Work Text:
After Appa is gone, the kyoshi warriors lose to girls from the fire nation. Knowing well that the girl who has blue fire is Azula. Other? Doesn’t matter to her. Until the girl with the long braid chi blocks to her. Yes.., that girl is the bigger problem than Azula.
And the scent of smoke and scorched earth filled the air. Suki hates smoke from fire as she hates fire nation. The pain of getting chi blocks still lingered in Suki’s nerve endings, leaving her body completely paralyzed. Her limbs felt like her body refused to move. She couldn't lift her arms, she couldn't kick, she couldn't even wiggle her toes and the only part of her that still worked was her neck.
Now she lay on the ground, bruised and bound tightly in metal restraints. That stab deadass girl chains her.
Around her, the Kyoshi Warriors had already been subdued. She glared up through her messy hair, her eyes burning with pure hatred at the girl who was standing over her.
Azula looked down at the helpless warrior, her amber eyes gleaming with amusement as she watched Suki struggle to even keep her head lifted.
That’s cute.
”You're nothing but pathetic!!” Suki spat “You have to paralyze me just to stand near me without shaking?!”
Azula didn't even flinch. Instead, she let out a soft chuckle, checking her nails with nonchalance.
”You’re cowards!! Team Avatar will find you. And they will make you pay for this!”
”You know, I’ve seen that some boy was non-bender.. …What’s his name? Oh, 'Sokka',” Azula continued as she walked around Suki. ”I must admit, he’s... surprisingly handsome. Quite a pretty face. But oh, what a pity,” She stopped right in front of Suki, kneeling down and looking with teasing pity. ”There’s absolutely nothing there. Just a helpless, non-bender peasant playing soldier with a boomerang.”
“SHUT UP! DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT SOKKA LIKE THAT!” Suki screamed, her eyes wild with fury. She swears if she can free from this chain-
“Oh, did I hit a nerve?”
“He has ten times the courage, brilliance, and heart than you ever will, you psychotic!”
“Oh, really? Tell me how old he is?” Azula asked, rolling her eyes. “Because I’m pretty sure I’m younger than him, yet I didn't see me crying like some boy when he found out that three of the fire nation girls were chasing the avatar team. So, who's actually winning the courage contest here?”
“He's a genius!”
“I'm better. I’m a prodigy.” Azula checking her nails again. “A genius figures things out. A prodigy is born perfect. Big difference.”
“I'm going to kick your royal, pathetic ass! Unbind me right now and say that to my face, I dare you!!”
Azula shrugging her shoulders., and keeps teasing this kyoshi warrior. “Well, look at that. I’ve suddenly lost all my patience.” She shakes the metal chains that lock Suki to the ground. “Go ahead then. Unbind yourself. I’m standing right here. Kick me. I'm waiting.”
“YOU!!-”
Suki swear to the spirit, if she can’t take Azula down on the ground.
“I. Hate— you. I actually, truly HATE you,” Azula hissed, her voice muffled against the pillow. Her hair was wild and messy. “I told you I was tired hours ago, you pathetic! Get off me!” Azula shoves Suki’s shoulder with her shaking hand. She was too drained. “Ugh! Please, go back to Sokka. I, however, am not a peasant, I am still royalty and I demand rest!”
This kyoshi warrior is unbelievable.
Suki wasn't moving. She grinned. “Oh, come on. Don't act like you're completely done. I can tell you're still wet down there.”
Azula’s face flushed. “A— are you an idiot?! That is YOUR spit, you lunatic, not mine! Don't you dare take credit for your own disgusting mess! For agni sake, you’re unbelievable! I hate you!”
Suki, leaning over her with a smirk, had absolutely no intention of stopping. “You hate me? Really?” Suki acts with dramatic heartbreak. “Is this how you treat the person who helped you out of that crazy temple and has been taking care of you ever since? I went through it all for you!”
“I. Didn't. Ask. For your help!” Azula snapped back, pinched Suki’s arm. “I could have left that place on my own. You just came, saw me and took all the credit!”
“Right, right. Sure you could have.” Suki rubbing her arm after unfiltered sarcasm. “Is that why you were crying and throwing a tantrum like a toddler when I found you? 'Oh, nobody loves me!' yeah, you definitely didn't need help.”
That did it.
With a surge of spite, Azula whipped her head forward, painfully slamming her forehead right into Suki’s nose.
“Ow! What the—!” Suki groaned, stumbling backward and clutching her face.
Taking immediate advantage of Suki's temporary disorientation, Azula flipped out from under her, wrapping the bedsheets around herself like a cloak of protection.
“Look outside, you lunatic! The sun is already coming up!” Azula yelled, pointing a sharp finger toward the window where the first morning light was breaking. “It's morning! Enough is enough!”
Azula scoffed, turned to storm away with pulling the sheets tighter around herself. But the moment her feet touched the floor, her knees buckled. Her legs trembling after the exhausting night they just had. She stumbled forward, catching herself against the bedpost.
Suki watched from the bed, rubbing her sore nose, but she couldn't help the laugh.
“Pfft— oh wow, look at you,” Suki teased, letting out a laugh. “Look who's walking like a newborn turtle-duck learning how to take its first steps. Need some help, Princess?”
Azula caught herself against the bedpost, her legs still trembling. But hearing Suki laugh and call her a “newborn turtle-duck” was the last straw.
“Oh, please,” Her voice dripped with calculated mockery as she looked Suki up and down. “You think my legs are shaking because you did a good job? Don't flatter yourself, sweetie. I’m exhausted from acting like I was actually enjoying your... pathetic little performance”
Suki’s laughter instantly died in her throat. The smug smile vanished from Suki's face, replaced by a deep, burning blush that spread to her ears. She sat up straight in bed, completely losing her cool.
“YOU— WHAT?! Pathetic?!” Suki yelled as she pointed a shaking finger at Azula. “I literally spent three hours! You were literally screaming my name, Azula! Don't you dare lie through your teeth just because your knees are weak! Unbelievable! Come back here right now, I'll show you!!”
Azula didn't even flinch at Suki's outburst. “Well, I didn't ask you to do it for three hours. That was entirely your own poor time management.” Azula dragging her jelly-like legs slowly wobbled her way toward the bathroom, completely ignoring Suki.
Suki’s jaw dropped.
This princess is unbelievable.
