Summary
The boy huffs thoughtfully, leaning back on his hands and tilting his head to look at the ceiling. Or the spot where the ceiling should be. He is so oddly comfortable in his nudity. Then again, if Eddie looked like that - all smooth golden skin and lean muscle, like some fucking underwear model from a fashion catalogue - he'd probably be the same.
“Well, I'm just glad you're awake now. You were out for quite a while, I was starting to get worried. Whatever they gave us to knock us out, they probably hit you with a harder dose than me.”
Eddie’s stomach sinks.
“Wait. They? Who's they?”
The boy exhales a long breath. One hand reaches out through the strange, cold not-water to settle on top of his.
“Don't freak out now,” he whispers, jerking his chin at something behind Eddie’s back. “They've been watching us ever since I woke up.”
