Beautiful music started playing on the ship’s new radio as Link looked over to the other side of the deck. Tetra was watching the sunset over the sea, the deck of the ship was empty, as the rest of the crew were either below deck or getting supplies from town.
Unsure of why he was doing it, Link found himself walking up to Tetra, her hair flowing in the breeze as she turned around and faced him, Link’s offered his hand. Tetra looked down at the deck, then back up at him with a shy smile that Link hadn’t seen since the day she’d changed into Princess Zelda all that time ago on their first journey. Tetra took Link’s hand, and the duo stepped down to the middle of the ship. Link put his right hand behind Tetra’s shoulder, who blushed as she wrapped her left arm over his lifted arm, then they took each other’s free hands and then they began to sway back and forth in rhythm with the music, every so often turning.
From a distance, Niko saw this from the door and quietly signaled for the others “Guys, look! Link is dancing with the captain.” Nudge, Mako and Gonzo ran to join Niko as they silently peeked out at the duo right as Link twirled Tetra around, very careful to stay hidden. Fortunately, the duo seemed oblivious to anything other than each other. The normal fierce look of the pirate captain faded away as the gentle smile of Princess Zelda was shining through. Link watched as Tetra’s hair waved as they moved, he could hear his heart beating over the music.
From the sidelines, the crew continued to watch them as the Hero of Winds and the Captain moved around the deck without a care in the world. Soon the radio’s sound began to slowly fade, and with it, the duo’s movements began to slow. Link spun Tetra around one final time before they embraced by starboard. The Hero and the Captain were nose to nose as they looked into each other’s eyes, their hearts beating like drums. Once again, Link saw the gentle look of the Princess of Hyrule in Tetra’s eyes, and he felt as peaceful as he had ever been as the sun set around them. Their faces began closing in on each other as their eyes closed.
Unfortunately, before their lips could connect, Gonzo had tried to lean closer to get a better view but ended up tripping over Niko’s leg and they both fell at the door. The sound startled the couple out of their trance. Mako and Nudge quickly fled so they wouldn’t be seen, but Gonzo and Niko, still on the floor, were spotted immediately by the captain and the hero.
“Hey! What’s going on back there!?” Tetra called out, her signature scowl returning as she stared daggers at the two of them.
“Nothing, Captain! Just tripped!” Niko hastily called back.
“Well watch where you’re walking, then!”
“Yes, Miss Tetra!” Gonzo called out.
Tetra looked like she was about to walk closer to scold them more, but her anger seemed to deflate as she felt Link’s hand on her shoulder. She turned to face him, her facial expression going from her scowl to a light smile, and Link smiled back.
Seeing that Tetra was distracted, Niko and Gonzo scrambled to get up and headed back below deck and quickly met back up with Mako and Nudge. They all looked at each other in disbelief at what they’d just witnessed.
“Were they just about to..”
“I think they were.”
