrets concerning middle school. Don’t get him wrong, Izuku knew the taller man kept a certain ounce of remorse each time this topic was mentioned in conversation, but he could’ve never known about their intensity. Katsuki often confessed in the omega’s arms how he was simply afraid and unable to handle such emotions as intense as the ones he experienced during his middle school days. Izuku knew he shouldn’t have forgiven him, but he also recognized the determination in those crimson eyes and promised to show how wrong the blond was!
Katsuki often repeated how he would’ve changed everything to fix their past mistake and regain his best friend’s trust. Izuku always found a way to erase those naty tears on his cheeks by stealing a quick kiss against their wedding ring, letting him know how it was over.
The sudden breeze ruffled the omega’s forehead, moving his lost curls as the shawl disappeared with the wind. A bright light nearly blinded him, forcing the freckled man to close his eyes, until the intensity lowered, revealing the heartwarming scenery of their high school years. Instead of moving frames and background noises, the moments were represented through a painting of each souvenir that marked those golden years, despite the traumatism it created in their shattered souls. The scarred fingers caressed the delicate frame of his first day at UA, the memories of the strangers who’d become his new friends, and the realization that fate brought him closer to the shadow he chased since diapers.
The friends he met at the new step of his life became his confidants, such as the teachers, who saw great potential since the first day, and a mentor who became a paternal figure. Izuku found the peace he looked for, even when his emerald eyes crossed the sight of Katsuki’s teary eyes at the revelation of Izuku’s quirk, and the fight they had outside the building, which changed their entire dynamic. Those daily training became their bounding moments, promises made through simple glances and a hidden smile like the old days.
The least Izuku can say was how their first year was chaotic.
Everything happened too fast, and before reading it, the moments of laughter were erased by the intoxicating ashes of the wars and unconscious bodies on the ground. This familiar pain crossed Izuku’s chest, offering the bitterness of the first moment he discovered the lifeless body of his childhood friend. The blood on the floor, the freezing air against his dry tears, and the intense anger that transformed his quick into a weapon of destruction….
Everything felt as real and insane as the first time experienced them, even with the maturity he gained through the years and the lessons he learned. All his surroundings warmed him about this ability to destroy everything in the blink of an eye, but it became a genuine source of conflict when a drastic decision imposed itself at the palm of his shaking hands. The omega knew he made a mistake by escaping without a final goodbye, but the letters he left to his loved ones reflected his fear, especially the one he gave to his childhood friend, who supported him through hidden smirks in the distance.
—---
Everything changed when the unspoken truths finally escaped from Katsuki’s lips.
After all those years of suffering and unsolved conflicts, the stubborn head took the lead over his own anxiety and decided to face his biggest fear by opening his heart under the rain. The freckled man was easily sensitive to this mesmerizing souvenir that forged a huge place inside his heart, especially when the blond hatedrainy days since their childhood. The confessions made by his childhood friend back in the day made him realize how he was safe in his surroundings, especially when passing out in Katsuki’s arms felt like the safest place he had been in the last months.
When Izuku Midoriya lost his quirk, he considered himself a nobody chasing after unreachable dreams…but the conversation he shared with his childhood friend in the hospital opened his eyes to the situation. The tender frames of their teary faces crossed his thumbs, with a smile appeared on his lips, remembering the beauty of Katsuki’s promises to chase after each other for the rest of their lives. The world found another meaning that day, as Izuku continued working on his teaching career, and supported his longtime friend from afar, without acknowledging the presence of romantic feelings.
Everything happened in a casual sleepover with his old classmates and he made it to celebrate the return from the war and erase those sad expressions on everyone’s faces. The entire class joined the party and changed each other’s minds as much as they could, but it was nothing compared to the missing heartbeat inside his chest when Izuku’s glance found the crimson eyes. It only lasted a few seconds, but thousands of years for his shattered heart.
Suddenly, the childhood friend he chased became this unreachable shadow, who succeeded in bringing a scarlet color to his cheeks, and realized how those past years were nothing but excuses to hide the existence of those romantic feelings. Izuku simply replied with a smile the kind of expression that surprised the blond as he turned his head and mumbled in his beard. He was unaware of the emerald eyes following his shadow, noticing the shade of red appearing at the tip of his ears.
Those conflicted feelings had a direct impact on this relationship he cherished more than his own life. He tried to keep it innocent, but the blond wasn’t naive and often asked what was wrong with this sudden behavior until the freckled boy succeeded in calming himself. After all, he really loved this strong bond with the blond, who knew each of his secrets and wouldn’t mind spending the rest of his life with someone as boring as him. Izuku considered himself the luckiest person on earth to have Katsuki Bakugo’s complete attention, warmth, and reassuring words during complicated nights, almost like they always belonged to him in the first place.
If the shy teenager played this game until graduation, the stubborn blond did his best to contain his jealousy when a certain someone was standing too close to the boy he loved. There was something mesmerizing with the distinct glance shared between round cheeks and him, being nothing but friends supporting each other, and the discreet ones he shared with his childhood friend. The loving expression on Izuku’s face was enough to read how grateful he was to stand by the blond’s side, almost like his heart belonged to him….
The fragile relationship transformed into a bond stronger than any obstacles on their paths, as they became each other’s confidant and the best friend they’ve needed all along. This conflict between the misunderstanding and their heart until graduation happened in a simple way, a naive glance was exchanged in the crowd and the two men bonded by a golden thread knew. Emerald eyes lost themselves in the crimson ones, highlighted by the color on their cheeks smiles at the corner of their lips, and this unreachable became their new beginning. As surprising as it seem, the years passed by and their dynamic stayed the same, while Zuku continued his teaching career and Katsuki became a famous name in the rank.
The scared fingers ruffled the painting under his eyes, making a genuine smile at the memory. How was he supposed to forget the moment when his world took another meaning after his childhood friend and his loved ones brought his forgotten dream back to reality? The intense recognition he felt inside his chest brought tears to his cheeks, the same ones falling down his skin at this exact moment. Knowing the man he loved was at the center of this project was incredible, explaining some of his behavior over the last years. The genuine smirk at the corner of Katsuki’s lips revealed how this heavy secret wasn’t a burden on his shoulder, realizing how he succeeded in bringing a smile back to his childhood friend’s face.
