Work Text:

Lex hasn't slept. He looks at his watch as it ticks closer to four in the morning than he'd like. His eyes are red and sore from staring at his computer screen all day, but this paperwork isn't going to do itself. He sighs, standing up to stretch his back out and go for a glass of water.

The fireplace crackles in the background, he's got soft jazz playing over his speakers to cut through the ringing in his ears caused by the eerie silence throughout the mansion.

His ears pick up the sound of footsteps, it's so late- or early for that matter, none of his employees should be awake. He stalks slowly toward the door to his office, he didn't hear a car pull up - it couldn't possibly be his father. He peeks through the crack in the door and doesn't see anyone.

Still on edge, he moves back to his desk, perhaps the lack of sleep is getting to him. He rubs at his temples, trying to quell an impending headache.

"Lex?" A soft voice startles him, but when he looks up and sees Clark above him, brow furrowed with worry and plump lips curved downward, he relaxes.

"Clark? What are you doing here at this hour?" Lex stands from his desk, gesturing for the two of them to sit on the couch across from the fire.

"Sorry," Clark starts, wringing his hands together, sitting pin straight on the couch as if it were made of concrete, "I … you told me I could always come here if I needed…" He shrugs, not finishing his thought.

"I did," Lex hadn't thought when he told Clark that he would come over at an ungodly hour - if his parents found out he snuck out to come here… Jonathan would put him six feet under. "I'll admit this wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I made the offer." He laughs a little to ease the tension. Clark clearly has something weighing on him, he can't turn him away. It's a promise he made to him as his best friend.

It must be the heat from the fireplace, but Lex swears Clark's cheeks are tinged red. He blames it on his own bloodshot eyes.

"I'll try not to make a habit out of it." Clark jokes back, and the tension in the air dissipates immediately. Clark leans back into the couch, resting an arm along the back and turning his body toward Lex.

Getting Clark to open up to him can be like pulling teeth, so Lex was going to take as much as he could get. He tries not to look too eager as to not scare him off. He wants… he needs Clark to trust him.

"You can always come to me Clark… with anything." Lex puts a reassuring hand on Clark's shoulder. Clark's eyes flit over to the connection quickly, they stay there until Lex moves it.

"Thanks Lex. I didn't really know where else to go. I couldn't sleep and… I don't know, my legs just sort of took me here."

The sentiment makes Lex's heart clench, he's glad Clark seeks him for comfort in times of need. He stays silent, letting Clark's thoughts gather, giving him time to express whatever he needs to.

"Lex, things have been so… weird for me lately. I feel like I'll never truly know who I am or why I'm here." Clark is being intentionally vague, but Lex doesn't press the issue. He takes pity on the young boy, so confident yet still so unsure of himself. It's as if he holds the entire world on his shoulders. Lex wants to take some of that burden for Clark. If only he'd let him.

Lex would give Clark anything, everything, all he has to do is ask. He fears Clark already knows that.

"I definitely do not want to go back to my teenage years, I'm sure everyone around you feels the same way." Lex thinks to how alienated he felt growing up, being so different from everyone. Being an outcast. Feeling as though there was always something greater promised for you.

Maybe he's projecting. But maybe Clark feels the same way. In a twisted sort of sense, they are the same.

Clark puts his head in his hands, "I doubt that." He lets out a laugh that's more like a puff of air. Exasperated.

Lex moves an inch closer, Clark lifts his head and looks to Lex, begging for answers to questions he can't bring himself to ask.

"Clark, trust me when I say, I understand what it's like to feel different. To be different." He gestures to his head, emphasizing the whole 'I'm bald at twenty-one' notion. Clark's shoulders soften at this, his mouth quirking up into a small smile. The first one he's seen from him tonight.

He checks his watch, the sun will probably start rising soon. He needs this teenager to get home before his parents wake up and freak out.

"Clark, I'm always here for you. But right now, I think you need to head back home." Clark's eyes go wide, then soften with realization. He fears he might've overstayed his welcome.

"Oh Lex, I'm so sorry. I didn't even realize and it's so late. You should be asleep not stuck awake with me-"

Lex interrupts, "Clark, it's fine I wasn't going to bed any time soon." When Clark raises an eyebrow at this, Lex continues, "Work stuff, my father has been driving me crazy lately. More than usual." This earns another soft laugh from Clark. Lex breathes it in.

"Here, I'll give you my personal number and you can call me whenever you want, whenever you need me and I'll answer-" He jots his number down on a notepad he grabs from the glass table. He holds it just out of Clark's grasp and reiterates, "any time Clark, really."

