Summary
After the events of season 2, Alastor carries Vox’s decapitated body back to the hotel and grows rather fond of it. He takes good care of it, cleans it, dresses it in better clothes, and decides that it deserves a head, so he grabs an old CRT monitor and doesn’t quite manage to attach all the wires correctly and it’s almost like having Vincent back.
Vox’s consciousness gets sucked into his newly whole body and he's less than thrilled to realise that he cannot move an inch thanks to Alastor’s shoddy wiring job. The irony of him now being The Radio Demon’s prisoner is not lost on him, so he decides to keep quiet until he can find a way to escape. Easier said than done.
Alastor realises that Vox is actually in the room with him, which he thinks is hilarious until he doesn’t. Suddenly, they’re talking about the past and why it all went wrong and Alastor finds himself hoping for a second chance with the man he cares about more than he’d like to admit.

Despite being a single chapter, its length gave the characters and, more importantly, their dynamic enough room to breathe and develop.
The premise is admittedly quite morbid at first. Alastor brings Vox’s corpse back to the hotel, takes care of his headless body, and even lets the story dwell on the beginning of the decay before eventually attaching an old monitor to his body as a replacement head. Because of Alastor’s rather questionable wiring skills, Vox is completely unable to move and is essentially at Alastor’s mercy.
What I found particularly interesting was Alastor talking to Vox for a long time, despite believing that he wasn’t actually conscious. Through those conversations, he gradually revisits their shared past and all the things that went wrong between them. Once Vox finally regains consciousness with his new head, it becomes clear that much of Alastor’s hatred and the hostility between them had been more of an act than either of them wanted to admit. Vox’s near-death also forces Alastor to confront just how deeply the possibility of losing him affects him.
Overall, it’s a rather morbid love story, but somehow one that fits the two of them surprisingly well. Alastor is still very much himself in the way he dominates and controls the situation, while beneath that exterior there are a lot of much deeper, more vulnerable emotions at play. I especially liked that contrast: outwardly, he remains the powerful and composed Radio Demon, while his actions reveal just how much Vox actually means to him.