The following years were calmer, as the freckled man simply walked through this corridor, and the teenagers became adults, who kept chasing after each other. A tender sensation filled his heart as his thumbs crossed the painting of their two shows moving boxes in the new apartment they considered as their new home. After saving enough money t, Izuku and Katsuki agreed to be roommates, a choice more favorable toward their workplace a. Many people in their surroundings were surprised to see how the two of them weren’t together at their age, especially after pinning for so long, but the two men insisted on their mutual decision to take their time. Obviously, their jealous glances betrayed their fake smile when someone had the audacity to flirt with one of them, but the hidden Izuku and Katsuki shared after that were enough to read how their heart and soul alwaysbelong to each other.
Being roommates brought them closer, and the two of them started to act like a couple without realizing it. Things took another turn when the freckled man mentioned how his colleagues asked him on a date, catching the blond’s attention as he held his breath: He didn’t suffer all those years to let some extra steal his place! That day, the stubborn alpha left the table and went to sleep earlier than usual, leaving the shorter man heartbroken, knowing he didn’t have enough time to let the other know how he rejected the offer….
Izuku and Katsuki were near their thirties when they decided to confess their feelings.
It started with small gestures like realizations at Kirishima and Mina’s wedding, wondering how nice it would be to have the same ceremony with the person they love on the altar … until the words escaped their lips without realizing it. It happened in the middle of the night, where the calloused hands held the shaking figure inside his arms, playing with his green messy curls while the freckled man smiled at the gesture. Izuku always enjoyed this bonding moment where his heart and soul found peace in this ethereal sensation of being at home.
A soft scent crossed his nose, forcing the shorter man to lift his head and catch the most breathtaking glance on the blond’s face: Izuku could read in the other’s eyes like his favorite tales, with the lines he mesmerized by heart, but the adoring glance the alpha owned at the moment was timeless. The omega never thought he could live this long without seeing this captivating poem, too perfect to be ruined by his cursed fingers, and perfect for the rest of the world to see it by their selfish glances. The freckled man’s-breath stopped when he moved his face closer to the blond’s, resting his hands around the other’s neck and waiting to hear the words that stuck for too long inside his tortured lips.
Much to his surprise, none confessed their feelings through explicit words, but meaningful gestures. The midnight sky observed how the scarred fingers immediately lost themselves in the gold spiky hair as their figures moved closer, lips chasing after each other in a light kiss. It was their first and was as chaotic as they expected, but the couple didn’t mind, as long as they got each other’s back in the most desperate moments. All those years of torment ended up being a blurry memory as they regained their breath, with blushing cheeks exposed to the other’s eyes and a stupid smile appearing on their faces.
“I’ve waited so many years to be yours,” the blond whispered with a gentle tone, as he rested his head against the omega’s chest, sensing Izuku’s soft scent all over his brushed skin. The blond was selfish when it came to love, especially when the man he adored more than his own life was holding with so much care, knowing they were each other’s strength and weakness.
“Oh Kacchan,” the freckled man mumbled with a caring tone, caressing the blond’s back until his thumbs met the alpha’s chin. He made a slight movement to let their eyes meet until their lips met again, followed by a soft chuckle. “You’ve always been mine, and I’ve always been yours….for the rest of our lives.”
The omega swore he could hear the frames talking in the silent corridor as he kept walking until he found his new location. The walls reflected the delicate frames of their relationship as a couple, with their ups and downs, being each other’s first. Izuku and Katsuki enjoyed taking their time and cherishing each souvenir as if it were the last, especially when the world around them was already moving too fast for their liking. Anyone can be replaced overnight, but their golden thread will remain as timeless as their love in the past decades. Everything was perfect, from the moment Izuku promised to be his in this reserved apartment, to the day he pronounced his wedding vows on the altar.
At the age of 30, Izuku married the love of his life, the great Dynamight.
The endless frames under the omega’s eyes warmed his heart, his fingers found the ring on his fingers, recalling the ethereal vows they both pronounced on the most important day of their lives. The simple reminder of this intense emotion was enough to melt the freckled man’s heart at the tender memories of this reality that became their new beginning. The ceremony was as perfect as they expected, selling their first kiss as a married couple, under the admirative glances of their friends and family. The first dance they shared and the loving whispers they made after their first nights as a married couple reflected the excitement of those new steps they’d been waiting to reach for years.

The last room sbecamelighter than the others, especially when the shorter shadow lost himself in those thousands of memories that brought a smile back to his face.
His eyes glanced at the frame, revealing the positive test at the palm of his shaking hands, under the teary crimson irises of his husband, who welcomed the news with a soft embrace. The picture showed the green messy curls resting against the blond’s chest, holding his lover’s shirt tighter as they celebrated the news with a delicate kiss, whispering how excited they were for the rest of this journey. It was the first time the couple was facing such changes in their lives and the event itself was scary, afraid of messing things up without having a perfect guide to ensure complete safety for their child…but it was worth the try if this meant giving a chance to be admired by the result of this unique bond between them.
Everything was a first, from the symptoms, recent nightmares, and fear of committing one wrong mistake. Their friends and families called them overprotective concerning this topic, especially when their firstborn wasn’t even there, but they liked how the two men stood by each other’s side, no matter if it was about the blond’s career and the omega’s pregnancy. It was evident how this child was the center of their worlds, and their surroundings couldn’t wait to see the rest of this tender journey. The months passed by in the blink of an eye and many memories appeared as frames under the emerald bringing a smile back to his face. Izuku admired how the couple, in their naivety, succeeded in getting their happy ending,.
The inexistent belly started to become more apparent to the most curious eyes, as life went by under this comfortable house who welcomed the two figures and their stolen kisses. Those casual habits of new discoveries became the best part of this unexpected journey, full of surprise and smiles that covered the rest of the pregnancy. It was unmistakable that Katsuki Bakugo would be an amazing father, such as Izuku, and his sincere care for this unborn child, who easily reacted to her parents’ voices, no matter the time of the day.
However, this happiness wasn’t meant to last forever. Izuku’s shorter figure approached the closest frame under his eyes, revealing Katsuki and him sitting on the doctor’s chair, hearing the news that almost scared them to death. The two men will never forget the day when they needed to go to the hospital due to a sudden emergency, holding each other’s hands until the words escaped the old man’s lips, causing a rising anxiety inside their overwhelmed chest.
