happiness is a warm gun

Summary:

Jay has a type of guy he gravitates towards and that results in bringing another one back to his tour bus

(Famous Jay au with implied MattJay stuff)

Notes:

Currently writing one MattJay fic but took a break cos I couldn't stop thinking about why Famous Jay had a loaded gun just by his bed lol

Work Text:

Jay’s crew knew this was a weekly occurrence so it was never a surprise when he brought a stranger back to his tour bus while on the road. Even if they were shocked, they knew better than to say something to him unless they were looking to be in an unemployment line.

The boy, no, man, he had to be at least in his early twenties, was this cute blond he met at a bar. The guys were always blond, not skinny but also not fat and nice lips. This one met all the criteria and even approached him first, not realizing it was The Jay McCarrol he was talking to. Jay attached to that kind of bravado and offered for him to come back to his place. The stranger, still not recognizing him, agreed and it was once they were nearing his bus that the guy put two and two together.

Jay saw it too, the look of awe as his eyes widened in recognition. He was used to it by now, but this one’s expression reminded him so much of his old friend that he didn’t try to calm him down and let it ride.

He let the stranger in first, allowing him to look around the empty tour bus then back to Jay.

“I can’t fucking believe this,” he said, “you’re-you’re him.” He kept his arms to himself like he was scared to break anything and be stuck with a massive bill. Even has he gestured around, the stranger never stretched too far.

Jay just laughed. “Last I checked, yeah.” He felt so cool saying that, what a great comeback.

He then approached the stranger, taking his face into his hands. He really did look so much like him, it was almost uncanny. And he knew what Matt looked like, he and his pathetic cover band were always posting on social media and tagging him. Even if that weren’t the case, Jay had his ways and those ways involved combing the internet for any of Matt’s personal accounts. Not that he cared, not that he wasn’t happy where he was. Why wouldn’t he be? He didn’t need Matt.

Jay brought his lips to the stranger’s, forcing his tongue between his lips with a low growl. Meanwhile, the stranger’s hands apprehensively roamed Jay’s body, stopping at his hips. Pushing forward, Jay grinded against the stranger’s crotch and pushed him back closer and closer to his bed. The kiss broke when the stranger needed to come up for air, gasping hot, alcohol-laced breath in Jay’s face.

“Mr. McCarrol,” started the stranger but was stopped.

“Call me Bird,” Jay said in a way he thought would make him sound cool or suave.

“What?” he asked, still out of breath. Jay’s grip on the stranger’s face tightened.

“Call me Bird.”

“Sure,” said the stranger, nodding, “sure, yeah okay, Bird. Whatever you want.” Jay stifled a moan and brought the man in for another kiss, this time reaching between them to grab at the hardening dick in the stranger’s jeans.

The kiss broke once again, Jay noticed the stranger had gotten a lot more still in his hold. He avoided Jay’s gaze, suddenly so unattractively bashful. This wouldn’t do, he could already feel himself getting turned off, and needed a way to loosen the guy up again. Or at least give himself a rush.

“Hey,” Jay said, “why don’t we play a game?”

“What…kinda game?”

“You’ll love it, it’s a personal favorite. Stay there.”

Jay stepped away without turning his back, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he grabbed at the pristine gun he kept displayed on the wall separating his bed from the rest of the bus and aimed it at the stranger. This was a common thing he would do and it usually ended in two ways:

1. Whoever he brought back would freak out and demand to leave, or try to run away -> Let them go but force them to sign an NDA

2. Whoever he brought back would be very into it  -> They have sex

If they were really into it, Jay would keep the gun on him during sex, pressing it to the stranger's temple or wherever he wanted until he came.

One time he also convinced someone to play Russian Roulette with him after doing too much coke, but that ended when the guy blew half his ear off and blamed Jay for it. So he doesn’t offer that game anymore. He also decided he’d no longer share his good coke after that.

This one leaned towards the former, but instead of turning to run, he just froze with his hands flying into the air.

“Whoa, whoa, hey what are you doing?!” The stranger still stayed in his place, shaking with his knees turning inward, looking like he was about to piss himself.

