friends with Benefits(Naruto's POV)

Summary:

It took Naruto six months to stop thinking about Sakura—well, three, if he was being honest.

Three months to shake the guilt of moving on so fast. But really, who was counting? Because the truth was, nobody could spend that much time with Hinata and not fall in love with her.

Work Text:

Naruto was never the first person to pick up on a situation, but he was pretty sure Hinata had just confessed to him.

And he seriously hadn’t meant to kiss her.

It was just—she looked so beautiful standing there, all red-faced and flustered, words tumbling out like she was about to explode. He couldn’t help himself. His brain short-circuited, his body moved first, and before he knew it… his lips were on hers.

Was he a bad guy?

He’d just finished confessing to Sakura, his chest still tight from the rejection, and now here he was… kissing Hinata.

But man—she had the softest lips.

For half a second, guilt gnawed at him. And then her little gasp vibrated against his mouth, and his brain promptly stopped working again.

But then Hinata kissed him again.

And Naruto swore his mind just left his body.

Everything else—the party, Sakura, the sting of rejection—vanished in an instant. All that existed was Hinata’s lips moving against his, soft and desperate, like she’d been holding this in just as long as he had without even knowing it.

“I see you,” she had said. “I’ve always seen you.”

Naruto felt like it was almost too good to be true.

A smart, pretty girl like Hinata… liked him?!

His chest tightened, a mix of shock and giddy warmth bubbling up inside him. He wasn’t used to being seen like that—not really. But Hinata had said it with such certainty that he almost believed it. Almost.

But deep down, he knew he wasn’t ready for a relationship. He didn’t know how long it would take him to get over Sakura—months, years maybe. If he were really thinking things through, he’d have stopped this whole thing with Hinata before it even started.

Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t thinking with his brain.

No, his penis seemed to be leading the way.

That was the only explanation for why he’d dragged Hinata into the wooded area behind the house. Or why, later, he’d all but hauled her upstairs into his room.

The next morning, Hinata was in his bed.

Memories from the night before hit him all at once—her lips, her soft gasps, the way she’d clung to him like she never wanted to let go.

For half a second, he thought maybe he was dreaming. But then she stirred, her big eyes locking on his as she clutched the sheet to her chest like a lifeline.

“H-Hinata?” he croaked.

She nodded, cheeks flaming.

Naruto’s brain promptly short-circuited. “...Fuck.”

He’d almost ruined the moment with his nonsensical blundering. His need to explain shit ended up doing more harm than good as she began to cry.

But Naruto had to man up and tell her the truth: he wasn’t prepared for a relationship, and he didn’t want her waiting for him to ride out a feeling he might never be rid of.

Then she said it—she wanted him. As long as I have you.

And it blew his fucking mind.

He’d never received such unconditional love in his life from someone who wasn’t family, and it made him look at her, really look at her.

Because her words—her words made him feel like he was enough.

And later, after he’d fucked her silly, he made her breakfast and saw her out.

He guessed he had a girlfriend.

But then Naruto hadn’t seen or heard from Hinata that whole day. Or the next.

He chalked it up to nerves—Hinata was shy, he knew that. She probably just needed time.

But when he finally saw her that Tuesday morning, he sure as hell hadn’t expected her to literally run away from him.

She saw him, froze like a deer in headlights, and then bolted in the opposite direction.

And as he stood there mid-wave, dumbfounded, a sudden thrill ran through him.

Now, Naruto was no stranger to a chase.

There was Sasuke, and that whole weird thing he’d had going on when they were kids. Sakura, who never saw him as anything more than a friend. Hell, even that Shion girl back in freshman year who thought she was playing hard to get—terribly, he might add.

But this? This was nothing like that.

He didn’t know what this was.

Was it because she was so shy?

Or was it because… she was his girlfriend?

He remembered what she’d said before she left: “Nothing’s gonna be different between us.”

But apparently, she lied. And maybe that upset him more than it should have.

But this was what Naruto did best. Chase.

He admitted it—he stalked her.

For over two weeks, exactly.

The first week, he popped up wherever she was, grinning like an idiot every time she tried to duck away.

The second week, he pulled back, watched her start to let her guard down… only for disappointment to flash across her face when she realized he wasn’t chasing her anymore.

It was laughable, really.

And when she really thought he’d left her alone… that’s when he showed up.

Right there in the study room—the last one in the corner of the library, the one you could miss if you didn’t know to look for it.

Hinata had her books spread out, head bent low, completely unsuspecting. And Naruto grinned, because she had no idea what was coming.

