Chapter Text
Mark was not having a good day; in fact, this was one of the worst days of his life. First off, he had a wonderful date with Amber until it was interrupted by a Viltrumite that threatened her life. Then she tried to talk him into joining the Viltrum Empire so they can enslave his planet. After Mark refused, she roughed him up and promised that worse would follow if he doesn’t obey them. Then after that Amber breaks up with him because she knows she can’t handle being used as leverage against him. And then a guy named Angstrom Levy kidnaps his mom and little brother and keeps sending him to different dimensions. He encounters sentient dinosaurs, Brain eating zombies, and some weird guy named Omnipotus. He finally lands on a rooftop in a city he doesn’t recognize.
Mark lets out a sigh and rests on the rooftop for a moment slowly breathing and processing all the dimensions that he was in and the danger that his family was currently in. Mark stands up with a groan and glances at the roof that he is on. The only way up was via a fire escape, and the gravel was harsh against his boots.
Mark wipes some blood off his nose and floats up scanning the environment around him. The city around him is empty and for some reason it reminds him of Midnight City. “Well shit, I hope this dimension is normal.” Mark says to himself as he looks around.
He floats back down onto the roof and starts to pace “Okay I just need to stay here so the portal will come back then I’ll save my mom.” He tries not to worry about his family; Angstrom only seems to hate Mark so they should be okay. In the distance Mark can hear gunshots, quickly floating up he flies to where he hears the gunfire coming from.
The gunfight is happening at a warehouse, and Mark stops to watch the fighting happening bellow him. He sees some costumed heroes fighting a group of criminals and a really big guy. While Mark considers if he should join the fight, he sees that one of the younger heroes is getting snuck up on by a man with a gun. Without hesitation Mark flies down as the man shoots the gun and blocks the bullet from hitting him. “It’s not nice to shoot people.” Invincible says with a smirk before he karate chops the mans shoulder making him cry out in pain as he falls on the floor.
For a moment everyone pauses to look at the newcomer before the fighting continues. Mark sees that the big man is attempting to flee after spotting him. “Going somewhere?!” Mark yells at him as he flies into him sending flying into a pile of barrels. “Apparently not.” Bane said before throwing a punch at him, Mark easily catches the punch and returns it with an uppercut that launches him in the air.
Mark turns to face the nearest hero who was a man in a black and blue suit. “Uh how durable is this guy?” “Bane is pretty durable it’ll take a few of your punches to knock him out. I take it you’re not from around here?” The man said with a smile. “Is it that obvious?” Mark joked and flew to where Bane fell.
“This was not supposed to happen!” Bane yelled and smacked Mark away sending him flying a few feet away. Mark steadied himself and launched himself at Bane punching him faster than he could react, sending him flying into the warehouse. Mark flew in after him “You should give up I’m stronger and faster than you.” Mark says to Bane who is lying on the ground. “W-who are you?” Bane grunts out in pain. “I’m Invincible.” He then punched him knocking out Bane.
After glancing at Bane one more time Mark flew out of the warehouse to help out the Heroes take out the remaining villains. Only to find that they have all been taken care of. All the heroes looked at Mark and one of them, a man in dark armor, a cape, and pointed horns walked over to him. “Who are you and what are you doing in my city?” “I’m Invincible and as much as I’d like to chat I really can’t right now.” Is all he said before he flew back to the rooftop he was teleported to.
Robin walked up to Batman. “He helped me father, I’m sure he is a good person.” Bruce only answers with a grunt and he pulls out his grappling hook to follow after him. Nightwing lets out a sigh before he also grabs his. “Well, I better make sure B. doesn’t scare this guy off.” Is all he says before he grapples after them.
Mark lands softly on the roof and sits on the edge he doesn’t even hear the man until he’s right next to him Mark jumps and lets out a manly yelp “Jesus! How long have you been standing there?!” He yelled at the man who simply stood there staring at him.
The silence begins to drag on awkwardly so Mark decides to break the silence. “So do you have a name?” “Batman.” Was the answer he got. “Huh that’s a lazy name.” Batman blinked in surprise “What?” “No I mean you’re a man that dresses like a bat and you’re name is… Well I mean like don’t you think that’s kinda lazy?”
Mark also didn’t see the other guy until he burst into laughter “He’s got a point B!” He says with amusement. And if looks could kill the other man would be in the morgue. “Aww don’t be like that we all like your name.” He says with a dramatic pout. “Anyways I’m certain that this guy is responsible for the dimensional readings Oracle was telling us about.” He said his tone becoming more serious.
Mark looked somewhat relieved “Oh you guys deal with interdimensional situations frequently then?” “More often than you’d think.” Nightwing said with a laugh “Anyways I’m Nightwing I heard you say you’re name was Invincible,” “Uh yeah, I’m Invincible.” “Isn’t that a little optimistic?” “Yeah, I’ve heard that before.”
“What are you doing in our dimension?” Batman asked cutting off their banter. Mark sobers up, trying to hide his worry from the other heroes.“Okay so I’m fighting this guy called Angstrom Levy and his powers opening portals to other dimensions. He uh was using this device and I intervened and it blew up, I guess he blames me for it and he has my mom and brother held hostage.” Mark let out a sigh and put his face in his hands.
A hand came to rest on his shoulder and he looked up and saw that it was Batman who reached out to comfort him. “We’ll help you in anyway you can.” Batman told him. “Thanks.” Mark gave him a slight smile. “So have you guys fought anyone like this before?” He asked them “Not quite though we can give you a few tips back out our cave.” Nightwing offered “I have to decline he usually opens the portal after a few hours where he opened it the first time.
“Wait you guys have a cave?” Mark asked and Nightwing smirked at him “And you’ll never guess what it’s called.” “You were the one that named it.” Batman pointed out a smirk on his face. Nightwing pouted “Okay but if the portal is expected to open at any time what do we do when it does open?” Nightwing asked Batman. “Well, we’ll have to- “
And cutting Batman off was the portal appearing right infront of them. Mark jumps up to his feet and turns to face them. “It was nice meeting you guys but I got to save my family and I can’t ask you join me and risk stranding yourselves.” Mark says in a rush before he waves and jumps into the portal.
The portal then shuts leaving Batman and Nightwing to stare at where Invincible once was. “…I’ll tell Oracle to alert us if anymore dimensional readings are found.” Nightwing says before he does a somersault off the roof. Batman stands there a moment longer before he snaps himself out of it. “Good luck Invincible.” Bruce says to himself before he continues his patrol.

When Batman returns to the Batcave hours later he sits at the Batcomputer and writes a report about everything he saw today. Halfway through it Oracle sends him a message she picked up some dimensional readings coming from the Gotham national park.
Preparing for the worst batman calls his friend Superman on the Batcomputer. After a few rings Clark picks up, “Bruce it’s 4am I-“ “I might need your help meet me at the Batcave.” As soon as he finished his sentence Superman was standing right behind him. “What is it Bruce?” Clark asks trying to keep the concern out of his voice.
“A few hours ago I met a hero by the name of Invincible, he was fighting a man named Angstrom Levy, he has the power to open portals to different dimensions. He got sent to our dimension and saved Robin from getting shot. These readings are the same ones from when he first appeared in our dimension. I don’t know what to expect so I need you to assist me.” Batman explained to Clark.
“Alright then let’s get going, I imagine he’s going to want all the help he can get.” Superman told Batman. “Thank you Clark, now let’s get going before something bad happens.”
