Work Text:

Vincent and Alastor were at one of Hell's bars together. For both of them, it was two completely different atmospheres. Vincent was a nervous wreck currently, from the proximity with the other man and drinking.

He hadn't had enough to be completely intoxicated, but it still played an effect on him. Really, it put him on his mental edge with anxiety. He slowly sipped on his drink again, it burned in his throat and went down with pure bitterness. The whiskey was stronger, way stronger in Hell than on Earth. The taste was stronger, more pungent, hotter. Burned like hell.

On the other chair next to him sat Alastor, which felt the opposite. He had lots of drinks, too many drinks. It pushed him way off the edge of just being tipsy. He was changing, acting smoother, more relaxed, different, but scary. Atleast, that's what Vincent knew to his knowledge.

"Heh, and then, I just stabbed that man! Oh you should have been there to see his face, Vincent. Oh the blood, so amusing.."

Alastor told, talking about his life when he was alive in such a playful matter. He had rarely spoken about his time on Earth before. Maybe only mentioning small parts of it during conversations.

"Yea, I bet it was so thrilling.." Vincent leaned against the table, knowing more about Alastor was rare, even though he had known him for years by now. It was a nice surprise, but it did make him more incredibly anxious, the feeling being worse from being slightly drunk. He didn't want something to slip out, something that would make the other man take it all back.

But for now it was ok, with him just listening and nodding.

...

Only Satan knows how long later, Vincent had stopped drinking a long time ago. The fact that it had settled inside him made the feeling worse, he just sat there not trying to throw up. There were many drinks on the table, but they all weren't his. It was all Alastor's, and it was whiskey, specifically rye. Probably his favorite. It made Vincent think he may have been an alcoholic while living, just from the pure amount he's able to consume.

The drinks made him such a mess, it was almost adorable really. Alastor's back was arched, he torso practicality laying on the table. He was smiling, which is something he literally does all the time. But it seemed real. It wasn't a manipulative grin that he had on or a intimidating one to threat other sinners. No, it was real, alive, cute even. He was probably only acting like this from drinking, but it still warmed Vincents mechanical-like heart enough to stare and admire.

"Say vincent, have you ever danced before?" Alastor suddenly asked, disrupting Vincent's daydreams about him.

"Danced?" Vincent responded, thinking about his question. It had brought back some memories. "I haven't danced since I was in theater.. in highschool. Why do you ask, Alastor?"

His unbreakable grin grew bigger. "Oh it's just this music tonight, the people gathering to dance here. It reminds me when I was young once I danced aswell, at clubs not different from this place." He stuck his hand out behind them, pointing to where couples and folk were mingling to music. Vincent had been so out of it from the alcohol and was so focused on Alastor he hadn't even cared to look at his surroundings. In fact, there was music and sinners off all kind here tonight.

"Oh wow, you're right. Its pretty lively tonight, Al." He puts his hand on the corner of his tv head. "Shit, I didn't even notice, to be honest." He says, rubbing his 'face' awkwardly.

"It's ok, old friend." Alastor consoles him. "Since it is so nice tonight, and we both know how to dance, I think it would be a perfect opportunity for us to engage." He proposed.

Vincent's eyes widened. "You want.. to dance? ..with me..?" He almost mumbled the last part. This was a question he was actually terrified to ask. He hoped that what he just heard was right from Alastor. He didn't want to be embarrassed from hearing wrong from Alastor or looking stupid to his one and only admirer.

"Yes, of course, dear! Why wouldn't I want to dance with my friend, hm?" Dear. Friend. His voice was unchanging so joyful, casual. As if these names weren't affecting Vincent mentally like crazy.

"What do you say, dear?" He stood up from his bar stool, holding his clawed hand out infront of him. The tips of his fingers and red claws were shakey, his arm wobbling slightly. It reminded Vincent that he was only asking this, acting so sweet, giving him this attention he was a little too desperate for only because he was drunk.

Although he knew this, he took his hand anyways, how could he say no? He was going to savor any attention that Alastor gave him, do whatever to make him happy.

He stood up from his chair as he grabbed his hand, his body not as much but still unsteady like Alastors. "Ok..! Lets dance."

"Excellent." Alastor respondes, his toothed smile closing. He still holds Vincent's hand as he takes him to another part of the bar. They could hear the music better now and listened to it. It sounded like a love song from the 1930s. Vincent vaguely remembers hearing music like this before, when he was a child. His parents would play it at home, when they still loved each other.. No, stop thinking about that, only Alastor matters right now.

He held out his other empty hand for Alastor to take, he hoped that wasn't a mistake that would make him look like s fool. And it wasn't because he took it immediately.

"You seem to be nervous, Vincent. I thought you knew how to dance." Alastor remarks as he takes the lead, moving there hand together in a way similar to the rhythm of the song.

"Hey, I am! It's just been a while.." Vincent defends himself. He takes a little more lead in response by moving his feet foward so the other has to as well. "I danced in plays and musicals. They weren't exactly like this slow dancing."

"Oh, of course. You're always so ambitious." He comments. "What do you want me to do then? This?" He suddenly spun Vincent around.

"Woah!" Vincent almost fell down in drunken dizziness but Alastor caught him mid-fall. One leg was up with the other one on the floor stable. His hands were caught by Alastor's. He almost fallen again from Alastor's weak grip but he pulled himself back up clumsily.

He was suddenly really close to him, pulling towards him maybe too much. Both of their hands intertwined and their chests softly pressed together. Vincent blushed hard at the proximity, but he didn't push away because Alastor didn't either.

"Lets.. not do that again." Vincent says, almost timidly. They were both clearly too drunk to do dancing like that anyways.

