If You Were A Girl

Summary:

Connor McKinley has always been generally stoic. Ever since Steve Blade he's learnt to turn it off and not rope others into sin...but it all changes one day when the handsome Elder Price arrives at his district.

Chapter Text

"The new recruits are here!"
Connor cheered after seeing the shape of two new missionaries at the door. He quickly went to go shake their hands and lunged for the first one he saw. He shook it and slowly turned his attention towards the man at the other end of it.
The man had eyes in a deep brown shade of brown, speckled with shades of bronze and lined with elegantly curved lashes.
He also had cherry tinted lips, curved into what was not quite a scowl, but definitely not a smile either. His lips looked soft and Connor found himself wondering how they would feel pressed against his...oh they would feel gentle and warm...oh and Connor could wrap his arms around the boys neck, and then they'd both sink deeper into the kiss and- shoot.
Turn it off.
As guilty as he felt, Connor couldn't help but blush at the thought and he quickly felt his body heaten up and darken his pale freckled skin. The blush ran down to his hand, which he only now just realised was still lingering on the other man's hand. He quickly pulled it away and tried to play it off by using the hand to flash his name tag,
"Welcome Elder Price!" He beamed, feeling a strange feeling of triumph having been probably one of the first people to call him by name in this country as the locals were, to put it bluntly...Well actually that's exactly what you could all them, blunt.
He quickly remembered not to leave the other am out and took a quick glance at his name tag before quickly adding onto his last statement, a welcome for who he now knew as Elder Cunningham.
Still flashing his name tag, only now towards Elder Price in the hopes that he'd remember Connor's name, he added,
"I'm Elder McKinley, current district leader of the Uganda mission!"
"It's great to meet you!" Elder Price chirped back, making Connor smile uncontrollably at the sweetness of the man's smile. He quickly realised where his thoughts were going and pinched his arm, wincing at the pain, but one second of self punishment was nothing in comparison to eternity in the outer darkness. He repeated to himself the words which he had been told for years. Turn it off. Faggot.
The other elders then all briefly introduced themselves to Elder Price.
Sure, Connor was slightly disappointed in the sudden interruption of the conversation, but it was probably for the best anyways as Elder Price was causing him to have sinful thoughts.
Elder Price really did seem sweet and Connor didn't want to be the reason they both went to hell.
Gosh. Why the heck couldn't he be normal? He'd rather just be normal oh so normal.
So he thought it'd be best for him and Elder Price to keep it informal.
"That's a lot to remember!" Elder Price chuckled. Gosh his smile was adorable...no. Bad thoughts. He tried to remind himself of all the scriptures that condemned this.
Leviticus 18:23 - You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.
By now Connor's arm was red and starting to burn from all the pinching.
"Poptarts!!" Shouted Elder Cunningham cluelessly as Elder Poptarts nodded awkwardly in response.
"Well sit, sit!" Connor insisted while ushering the elders towards the couch that all the churches seem to have for some reason (it's a long story of how it got to Uganda).
Connor, as the district leader, felt the need to fill in the new recruits on whats been done so far.
"We've all been here for about three months now, spreading the word of Christ, and saving the souls of the fine Ugandan people through baptism!" Connor announced,
"Oh! Well how many have you baptised so far?" Elder Price queried.
"Zero...!" Connor cheered weakly.
Elder Cunningham's face was now serious, "That's practically nothing!" He whined.
By now, Elder had started to grimly walk away from the couch while mumbling, but Elder Cunningham quickly sprung up and joined him and starting to talk.
Now Connor didn't really hear the conversation, nor did the other elders, but they did manage to overhear a snippet about confusion. They all instantly smiled.
"Oh! Confused!" They all knowingly said in unison, Elder McKinley was now standing by Elder Price,
"Oh Elder that is natural!" Connor reassured,  "there are certainly a lot of things here in Uganda that can be...disturbing...but your mission has officially begun! Which means you have to do what we have all done."
By now Elder Price was even more confused but Connor kept going.
"I've gotta feelin, that you could be feelin, a whole lot better than you feel today! You say you've gotta problem, well that's no problem! It's super easy not to feel that way. When you start to get confused because of thoughts in your head...don't feel those feelings! Hold them in instead...Turn it off!"