“Calm down, it’s just a game.” Jay rolled his eyes, waving the gun around until he had it perfectly aimed for the stranger’s head. Was he about to cry? He sure was sweating a lot.

“Please, wait, Jay-“

“I said to call me Bird.”

“BIRD!” the stranger cried, voice cracking. “Please don’t do this. Please, I swear I won’t say anything.” God, Jay thought, this one even babbled like Matt. The obnoxious begging was surprisingly not killing his erection which was a plus, but this needed to get moving.

Still, the stranger didn’t move an inch, even as he begged for his life, even as Jay pulled the trigger to a resounding

CLICK!

A shriek ripped from the stranger’s throat, hands no longer in the air but instead covering his face in what would’ve been a futile effort had it not been for the fact that nothing shot at him. He stood there for a moment before letting his hands fall from his face, big eyes looking at the barrel of the gun.

“You idiot,” Jay said with another laugh, “the safety’s on, duh.” He doubled over with another barking laugh, then wiped his eye. The stranger didn't move and all it did was make Jay feel that twinge of self-consciousness he hand't felt since before he was famous. Like when he'd stand at the back of the room at a party with...

Jay tried to put on a casual expression. "Look, I know how to handle this." Jay said this while waving the gun around and accidentally, somehow, firing the gun. Thwn it was Jay's turn to yelp, nearly dropping the gun. The stranger took cover, arms over his head and for a moment Jay froze, convinced he did hit him, but really he just shot the small bowl of fruit nearby. Jay unconsciously let another laugh slip at just how close it really came. How did he even take the safety off just now? Maybe he wasn't that great with guns, not that that would stop him from keeping it.

The stranger wasn’t amused or even turned on, there was no egging on or anger just fear. Jay sighed and put the gun back on the wall.

“Look, okay, see it’s back on the wall.” Jay showed his empty hands to the stranger who still didn’t move. God, he was crying, Jay could see a few stray tears roll down the stranger's cheek and some drool pool on the corner of his mouth. This guy was practically drenched in sweat, you'd think Jay had done so much worse. It should have grossed him out but Jay wanted nothing more than to make it worse.

The stranger wiped his nose with his sleeve and swallowed hard as Jay got closer.

"You're such a pussy," Jay mumbled, running a hand through his hair and pulling on it slightly.

The stranger muttered something incomprehensible as Jay smashed their lips together again and led him to a sitting position on the edge of the bed. He didn’t stop him or anything, complete putty in Jay’s hands. Teary eyes met Jay’s and it was obvious that nothing would get done if he didn’t make nice.

“I’m sorry, I just thought that would lighten the mood,” said Jay in the most sad, pouty voice he could muster as he climbed onto the stranger’s lap. He guided the guy’s hands so that they were back on his hips and thrusted against him. Clearly he wasn’t traumatized enough to not get hard again so there was that. “You don’t wanna stop, do you?”

“It’s, uh,” said the stranger, looking up at Jay with those familiar eyes and lips parted, “it’s okay, Bird.” That did it, Jay was shoving the stranger back onto the bed so that he could easily unzip his jeans and tear them off.

He ended up blowing the stranger, even graciously letting him come in his mouth, then jerked himself off over his face. There was no post-coital holding or talking, just collecting clothes and having the stranger sign an NDA on his way out. The stranger made no eye contact and shuffled into the night.

Then Jay was alone again with his own thoughts. Which was just fine, he loved being with himself. He may just lock the bus door so no one could disturb him for the next few hours while he enjoyed his own company.

Maybe he’ll go on his laptop and watch a few random videos on Youtube. Nothing in particular, oh maybe he’d just happen to search up Jay McCarrol cover band and watch some of those to laugh at.

Then afterwards, maybe he’d check his Instagram or Facebook to see what stupid shit he was tagged in. Maybe he’d just happen to stumble on his old friend, Matt’s profile and maybe he’d take a quick look. To laugh at how much better his life was now without him. And maybe that would lead to one of the poorly hidden burner accounts Matt had to defend Jay on every stupid little thing, or just to document random candid shots Jay had no idea how he got.

Yeah, that sounded like a great plan.