“Your husband and you had a great chance when it came to timing,” the man with white hair said with a sigh, trying to not scare the couple, already emotive after the sudden emergency in their pup’s state. “A few days later and things would’ve been terrible in your pregnancy, especially at this step. In all honesty, your pup’s life was on the line and we took the medical record as soon as possible, but we found a way to calm things down. My only advice is to reach us as soon as possible if something goes wrong until birth.”
That day, Izuku and Katsuki’s world fell apart.
This genuine bubble they installed since the beginning of the pregnancy ended up breaking apart. Scarred hand shielded the calloused one tighter, holding his breath as the omega started to think of a world where, under distinct circumstances, they would’ve been alone for the rest of their days. The two childhood friends already lost each other too many times, but it was different when their daughter’s life was on the line! Their intertwined hands moved to the exposed belly, catching the slight bump, realizing this worst-case scenario had been avoided.
The rest of the journey happened in the most cautious way, making sure everything was alright until D-Day finally came. The scarred fingers ruffled the picture under his eyes, being grateful to experience such a thing with the man he loved, especially when the tiny human residing inside his arms was the biggest treasure he ever received. The simple memory of this moment succeeded in bringing tears to his exhausted face, recalling the moment when the newborn cries echoed in the silenced room, transforming their anticipations into blurry memories.
Nothing could ever describe the moment their eyes caught the tiny human residing in the midwife’s arms, being smaller than they expected. It was surprising to see how someone so small was the prettiest person they’ve ever seen, and the most fragile at the same time. Emerald eyes met the midwife’s, as she carefully put the crying newborn against the omega’s skin. The moment that followed was as breathtaking as the rest of this journey when tiny eyes revealed their shade of red and blonde messy curls, followed by chubby freckled cheeks, being the perfect child the couple could ever imagine.
Izuku was too dazed by the strong emotions and tears falling down his cheeks when he brought the newborn closer to his exposed skin, stealing a forehead kiss against the pup’s face, and noticing how the previous cries immediately stopped. The presence of calloused fingers ruffling his messy green curls brought him back to reality, feeling his husband’s lips against his sweaty curls, and his gentle voice whispering how he was proud of him.
Suddenly calloused hands, ready to take the world down for his loved ones, ended up cupping the newborn’s cheeks with delicate movements, afraid to break her fragile skin. The previous parents stressed about the rest of the adventure, and became that confident version of themselves the moment they felt their daughterin their arms, realizing this happiness was meant to last forever….
Since that day, the couple never left Hana’s side and made sure to be the shoulder to cry on. After all, they nearly lost her once, and Izuku and Katsuki refused to let such a thing happen, especially now their daughter was here and was the prettiest girl they’d ever seen. They couldn’t leave her alone for more than one minute, offered embraces, and calmed her tears as soon as possible while seeing their beloved newborn growing up in the blink of an eye.
Izuku’s shadow reached the final portrait in the corridor, exposing the heartwarming landscape of the three of them sharing the same bed, with Izuku’s fingers playing with the messy curls and the calloused ones caressing her back. The teenager afraid of the unknown, was now the stronger version of himself, and couldn’t ask for a better future than the one appearing under his admirative eyes.
A soft smile crossed the omega’s lips as he pressed the cold handle of the wooden door, before being blinded by a sudden light. He felt his body passing out due to the shock, but slowly becoming heavier as he regained his reality, where the background noises of the outside conversation echoed as a familiar song to his heart.
—--
Two days later,
Izuku prayed for a miracle to happen in the last 48 hours, but fate simply mocked his misery and desperate call for help.
After all, he remained a simple shadow in this huge crowd of helpless souls who wanted to fulfill selfish goals, Katsuki and he were ready to bring the world down for a glimpse of her smile or gentle laugh that resonated as a delicate melody to their ears. The midnight sky who heard about the couple’s late-night conversations could approve of their endless devotion to this child who saved their lives, but sometimes even the strongest soldier couldn’t fight against the stubbornness of a six-year-old girl and her coping mechanism.
The freckled man sighed, resting his head against the wall as he closed his eyes. In order to remain as calm as possible about this situation, he chose to focus on the sensation in his surroundings, from the lost conversation from the neighborhood on the other side of the streets to the wind ruffling the curtain of the open window in the living room. This afternoon seemed to sell charming promises to desperate souls like his, but Izuku refused to give up, even if this meant fighting until his last breath to get the main conflict that erased the beautiful smile on his daughter’s face.
Katsuki’s voice echoed inside his mind, recalling the previous conversations they shared before the blond left for his work. Indeed, the great Dynamight had the chance to go and eat with his little family every midday for years, and wouldn’t miss this occasion against anything, especially the last weeks. The couple knew it was nothing, but if being together for a temporary moment could change Hana’s mind for a bit, they were ready to take the risk! When the taller man left the house earlier, he made sure to steal a quick kiss on his daughter’s forehead and pinch her nose, under the understanding glance of his husband, thankful for tender moments like this one.
“I’ll make sure to figure this out, I promise,” Izuku whispered with a soft tone, kissing the blond’s lips and noticing the reassured expression on his husband’s face. “Save the world for us, love.”
Katsuki wasn’t worried about this situation if his childhood friend was in the plan, knowing how Izuku had always been wiser than him when it came to people’s motives. It was the best they could do for the moment, but the shorter man sighed, welcoming the warmth against his exposed shoulders and the fabric of his clothes, exposing his seven-month-old belly.
In all honesty, the omega wanted to keep his mate’s shirt as long as possible, even with his strong scent, but none of the alpha’s clothes fit with his current situation, leaving the freckled man with no other choice than getting new ones. From time to time, Hana liked to grab some of the white shirts to draw silly things on them, transforming this soft piece of clothes into an unforgettable painting. Izuku and Katsuki should get mad at her for using indelible markers that refuse to wash away with the washing machine, but they enjoyed the originality of this present they’ll keep as a tender memory.
The heat at the palm of the omega’s hands disappeared, realizing how his coffee was due to these lonely reflections. The omega liked to spend his time with his family, more than anything in this world, but he longed for the days when he would also see the relieved expressions on his students’s faces. The omega wasn’t interested in the recommendation to take a break from work, but after the last pregnancy and their near loss of Hana, he decided it wouldn’t hurt to follow his surroundings' advice. After all, he got all the care of his husband, a stolen smirk that brightened their youth, and had the chance to stay with their daughter to create more memories together!
