Summary
Christopher’s writing his third please see the Chicago style formatting guide comment when he looks up to see his ex-husband standing outside his favourite coffee shop. The water droplets on the window between them obscure his vision enough that Christopher almost didn’t recognise the side profile on the other side of the glass. Almost.
But Scott looks the same, nearly – save the added gray to his beard. And he could have changed entirely; he could have gained or lost sixty pounds, or bleached his eyebrows, and Christopher would know that it was him, somehow.

Summary
The set up is the same each week, a horseshoe of ten or so easels in a large art studio, bare plaster walls with daubs and sketches and notes scattered across them. One corner is taken over by an array of fibre creations – a crocheted net pinned up to the ceiling, countless garlands, and oversized plushies of what appear to be Bert and Ernie. The light is entirely natural, streaming through the skylights over their heads and washing the room in gray or pale yellow depending on the day. It smells of paper and dust and oil paints. Kip fucking loves it.

The world is a little greyer today. It could be the weather – overcast in that way that makes the entire sky one block of nothing colour and the ever present threat of rain is there, held over Kip’s head, making the air heavier. Everyone in his carriage is wearing a parka, zip pulled up to their chin. Kip didn’t think it was that cold.