Clark's hands overtake Lex's own, palming the piece of paper and shoving it in the breast pocket of his flannel. "Thank you Lex, it means a lot, especially coming from you."

Lex tries not to blush, he pats his hands on the couch, rising and waiting for Clark to follow.

Clark trails Lex, led by an imaginary leash out of the doors of his office. He follows close on Lex's heel, suddenly very tired. It seems all he needed to do was be near Lex and all of his problems dissolved. Lex is talking about some Greek myth or some really old book - Clark nods along, not listening, letting his body follow the sound of his voice outside.

"Want a ride home?" Lex asks, and Clark straightens. Right. He ran here. It's not like he could steal his dad's truck for a quick joy-ride to Lex Luthor's.

Clark nods, head feeling heavy with each movement. He climbs into Lex's Porsche, knees knocking the freshly detailed dashboard. Lex sees him let his head fall back onto the seat, eyes closing softly. Clark looks relaxed, and utterly beautiful.

Lex tries not to stare at the way Clark's eyelashes look under the moonlight that shines through the window. It's terribly hard to keep his eyes on the road when Clark spreads his thighs obscenely far in the small amount of space given. He feels a bead of sweat trickle down his face each time he watches that Adam's apple bob up and down.

He grips the steering wheel harder, he turns his AC vent toward his face in an attempt to cool down and rid himself of these thoughts. Clark came to him at a time in need, he shouldn't be lusting over him right now. He shouldn't really ever think about Clark like this.

He rolls into the dirt driveway as slow as possible, turning his headlights off before they reach the house. The sun is peeking over the edges of the horizon already, he doesn't dare take him all the way to the front door, Jonathan probably already awake and starting work.

He feels a little bad, watching Clark plod over to the door before and opening it as slowly as possible to reduce the amount of creaking. Lex keeps his eyes on him until the door closes just as slowly behind Clark.

He drives back home with the windows down, and he sure as hell doesn't sleep when he gets back.

The following night is the same, Clark tosses and turns in bed. He heads to the loft for a change of scenery, maybe looking at the stars will help him sleep. The air is chilly, he messes around with his telescope before resigning to the couch. He slumps down onto it, defeated. He pulls his phone out of his pocket, finger hovering over Lex's contact.

He didn't want to give in so easily, calling Lex the night after he gives him his number. He did get permission to call him anytime… but Lex was just saying that as a courtesy. He's a busy man with a company to run. He doesn't have time to deal with Clark.

But, he thinks about Lex, maybe he's awake in bed too. Unable to sleep, thoughts weighing too heavy on his mind to allow him any rest. Maybe he needs someone to talk to just as much as Clark does.

His heart jumps as he presses the call button, each ring resounding in his ear like a shrill alarm. His hands shake and he wills them to stop. He puts the phone on speaker, laying it on his bare chest, and shoves his hands into his pajama pockets.

"Clark?" Lex's voice comes through the phone, Clark's heart jumps again, in a different way, a way that Clark isn't sure how to describe.

"Lex, hi." He answers lamely, now that he had Lex here, he had no idea what to say.

"Can't sleep?" Lex answers for him, and Clark sighs, tension leaving his body easily. Lex tends to do that to him.

"No." Clark fiddles with a stray piece of lint in his pocket, "You either?" He's not sure why, but he just wants Lex to talk to him. About nothing and everything, fill his mind with something… anything to keep him distracted.

"No, but it's not unusual for me." Clark can hear the squeak of Lex's office chair, so he's not in bed.

Not that he was thinking about Lex in bed. That would be weird.

"What's on your mind?" Lex probes, his soft voice makes Clark want to spill it all. Tell him everything that's been worrying him. Who he is, what he's meant to do here on Earth, his destiny, all of it. Just to be able to talk to someone other than his parents and Pete about it.

He has a feeling that Lex would understand. Would be there for him. Would protect him.

"Can you just talk to me about your day? I need a distraction." He says instead.

"Sure," and he can hear Lex stretch out, maybe he's sprawling his legs under his desk, leaning his head back in the soft leather of his chair. Getting comfortable.

Clark does the same. He lays flat on the couch, feet just barely tipping over the edge, and takes his hands out of his pockets and puts them behind his head.

So Lex talks, about the mundane things like board meeting and phone calls with high-ranking business officials. He tells Clark what he had for lunch, which wasn't much, but Clark tries not to chastise him.

For a moment, the only sound coming through the line is Clark's soft breathing.