Naruto eased the door shut behind him without a sound, padding across the room on quiet steps that didn’t suit him at all. He slid into the chair beside her, propping his chin in his palm like he’d been there all along.

“Miss me?” he whispered.

Hinata jumped so hard her pen skittered across the page, leaving a long black streak.

“So,” he drawled, leaning back with that infuriating grin, “what happened to ‘nothing will change,’ Hinata?”

Her face went red instantly, and Naruto nearly laughed. God, it was adorable. He could only imagine what was spinning through her head right then.

He listened as she stammered through half-formed excuses, tripping over her own words—until she blurted out, voice too loud in the quiet room:

“I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and I got embarrassed!”

For a second, Naruto just blinked at her. Then the words hit, and heat shot up his neck. She’d been thinking about it? About him?

A slow grin tugged at his mouth, because damn if that didn’t make his chest feel lighter than air.

“That so?” he asked, cocking his head, tone low and teasing—but his pulse was pounding. Hinata made a strangled sound and hid her face behind her hands. He laughed, softer this time, the edge of cockiness slipping. “Well… the only way to get used to it is to practice.”

Her fingers tightened over her face like she could block him out of existence. Naruto tilted closer, elbows braced on the desk. He caught the tips of her ears, red as hell, poking through her hair.

“Come on, Hina,” he coaxed, his voice dropping without him meaning to. “Let’s get some practice in, yeah?”

She peeked at him between her fingers, and that tiny glimpse just about knocked the breath out of him. Damn, she was cute. His grin came easy this time—not the cocky mask, but the real thing, because if he didn’t touch her again, he thought he might actually explode.

He reached out and gently tugged at her wrists until her hands fell away. No chance to second-guess. He leaned in, brushing his lips against hers—soft, careful, nothing like the messy fire of that first night. This was deliberate, intentional, and it set his pulse racing all the same.

Hinata gasped into the kiss, and that little sound went straight to his head. Naruto deepened it, slow at first, then hungrier when her hands clutched his hoodie and pulled him closer. His fingers found her waist, sliding up her side, memorizing the shape of her like he’d been waiting for this all his life.

His hands slowly crawled up her body, fingertips skimming her ribs through her sweater, and she made this soft whimpering sound. The sound went straight to his cock, made him grip her tighter.

"Naruto," she breathed against his mouth, and the way she said his name made his whole body tighten. He pulled back just enough to see her face—lips swollen, eyes half-lidded and dazed.

Beautiful. Erotic.

"We should probably—" she started, glancing toward the door, but Naruto wasn't having it. Not when she was looking at him like that, all flushed and breathless.

His mouth found that spot just below her ear that made her shiver the other night, and yeah—there it was again, that little tremor that ran through her whole body.

“Oh no, no, no, Hina,” he smirked, mischief sparking in his eyes. “We’re practicing, remember?”

Then she said his name again, that whiny little tone that made his head spin. He couldn’t tell if she meant stop or more, but the way her fists clutched his jacket while he sucked at her neck told him everything he needed to know. She wanted it—whether she could say it out loud or not.

His hand slid down to her thigh, fingers pressing into the soft flesh through her jeans. The fabric was in the way—everything was in the way—and he wanted to tear it all off, wanted to feel her skin against his like that night.

"Someone could come in," she whispered, but her fingers were still twisted in his hoodie, holding him close even as she protested.

"Let them."

The words came out rougher than he'd meant, but something about having her this close again made him reckless. Made him stupid.

His hands trailed upward again, toward those beautiful breast she had, he wanted to suck em.

His fingers found the hem of her sweater, sliding underneath to brush against warm skin. The contact made them both freeze for a heartbeat—then Hinata arched into his hands the fight in her dying at his touch and that was all the permission he needed.

He pushed higher, the sweater dragging against his wrists, and found the edge of her bra.

Naruto groaned, low and guttural, and pulled the bra down to expose the curve of one breast. He brought his mouth to her skin, hot and open, and Hinata let out a muffled cry that shot straight through him.

His tongue flicked over her nipple, and she squirmed under him, the table creaking slightly, groaning despite her attempts to keep quiet.

His pulse roared in his ears, drowning out everything except the sound of her losing her mind as he sucked on her breasts.

It wasn’t enough. Not nearly. She wasn’t close enough, not pressed against him the way he needed. Naruto hooked his fingers in her sweater and tugged it up, stripping it off in one motion. Her bra went next.

Hinata gasped, arms instinctively wrapping around her chest the second she was bare. Her cheeks were flaming, but Naruto didn’t give her a chance to get embarrassed.

