Summary
Ten years ago, Jake carried everything he owned onto a train bound for the Midwest, days after losing his only remaining parent. Through finding and then losing an adoptive family, through cattle ranching and university and enlisting in the Navy — he’s never stopped thinking about the boy he met on the orphan train, wondering what became of him. It’s astronomically unlikely that they’ll ever meet again, as much as Jake wishes they might. But this New Years, he’s more preoccupied with the (hot) asshole at the piano in Javy’s favorite bar.
