Impostor

Summary:

"Wait..." Mira muttered, her eyes narrowed as she stared at the pictures.

"What is it? What did you find?" Zoey asked, peering over Mira's shoulder before she froze.

The picture was old, taken by paparazzi when Rumi was still young. It was deemed edited by the public, and people were angry at the company and paparazzi that took the picture.

But it showed Celine snarling at the camera as she shielded a nervous toddler Rumi behind her, clutching Celine's leg sleeve.

But what was evident were the claws that Celine had, along with her sharp teeth and amber eyes.

"Holy shit like mother like daughter apparently. Miyeong fucked a demon and it's Celine."

Someone choked.

Celine is a human, the Honmoon gave her the gift to mimic demons.

The little bundle in her arms is a half-demon.

There are... slight misunderstandings as Rumi grows up.

(Not that Celine ever corrects it, Rumi is just too cute!)

Chapter Text

Celine is the Honmoon's favorite.

The girl was fierce, diligent, swift, and so much more to the point she was the leader of her group. But Celine's favorite was not the Honmoon, but her bandmates.

The Honmoon couldn't care about that. It coos at her when she takes care of her girls, and they take care of her too. It loves how protective she is towards them even when they're simply doing groceries.

It loves the fact that she cares for her bandmates and the fans.

But it could feel the hesitance in her mind, sense the slight fear.

What if I'm too slow to help them? She asked herself.

What if I'm not there? Poppy is faster than me, not that I mind, but she's as reckless as her swiftness, what if I couldn't reach her?

What if I couldn't hear a demon sneaking up on Mi-yeong?

The Honmoon worried for Celine, always being paranoid.

Celine is the Honmoon's favorite.

It grabs a small bit of its powers, not exactly enough to weaken it, but enough to make it do something.

The Honmoon gives Celine a gift—

Mimicry.

It started small for Celine, as everything started out as— or almost everything, probably.

It actually made her stressed the fuck out when all of a sudden during midnight with no lights on, she could see clearly.

Very jarring considering she almost stepped on chips.

It started out small, in her opinion, in its opinion too. Its gift only affected her senses, made her more sensitive. She could hear farther, see better, even smell demons.

The demons, in her own opinion, smelled like sulfur and ash, like Poppy predicted if they could smell their scents if possible.

It helped. She could hear if the Honmoon had a small tear near them, or if a demon was behind them.

And then it started escalating. Her strength was better than before (her clothes were a bit tight now, explaining to Mi-yeong and Poppy why was very embarrassing), she was faster ("OH MY GOD—" "I am so sorry!"), and...

Her ears were slowly looking a bit more pointed, and her nails were becoming a bit sharper.

The more she fought demons, the more she could see become confused as they fought her. Fighting water demons? She has their gills. Faceless ones? She has their speed. Fire demons? You guessed it.

You are one of us. One snarled. You dare betray Gwi-Ma for two humans you've deemed your ma—?

But I am not one of you? She'd growl back in confusion before she'd kill them with her dual swords. More demons were confused as time went on, but they also became more fierce towards her, as if there was a challenge or she ticked them off in someway or another.

She did not bother asking what they thought she was.

Mi-Yeong and Poppy were becoming more nervous as they let her attack demons. They wanted her safe, but she wanted them safe, she would get so many wounds and would crawl out of hell itself just to keep them safe.

Oh, and her instincts? She almost mistook them for intrusive thoughts, really—

She wanted to fucking growl like an animal or weirdly rub her cheeks against them. What the fuck.

It was only during the time she finally met the demon that Mi-Yeong had been secretly meeting up that she had realized what the Honmoon and gifted her to become.

It was also one of the times she unsheathed her supposed-to-be-non-existent claws while looking at him.

She did not have patterns.

But she was acting like a demon and it scared her.

Celine is a human gifted to mimic demons.

The little bundle that she has to take care of is a half-demon and Celine has no idea how to care for a child, much less only half human.

But she tries. Kinda.

She has no fucking idea what she's doing.

The infant was on her chest, clutching her shirt with tiny claws, sleeping like a kitten and even purring. It was even more bizarre because Rumi didn't entirely look human— little claws, strange hoof-paw legs, a tail, and... eyes.

Her instincts told her two things, perhaps it's because of the Honmon's gift?

"..." Celine didn't speak, simply lightly patting the infant's head. She's so small. She thought. Are demons born this small? She's not premature.

She gently scratched Rumi's head carefully, the purring becoming slightly louder.

"Hm." She hummed, laying her head back on the pillow beneath her. Rumi is surprisingly quiet unlike her mother.

Her mind slowly drifted off to sleep, barely registering her own chest rumbling strangely and the Honmoon pulsing vibrantly.

She'll take care of the infant once she wakes up, but for now, she just wants to nap.