The silenced house felt like a heavy sensation on his shoulders as his scarred fingers put the empty cup on the table, knowing he’d take care of it later. For the moment, he needed to think about a way to interact with Hana and ask directly the topic of her worries without being too harsh, knowing she was a sensitive child. She got everything she wanted at home, with two loving dads and the best of care….
Izuku hated being powerless, but he promised to figure this out as soon as possible! His emerald eyes turned around to catch the soft sound of Hana playing in her room, mumbling some inaudible dialogue. Scarred hands wrapped themselves around the belly, trying to get some courage, almost like receiving a simple kick from their son would fix the issue…but Izuku Bakugo Midoriya was ready to take the risk.
“Alright little bean, I need your help to reassure your sister,” he mumbled with an amused tone, making a slight smile when the pup immediately reacted, almost like he wanted to be a part of the conversation when it could’ve been a simple coincidence. “She’s pretty strong, the strongest I’ve known but you Dad, and I hate to see her like this, wish me good luck.”
The shorter man sighed and decided to let his curiosity take the lead. His footsteps slowed as he walked in the corridor, getting closer to the origin of the sound that melted his heart. His forest eyes noticed Hana’s small figure playing with her dolls from afar, beside the house toy her dads got for her birthday earlier this year. The two men will never forget the moment when they saw the sparkle inside their pup’s eyes, being the most outstanding painting they’ve ever seen. Izuku observed how the messy bedsheet, probably due to the storage box and the thousands of dolls she collected since her birth, enjoyed this collection more than the others. However, the omega succeeded in discerning how her chubby hands were playing with her favorite. The story of its creation was pretty touching, considering the fact that children had the chance to personalize their own dolls, and Hana chose to make a carbon copy of herself. When her dads asked about this choice, she simply replied that she would love to have her own character and stand by her two favorite dolls, being the smaller version of her dads.
It was touching to see how the small girl found comfort in her fantasies, something adults tended to forget while growing up. His back rested against the door to observe the smaller figure playing a little longer with her toys, until Izuku’s legs accidentally met the wooden door, causing a sudden sound that grabbed Hana’s attention. The silence in the room was blank for a moment, realizing how Izuku got caught by the curious crimson eyes, wondering what was her dam doing here.
“Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you,” Izuku’s voice broke the previous silence, noticing how the small girl calmed herself at the soft scent in the room. Her face softened when she noticed the understanding glance on her dam’s face, revealing how he had no bad intention to interrupt her from the previous play. After all, he always played with her when Katsuki was on a mission, and it was her favorite moment of the day, especially when the three of them had fun and shared laughs at the crazy imagination of the young girl. “I was checking on you since Kacchan left for work and I don’t really enjoy silence. Can I come in ?”
The shorter man shouldn’t be worried, especially when Hana seemed relieved byhis presence, like she’d been waiting for him all along. Those bonding moments together were the most memorable ones for the omega and his pup, and they refused to exchange it against anything in this world. The freckled man had the impression of being an intruder in this imaginary world created by Hana, with the toys beside the bed, posters on the walls, and a homemade playground she used as the center of the room. The emerald eyes noticed how this room, which started with newborn stuff, ended up gaining a new personality through the years, melting his heart at the idea that their daughter grew up too fast.
The intrigued crimson's eyes stared at the reassuring figure, who slowly sat on the carpet with a slight groan. If Hana had been a good observer, she had more complications with expressing her concerns out loud, but thankfully, the expression on her face betrayed each of her thoughts. To her dads, it was something natural to read into their pup’s glance like an open book, but to the small girl, it was some sort of magical power. Izuku noticed how the pup was playing stressfully with the fabric of her dress, a gesture she got from her dam.
“Are….” Hana lifted her head to meet the captivated emerald eyes, who looked at her with gentleness. Her face softened when she realized how her dam was there for her, even if she was hard to deal with. Zuku and Kacchan had been the best parents she could ever ask for, especially when their faces always reflected the genuine care and protection they had for their “little miracle”, as they liked to call her. “Are you sure you and the baby are not hurt? I got a pillow if you want…..”
Izuku’s face softened when he understood how the small girl was just timid. There was no doubt the couple was ready to take the world down to keep their princess safe at all costs, but this ethereal love they shared with her was more powerful than any prose in a timeless poem. Hana was their blessing, the biggest treasure their shattered and cursed hands ever received, and yet, holding her newborn body inside their arms for the first time was the most magical moment they’d ever experienced. The world might consider them crazy, but as long as they have their daughter’s support and amazed eyes focused on them, that’s all that matters to their determined souls.
“Don’t worry he’s safe, sweetie,” he replied with a smile, resting his scarred hands around the belly. He couldn’t help but admire how Hana was careful with him and her little brother’s state, even if one of them was safe inside the womb. Izuku K held back his tears, knowing it might lead to a misunderstanding and scare the concerned pup. “But I would gladly take the pillow for my back, i feel like an old man already.”
Hana’s eyes widened at the comment and sounded offended by the omega’s reaction, making the freckled man laugh. There was so much beauty in the naivety owned by children, ready to change the world into a magical place, be the greatest heroes, and their parents’ pride, even with this unconscious pressure of tryingnotto disappoint them. The small girl already shared some of those concerns in the past, but she ended up being reassured by her dads with magical kisses on the cheeks and tickles.
Her short figure didn’t hesitate to leave her previous spot to grab the most comfortable pillow on her bed, with a concentrated face. She moved closer to the omega, and made sure he was safe, with her small focused eyes, able to steal the heart of the coldest soldier in the war.. Izuku couldn’t help but smile at the gesture when he realized how she gave him her favorite pillow, before stealing a quick kiss against her forehead, that made her chuckle.
“But Papa is not old like grandpa, he’s still young !” She added with a frowned eyebrow, making the omega laugh at her adorable face. Hana was still a child, afraid of death and being separated from her loved ones, and naturally welcomed the light embrace offered by the shorter man. Both of them knew them knew how those moments weren’t meant to last forever, explaining why they cherished it as the apple of their eyes. “He’s the strongest and he’s keeping my baby brother safe. If anything happens to you, Daddy and I will make sure to kick this villain’s butt.”