"You still with me? Or am I just that boring?" Lex jokes, and Clark opens his eyes, not realizing they had ever closed.

"No, -m here," His voice is thick with fatigue, "you're not boring… you're very soothing." Clark mumbles.

Lex's voice through the speaker rumbles on his chest, "Good, I was just getting to the part where I describe what I wore today."

Clark knows it's a joke, but something about the sentiment wakes him up completely. His skin prickles excitedly at the image of Lex, probably still in his work clothes from the day. Those skin tight dress pants and silky button-downs.

"Clark? Did I freak you out? I was joking." Lex laughs dryly.

"No, no… no. You… didn't," Clark isn't sure what to say, but he badly wants to hear Lex describe what he's wearing. Blood rushes to his ears just thinking about it. "Tell me." He gulps.

This could be either the worst or best decision he's ever made.

There's silence on Lex's end this time, so silent Clark thinks he's hung up. He looks down to his phone, still glowing blue with Lex's name in a big bold font. Just as Clark is about to say something, apologize for being so stupid, or just hang up and save himself the embarrassment - Lex answers.

"Alright." He coughs, more shuffling of fabric, more squeaking of leather. Clark is tuned in to every minute sound Lex is making. "I have on a satin dress shirt, it's blue."

"What kind of blue?" Clark ekes out, surprised at the raspiness of his own voice.

"A soft blue, the way the sun looks just before dusk." Lex replies easily, "Black slacks, nothing fancy."

Clark rolls his eyes at this, knowing the pants he has on are from a store he can't pronounce at a price point he'd never see in his lifetime.

Clark's hands run down his own thighs, the scratchy flannel fabric of his pajamas catching on his skin. Lex probably feels so smooth, silky to the touch. He imagines his hands are running down Lex's legs.

And now that's a thought isn't it? He feels hot all over, breath starting to come out in shallow puffs.

"Are they tight?" Clark gasps, the words coming out before he can stop himself. His hands run dangerously close to his cock, slowly fattening up from just imagining Lex.

Clark doesn't miss the sucked in breath from Lex. He won't let himself miss anything Lex has to give him.

"A bit, yeah." The words come out breathless, he can practically see the way Lex spreads his legs further apart. Maybe his own cock is straining against that expensive fabric, zipper begging for him to set it free.

"D'ya want to take them off?" Clark says, sliding his own pants down past his hips. He'd foregone boxers tonight, he praises his past self for this. His cock springs free, landing sloppily onto his abdomen. It could be his teenage hormones, but he's pretty sure he's never been this hard in his life.

"Clark, are you -" Clark hears him suck on his teeth, maybe hes biting hip lip, trying to stop himself from saying what he really feels. Clark doesn't want him to stop. He needs Lex to give in, relinquish just a little bit of control and take what he wants from Clark.

Clark would give it to him.

Clark isn't meant to hear it, but he does, lower than a whisper Lex remarks, "You're going to be the death of me."

There's a switch in Lex's tone. Now that he's gotten permission from Clark, all bets are off.

"Have you got your hand down your pants right now?" Lex's voice sends chills up Clark's spine, he feels giddy.

"No - I… I took them off." Clark has the gall to feel shy. The choked noise Lex makes makes his dick jump.

In a split second, Lex has gained his composure. "Eager, aren't we?" He's all suave and finesse. Clark focuses his hearing and, with enough effort, can drown out every noise except for Lex's erratic heartbeat.

Clark grasps his dick, hard, squeezing the base to stop himself from cumming just from hearing Lex's voice. From knowing he's just as worked up as he is.

"Please… Lex…" He isn't sure what he's begging Lex for. He just needs him to keep talking. His dick pulses in his hand like it has its own heartbeat.

"Use your words," He can hear the slide of Lex's pants zipper. Palming himself through his boxers. Clark bites back a groan.

"Please talk to me. I need it." I need you Clark wants to say. He wishes Lex was here with him right now, his soft hands all over his body. Taking what he wants from him, he could take it. He's practically invincible. What he would give to be at Lex's disposal.

Lex is slowly jacking himself off, Clark can tell, it's dry and probably a bit uncomfortable. Clark mimics his timing, and maybe… just maybe Lex uses a bead of precome to slick himself up just like Clark does.

"Get your hand off your cock." Lex's voice is stern, it shocks Clark to his core. He releases his hold on himself immediately. Lex must have a camera hidden in his loft, he sounds smug when he speaks again, "Good boy."