He gave Hinata a cheeky look before moving her hands, entwining It with his “Don’t hide from me Hina”

Her eyes widened, but when she didn’t pull away, he took it as his cue to keep going. He dipped his head, catching one nipple between his lips, and the way she arched into him made him lose his goddamn mind

Naruto didn’t give her a chance to think, didn’t give her a chance to second-guess. His mouth was relentless, dragging more of those breathy little sounds from her lips, and he couldn’t get enough.

He just wanted more—more of her, more of this. He sucked at her nipple until he felt her whole body shaking, then switched to the other side, licking and nipping until he thought she might actually scream.

His cock throbbed, hard and demanding, and he wanted so bad to strip her jeans off, bend her over this desk, fuck her until she forgot how to be embarrassed. but he was a patient man, he wanted her to be soaked for him, like she had before. right here in this study hall, he’d give her a lesson she wouldn't forget.

Naruto was panting when he finally pulled back, a ragged, breathless sound that matched the way she was breathing. He wanted to hear more of it, all of it. That thought made him dizzy, made him want to tear his own clothes off and give her exactly that.

His hands worked her jeans open. the zipper came down, and his fingers skimmed underneath, pressing against the heat of her through her panties. Fuck, she was soaked.

Hinata bucked against his touch and he was so fucking hard, it almost hurt, but he made himself slow down.

He yanked her jeans down, leaving them tangled around her ankles, and kissed his way down her stomach, pausing at the waistband of her panties. He could feel her trembling, see it in the way her thighs tensed under his grip

She was panting, fighting for air, for words. "N-Naruto-kun,w-we should stop," she said, but she didn't mean it, not with her body straining toward him, not with her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him down.

He grinned against her skin. "You sure about that, Hina?"

Then he licked her through the thin cotton, and she let out a breathless cry, her back bowing off the table.

He groaned, low in his throat, then hooked his fingers in the lace and pulled it down. The panties joined her jeans at her ankles, and he barely took a second to look before his mouth was on her.

Hinata bit off a cry, fist shoved into her mouth to keep from screaming. Her taste, her smell—it was wild, intoxicating, and Naruto couldn’t get enough. He licked into her, slow and deep, then faster when her hips bucked off the table.

Naruto’s fingers spread her open, and he went at her like a starving man, tongue working her clit in slick, messy circles. Her legs clamped around his shoulders, her body tensing like she was trying to hold back, and he wasn’t having it. He wanted to hear her, wanted to feel her come apart.

His fingers found her entrance, slipping inside, and she cried out, loud and ragged. The sound shot through him, made him throb, made him suck harder at her clit until she was gasping, unable to muffle herself, her hand slamming down on the table, trying to find something to hold on to.

There it was. She was close, so close, and Naruto could feel her tightening around his fingers, feel the tension building in her whole body. He wanted to feel it all, feel every second of it.

He curled his fingers up just right, flicking his tongue over her clit, and she shattered. Her thighs squeezed around him, tremors running through her as she came, and god, it was the hottest thing he’d ever seen.

He kept going, drawing it out until her cries turned to gasps, until she was shaking and breathless and spent.

His cock was as hard as a brick as looked her laid out on the table. He couldn’t take it anymore. He needed to be inside her, needed it like air. Hinata was still catching her breath, wasn’t even done shaking, when he stood and yanked his hoodie over his head.

He crawled back up her body, jeans still tangled around her legs, and caught her lips in a hungry kiss. She tasted herself on him, and the realization made him groan.

He was all heat and desperation, his cock straining against the confines of his pants, and he needed her to feel it. Needed her to know how much he wanted her.

Her hands tugged athis waistband, fumbling to get it off, and he nearly lost it right there.
He shoved his jeans and boxers down, cock springing free, and Hinata gasped into his mouth. He grinned, pulling back just enough to look at her. Her face was flushed, her lips were swollen, and Naruto swore she was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.

“You want this, right?” His voice was rough, breathless.

Hinata hesitated for half a second, then nodded, cheeks turning crimson.

“Say it.”

Her eyes met his, wide and wanting. She swallowed,“Y-yes,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

His grin stretched wide, satisfaction and awe battling inside him. She really wanted this. She really wanted him.

He lined himself up, losing all sense as he thrust inside her in one long, smooth motion.

“Fuck,” Naruto groaned, his forehead dropping to hers as he buried himself to the hilt. She was so tight, so goddamn warm, and he swore his vision went white for a second.

Her head fell back, a soft moan escaping her lips, and Naruto tried to keep it together. He pulled back, then drove into her again, and grinned, this was better than he remember, was it because he was completely sober now. But Hinata arched against him, taking him in, and it was the best thing he’d thought he’d ever felt.