“My heroes,” he replied with a soft tone, kissing her cheeks before letting her return to the previous spot, with the rest of the toys on the floor. “I’m so proud of you, and I know I got the best knights by my side.”
The previous anxiety on her face disappeared, even if it was represented through meaningless changes, but they meant the world to the concerned emerald eyes. The silence in the room was now filled with the sound of Hana’s fingers grabbing the doll that was a carbon copy of herself, and letting her move into the wooden house.
Izuku took his time to notice the disposition of the setting; the rooms were separated into distinct spaces with their furniture, composing the various bedrooms of this toy house. The freckled man noticed the familiarity of the furniture’s location as he stared a little longer, analyzing how the small house standing under his eyes was the replica of their own, with some differences. The most evident dolls were Hana’s and the two ones standing in the living room on the couch toy, in front of a television that didn’t reflect any images. Izuku’s heart missed a beat when he recognized how the two men represented the carbon copy of Katsuki and him, especially with the details of homemade haircuts and freckles drawn on the cheeks.
“This is beautiful, you did an amazing job sweetie,” the omega explained with a reassuring tone, catching the slight blush rising on Hana’s chubby cheeks. She had no right to be this adorable and he wanted to kiss her cheeks until she’d laugh inside his arms, like the good old days. Hana made a soft smile at the compliment and kept moving her doll, putting other dolls outside the house, waiting for her in the garden, probably representing the friends she made at school. However, if this touching scene warmed the omega’s heart, his instinct convinced him he was getting closer to the source of his daughter’s pain….he just needed a little digging. “You know, Kacchan and I noticed how you seemed sadder than usual, what’s wrong, sweetheart ?”
“Nothing,” she replied with a distant tone, trying to not scare her dam, but the both of them were smarter than that. If Izuku refused to scare her by taking his time to understand his daughter’s struggles, Hana didn’t want to make the omega distant, especially when it might have a bad impact on her baby brother! The only way to solve this situation was to stay discreet until she figured out the solution by herself and proved how strong she was to her parents.
“You can’t lie to me, I know everything about you, even the way you hold your teddy bear when you’re afraid of something,” Izuku added with an amused tone, It was unfair how she was only six years old but remained their little newborn who didn’t make her nights and held onto her dad’s warmth as closely as possible. “I can recognize when your eyes sparkle when you’re excited about something you like, the unmistakable light you have when your favorite show is on television even if you watched the same episodes thousands of times. I don’t want to be too invasive, but Kacchan and I are concerned about you…You know you mean the world to us, right ?”
Hana’s eyes widened at the answer, as a blush colored her cheeks from embarrassment. It should be forbidden to be exposed so easily to her dam, but he didn’t have any bad intention, especially when she noticed the unshed tears at the cooner of his eyes. If she was stronger, she would’ve shared the truths, knowing she’d be reassured by the comforting scent of her dam….but she was weak. Hana might be the daughter of the Wonder Duo, the result of their genuine love and their biggest pride, but she wasn’t strong enough to beat her inner struggles. Izuku’s heart missed a beat when he noticed the hidden tears at the corner of Hana’s eyes, almost like she tried to not get caught-
“Can I join the game at least ?” Izuku asked with a curious tone, moving his head to catch the surprised crimson eyes.
The conflict inside her chest convinced her reason to stay distant and let her papa be a simple spectator, but her heart desperately wanted to catch the lost time and make the omega smile. If the freckled man waited for the pup’s answer, he noticed how her face softened when her chubby fingers grabbed the closest doll beside the house and gave it to him. The omega took the occasion to share a gentle smile while ruffling her blonde curls; Hana’s face became brighter as she returned him a soft smile, letting him know how she was happy he accepted to play with her. The freckled man adjusted the pillow behind his back and moved closer to the wooden house, transforming the toy into a character. He looked at the small girl, who made a soft chuckle at this lost expression in this dream wooden house.
“Papa is stupid, he doesn’t even know the story,” Hana pointed out with an amused tone, noticing how the omega faked an offended glance, making her laugh louder. The delicate sound warmed Izuku’s heart, wishing to freeze time. He could play the innocent a little longer and enjoy the colors regaining Hana’s sweet face, hoping the unborn child inside his womb would be as beautiful as their daughter.
“You should tell me the story instead of laughing at me, it’s unfair you know…” he frowned and eyebrows but quickly betrayed his fake acting by making a smile at the shorter figure in front of him. Hana threw her tongue at the omega and decided to move closer to him. The previous anxiety diapered once she felt the happiness rising inside her chest at the fact that Izuku still took time to hang out with her, despite taking care of her baby brother. If the freckled man welcomed the small girl beside him, he grabbed the closest blanket near their reach to put it on their shoulders as a magical cape, even if it was mostly used to not catch a cold.
“Alright, what should I do ?” The green-haired man asked. Hana nodded as she held her doll closer and moved it to the smallest room of the house, with a few objects reminding him of the nursery room the couple prepared for their second child. Her fingers moved the toy from her dam’s hands, as she combed the hair and put it in the room that looked exactly like their kitchen.
“You’re playing Keiko, she’s Hoshi’s best friend,” her small fingers pointed to the blonde doll on the long chair, while her crimson eyes took a glimpse at the emerald ones, who nodded in confirmation that he followed the plot. Izuku and Katsuki knew how the imagination of a child might be wild and very creative, which is why the couple tried to adapt to each situation happening every time they played with their daughter. “Keiko likes to hang out in Hoshi’s house because it’s like a second home and Hoshi’s parents always make the best meals. This is Izumi and Katsumi,” she explained with a calm tone, moving the two toys into a better position, under the touched glance of her dam, who watched the concentrated expression on his daughter’s face. “They’re the best parents, they take care of Hoshi and always remind her how much she’s loved! Izumi is a hero and Katsumi a teacher, they really love each other and they decided to celebrate the great news they learned earlier !”
“Really? It’s amazing,” the freckled man added with an amazed tone, ruffling the blonde curls of his daughter as the small head rested against the omega’s chest. It was evident how the scenery happening under his eyes was the reflection of her everyday life, highlighted by her imagination, and yet…there was something sad with the position of Hana’s dolls compared to the couple, standing in the room in the nursery one-on her own. Izuku already knew the answer to the question, but he needed to ask in order to enter in head and find out what gave her so much concern in the last week. “What is it ?”
