Work Text:

Nine years.

That was how long it had been since the Straw Hat Pirates had disbanded. After claiming the One Piece and shaking the world to its core, each of them set off to pursue their dreams—some opened businesses, some chased new adventures, and others found love and built families. The wild battles and daring escapes became tales passed around in taverns and history books, while the Straw Hats lived on as legends.

Now, for the first time since their separation, they were all gathering again. The occasion? A wedding.

Nami stood in front of the grand doors of a seaside chapel in Alabasta, tugging at her white wedding gown. Her partner, Vivi, stood beside her in a flowing dress the color of desert roses, her blue hair pinned elegantly to the side. The ceremony was set atop a sun-kissed cliff garden, with petals strewn across white stone pathways and the sea whispering below.

“You sure they’re all coming?” Vivi asked softly, nerves dancing in her voice.

“They’d better be,” Nami replied with mock severity. “Luffy swore he’d be here if he had to punch through a sea king.”

As if summoned by her words, the guests began to arrive.

Luffy was first, predictably loud and full of energy, nearly tackling Usopp in a hug that lifted both of them off the ground. Kaya arrived with Usopp, holding his hand and smiling brightly. Robin followed gracefully with Franky—who, in a miracle, was wearing a suit (though it was two sizes too tight and covered in chrome). Chopper ran up the path, waving excitedly, and Jinbei offered a calm, respectful greeting.

But two faces were missing: Zoro and Sanji.

“Typical,” Nami muttered under her breath. “Late as ever.”

Just then, an unusual sight caught her attention. A little girl—around eight or nine—wandered in from the garden path. She had short, messy hair that was half blonde and half green, and striking blue eyes. She looked oddly familiar.

Nami blinked. “Is that…? Sanji?”

“Hey, who’s the kid?” Luffy asked, cocking his head.

“Wait,” Usopp said slowly, narrowing his eyes. “Is that Zoro’s kid?”

“She kinda looks like Sanji too,” Chopper added.

Nami walked up to the girl and crouched down. “Hi, sweetie. Are you lost? Where are your parents?”

The girl looked up at her with wide eyes and smiled. “Auntie Nami?”

Nami froze. “You know me?”

Before the girl could answer, a voice called out from behind.

“Sora! There you are!”

Everyone turned.

Sanji, dressed in a sleek black suit with the buttons undone at the top, jogged toward them. In one arm, he carried a toddler with green hair and a sleepy expression. Another child clung to his free hand. Behind him came Zoro, wearing a dark green haori over his shoulders, holding the hands of two more children.

“Mama! Papa!” the girl—Sora—squealed and ran into Sanji’s arms.

Sanji scooped her up into his other arm with ease and kissed her forehead. “There you are, Sora. You wandered off again.”

“Sorry, Mama,” Sora apologized, resting her head on his shoulder.

“Don’t wander off again, your mother almost went crazy,” Zoro said as he caught up, his voice calm but his brow slightly furrowed with concern.

“Sorry, Papa,” Sora mumbled, head lowered.

“It’s okay, sweetheart,” Sanji said gently, brushing a hand through her hair. “Just wait for us next time, okay? I know waiting for all your siblings to get ready takes a long time.”

The Straw Hats all exchanged shocked glances.

Nami blinked rapidly. “...Did she just say Mama?”

Usopp looked like he was about to faint. “And Papa?!”

Robin raised a brow, half-amused. “Interesting...”

Luffy tilted his head. “Wait, are you guys...?”

Zoro handed one of the triplets to Sanji, who shifted effortlessly to balance two kids in his arms like it was second nature. Meanwhile, the remaining children ran up and hugged their parents, calling out “Mama!” and “Papa!” as they clung to their legs or held up their arms to be lifted.

Sanji turned, finally noticing the stares. “Oh. Hey guys. Didn’t see you all there.”

“These are our kids,” he said, like it was the most normal thing in the world. “This is Sora, she’s eight. The three little devils next to Zoro are the triplets—Kuina, Ren, and Takeshi, they’re five. And this sleepy one here is Aiko, our youngest. She’s two.”

Robin blinked slowly. “You two have five children?”

“And they all look like you!” Luffy shouted.

“Wait, did you adopt them?” Franky asked.

“Adopt?” Zoro snorted. “Why would we do that?”

“You’re both men,” Chopper pointed out, confused.

“Oh, right.” Sanji rubbed the back of his neck. “You guys don’t know.”

“Don’t know what?” Robin asked.

“I’m the one who gave birth to them.”

Silence.

