Chapter Text
after the sun declared that all planets are to share the same orbit his orbit everything has gone to shit; Neptune is sick and slowly dying, Uranus and Saturn are losing their rings, him and the other rocky planets are constantly almost crashing into Jupiter and it seems just keeps getting worse.
And the best part? It was all his fault. Earth has taken the time to reflect on the events that led up to this and in hindsight everybody played a part: Jupiters Grand Tact, Saturn forgetting the names of most of his moons, Uranus leaving the solar system plus his insensitive joke, X's behavior in the solar trials and his ejection, the moon revolution and so much more. But when push comes to shove it all started with him and his insecurities leading him to insult Titan.
If he hadn't been so narcissistic then maybe none of this would have happened. If he hadn't been so arrogant as to insult others to make himself feel better, so selfish as to use others as validation without a care for their feelings, if he had treated Luna right! instead of disregarding him then maybe just maybe they would have been an actual family instead of the fucked up dysfunctional system they are.
Oh stars there are so many things he could have done, should have done! He should have stood up for Mercury when Venus made fun of him, he should have been there for Venus taking his insecurities seriously when he was feeling self-conscious, he should've not have taken Mars for granted and instead treated him like the best friend he was to him, he should have reached out to form deeper connection with the Giants, should've talked with the moons and made sure he was being appreciated!
But he didn't and for that he was an idiot. The universe is biggest fool. Though in the end it didn't matter you can't change the past; if you could then he wouldn't exist and the word would have been better for it. Theia and Proto were much better then he could ever be. At least form what he's seen from his...
Memories?
Visions?
Or whatever they were. (He actively tries to avoid thinking about the logistics of that whole experience. Deeply repressing the fact that he literally met the closest thing to God which was the singularity and talked to the dead who also made up parts of him; an identity and existential crisis is the last thing he needs right now)
The best thing to come out of his existence was Luna his dearest moon. Luna doesn't deserve to suffer the consequences of his actions and failures. And honestly Earth was tired, so very tired. Exhaustion is a familiar core deep ache that seeps into his crust like an old friend heavy and profound. The ever present itch of his humans digging into his surface and doing their other activities more apparent than ever.
Earth closes his eyes and develops into a meditative state. He focuses on his surface feeling the faint warmth of his atmosphere which was called from his oceans and constant shifting mantle and crust. He senses to the slight sensation of panic and worry from his earthlings especially the humans. He couldn't blame them after everything that had happened. His suicide attempt, going all the way into the kuiper belt, all the orbit switching and moving around especially during the moon revolution. Poor things must be so scared after all it's only natural for them to try to survive the matter what. Even if it means harming him he was okay with that.
His mind drifted as sleep was threatening to consume it. It has been so long since he had a chance to relax. The Theia situation doesn't count. while technically he was unconscious for good person of that, the panic stress and confusion made it of restless feeling.
In some corner of his mind he knew that this was a bad idea. But it was ignored for his overwhelming need to just be completely unaware for a few hours or days, he doesn't care he just needs to shut off his consciousness for a bit.
Preferably forever
With Jupiter and Saturn busy speaking with each other while Venus and Mercury were arguing as Mars tried to mediate and Luna talking to the other moons, no one could prevented what happened next.
...
BOOM
.....
........
Pain exploded throughout his entire body agony swallowing him whole.
.....
And the suddenly