“Izumi and Katsumi are expecting a baby,” she mumbled in her beard, afraid to get caught when she had no reason to feel that way. Having her dam by her side in vulnerable moments like this one was heartwarming, even if she liked her own space with her imagination. However, she wouldn’t mind resting her head against Izuku’s chest until her worries faded away, hoping her dam could heal her inner scars with one of his magical smiles.
“Oh, I see,” Izuku whispered, catching the small girl playing with the fabric of his shirt.
The omega needed to stay focused on the current situation: It was common for a child to unconsciously project her life into each hint of creations near their reach. Drawing, painting, and that kind of thing were essentials to their well-being, and seeing Hana spending so much time with her dolls was a way to find reassurance. She was too young to feel the struggle of life, she should’ve been laughing and talking about big projects at her young age, instead of being a reflection of Izuku's younger self.
“And how does Hoshi feel about that ?” He asked with an understanding tone, taking his time to find the right words to cover the situation. His instincts warned him about being on the right path, even if he needed more digging and asking the harsh questions from a different angle. “After all, she’s alone when she should celebrate the news, don’t you think ?”
Hana sighed, moving her head to grab her carbon copy doll. Her fingers held the plastic fabric as her crimson eyes glimpsed at the figures of her dads from afar, living in their own world and unaware of their daughter’s suffering. Don’t get her wrong, Hana knew the representation she made in this play was the worst-case scenario, especially when Kacchan and Zuku never left her side!
“She’s really really happy to be a big sister, she’s excited to play with her baby brother, but she also feels sad most of the time,” the pup said with a sad tone, feeling the scarred fingers against her messy curls.
She was only six years old and wanted to reassure her loved ones at all costs, but how was she supposed to do that when she wasn’t strong enough to describe the pain inside her heart? Unfortunately, she had no other occasion than this one to express her feelings in the presence of this doll, being a shield for herself
“Katsumi and Izumi are amazing parents but she feels left out by the mean voices in her head,” she explained with a low tone, doing her best to erase the heartbreaking expression on the omega’s face. If she could, she would’ve already given thousands of hugs with magical kisses on the cheeks, but Zuku deserved to know the truth. “At first, she was fine, but the bad people kept hurting her in the nightmare, and they bullied her until thinking she doesn’t need any help because she’s….useless.”
“What do you mean ?” Izuku asked, holding the shaking figure closer to his scent, even if his concerned scent betrayed his intentions. Katsuki and he were aware of the numerous nightmares this poor child was facing against her will, being a cruel reminder about how life wasn’t as gentle as children portrayed it. However, it was a miracle if the omega was aware of their content, putting a finger on a spot that would probably open the conversation to more revelations. “Hoshi seems pretty strong for me. After all, she already fought the ghosts in her rooms, why is she afraid of the arrival of this new member of the family ?”
An uncomfortable silence filled the room, as both figures stayed closer to each other. Izuku wanted to let her know that he’d never give up on her, but Hana needed some help from fate. As crazy as it seemed, the omega was ready to fight against some unreachable enemies if this meant seeing his pup regaining the previous excitement on her precious face.
“Because Hoshi is scared to be replaced,” Hana explained with a mumble, too low to be heard by the ghosts in the room, but close enough for the freckled man’s ears.
Izuku’s heart missed a beat at the sudden revelation, feeling his heart shattering into millions of pieces as he stayed here, powerless against this speech. The freckled man cursed himself for not realizing it earlier, but the small girl was genuinely hyped by the announcement of the pregnancy…When did Izuku and Katsuki start to miss the most obvious hints? The omega had to hold back his tears as he felt the pup’s hands around the fabric of his shit, while his free scarred hands unconsciouly rested against the exposed belly. All this time, the freckled man thought he was a good parent but he was the worst of them; he should’ve seen the hints earlier and talk about it, but he was too weak and led to the current circumstances, with heartbreaking revelations.
“Hoshi loves her parents, like really really really love them, but she doesn’t want to be forgotten once the baby is here…She doesn’t want to feel that way because Hoshi is excited too, but once her baby brother is there, her parents won’t have time with her like they used to do. Hoshi is bad because she’s selfish, but she wants to cry every time she has a nightmare to see Izumi and Katsumi ignoring her.”
He couldn’t be how this was evident and yet, the couple didn’t even think about this possibility. The two men will definitely need to make their proof and hope Hana will forgive them for their clumsiness, especially when becoming parents was scary. She was too young to understand all the sacrifices necessary to offer a peaceful life to their legacy, but it was also the best part of the adventure: the joy of exploring new beginnings and creating unforgettable souvenirs that’ll last for decades.
In all honesty, Hana’s fears were understandable.
After all, she was a child who considered love as a notion brought by her parents that wasn’t meant to last, especially under such circumstances when the arrival of a new member in the family might steal away this spot that used to be hers. The existence of this notion differed according to the multiple points of view; the affection you’ll get as a child won’t be the same as the timeless love you’ll get from your partner on the altar. If Izuku and Katsuki express their gratitude with meaningful promises that only themunderstand, they remain simple words for the small girl, who needs something stronger.
“Oh sweetie…. And why Hoshi never told her parents about that ?” Izuku asked with a sad tone, doing his best to not show the recent tears that fell down his cheeks after the previous realization. He loved his daughter more than anyone in this world and would do everything to keep his family safe, even if this meant holding Hana into a tender embrace until she got bored of it.
“Because she doesn’t want to bother them,” the blonde girl didn’t understand the omega’s reaction. Her dam was supposed to be mad at her for being a bad person, not welcoming her with those tender eyes that sold too much hope in a single glance. It was unfair how Izuku had the magical power to read into each of her expressions, but she was glad she found the right words to describe this pain, especially when she was welcomed with such a reassuring expression on the omega’s face. “After all, Izumi and Katsumi are adults and shouldn’t care about something stupid such as jealousy. Hoshi likes to be the favorite child, but she’s scared and…she doesn’t know what to do…if she’s-”
“Come here, baby,” the soft voice of Izuku resonated in the silenced room as he immediately brought the shaking pup into a hug.
