Bringing Life to a Barren World

Summary:

Sent to an almost barren world, Desmond was granted a single quest: Bring life back to it.

He thought he'd just be a farmer... But Pokemon needed to be reintroduced into this world too.

Or; What if my Pokemon Breeder actually had something that looked like a plot instead of pure porn? Also, it was slow?

Chapter 1: Barren - 1.1

Chapter Text

[You've received your Starters!]

[1 Grass] + [1 Water] + [1 Fire]

[Accept!]

Staring at the screen that floated before him, Desmond had to consider his needs for a moment. He turned to look at the rather barren and dry wasteland before him, sandy ground pouring over broken dirty and large swaths of rocks and what looked like glass pillars rhat surrounded his starting location were the size of a human sticking out of the ground at the very least.

'I can't imagine the sheer force of the impact necessary for such things to form.' His thick boots stepped over sharp shards of glass and rocks as he started climbing out of an inclined hill that he knew must've been the impact crater of the meteor that had hit this place. It took him a while, but once he had managed to climb out, he turned to see that the hole he had been in was large enough for a fucking lake the size of a small ocean to fit inside easily. "So sad..."

Ah, right.

His name is Desmond Thomas Jagërson, he is- was? Will be? Time is weird when you die, wake up to meet a godly alpaca that gives you a flying phone and send you off in a perilous journey with your 22 year old body when you definetly died at age 34... And his ass wasn't this fat. Anyways, beyond the added in extra bits of flesh, the pounds of muscle and the extra stamina that allowed him to work tirelessly, the access to Aura, the ability to speak and understand all Pokemon, and his Arcphone, he also had a bunch of insights as to what had happened in this place.

First of all, he was sent to this world to help repopulate it, to make it regrow.

He was given basic knowledge over planting and gardening, farming, making natural remedies and even making natural pokeballs out of apricots, as well as how to make simple tools, and a few other miscellaneous amounts of knowledge. If he wanted more, he would need to access his Arcphone. Such knowledge involved the end of this world and the extinction of thousands upon hundreds of thousands of Pokemon! This world had no humans before he set a foot in it, and now he was tasked to bringing life back into the soil...

So, anyways, a weird giant glowing purple-black meteor destroyed the world.

That's all he knows.

Big impact, boom, everyone and everything gone. Thousands upon hundreds of years of dust clouds covering the sun, making the world go into a snowball effect, volcanoes errupted due to the impact, seas boiled, the carbon silicate cycle was disrupted akin to the Great Dying back on his own world but in this world nothing survived as far as his knowledge went.

"I should probably accept my new friends, huh?" With a sigh of resignation as he accepted the future thrusted upon him without a warning by a god alpaca. The white and gold phone floated before him and he touched the [Accept!] button before three red and white, classical pokeballs appeared before him. There was a shudder from the three balls before-

"Key!" (FREEDOM!)

"Li~." (Hm... eepy.)

"Dile!?" (Heh!?)

-three adorable little things appeared before him. A small, green monkey holding a small stick like his life depended on it, a small black and red cat that was looking up at him lazily and with hints of sleep in his eyes, and a blue repitle that had absolute zero thoughts behind his eyes.

A Grookey, a Litten, and a Totodile.

He immediately knelt before them, his eyes wide with a smile as he opened his arms and greeted them: "Hello little ones.' He tried to sound as kind and loving as he possibly could, lowering his tone of voice a little bit as he thought about how he could explain this: "You three are now mine."

"Li? Litten? Li~." (Hm? Yours? Sure, I don't mind.) The lazy black and red cat climbed over his shoulder by jumping at him, easily resting on Desmond's shoulders. And soon the little kitten started purring like a jet engine from how loud he actually was right by his ear.

"Dile? To to to to! Dile! Totodile!" (Yours? You're my new dad! Dad! I love you!) The excitement in the little blue crocodile's voice was so enthusiastic that Desmond found himself smiling at the little one and picking him up as the goofy grin expanded upon its tiny maw, only for him to feel wetness on his hand as the tiny crocodile started to... chew on his hand and talk with his mouth full: "Dile dile totodile!" (You taste weird, dad!)

But before Desmond could even react, a tiny green monkey crawled and jumped on his back and used the branch he had on his hand to smack the blue crocodile's forehead with a loud and slightly Hollow *thunk* sound that echoed out as the Grookey shouted: "Key! Grookey- gro gro gro!" (Hey! Stop that- stop stop stop!) With each "stop", Totodile earned a big smack on his hollow skull, making the sound echo out each time he was hit, until he let go of Desmond's hand and plopped on the ground, holding his head while tears gathered in the corner of his eyes.

"Hey, hey- stop that you two... it's okay." Sighing,  Desmond got down on his knees and picked up the tiny blue baby on his arms, holding him there with a sigh: "Don't fight, I'm okay." He leaned his head against the Grookey and the green monkey huffed and looked away, annoyed, while Litten simply kept sleeping on his shoulder.

Maybe it was because of how he treated them when they were babies... But later in life, the lazy and cuddly Litten would grow and evolve to be a boisterous and energetic Incineroar who was still very much cuddly, but also very assertive while the spoiled and adorable Totodile would grow up to become a large beast of soft spoken words and softer touch. Grookey? This small tsundere would grow to become quite the hot and cold massive grass monkey who would immediately melt under his daddy's hands.

For now, they were adorable.

But they would grow up to be ravenous beasts, and from them and many, many other Pokemon, this world would be saved.
