After six months of constant harassment by the 118, Buck's mental health is on the rock bottom. One remark from Eddie sends him careening off the edge. The 118 is left with the consequences.

This is extremely self indulgent, and majorly ooc. So be warned about that.

Chapter Text

It has been a long six months, six months of absolute hell. Buck felt absolutely frazzled, it felt like everything he has is hanging by a thread.

Constant hazing and abuse by the firefighters of the 118 has fostered a fear in his heart. He oddly felt more at ease in his lonely apartment than at the station.

Spilled coffee, kicked bucket, and veiled threat is considered a good shift for him. It's certainly better than the targeted humiliation he's been experiencing.

None of his former family ever helped him, Hen distanced herself from him, only speaking if there's a need to. Chim participates in the borderline cruel joke. Jokes that hit his insecurities every single time.

Bobby constantly humiliates him in front of the others, to the point that he actively avoids Bobby. Not that it worked cause it seems Bobby seems to seek him out specifically.

Eddie though…

Eddie seems determined to make him miserable. He participated in every single joke and humiliation that Buck endured, sometimes he's the one who instigates it.

Buck is tired, he's so very tired.

Right now he's washing the dishes after the other firefighters have lunch (without him of course). He kept his focus on his chores, trying his hardest to ignore the conversation that happened behind him. But he tunes in when his name gets mentioned.

“.... Honestly why is he still here, nobody wants him here.” he hears Eddie's voice, it speaks to how he's been treated that it barely registers as an insult.

“Maybe he should have died under the truck, it certainly would make things easier for all of us.” Eddie's voice echoes on the loft along with all the other firefighters' laughter.

Eddie wants him dead?

Buck suddenly couldn't hear anymore, his ears ringing. His vision darkens as he grips the thing he's washing tighter.

He can't breathe, there's no air around him.

Eddie? The one that's supposed to be his person wants him dead?

There's a loud snap, but nobody seems to hear it. Buck's body goes rigid, his grip on the thing he's washing gets tighter until his knuckle turns white. His face turns blank.

Buck stares at the knife he's holding tightly.

……

Eddie let the laughter roll off him, nobody noticed that his laughter sounds fake. He knows what he just said is cruel beyond belief, but he kept letting his anger rule his action.

He really needs to rein it in and apologize to Buck. Fuck he knows he's an absolute asshole. But he just crossed a line.

He didn't want Buck dead, no never. He wouldn't know what to do if Buck's gone.

Feeling a bit ill, he turns around to see a blur moving fast toward him.

The next thing he knew was a horrendous pain blooming on his left shoulder and a knife sticking out of it. To his surprise the hand that is holding the knife belongs to Buck.

Buck, who's currently sporting such a bloodthirsty grin that it stuns Eddie.

“Bu-...Buck?” Eddie stammer. He yells as Buck pulls the knife out, splattering blood all over the floor before he yells as he moves to stab Eddie again.

He barely managed to hold back the knife heading to his face. He grunts as he tries to stop Buck's attack.

“BU-BUCK! what are you doing!” Eddie heaves as he tries to hold back an enraged Buck.

Buck didn't respond other than to increase the power he used to push the knife. Eddie nearly collapsed from the sheer strength that Buck used.

“Help me!” Eddie yells to the other firefighters. His left side nearly gives out before somebody tackles Buck off him.

Eddie drops to his knees, heaving and gulping lots of air. His uniform stained with blood, his left shoulder burns with pain. His trembling hands covered with his blood, he looks over to Buck, who's on the floor as another firefighter is on top of him preventing him from moving.

Buck’s gaze never left Eddie, he's heaving as his hands repeatedly clenches around the nonexistent knife, having been thrown to the other side of the loft. The unhinged, bloodthirsty look never left his face.

“Buck…” Eddie murmurs. Still in shock after everything.

Buck began screaming incoherently, his blood splattered face making him look menacing. The other firefighters struggle to hold him down. There's a lot of yelling and screaming as more firefighters come up to the loft.

A hand on his injured shoulder snaps him out of the state he's fallen into.

“It's okay Eddie, let me check it out.” Hen whispers beside him, already unbuttoning his uniform to assess the stab wound.

Because it is a stab wound, inflicted by Buck.

Buck just tried to kill him.

Eddie whimpers as he lets his gaze turn toward Buck, who's still struggling on the floor. The man gazes still on Eddie even after all that struggling.

“I'LL KILL YOU DIAZ!! YOU HEAR ME!!” Buck screams. It is at this moment that Bobby climbs up to the loft.

“I'LL CUT OFF YOUR THROAT!” Eddie's eyes start watering hearing Buck's shouting threats at him. Bobby seems frozen on the spot, his whole frame trembling.

“IF YOU WANT ME DEAD, I'LL TAKE YOU DOWN WITH ME!” Buck screams turn incoherent once more.

Eddie let the tears fall from his eyes.

He broke Buck.

Eddie sobs as he tries to reach out to Buck. But Hen held him back.

“No Eddie, it's too dangerous.” Hen declared. But Eddie didn't care, he needed to go to Buck. He needs to apologize. He needs to fix this.

“Buck!” Eddie screams as somebody knocks Buck out.

He let himself cry through Hen bandaging his shoulder. He cries when Buck is taken into custody. He cries when Bobby seems to collapse on the couch.

He cries because he's the one who broke Buck.