Hana didn’t know she was crying until her vision became blurry by the tears, as her chubby fingers held the omega’s shorts tighter, afraid to let him go. It was heartbreaking how a beautiful girl like her gave herself under too much pressure over something she couldn’t control when she was supposed to enjoy her childhood, and not be afraid of it. The blonde and messy curls rested against the omega’s shoulders as she released some broken sobs, breaking Izuku’s heart as he started to tear up at the sudden realization. He messed up in a pretty chaotic way, but he promised himself to fix this issue and bring a smile back to his pup’s face, even if it took him years to let her know how loved she was.
The couple fell in love with her the moment she became a part of their world, no matter if it started in the womb or the first cry she made in the labor room. Every time their eyes met the small girl in the room, their heart immediately melted and worries faded away, as she remained the result of their true love, transcribed into the wonderful existence of this adorable angel beside them. Being alive was a tough quest, but a couple of childhood friends promised to give her the best life someone could ever ask for. The arrival of this new child caught them off guard for sure, but Izuku and Katsuki were ready to share their ethereal affection through their legacy.
“I’m sorry you had to suffer the entire time without telling us any of this,” Izuku mumbled between his tears, as his scarred fingers held the smaller pup closer inside his arms. Hana didn’t fight back and let him know how emotive she was after this huge act of courage unaware of the pride smile crossing the omega’s face. “If your dad and I knew about this earlier, we would’ve made sure to not let any of these nasty tears ruin your fragile skin. Hana, you’re the best thing that ever happened to us and we’ll be forever grateful to have an amazing daughter like you: You got your dad’s courage and my kindness, mixed under the face of a precious angel that guided us for our favorite tale.”
“But….I made you and Daddy sad by keeping this secret,” she pointed out with a low tone, regaining her calm. The heavy tears seemed to stop due to the comforting words shared by the freckled man, but it wasn’t enough to convince her that the voices in her head were wrong. “Lying to people is very bad, and I’m a mean person, you should be mad at me-”
“Baby, why would I be mad at you when you’re looking at me with those adorable eyes that make me want to keep you in my arms until you stop growing up ?” The green-haired man explained with a chuckle.
He stepped back and whipped his own tears, under the stunned crimson eyes. Hana didn’t know Zuku had been crying all along and she felt bad for being the reason for his pain w! Maybe the voices in her dreams were right and she didn’t deserve any of this. The emerald eyes noticed the sudden change of expression on the pup’s face, deciding to take the lead. His scarred hands gently cupped the freckled chubby cheeks, whipping the salty tears away from her delicate skin, before stealing a quick kiss against her forehead.
“The world is scary for someone like you, not higher than three apples. You don’t need to explore it by yourself, especially when your white knights are here to protect you from the mean people,” he added with a gentle tone, admiring how the teary pup listened to each of his words with huge admiration. “You’re not a bad person for thinking that way. Listen to me; when you were born, your dad and I immediately knew how you were the best thing that ever happened to us, it was our goal to keep you safe, from the first glance we exchanged with your tiny body. You were so fragile and precious, and look at you now… being this amazing girl able to save her favorite heroes with a single laugh or glimpse of her smile, we couldn’t ask for a better pup than you.”
“What about my baby brother ?” She asked, moving her head to catch the amused expression on the omega’s face. Her fingers played with the green curls, while Izuku decided to comfort her as much as he could. It was natural to be concerned about such a thing, but his mission was to reassure his pup !s. “I mean…When he’ll be there, a lot of things will change.”
“You’re right, but we’ll do this together, because we are the wonder family, remember ?” He said, losing his fingers to pinch her small nose and catch a blush on her cheeks. Shit, he knew why Katsuki couldn’t get rid of her when she was a baby, she was the cutest of all! “We'll love your brother as much as we adore you, even if we’ll have to spend more time taking care of him. You don’t remember any of this, but you used to be a tiny newborn too; too fragile to be dropped on a sheet, but the prettiest pup I’ve ever seen. You know, babies don’t know anything about the outside world, and they’ll need our help to figure this out! Kacchan and I will be there, but you’ll have to make sure he doesn’t do anything bad that might hurt him….because you’ll be his hero.”
Hana's eyes widened at the previous words. She always wanted to be the one saving the world and she was ready to accept this role if this meant keeping her baby brother safe when their dads weren’t watching. A simple glance at the tender emerald eyes was enough to recognize the gentleness in the choice of his words, aware of their impact on the curious crimson eyes.
“You can count on us and you Dad and I will never give up on you,” he added, putting a lost curl behind the pup’s face, and kissing her nose. Now he understood the struggle of the situation, he was convinced to do his absolute best until Hana’s face relaxed at the omega’s warmth.s. “You’re our little princess, and we wouldn’t wish for a better daughter than you; you’re the strongest and the bravest Kacchan and I have seen, and we’re old like dinosaurs-”
Hana laughed at the previous comment, melting the omega’s heart. There was something heartwarming with the way the pup’s face reflected each of her thoughts, making things easier for her parents. Izuku wished he could cup her chubby cheeks and keep her inside his arms, but she deserved to see the outside world by herself and create her own narrative! One thing was sure, Katsuki and he would always be there to support each of her projects, even if they seemed unreachable at first sight.
“We never told you, but something happened when you were in the womb,” Izuku confessed, unconsciously caressing his belly.
The blonde girl immediately noticed the concern on her dad’s face and decided to let him talk. However, in order to support the omega after every nice word he said to her earlier, she decided to rest her head against his chest. The freckled man smiled at the comfortable setting, remembering how he adored those memorable moments like this one.
“That day, your dad and I were terrified of losing you and we decided to become overprotective, to the point where we couldn’t have a proper night the first months without checking on your breath,” he confessed, recalling how the first weeks were the hardest, especially with this entire knowledge they needed to learn from their experience and mistakes. “It was impossible to not stay away from you for too long without having the sensation of losing a part of our soul. Your dad and I love you more than any treasure we had until now, and we will until our last breath. This new child is probably unaware of the endless amount of love and support we can bring to him, but can I count on you to be the best sister and guide him through life? After all, you’ll be his only family once we’re out of reach.”
“I will !!” Hana exclaimed out loud with a smile, regaining colors back on her face. There was something touching to see their daughter, born by true love between the two childhood friends, taking this role seriously. After all, Izuku and Katsuki didn’t like to think of a world without their children, but they promised to stand as long as possible if this meant watching their legacy grow as old as theirs. “Tell me, what will I do once my baby brother is there ?”
