"Stay still."

Mami watched the girl in her arms make an indignant noise and lean back. Mami, in turn, sighed, and pulled Homura Akemi closer. Mami felt a little guilty about this, just a little. "You volunteered, Akemi. If you're having second thoughts…"

The older girl had loosened her grip on Akemi, enough to let her get up and leave if she so desired. Akemi did not leave. It relieved Mami. Pushing aside any other possible emotions this interaction is causing, Mami was hungry.

"I was just… getting ready," Akemi muttered, "you were very eager." The other magical girl's tone was blunt, making Mami blush a little in embarrassment.

"I'm just hungry."

"I am aware." Akemi's eyes briefly landed on Mami's lips before quickly looking away. The vampire did catch a hint of blush on the other girl's cheeks much to her amusement.

Mami's first impression of Akemi wasn't that nice. A cold magical girl Mami had to drive away or fight eventually due to their differing opinions on their existence, plus Akemi's hostility towards Kyubey. Mami just couldn't see herself befriending someone so aggressive to her friend.

But then, Akemi had approached her with a proposal. A week ago, Mami had woke up as a vampire. She tried asking Kyubey what was going on and how to reverse this, but her friend didn't have any answers. He seemed as confused as Mami. Though he said he would look into it, Mami hoped he would've found a solution by now… Unfortunately, Kyubey said he hadn't found anything new yet.

Mami had starved herself of human blood, hoping that Kyubey would find a solution before she had to resort to stealing from the hospital or even another person. Mami really hoped she didn't have to resort to the last one.

She had been getting close to the hospital plan though.

The vampire had led Akemi back to her apartment after school despite Sayaka and Madoka's confused looks and questions on why they were suddenly all 'friendly'. Mami wouldn't really call their interactions friendly just yet, Akemi was still all stoic expressions and glares with her. But it felt less cold than before? If this was all an act, then Mami would have to scold herself later after kicking Akemi out of her territory, but right now—sitting on her couch—Mami felt safe enough to lean in closer despite how prickly Akemi was still being.

"Then hold still, moving around won't make it go any faster. It's a first for me too." Mami lightly scolded. She internally cringed a little at how suggestive that sounded. "I just need a small bite, that's all I ask for."

"Fine." Akemi seemed to have either ignored or not noticed the accidental innuendo from Mami. The magical girl on Mami's lap finally forced herself still. "… Is this position really necessary?"

"Yes."

"… Okay. Fine. If it's really that necessary."

"You didn't comment on it earlier…"

"I was caught off guard," Akemi gritted her teeth a little, "let's just get this over with."

A pity.

One of Mami's arms left its position on Akemi's back to move her hand up to cup the other girl's cheek. "Alright." She paused for a moment to admire the girl in her lap, the other magical girl glared at her but Mami could see the blush on Akemi's cheeks. Akemi had always stood at a distance from her which caused a little disparity on how Mami thought she'd look like up close as opposed to how Akemi actually looked like. The other girl was actually a little shorter than Mami, thinner too, and she looked tired.

Mami still quietly marveled at Akemi's appearance. The other magical girl's neat black hair paired with her pale skin was more suited for the beautiful vampire role than Mami was. Not that Mami was disparaging herself, Akemi just looked more in-line to what most people would expect from a vampire. The older girl gazed at Akemi's sharp eyes, tired but still stunning in its own right, the purple complimenting Akemi's already pretty looks.

"Mami Tomoe."

"Ah- Right." Mami felt embarrassed at having to be reminded again to hurry up. She did feel a twinge of disappointment at her admiration being cut short. That disappointment didn't last long. It was Mami's turn to blush as she leaned into Akemi. She dipped her head, her nose brushing against the skin of Akemi's neck. The other girl's neck smelled so sweet… Mami could already catch the scent of Akemi's blood. "Are you sure about this…?"

"I am. It's too late to back out now anyways, for your sake," Akemi mumbled, her voice was considerably less impatient and softer now—almost shy—it still maintained that defensive quality though.

Mami couldn't deny that. Slowly, she sunk her teeth into the softness of Akemi's neck, her fangs puncturing the skin.