"Ok, Dear. Just follow my moves. I promise I won't make you fall, this time." Alastor says promisingly. Vincent just nods and tries to follow his lead, moving his hands with Alastor's, his feet stepping in rhythm close to his.

Alastor closes his eyes and slow danced. He knew exactly what he was doing, unlike Vincent. Hell, he even started to hum along with the song. With how comfortable Alastor was just made the moment more intimate.

Vincent wasn't used to this type of interaction. Even in his human life, he only had flings with women that were supposed to be his colleagues and partners, nothing special or lasting and definitely not like this. And he basically threw away his chance at having a real relationship when he grew his empire to the fullest, he would always treat everyone lower than him or just murder anyone that got in his way when he became a leader. Yeah, so it was disencoraged to mess around with him and women stayed away.

So right now he was basically dealing with alien feelings, and it didn't help that it was for a man. But, it did not seem like Alastor thought it was weird or queer so Vincent just pushed this feeling aside. As long as he kept Alastor happy and and listened to him it would be ok.

"Why the long face, pal?" Alastor asked at the end of the song. He let go of Vincent's hand to touch his screen, pulling the edge of his flat mouth up to encourage a smile. "You're never fully dressed without a smile, my dear."

Vincent blushed again, the surface of his screen heating up and turning a deep blue. He gripped Alastor's wrist and smiled with his teeth, showing a toothy grin with his sharp teeth and big mouth.

"Better?" He asked, trying to keep a smile despite his nervousness. "Much." Alastor simply responded, seeming satisfied from his attempt.

Vincent kept smiling and kept dancing the night away with Alastor. They kept getting close, their bodies occasionally pressing against each other, their hands always holding each other, Vincent showing off some dances he learned from plays, even if it made him look dorky. He didn't want the it to end, but then..

"Alright folks, this is the last song of the night!" A loud speaker had suddenly announced. Vincent frowned once he heard. He liked this closeness with Alastor and wasn't ready to give it up too soon.

"Don't be sad, dear. Just enjoy the time we have right now." Alastor said to cheer him up before the last song began to play. The lights dimmed the darkest they would that night and the sound turned up.

The song that was playing was, 'I Fall In Love Too Easily' by Chet Baker. It was soft, simple, with a piano tune.

Alastor continued to take lead, walking them around the floor slowly hand in hand. Vincent kept following him, understanding the moves better and getting used to how Alastor danced. So he really just spent his time looking and feeling the other because he didn't have to focus on his moves as much.

Alastor's hands were soft and hairy, like an animals fur. His eyes were glowing a bold red, he could see them so much better in the dark. Vincent could get lost looking at them. He had that smile on him like always, but it was softer and genuine. His adorable white freckles on his cheeks curled with his smile, they were like a fawn's spots. The sight was so nice for him, and Vincent could feel himself form a smile again naturally, the antennas on the top of his head beginning to spark and electrify together.

Vincent is now hyper-aware and is feeling and savoring his surroundings. He listened to the song now, it related to his situation.

'My heart should be well schooled, cause I've been fooled in the past'

True, he had failed relationships before.

'Still I fall in love too easily'

Love. It was almost like Vincent was feeling it right now. He wondered if Alastor felt the same currently. After all, he was still humming along with the song, maybe this was his love language.

'I fall in love too fast'

The two slowed down more. Those same lyrics were repeated and sung again before the song slowly closed out. Just like that it was over, the lights slowly turned up again, getting brighter but not too much. Vincent stayed in that spot, holding Alastor just a bit longer before Alastor let go and stepped away.

"That was nice.." It was the only thing he could say after all of that, he was still flusterd after all. Alastor softly nodded.

"I suppose, for your first time." He responded before walking away, he follwed. He walked back to the bar to pay, even though he could have easily gone out without anyone confronting him. Obviously it was because the Radio Demon was such a gentleman, that's probably how he lured souls in.

"Come now, Vincent. Our time is up here." Vincent nodded in response, slowly walking out with Alastor. He opened the door for him, one last thing to please him.

As both of them stepped outside, the hellish heat of the outdoors engulfed them once again. The sky was red, but darker, so it was late into the night by now. Vincent sighed softly, looking at Alastor as they stood infront of the bar. He felt sad again because Alastor's home was in Cannibal Town, on the right, while his apartment was the opposite direction.

"Guess this is it.." He says dissapointedly, having been dreading to say that since they started dancing. His hand slowly goes towards Alastor's, and surprisingly, he takes it. He thought he may have had enough touching for tonight.

And then, Vincent had started to leaned in. Something about doing it felt right, all the touching that night, the dancing, the sharing.. maybe the drinks were making him do this bold move, effecting his decisions. His face was so close to the Alastor's, he began to close his eyes as he closed in the gap, before..

Alastor puts a finger at his lips, stopping him from going any further and pushed his face away firmly. Vincent's eyes widen, he blushes harshly, feeling ashamed for that honestly stupid move. Satan, he ruined it all, but then..

Alastor kisses the top of Vincent's hand.

"Goodnight, Dear."

He says flatly, the same tone as always with no emotion that anyone could read before his body flashed away, becoming a shadow that Vincent couldn't see.

And again, He alone, with his hand where the other's lips should have been, or were. He stands unmoving before slowly putting it down to his torso.

Then, he sluggishly walks away to the direction of his home, turning that way. But he stops soon after he gets to the side of the building. He leans himself against the brick wall of the building for support, his body slumping down.

The kiss.. How when he tried to and got regected, but then Alastor did it and took control instead. It wasn't what he wanted or expected, but it felt more.. He felt fuzzy inside, but not from the alcohol, no this was all because of that deer.

"Fuck."

Vincent mumbles to himself before getting up and heading off to his apartment. He would go home and dream of Alastor that night.
