Hi.
If you’re reading this and are confused as to why all of these unrelated media - video games, manga, webshows, among others - are being listed as part of the same fanfiction, then hopefully this chapter would act as a general explanation.
This fanfiction is a series of fighting game-inspired movesets for various characters across all the different media that I have consumed or am currently consuming.
The main style of moveset this work is attempting to emulate is the style shown in platform fighters, chief among them being Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series and the upcoming Animation VS. game by Alan Becker. While not 1-to-1 with any of the games mentioned, they do form the basis for the mechanics I am attempting to emulate with my work.
Besides movesets, one can also expect supplementary material such as stages, an arcade mode, the different effects and dialogue that certain moves elicit out of the entire playable roster, non-official movesets, bosses, and even some lore-related works if I feel like it.
Do note however that updates may be slow. I’m sort of preoccupied with real life troubles and researching these characters alone, and as a result, progress is rather glacial. Additionally, expect changes to movesets to occur whenever I obtain ideas I view as more fitting.
Inspirations for this work:
Super Smash Bros. Lawl.
- An online web series by chincherrinas found on YouTube, which features animations of mock-up movesets for various unorthodox and atypical characters in the style of Super Smash Bros.
- Included in my inspirations are the various fanmade spin-offs of the original series, such as Super Smash Bros. Lawl Aureus by Shrekles and Super Smash Bros. Lawl Beatdown by ShadBad.
Death Battle Arena
- A DeviantArt fanfiction by Dimension-Dino which features mock-up movesets of almost every character featured on the webseries Death Battle, as if they had been fighters in a made-up fighting game.
Death Battle Tag Battle
- An Archive of Our Own fanfiction by Citizen_Nappa, inspired by Death Battle Arena and some of Dimension-Dino’s older works. This fanfiction also features mock-up movesets of Death Battle combatants, but done so in pairs akin to BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle and Street Fighter x Tekken.
Super Smash Bros: Team Fortress 2 Movesets
- A Fanfiction.net fanfiction by B20T76, which features Super Smash Bros.-related media for the 9 main classes of Team Fortress 2, even including a stage, and interactions with various different character-specific secrets. The formatting of my work is outright based on B20T76's formatting.