The older magical girl prided herself on being the example of a model magical girl for Madoka and Sayaka, despite them not having chosen to be magical girls yet, and she still had to keep up appearances for any magical girl that happened to enter her territory. A quality of a model magical girl, in Mami's opinion, was restraint.

Right now, it was hard to maintain that restraint. Akemi's blood slowly flowed into her mouth from the two pinpricks her fangs made in the other girl's neck. A week of blood starvation made it hard to resist draining the magical girl in her lap dry. Akemi would probably fight back if Mami attempted that though. Speaking of Akemi…

Akemi had initially tensed as Mami bit her before forcing her body to relax. The younger girl's breathing went a bit funny for a few moments before stabilizing. Once Akemi stopped being so stiff, Mami started swallow the blood that was slowly but steadily flowing into her mouth. Mami might've made a possibly pathetic whimper at the sensation of finally being fed.

A quick glance at Akemi's face made Mami fear that it was audible enough for Homura to hear… Which didn't really need to be much considering what they were doing. Mami just couldn't help it. Akemi's blood was tasty.

… Though, as Mami drank more blood, the more she noticed the flavor of the blood. As weird as Mami thought it was to think about. It was delicious in the way most food was to a starving person, which, in a way that was the literal situation right now. It was just off. Like there wasn't much nutrients in it. It worried Mami, if her blood didn't have that much nutrients then how much did Akemi eat?

"I'm feeling a little light-headed." Akemi suddenly said as she put her hands on Mami's shoulders.

The suddenness almost made Mami jolt, despite the worry that was started to build, she was still enjoying feeling the heat of Akemi's skin under her mouth and the sweet scent of blood under the girl's neck.

Mami pulled away just slightly, enough to be able to see the blood start to build up on the pinpricks her fangs made. Without thinking, she leaned in—her warm breath tickling the skin of the other girl's neck—and licked the blood, lapping the liquid up. Mami just needed a little more blood…

The vampire made a small grunt as the girl in her lap gently shoved her away. It took a moment for Mami to regain her composure, by then, she felt all embarrassed and guilty now. "A-Akemi…! I apologize, I should've backed off."

Mami knew she must've looked pathetic, needing help from another magical girl who was practically a stranger to her and acting this… needy? Desperate. She sucked in a shaky breath through her teeth and looked away, feeling the heat rise in her cheeks. "Are you alright…?"

There was a brief, awkward pause.

"I'm alright." Akemi finally spoke up, struggling to keep her tone neutral, Mami could see that the other girl was also blushing and was bad at trying to hide it. Homura held up her hand with her soul gem to her neck and used magic to heal the bite. Mami suppressed a dissatisfied noise watching it disappear, she really needed to pull herself together.

"Homura… Can I call you that now?" Mami tried after watching the skin finish healing.

The other magical girl immediately looked up at her, making a weird expression, Mami started to feel like she overstepped-

"Okay. You can." Homura sounded robotic. It seems like she was still flustered. Mami found it cute how Homura tried covering it up.

"Alright, thank you Homura." Mami smiled at the girl.

Another pause… Homura got off Mami's lap and stood up, looking anywhere but Mami. Mami wasn't sure how she talked Homura into that now that her head was clearer without the hunger. It made her wonder a little how much would Homura indulge her privately like this.

"I mean it, Homura, thank you for indulging me. I was close to resorting to stealing from a hospital or something, then I'd feel really guilty."

Homura slowly lifted her gaze to look Mami in the eyes. The girl had already composed herself. Mami watched her run her fingers through her hair and do a hair flip. Was it some sort of thing she does when nervous…?

"It's of no issue to me, Mami Tomoe. I'm not sure we can remain on friendly terms due to our different views on whether or not Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki should become magical girls." Homura's tone turned serious. "But, I want us to at least remain not hostile to each other and I also don't want you to die."

Homura's gaze softened after that declaration but her voice remained serious. "… How long do you think you're going to be like this?"

"I don't know. I asked Kyubey—" Mami noticed Homura tensing slightly at the mention of his name— "but he still hasn't found anything on how or why."

Homura looked a little surprised at that. The girl seemed to give it some thought before nodding. "I see. I'll be taking my leave now." The girl turned around and started to walk to the door.

