Work Text:
In New York, it's not uncommon for people to say, "Look at Scott Hunter!". When someone was complaining about their lot in life, when there was a minor tragedy the greater public would say, "Look at Scott Hunter, look at the orphan, he kept his head down and worked his way to the top, you can do it too."
Captain America, the Golden Boy of Russian Olympics and then it turns out he likes kissing boys. Should've kept the military associations away, don't ask, don't tell eh? It's a little tarnished, the Hunter Brand now.
But now when a boy comes out to his hockey-obsessed father- he can look at Scott Hunter, he can look into his father's eyes and ask him if he didn't belong here, in his dad's world too?
It may be perhaps that after all these years people don't just look at him, people now finally see Scott Hunter. Hunter probably doesn't care that some say he slept his way to the top now. For the first time, the top isn't lonely.