Clark whines, it's high and soft, something he didn't expect to come out of his mouth. His cock spurts pitifully against his stomach. He digs his nails into his palms, no mark is left, but any distraction is a welcome one.

"We're going to take this slow." Lex starts, and Clark nods before realizing he has to respond with words.

"Okay." He doesn't mean to sound so desperate, but he also never thought he would be having phone sex with Lex Luthor at almost three in the morning.

"Have you done anything like this before?" Lex asks genuinely, pushing past one more layer of consent. Clark wants to scream, frustrated with how respectful Lex is being.

"No," he starts to pout until he realizes he can push back, make Lex break, make him do and say all of the things he really wants to do with Clark, "I'd only ever do this with you." And he means it. He wants it to come off as strong, maybe even a little bratty - but his voice is hoarse and the words come out like a whimper across his lips.

Clark can hear Lex's heartbeat, it's faster now. The confession must've boosted Lex's ego to unknown levels. To be able to be the only one that Clark would do something this raunchy with. To be able to have this moment with him and Clark him. To be the only one that Clark thinks of.

Lex makes a strangled sound, "Ah," Lex coughs, head spinning from Clark's words, "don't worry, I'm going to make you feel good." Clark can tell he's doing that Lex Luthor thing of his, Where he does his best to put on the show of being the man Clark believes him to be. He's older, he has more experience than him in most aspects of life. Clark needs Lex to know he doesn't need him to be anyone else than who he already is. That's enough for him. It's all he needs.

Clark is breathing heavily, sweating despite the chill that blows through the loft. His cock aches, pulsing angrily with each beat of his heart. "Please." Is all he can muster, the fight in him seemingly gone. He just wants to feel good. To have Lex make him feel good.

Lex shushes him, Clark imagines those hands running down his face and cupping his cheeks soothingly. He thinks of Lex's lips on his, licking into each other's mouths languidly as Lex smooths down his torso and slowly finds his cock.

"Where do you like to be touched?" Lex asks, Clark can hear the snap of his shirt buttons coming undone and those smooth pants shuffling down past his ankles. Clark pictures him in that office chair, in silky boxers and a deep, wet stain that's leaked onto them. He knows Lex isn't touching himself yet. He's holding himself back. Clark needs more.

"I- I don't know… I usually just… you know." Clark wriggles against the couch, thinking these things and saying them out loud are two very different things.

"I don't Clark… can you describe it to me? What do you do when you're alone?"

Clark is quiet, mouth agape in a mix of embarrassment and building pleasure.

"Do you tweak your nipples?" Lex does it to himself, the flick of skin on skin screeches in Clark's ear. Lex gasps over the speaker of the phone dramatically. Clark has to stop his eyes from rolling into the back of his head.

"I… no." Clark tries it then, the buds already peaked and hard from arousal, the sensation is strange but not at all unwelcome. He tries it again with the other one, squeezing harder this time. "Oh." He moans unabashed.

Clark never thought about touching himself in any other way than fisting his cock as quietly as he can and coming into his own hand as he bites his sheets and deal with the sticky aftermath in the morning. He didn't really think there was anything more to it.

"If I was there with you, it would feel so much better. I would do things to you you'd never dream of doing to yourself." Lex is losing his inhibitions, Clark can tell. He's so close. He needs Lex to crack. To realize he isn't some fragile teenager, that he is Lex's to break, to mold, to have.

"I know." Clark mumbles, he's been toying with his own nipples while Lex spoke, the action mixed with those words making his skin buzz to life. He kept his eyes closed and imagined Lex on top of him, doing these things to him.

"Now, slide those big hands down your stomach, slowly." Lex prompts, Clark does so. If he tries hard enough, he can believe that the hands across his chest are Lex's. Firm, confident, soft hands caressing him in the places he knows feel good, knowing exactly what makes Clark tick.

The heat of Clark's own hands ghost past his cock, fingers swiping through a puddle of precome. He can't find it in himself to be disgusted. Lex is doing this to him, making him feel this way. His head is fuzzy with lust. Even though he's pretty sure Lex can't actually see him, he avoids his aching hard-on. He stops right below his waistline.

"Keep moving." Lex's voice rings through, Clark's cock jumps at the sound of it.

He might actually have cameras somewhere. Or Lex is omnipotent.

Clark's hands slide further down, his legs spread wider instinctively, he isn't sure what to do when he reaches the crease of his thigh. He desperately awaits new instructions, hell-bent on being perfect just for Lex.

