Chapter Text
It is night in Kris' room. The blinds are mostly closed, allowing only a little moon light to come through. Kris is laying on their bed, face down.
Kris turns their head sideways, and speaks aloud. "What are you?"
There is silence for a moment, before Kris hears a voice respond. (I would think you would already know that.)
"I would like to hear it from you."
The voice chuckles. (Alright, since you've been such a lovely vessel, I'll humor you. To you and to this world I am... an observer. Someone who listens to the forest so trees can fall and make a sound; to give light to the darkness.)
"...What would happen if you stopped watching?"
(Well from your perspective, nothing. If I were to leave, you would no longer be able to perceive the world being covered in nothingness.)
Kris is still.
(Of course, you needn't worry about that happening. You and this world are far too interesting for me to simply forget about you. And besides, I'm sure that someone else would be willing to look after you even if I do forget.)
"But, what about the prophecy?"
(What about it?)
Kris rolls to face upward.
(Oh, "the angel, banished, will finally meet its desire." I must admit, I am unsure what exactly that means myself.)
"Did... did the prophecy not come from you?"
(No, it came from space and time. I have merely seen it. Or, I will. But anyway, what I know is that there will inevitably come a time here when I have seen all that I can, or that I want. And when that happens, I will move on.)
"...What then?"
(Then... maybe I'll revisit your world every now and then. Or maybe I'll try to look at your world again even after it's been covered in darkness. It's just, it takes a lot to do that. But I'm sure someone will. And I'm sure someone will even make a new connection I can use, though probably not as strong as the one I have now.)
Kris turns sideways again. "So even if we stop the Roaring, the world will be covered in darkness in the end anyway?"
(Kris, darkness is not just bad, it is many things. One of those things is possibility. When we see our happy ending, it will leave many happy possibilities.)
"...And what if my world's ending isn't happy?"
(...Then, I can dream of one for you. Like I am dreaming now.)