Everyone stared.

“You what?!” Chopper squeaked.

“The cook can give birth because of his damn family’s experiments,” Zoro said bluntly.

“Oh… that actually makes sense,” Chopper muttered.

Usopp flailed. “Hold on! Since when have you two been together?!”

Zoro raised an eyebrow. “You didn’t notice?”

“No!” the crew shouted in unison.

“We got together before the crew split up,” Sanji explained. “You were all so busy with your own paths… We didn’t think it mattered.”

“But you have five kids!” Brook shouted. “You kept that a secret?!”

“You all were off doing your own thing,” Zoro shrugged. “We didn’t want to make a big deal.”

“You should’ve!” Franky said. “These kids are SUPER cute!”

“You can’t just spring five surprise children on us,” Usopp groaned.

“Hey!” Nami barked. “You mean to tell me you’ve been hiding your beautiful children from me?! I’m their auntie! They deserve to know that they have a lovely aunt!”

“Yeah! And Uncle Luffy too!” Luffy threw his arms up.

“And me!” Franky added, pounding his chest.

Zoro groaned. “You guys are too loud. This is exactly why we didn’t tell you.”

“But we can help babysit them,” Robin said with a small smile.

“Well, now that this mosshead finally became the world’s greatest swordsman, he’s got plenty of free time to help raise them,” Sanji teased.

“They’re monsters,” Zoro said flatly.

“That’s mean, Papa!” Ren pouted.

“That’s why we love Mama more!” Kuina declared, crossing her arms sassily.

“Hey!” Zoro barked, offended.

Still holding her bouquet, Nami perked up. “Actually, I could’ve had them be my flower girl or boy for the wedding today!”

“Don’t worry,” Usopp said, grinning as he slung an arm around Kaya. “Me and Kaya are next in line to get married. We’ll definitely invite the kids to be our flower boys and girls.”

Sanji laughed. “They’d love that.”

“Mama, what’s a flower girl?” Sora asked, tugging Sanji’s sleeve.

“I’ll tell you later, sweetheart,” Sanji replied with a soft smile.

The crew laughed and knelt to greet the kids, one by one. Kuina immediately challenged Luffy to an arm wrestle. Ren tried climbing onto Franky’s arm like a tree. Takeshi asked Brook if he was really a skeleton. And Aiko fell asleep on Robin’s lap, content and drooling.

As the crew doted on the children, Usopp and Kaya walked over to Sanji.

“Say, Sanji…” Kaya began, her hands folded politely in front of her. “How was it, giving birth?”

Usopp leaned in too, eyes wide. “Yeah, I mean… I didn’t even know guys could, let alone taking care of five children?! What was that even like?”

Sanji opened his mouth to respond, lifting a hand thoughtfully.

“Well—”

“It’s hell,” Zoro cut in without hesitation, stepping beside Sanji and crossing his arms. “So think carefully before you two decide to have kids. Especially you, Usopp. Or else you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.”

“Hey!” Sanji whipped around with a glare. “You’re the one who caused all this!”

Zoro raised an eyebrow. “I only wanted three kids. Three. Who would’ve guessed you’d end up giving me five?”

Sanji scowled. “You say that like I was out here reproducing on my own!”

“I see,” Usopp said, clearly traumatized just from hearing about it.

Zoro turned to him with a serious face. “Oh, and one more thing, Usopp.”

“Y-Yeah?”

Zoro leaned in like he was revealing the ultimate war secret. “Pregnant Sanji was scarier than anything I’ve ever fought. Ever. Pregnant people are terrifying.”

“What did you just say?!” Sanji’s eyebrow twitched as his heel came crashing down on Zoro’s head.

Zoro stumbled with a yelp and immediately bowed his head. “Sorry, dear!”

The crew burst into laughter, and even Kaya giggled into her hand as Sanji huffed and muttered something about swordsmen with rocks for brains. The children, noticing the noise, ran back to join them, and soon, the field was filled with the chaos of laughter, mock arguments, and a lot of catching up after far too many years apart.

“I still can’t believe it,” Nami said, wiping her eyes. “You two, of all people, are parents.”

“And good ones, too,” Robin said warmly.

The kids waved goodbye as the ceremony began, some running off to explore the flowered gardens while the crew took their seats.

In the back, Zoro leaned close to Sanji, whispering with a smirk, “Still think we should’ve told them earlier?”

Sanji rolled his eyes. “I think watching them lose their minds was worth it.”

Bonus (Next week after the wedding)

SLAM!

