PROLOGUE
Each labored breath echoes to the roof of the abandoned warehouse. The moon shining through the gap on the roof finally got bored of this spectacle as it retreated back within the dark clouds. Now, crimson and the shadows blend into one, only the strong scent of iron remains unhidden.
“P..please…I beg of you..” A vermin still manages to croak out. She would have preferred to listen to frogs but the clouds remained a miser with its rain. Only slow drops of blood can be heard so only vermin would cry in response.
“I told you everything I know…”
Finally fed up, she chooses to respond one last time to the pest, like a fool expecting rationality from an animal. Including a compliment, she says softly, “Yamada-san, I believe that you can really think hard enough to remember the answer. Come on now, just breathe more deeply and it will come to you.”
She observes its chest weakly shuddering a breath as it responds, “I really don’t know anything else…” It looks up as she looms over, and suddenly lets out a shriek. “Gaaahh please! No more!”
A shadow falls over her face as an irritated thought passes by. ‘This is taking too goddamn long.’
Then, her phone rings. With a hammer on her left hand, she flips her phone open with her right and sees:
ALARM
🌸VACAY TIME!!!🌸
00:00
A loud thud and the pest flinches. It sees the hammer on the floor and when it looks up, the monster is already walking away.
Weakly, it voices out, “Where are you going…?”
Feeling generous with her mood suddenly lifting, she answers back. “Am’ off the clock. My vacation starts now.”
The moon shows herself again, perhaps pitying the pests in the dark. Alone, the man's ears are still ringing even after the heels of the monster are long gone.