"God, I wish I could see you right now, spread out on that small couch, cock aching and ready for me. I'd open you up so slowly, take my time with you, show you why you should be mine and only mine." Clark can hear the wet squelch of Lex squeezing himself, keeping himself from tipping over the edge.

"Lex, I wanna be good for you." Clark's voice comes out small, worn out. In the back of his mind, Clark wants to beg Lex to come over, have his way with him. He doesn't care what his dad would do if he found Lex in the loft, on top of Clark, bringing Clark to orgasm. Clark thinks about what Lex looks like when he comes. What he might taste like. A deep desire in the pit of his stomach.

"I know you do. You're doing so well. Want to keep going?" Lex's breath comes out in ragged, short puffs.

"Yes. Yes please. I need to… I want to…" Clark doesn't know what he's asking for, what he needs, he just needs Lex to keep talking to him.

"I'm not going to torture you much longer," and Clark knows Lex is telling the truth, if is heartbeat is anything to go off of, "you can touch yourself."

The moan Clark lets out could probably be heard throughout Smallville, "Lex, oh my god."

"C'mon, make yourself come for me Clark." Clark listens to Lex fuck into his own hand in earnest.

Clark can hear the slick slide of Lex's hand jacking himself off, the quiet moans he tries to hold back in favor of hearing Clark. He can hear it all. His erratic heartbeat, the blood pumping through his veins, every shift in his seat.

It's all the permission he needs, he grasps himself hard. Eyes squeezed shut, he tunes in to Lex as much as he can. Imagining him in this room, working hard to get Clark to come undone with just his hands.

"Lex, Lex I wish you were here with me. I need you here with me." He's babbling, nonsensical sentences falling from his mouth and he thrusts into his fist.

"I know, I know, I'm here." Lex soothes, but his words are shaky, likely close to his own completion.

"Lex, talk to me." Clark begs, he needs it. He fears he's always going to need Lex from now on.

"Keep going Clark, just like that." Lex pants into the phone, trying to stave off his own orgasm, he needs Clark to finish first.

Clark whines desperately, pumping himself faster, his hands soaking wet with precome. One hand comes up to tug at his own nipple and he has to bite his lip to stop himself from crying out.

Lex continues, "I'm right there with you, Clark, it feels so good. I want you to come, I want to come with you. I can hear how wet you are, it's obscene. I did that to you. Can you hear how wet I am for you?"

Clark nods, he knows Lex can't see (maybe), but Lex keeps talking, pushing Clark further and further.

"One day I'll have my hands all over you, I'll make you feel so good Clark. I, I need you Clark. I need you to come."

With that, Clark's eyes burst open, body tensing up as an orgasm wracks through him. He grunts, pumping himself through it as Lex continues to talk. He's still coming down from it when he hears the unmistakable noise of Lex coming. It's soft, but guttural, and Clark commits that sound to memory.

He lays there, basking in the afterglow, the sun is peeking above the horizon, the sky turning from an inky black to a soft purple. His brain is sufficiently empty, filled only with thoughts of Lex.

Lex.

He looks to his phone to make sure he's still there, and he is.

"Lex." It's all that comes to mind, he's lucky his brain didn't turn to mush throughout this ordeal.

"Clark." Lex sounds tired, voice gruff. Clark's cock stirs painfully at how hot he sounds.

"Um, thank you." Clark yawns, stretching his arms up above his head.

"Anytime Clark," and, after a beat, "and I mean that." He can hear the smirk in Lex's voice.

"I'll take that as a challenge." Clark smiles to himself. He could get used to the idea of Lex. Of Lex being his… of him being Lex's.

He thinks back to the things Lex said to him. Wonders if he really meant them, or if they were just sweet nothings. A means to an end.

"Lex, the things you said-" Clark starts, but Lex interrupts him.

"Let's not talk about that right now. But… yes. Maybe we can discuss it in person." He can hear the shuffle of Lex shoving his soft cock back into his slacks and Clark ignores the flutter in Lex's heartbeat. For now.

Clark beams at this, heart beating in his chest wildly. "Okay Lex. Goodnight." His eyes are heavy. Feeling, for the first time in a while, relaxed.

"Goodnight, Clark." Lex doesn't have it in him to hang up, and with the soft snores that come from the other end, he doesn't think Clark is going to either.

So, selfishly, Lex lets the phone call continue. It stays connected while Lex brushes his teeth, changes into a set of pajamas, and as he lays his head down in an empty bed. He can almost imagine Clark is there, breathing evenly next to him. He's sure to dream of it.

Maybe, just maybe, Clark will dream of him too.