The front doors of the seaside restaurant blew open with the force of a cannonball.

“What the hell?!” Zoro snapped from the hallway, balancing Takeshi on his hip and trying to pry another kid off his leg.

“Your beautiful Auntie Nami is here to show my adorable niece and nephews with love!” Nami declared, storming into the room like a queen returning to her palace, gift bags swinging at her sides.

“Uncle Luffy is also here!” Luffy shouted behind her, already halfway through a box of Sanji’s desserts he swiped from the kitchen.

Robin, Franky, Brook, Chopper, Kaya, and Vivi all trailed in with bright smiles—each of them armed with gifts, snacks, or suspiciously enthusiastic plans.

But then came the thunder of calm, heavy footsteps.

“Apologies for the commotion,” a deep, warm voice said as Jinbei stepped into the room, ducking slightly to fit through the doorframe. He smiled broadly, carrying a beautifully carved wooden toy ship under one arm. “But I couldn’t miss a chance to see my favorite little sea sprouts.”

Zoro groaned, looking up at the ceiling like he could escape through it.

“This is exactly why I didn’t want to tell them,” he muttered.

From the kitchen, Sanji leaned on the doorframe, arms folded with an amused smirk on his face. “Come now, dear. You knew what would happen. And you married into this.”

“I was tricked,” Zoro deadpanned.

“Hey!” Nami shouted, suddenly zooming past to snatch the sleepy toddler from Zoro’s arms. “Sora-chan! My little angel! Auntie Nami missed you so much!”

“Mama told me you were coming,” Sora giggled, still sleepy but now grinning wide.

“You trained her well,” Nami said with a wink to Sanji.

“I'll do my best,” Sanji chuckled.

“Where’s Ren?” Luffy called. “He said we were gonna build a trap for giant beetles!”

“Outside with the net!” Ren popped his head out from under the table, already holding a jar full of bugs. “Let’s go!”

“HE’S MY NEW SIDEKICK!” Luffy roared with pride, running after him.

Brook wandered in strumming a guitar. “Where is little Aiko? I have new music for her to hear.”

“In the music room,” Sanji replied, “but keep it under five decibels or Zoro’s going to—”

“—yell at you for waking the baby,” Zoro finished, bouncing the baby with one hand.

Franky’s booming voice echoed through the hallway. “WHERE IS MY LITTLE BATTLE CHAMPION?! I’VE MADE AN UPGRADED MECHA DINOSAUR!”

“You’re gonna regret that,” Zoro grumbled.

Then came Jinbei, lowering himself to one knee as Kuina ran up to him.

“Uncle Jinbei!” she squealed.

“You’ve grown even stronger,” Jinbei said warmly, ruffling her hair. “Have you been keeping up your ocean drills?”

“Every morning!” she chirped proudly. “Papa teaches us sword forms, and Mama teaches cooking and kicking.”

“That’s a powerful combination,” Jinbei said with a nod of approval. “Perhaps I’ll join you for practice tomorrow.”

“We’d love that!” she beamed.

Robin approached with a camera. “You know what would make this moment even more perfect? A family photo. I brought matching outfits for all of you.”

Zoro nearly dropped Takeshi.

“No.”

Sanji was already pulling out a gold-stitched bib with Zoro’s name on it. “You heard her. Put this on, dear.”

Zoro gave Sanji a glare, but Takeshi on his arm gurgled and grabbed the bib with a joyful squeal.

Zoro sighed. “…Fine.”

As the sun began to set outside the restaurant, chaos blossomed inside: laughter, footsteps, the clatter of toys and plates, and excited screaming from both kids and adults. Jinbei calmly watched it all from the corner with a gentle smile on his face, sipping tea and letting Sora braid his fin-like sideburns while she explained which sibling was the strongest.

“Your family is wild,” Jinbei chuckled as Sanji brought him another cup.

“They’re Straw Hats. What did you expect?” Sanji replied fondly.

“And I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Jinbei said with a quiet laugh.

Zoro, from across the room, sighed deeply as Kuina and Ren climbed onto his shoulders while Franky tried to test a new backpack jet-propeller on Takeshi.

“Still think telling them was a mistake?” Sanji asked, nudging Zoro’s side.

Zoro paused. His kids were laughing. The crew was together again. And despite all the noise, the warmth in the air was undeniable.

“Ask me again after they leave,” he grunted.

“But they’re staying for the week.”

Zoro visibly deflated. “I’m never sleeping again.”

Sanji smirked and kissed his cheek. “Welcome to parenthood, love.”
