Chapter Text
Look, Rumi knows social media is part of what keeps their fans happy. Even with the newly created Honmoon, they still needed to keep their fans happy, and well, she liked her fans regardless of the need to defend against a demon apocalypse.
Zoey and Mira were more active on their socials. Mira, as the group's main visual, had the most videos. There was a variety of content for the fans to obsess over, including dance choreography, makeup live streams, and fashion photos. Mira was more likely to accept brand deals as well, although she always gave her honest opinion on the product.
Zoey has always been more parasocial, which had been advised against, to put it lightly, but she was always too much of a social butterfly to resist meeting fans. She would go out to the few skate parks in Seoul and skate with young fans, usually only pulling down her medical mask after she had been there for a while. She was also known for her unhinged humor while playing stressful games, as well as silly decisions in more peaceful games. Zoey even has her own moderators to help her with fan interactions when live.
Rumi forgot to use her social media when not with her girls. They're combined streams, usually on their Huntr/x account, tend to bring in more fans and entertain the current ones. They're most popular stream to date was a combined cooking stream where none of the girls were allowed to talk to each other, and only Mira knew the recipe. Zoey still has a burn scar on her thigh from when Rumi dropped a hot pan on her.
The fans noticed, because of course, they did.
@RunedMagpie: So, starving for Rumi content lately. Don't get me wrong, I love Zoey and Mira, but I miss Muscle Mommy Rumi.
→@GodlyKoi: So real. Sometimes I wonder if she doesn't like the attention. Which I can get, but she's literally an idol?
—>@HornyForHorns: I miss her broad shoulders. I want to lick them.
—> @Huntr2678: I mean… she doesn't owe us her personal life. Maybe she's just an introvert?
—->@Huntrx_Rumi: I hate to break it to you, but I'm just boring.
—>@RumiFan67: WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
So then began Rumi's first solo live stream. Zoey told her to act natural; fans like to see them be human (or half-demon, but the fans don't know that). Mira advised Rumi to narrate her actions if she was doing something most folks wouldn't know about.
Rumi chose to set up her phone on a tripod on her balcony and tend to her numerous plants. When she assured that the livestream was up and running, she introduced herself.
"Hello all! If you don't know me, I'm Rumi from the idol group Huntr/x. I have a feeling most, if not all, of you know me because… why would you be here otherwise?" She chuckles awkwardly. She puts her gardening gloves on and glances at the chat… which was going too fast for her to actually catch what was being said.
"Well! Uh, can't read chat, but I'll explain what I'm doing. I have an extensive plant collection that I like to tend to when I can!" Rumi explains this as she checks that her mister and clippers are in working order. "When we're on tour, I have to hire a gardener to come check in on them… like a plant babysitter."
That was the last time she addressed her audience at all, as soon after she noticed a small yellow spot on one of the leaves of pothos, she was so consumed by fixing the problem that she forgot about her audience altogether. The fans watched as she tended to each plant, scrutinizing each leaf, stem, and petal to ensure her plants were in the best health possible. Sometime fater she inspected her favorite pothos, she forgot all about her audience. She spent the next hour checking the health of all her plants, writing down notes in a gardening book, and methodically pruning the ones that needed it.
Then Rumi left. Satisfied with her work and the health of her plant, she decided to treat herself to a cold drink and a snack inside. She didn't take her phone; she was hardly on her phone most of the time unless it was work-related. So, why would she look for it right now?
Her stream actually got a larger audience as word spread that Ryu Rumi, lead of Huntr/x, accidentally left her stream going. Her audience was treated to a soothing atmosphere of slightly swaying plants; it was actually quite peaceful.
@UltimateFenris: Didn't think I'd be able to say that a K-pop idol's stream is perfect for studying. Really in my zen rn.
→@Huntr/XFan: This could be her niche, straight up abandoning her fans and making them study.
It took three calls to Mira's phone for Bobby to finally get a hold of Rumi. Mira herself had been busy trying a new recipe for persimmon cookies and didn't see her phone practically vibrating off the counter until she had taken the cookie sheet out of the oven.
It was purely by chance that it had been recorded; a few fans had screen-recorded the stream to show that Rumi had left her phone behind or to capture the serenity of the scene. The video shared across the internet was of Rumi running out onto the balcony with a cookie hanging out of her mouth. She somehow looks for her phone in every other place than the stand it was placed on, including under a ceramic pot, because of her panicked state.
When she finally found her phone, she nearly choked on the cookie while trying to talk. "'M sorry, fowks, I wa' distrac'ed." Then the stream ends abruptly.
@RunedMagpie: Well, I got my Rumi content, and it was more than what I could have dreamed of.
→@MiraFan69: How? She literally left?
—>@Runed Magpie: yeah, but then she came back, not looking like an idol, but like a flustered human being. It's nice to see she's just like us.
It was humanizing and kept fans engaged, but according to Bobby, Rumi needs to find something else next time.
Well… Zoey and Mira do some physical activities on their socials, maybe Rumi should too?