He picked up the pace, the table scraping against the floor with every thrust, and Hinata was all gasps and moans and breathless little cries.

"Na—Naruto!" The way she said his name—and he felt like a king. He moved forward, picking her up from the desk and dropped them into the chair, forcing her to sit onto his cock, Hinata let out a choked cry.

His fingers dug into her hips, guiding her as she bounced on top of him while He thrusted up into her, fast and deep.

Her arms wrapped around his shoulders, nails digging into his skin as she held on for dear life. He braced one arm on the back of the chair and the other under her ass, driving her down onto his cock like he couldn't get enough, like he’d never get enough.

Her thighs tightened around his waist, and he was losing it, losing all control. He was gonna come, and he wanted her right there with him, wanted to feel it, hear it. His hand slipped between them, finding her clit, rubbing over it until she was gasping, clenching around him.

“Hinata,” he breathed, and her head fell back, her back arching. He was so fucking close, so goddamn close.

Then she came, and he felt her whole body tense, felt her squeeze him so tight he couldn’t breathe. Hinata was lost to her orgasm, and he was right there with her, and he couldn’t hold back. "Hinata!" he groaned, loud and helpless, his whole body shuddering as he came inside her.

They sat there, tangled together in the chair, his head buried in the crook of her neck while he tried to remember how to breathe. Her fingers traced over his skin, soft and gentle, and he thought he might melt right into her.

“Wow,” he finally managed, breathless. “You ready to practice again?”

Hinata gave a tiny squeak, but she didn’t deny him.

It took Naruto six months to stop thinking about Sakura—well, three, if he was being honest. Three months to shake the guilt of moving on so fast. But really, who was counting? Because the truth was, nobody could spend that much time with Hinata and not fall in love with her. He sure couldn’t. He couldn’t even keep his hands off her, if he was honest with himself.

But Hinata… it seemed like she wanted to keep things quiet. If he tried to kiss her in public, she’d duck her head or dodge to the side, cheeks blazing. Sometimes she’d even bolt the second someone else walked into the room. It drove him nuts—not because he thought she didn’t want him, but because he knew she did. He could feel it every time she curled into him behind closed doors.

But it was fine. He’d comply—for now. If Hinata wanted to keep their thing under wraps a little longer, he could deal with it.

Things changed, though, the night he was appointed president of his fraternity. The house was packed, music thumping, voices shouting his name as people clapped him on the back. He was surrounded on all sides, grins and congratulations coming at him from every direction.

And yet, the only one he wanted to hear it from was her.

It took a while to spot her—half-hidden near the wall, drink clutched in both hands like a shield. Typical Hinata. But the second he saw her, the noise around him just… dimmed.

He cut through the crowd, ignoring the shouts of “Prez!” and the guys trying to shove shots into his hand, until he was right in front of her.

“You’re hiding again,” he teased, leaning close so she could hear him. “What’d I tell you about that, Hina?”

She flushed, fumbling for an excuse, but then her eyes softened. “Congratulations,” she said quietly, and he almost missed it under the music. Then, a little louder, a little steadier: “I’m so proud of you, Naruto.”

He froze.

Out of everything he’d heard that night—the cheers, the praise, the chants of his name—that was the one that hit him in the chest and stayed there. I’m proud of you.

His throat tightened, and for once he didn’t have a joke ready. Because in that moment, he realized it: this was it. He didn’t want to keep things in shadows anymore, didn’t want half-measures or silence. Hinata wasn’t just someone he snuck around with—she was his. His girlfriend. And hearing her say she was proud of him made him want to shout it from the rooftop that she was his.

Suddenly, being president didn’t feel like the biggest win of his life. Hinata did.

A year into their relationship, he finally brought her home.

“This is Hinata,” he said, chest puffed out with pride as he stood in the doorway.

His mom’s eyes lit up instantly, and she gave him that knowing smile—the kind that said she’d been waiting for this moment. His dad gave a single approving nod before laughter boomed through the house, warm and welcoming as they pulled Hinata into the fold.

Naruto spent the whole evening watching her fit in so effortlessly, his heart swelling every time she smiled at something his mom said, or laughed at one of his dad’s stories.

And that night, when they made love after leaving his parents’ home, Naruto knew with absolute certainty: he was going to marry this woman.

So of course he’d plan out the most amazing proposal. Nothing half-baked would do for Hinata—not when she’d spent years believing she had to hide herself away. He wanted the whole world to see her, to see them.

And of course he roped Sakura into his shenanigans. Who knew Hinata better than him?

Between the two of them, he figured they could pull off something unforgettable.

Naruto grinned just thinking about it. Hinata deserved nothing less.