Mami felt a little distraught at the girl leaving but she couldn't be too clingy. "Wait- Homura, can you come by tomorrow again? A little after six if that's alright."

The other magical girl stopped for a moment, "fine," she continued to walk away. Mami watched Homura leave through the door, she still felt disappointed but she now had something else to look forward to.

This past week had been rough, turning into a vampire and all, but she could still walk around in the sun—she figured it was because she was a magical girl—and had made new friends in Madoka and Sayaka. Now, she could possibly have Homura as another friend. Though, she still wasn't sure where they stood at. Homura didn't want her to die but it sounded like she didn't particularly care too.

Mami let out a small huff and leaned back into her couch. How frustrating… Being indulged by the girl while simultaneously being denied full sincerity. There was also the matter of Homura's blood having low nutritional value, Mami could feel her concern rapidly growing at the thought. This girl was gonna stress her to death. Mami wished she could've at least exchanged phone numbers, she'd been too caught up with her emotions and Homura's words to say anything, she'd just have to ask for it tomorrow. Right now, Mami had to calm herself down and not act too eager as to not potentially drive Homura away. It didn't help her ''vampire senses'' could still practically perfectly recall how nice Homura's neck smelled.

Homura rubbed the side of her neck, her earlier situation with Mami still fresh in her head even though she was back in her own apartment—away from Mami. She could feel herself blushing again at the memory. Her friend ally leaning in to take a bite from her and drink the blood, licking her neck, having her sit on the older girl's lap… Not to mention all the staring.

Was it because Mami was a vampire? And that Mami was hungry too? Homura can't imagine Mami looking at her with such affection and intensity, not anymore at least. Right, yes. Homura probably just seemed like a very tasty and generous snack for letting Mami feed from her. She figured Mami would probably feed from her again tomorrow. That little blood surely wasn't enough, right?

She'd have to prepare for the sensation. The moment Mami had bit Homura, she only felt a slight sting before that area of her neck seemed to numb and her limbs felt heavier. Homura had heard of animals whose bites had properties to sedate and numb the pain in order to catch and eat prey easier. That thought was concerning. So, Mami saw Homura as prey…? That's what Homura guessed. It made the most sense at least. Homura knew Mami wasn't stupid, she wouldn't trust Homura that quickly just because she offered to be a blood bag.

Homura sighed and looked at a recently bought notebook. Her notes about Walpurgisnacht had left all her other notebooks too full for any information about whatever was happening. Deviations in different time loops did happen, she thought it was just small ones—irrelevant—but now apparently it can be as big as other magical girls becoming vampires and stuff. It would be best to keep track of these big deviations in case they repeat further down the line if this timeline fails.

She had suspected maybe Kyubey had a hand in this somehow, but knowing the white rat, turning magical girls into vampires wouldn't be logical for him. Unfortunately, that left Homura with no other explanations… It wasn't like magical girls were automatically made into vampires in this world, Mami was still a veteran but seemed new to the vampire thing from what Homura could glean from the situation and what Mami told her. It was frustrating.

It wasn't the end of the world though, as long as this phenomena was contained to Mami only then Homura can handle it. And, Homura benefits from it too. An easy way to earn Mami's trust, at least enough trust so that she'd listen to Homura. She can pretend they can be friends, maybe.

There wasn't a lot Homura could pick apart and analyze about this situation after writing the little things she definitively knew down. Unanswered questions, an even more uncertain future… At least it was Mami. Homura didn't know what she'd do if she found out Sayaka became both a magical girl and vampire in this timeline. Kyoko being a vampire would be bearable. The girl would drink until she felt satisfied and possibly tease her a little. That was fine. Madoka… Could Homura allow this timeline to go forward if Madoka became a vampire? Being a vampire doesn't sound like a good fate. She doesn't deserve the suffering. Madoka wouldn't want to drink other people's blood too even though Homura would let Madoka drink from her without a second thought.

What a headache.

She supposed she'd just have to see what'll happen as grating as that thought is.

It only occured to Homura a few minutes later that she could've made Mami drink from her wrists instead.

Notes:

I'll probably add at least a Sayaka chapter since I already have a concept for that
