⬇ I might be I allergic to my best friend
I (18M) have a best friend (18M). We’re a typical pair of best friends, the ones who go over to each other’s houses everyday, play video games together, cuddle if we’re really feeling it, and steal each other’s food. Typical best friend stuff. I’ve known him since childhood, and he’s like a second half to me! But recently, I’ve been feeling sick whenever I’m near him. I think it’s an allergic reaction.
It all started when my ex best friend (19M) died. We fought beforehand (not really serious, he just knocked me out a couple of times. Apparently he also broke one of my bones, but I don’t really have the money to go back to the doctor, and bones grow back, right?) but despite that, during the funeral I couldn’t stop feeling guilty over his death. Which sucked, cause he was an asshole, y’know? Even broke my best friend’s knee till he couldn’t compete in taekwondo competitively. Ruined my best friend’s life, man. But despite everything, I found myself crying almost everyday because of him. Baekjin was an asshole, sure, but I didn’t want him to die either. Anyways, I got into this pretty bad depressive state. Skipped school, couldn’t get out of bed, couldn’t eat. But my best friend came every single day. Just to check on me. He fed me, bathed me too, and even hugged me when I cried so hard I almost passed out. And ever since then, I’ve been feeling sick around him. Like an allergic reaction. I asked Google and it said I had 10 days to live, but it’s been 11 days, so I think I’m fine. So I’m searching for a second opinion on Reddit!
Here are a few symptoms:
1. My face feels like it’s on fire whenever he’s around me. It all started when he was bathing me. I was still in a pretty bad state, and I didn’t shower for like three days. But he came over and dragged me to the shower, and then he washed my back and my hair and stuff. We’re childhood friends, so he’s seen me naked plenty of times. But for some reason, when I saw him bathing me and realized I was completely naked, my face felt like it was on fire. Even though he was using cold water. Not sure why this happens, but my face also burns really bad whenever I eat passionfruit because I’m allergic to passionfruit. So maybe I’m allergic to Gotak too.
2. He makes my heart beat really fast. One time, after I started going back to school again, me and my friends (including my best friend) decided to go to my dad’s restaurant. There was me, my best friend, my other best friend (18M), my other best friend (17M), and my other best friend (18M). So we were playing truth or dare right, and the loser had to wear a pair of cat ears I found under my dad’s bed. Fastforward, he got a dare to kiss the prettiest person in the room. Just like, as-homies, y’know? We’re all pretty close so it wasn’t weird or anything! But he hesitated for a while, so I told him straight up to just kiss me. I mean, we’re best friends! Best friends can kiss each other. Sometimes I even want to kiss him. But then he turned as red as Sakuragi’s hair and then he said he’d forfeit and lose. Afterwards, my heart was beating really fastly. Like, too fast till my chest was starting to hurt. It was pretty painful. My best friend who’s really smart (18M) said my heart’s beating so fast because of my “acid reflex?” I think it’s a muscle in your heart that makes it beat faster. But I’m still not sure, cause my heart stopped beating as fastly after my best friend left.
3. He makes my stomach ache. I’ll be hanging out with him and then he’ll throw an arm around my friend (17M) for example, and then I’ll feel this weird churning in my stomach. I thought it was because I’m lacktoes intolerant. But recently, he’s been hanging out more with (17M), and it makes me feel something weird in my stomach, even if I didn’t consume any toes! Sometimes I even want to punch Juntae. Not like I actually want to punch him, he’s my close friend too, and if anyone laid a finger on him I’d throw them out of a speeding motorcycle. But Go Hyuntak’s MY bestfriend! Not Suho’s! Not Sieun’s! Not Juntae’s! My best friend!
That’s all the symptoms I can think of right now. Any idea on what sickness I have?

⬇ OP, I think you’re 100% in love with him. Most people don’t have the urge to kiss their so-called “friends” on the lips. It also sounds like he’s in love with you. Like really, really in love. Please, confess or at the very least talk this out with him. You sound really important to him, so even if he doesn’t feel the same way, he’ll still be your best friend at the end of the day.
Also, you should recheck the thread. Not sure if it was intentional, but you mentioned your friends’ real names. Like, 5 separate times. Best of luck!

⬇ In that case we might be schoolmates. I thought this was a fake story at first, but then I realized that the names OP uses are eerily similar to the names of people in my school’s basketball club. The “Gotak” guy OP was referring to oddly shares a name with my school’s basketball club’s VP if I recall correctly. Nice dude. The entire club is pretty nice, actually. They’ve always been gay as hell, though, so I wouldn’t doubt if this is actually one of the members.

⬇ i only know the captain of the basketball club, but really, who doesn’t? he’s basically our school's mascot. not so sure abt the other members, but i do see him hangout with one guy a lot. they’re unbelievably affectionate. i think its a Bro thing. but if this post is actually him then this is not a bro thing.

⬇ They’re legitimately gay. One time I was cleaning out the gym storage cabinet and I found the two of them asleep cuddled up. I think they got locked in there, which is stupid because the storage cabinet literally opens from the inside. Could be just bro-cuddling. Also, another time, I saw one of them straddling the other’s lap? For no apparent reason? While caressing each other's hair? I’m clingy with my bros, sure, but I would not do allat. Then again, maybe it’s just me.

⬇I am 56 years old. When I was a young boy, about 18 or 19, I fell in love with my best friend too. I chalked it up to overall fondness for him, and then when the feeling in my stomach didn’t dissipate, I chalked it up just to a bad case of food poisoning. But the feeling persisted, no matter how long I tried to make it go away. You see, where I live, people like me aren’t considered normal. I kept it to myself for years. When I was about 25 years old, he died in a car accident. I never got the chance to tell him how much I loved him. How the ground seemed to sprout roses wherever he laid his feet. How the world seemed brighter with him. I’m still unmarried to this day. May we meet again, Kotaro.