Graduation night, the party was loud, the air buzzing with relief and celebration. Everyone was there—laughing, dancing, drinking like finals had never existed. But Naruto had only one thing on his mind.

Hinata.

He spotted her across the room, looking beautiful as ever, tugging nervously at her dress like she wasn’t the most gorgeous person in the building. The second their eyes met, he felt that surge in his chest again. Pride. Love. The bone-deep certainty that this was it.

“Hina, you’re here,” he breathed when he finally reached her, unable to keep the awe out of his voice. “You look… gorgeous.”

Her cheeks flushed, and his heart nearly gave out. He didn’t even wait—just grabbed her hand and tugged her outside before she could vanish into the crowd.

The yard was strung with lights, petals scattered across the grass, the giant sign waiting just like he and Sakura had planned: Will you marry me?

She tried to protest, assuming it had to be for someone else, but Naruto was already dropping to one knee. In that moment, he knew—this was going to be one of those memories he carried for the rest of his life.

“B-but Naruto… we weren’t even dating!”

A record screeched somewhere—or maybe that was just his heart stopping.

He felt torn. Of course they were dating. Weren’t they?

That’s when Sakura’s voice rang out across the yard: “Naruto, you dolt—did you even ask her to be your girlfriend?!”

He winced. Okay, technically… no. But surely Hinata realized they were together! Right?

He scrambled back up from one knee, staring at her wide eyes and flushed face. Hinata looked like she was on the verge of passing out, and he had no idea if it was from shock, embarrassment, or both.

“What do you mean we weren’t dating?” he asked cautiously, eyes wide. “Was it only me feeling that way?” His heart lurched at the thought.

“N-no—yes—no! But Naruto, you—you—how was I supposed to know we were dating?”

“What? We went on plenty of dates!”

“I thought they were friendly dates!”

“You met my parents!”

“As your best friend!”

“I told you I love you!”

“I thought you meant as a friend!”

“I said it multiple times, Hina! How could you not think we were dating? Everyone knew we were together!”

A chorus erupted from the shadows:

“Yeah, we all knew,” Ino called, smirking.

Sasuke gave a deadpan shrug. “Obvious.””

Even Kiba barked out a laugh. “Seriously, Hinata, he never shut up about you!”

Seriously, what was up with Hinata? If they weren’t dating, what the heck did she think they’d been doing this whole time?

“Naruto, when would we have even begun dating? You didn’t say anything.”

What? When did they begin dating?

“I thought it was obvious!” he shot back, exasperated. “We started sleeping together, Hina! And you said you’d take me as I am when I told you I couldn’t give you my heart yet!”

Hinata’s face flamed. “Naruto, I meant… as friends with benefits.”

Naruto froze, blinking at her in stunned silence. Quiet… shocked didn’t even begin to cover it.

“Friends with—Hina, what kind of friends do you know that do that?!” he sputtered, waving his arms like the whole concept was an offense to logic itself.

From the sidelines, Ino let out a loud snort. “The kind who sneak off during study hall and think nobody notices!”

Naruto’s head whipped around. “YOU NOTICED?!”

Sasuke’s flat voice cut in. “Everyone noticed.”

Naruto gaped, scandalized, before spinning back to Hinata with wild determination.

“Fine! Then let’s do this properly.”

Before she could argue, he dropped to one knee again, grabbing her hand like he hadn’t just made the biggest mess of his life in front of half their friends.

“Hyuuga Hinata,” he said, voice carrying louder than the party music thumping inside, “will you be my girlfriend?”

Hinata squeaked, her whole face red, but she managed a tiny nod. “Y-yes!”

“Good.” Naruto’s grin split wide across his face as he jumped back to his feet, still clutching her hand. “Now let’s try this again.”

He didn’t even pause for breath.

“Hina, these past two years have been the best of my life. Will you marry me?”

Hinata slapped her hands over her face, squeaking another “Yes!” through her fingers.

Their friends erupted—Ino cheering, Kiba howling with laughter, Sakura groaning into her palm, and Sasuke muttering something about “idiots.”

Naruto just beamed, chest so full he thought it might burst. He didn’t care that he’d done this completely backward. He didn’t care that everyone was laughing. Hinata had said yes—twice—and that was all that mattered.

And in their later years, when their son brought home his fiancée, Hinata couldn’t resist.

She smiled sweetly and asked, “Did you ask her to be your girlfriend first?”

Naruto nearly choked on his tea. “HINATA!”

Hinata only laughed, Boruto blinked between them, utterly confused and Naruto groaned into his hands, muttering about how he was never going to live that down.