“That’s a good question,” the green-haired man said with an amused tone, pinching her nose. He kissed her blonde curls and offered an embrace, welcomed by the shorter figure, who made sure to not bother the pregnant omega. “Your dad and I will take care of the other tasks, but you’ll get the most important ones: tell him bedtime stories every night and let him know how you’ll be there for him, even if he won’t understand at the moment. You’ll be his reliable source to the outside world, make sure to give him hope and courage, and be the shoulder to cry on….because we know you’ll be the best sister for the little bean.”
“Did you hear this? I’ll protect you, and I won’t be jealous anymore because Papa and Daddy love both of us very very much,” she moved closer to the exposed belly and made a gasp when she felt a sudden bump in the palm of her hand. Izuku laughed and decided to kiss her cheeks as he held Hana’s figure closer. The small girl rested her head closer to her dam’s scent and chest, whispering how much she loved him.
Unfortunately, this moment was interrupted by some noise from the corridor, catching their attention. Crimson eyes glanced at the emerald ones, who shared the same curiosity until a familiar voice echoed in the background.
“Looks like we finally know the reason for those sad eyes, I was afraid of asking the question and taking the wrong role,” Katsuki’s voice echoed in the room. His back rested against the wooden door, with his civilian clothes, mostly composed of a casual shirt and pants he stole from the agency,. His strong arms, marked by the scars on this brushed skin, were crossed against his chest as a smirk drew itself on his lips.
Indeed, the blond listened to this heartbreaking revelation for a few minutes; he didn’t want to be caught, afraid to break the heartwarming atmosphere in the room. The alpha’s eyes were mesmerized by the tender sight of the people he loves the most, his devoted husband and wonderful daughter, holding each other with reassuring words. Katsuki never doubted his childhood friend's ability to bring a smaller back to their princess’s face and was more than relieved to know this topic was now resolved, belonging to a past that’ll be either forgotten with time or an anecdote to share in the next years.
“Daddy !!” The small girl’s eyes widened at the comforting presence of her dad, making a bright smile at his familiar smirk. Izuku didn’t even fight back when Hana left his previous embrace, in delicate movements to not hurt her dam and the baby, to rush into the alpha’s arms. Katsuki was fast enough to catch the small pup inside his chest, with Hana’s arms wrapped around her dad’s neck and the blond’s hands caressing her back. In all honesty, the great Dynamight was used to praise and welcome the public, but his favorites remained the ones made by his princess and mate, who looked at him as if he was the best thing that ever happened to them.
“Kacchan, I didn’t know you were home,” Izuku added with an amused tone, as his scarred fingers put the blanket against his cold shoulders.
He tried his best to hold onto the closest furniture to stand up and welcome his husband, but he wasn’t surprised to see how the blond already prepared everything for him. The shorter figure blushed when he held the calloused hands, highlighting the indelible marks of their past and the wedding ring on his fingers, a symbol of a new beginning. The heat of their skin brought a calm atmosphere into the room, as the taller man stole a quick kiss against his lips, under Hana’s groan. The strong hands ruffled the green messy curls as Izuku laughed at their daughter’s reaction, catching their intertwined fingers that rested against the belly,.
“I made it as soon as possible to return home,” he declared with a gentle tone, welcoming the quick kiss against his lips while holding the small girl into his arms. “I was concerned about the little monster here, but It seemed you two already solved the situation….”
“Did you hear everything ?” Hana suddenly asked with wide-open eyes. A heavy blush colored her freckled cheeks, embarrassed to be caught and yet, the blond simply grinned at the tender sight. He never thought he would be this attached to another person outside the nerd, but it became evident when Hana became a part of their lives, such as the little bean being safe inside the womb.
“Of course I did, but I didn’t want to interrupt the conversation,” he explained with a pinch on her nose, making a chuckle when the small girl rested her against his chest. Izuku’s fingers ruffled her blonde curls before caressing her back and made sure to let her know how it was alright. Hana’svulnerabilities was the most attached side of her personality, especially when she wanted to make everything right and not disappoint her loved ones!
“Are you mad at me ?” She simply asked, her voice muffled in the blond’s shirt. Don’t her wrong, talking about this with Zuku was easier, but she felt bad for putting her dad away from this! Her dads were inspiring people; they even saved the world twice so it was right to share her worries when the couple already faced the worst. “I’m not, Princess, I’m actually proud of you,” the left part caught the small pup off guard, forcing her to reuse her head and look into the similar crimson eyes.
Her chubby fingers held Katsuki’s shirt closer, holding her breath at the unexpected praise. She wondered what was so special about her being admired by her dads most of the time, she was just a normal child….but her parents could disagree and confess how she was the best of all. Katsuki’s face turned into a grin when his lips kissed her blonde curls, taking a quick look at the tender emerald eyes, who never left the reunion.
“But why ?” She mumbled with apprehension. Hana shouldn’t feel bad for showing her interest or natural curiosity, knowing she was welcomed with heartwarming answers. Her crimson irises met the alpha’s, melting his heart on the spot while Izuku simply nodded with a supportive glance.
“Because you did nothing wrong, and found the courage to speak, even if it requires a lot of effort. I was in the same case and I know what I’m talking about, ask the nerd and he’ll share thousands of stories about our youth about this stuff,” the taller man pointed out with a grin, making a slight glimpse at the shorter figure beside him, who simply looked at him with affection.
Dynamight might be the topic of many conversations in the crowd, but Katsuki Bakugo will always be this figure of heroism that lulled Izuku’s and Hana’s hearts, especially when the story was about to repeat itself a third time with the arrival of their new child, probably impatient to hear that kind of stories.
“Life can be tough and even adults don’t know what they’re doing most of the time, but it won’t change the fact that our love will be as timeless as your existence and the memories we’ll forge together in the next years. The next time someone or something is bothering you, don’t hesitate to tell us and maybe we’ll kick their ass, alright ?”
Hana’s face softened, noticing how the omega hadn’t said a word since Katsuki’s intervention, but his amazed eyes never left the scene. There was no doubt, that she found her place in this family and couldn’t wait to let the whole world know about how her dads were the ones at the origin of many dreams inside her mind.
