Chapter Text
Who is this and why am I suspicious?
12PM at Arcadia Oaks High.
It was the usual. Jim was talking to Toby about trolls, Claire paid attention to the lesson somewhat, and Steve was too busy picking on Eli. Though, no day at Arcadia Oaks would be usual. In fact, the only usual day would be when no creepers tried to attack. Even then, battle scars and trauma still stood in the protagonists’ minds.
Aja and Krel came to the school this week, and of course, due to his forty-seven days of absence, Jim had to show them around the high school along with his friends. They weren’t exactly normal, and how would I word this? Weird. They kept looking out and about for a Daxial Array that the school would never have, and said they were from Cantaloupia even if that didn’t exist.
To nobody’s surprise, another weird student arrived. Though, less obvious.
“Eli?” Señor Uhl called out. Eli was worrying about “creepers” in Arcadia. So, he had to call again. “Eli!” That made him flinch.
“Yes?” Eli said in his squeaky voice, a little nervous as usual, a little too fast. “Come to my office later.”
Eli sat back down after a nod and started to get nervous. “Did I flunk a class? What did I do? Did I do anything wrong? Is it a concern? Mom’s gonna kill me!” He thought.
“Arjer Kanjigar, Eli Pepperjack. Eli Pepperjack, Arjer Kanjigar.” Señor Uhl said formally.
Eli took a good look at Arjer. Is he nice? Is he going to shove me in lockers like Steve? Is he… a creeper? But that stupid grin on Arjer’s face proved otherwise.
Eli could even feel himself smiling back.
“Show Arjer around, make him feel welcome.” Señor Uhl said with a tone that set a promise.

“This is the gymnasium, this is the library, this is the courtyard, this is-“ On and on Eli went, he finally met someone who wasn’t rude to him or shoved him in lockers!
“This human school looks promising. Where is the cafeteria? What kind of food do they cook here?” Arjer finally spoke. His voice was smooth like honey, but yet squeaky at his vowels.
“Oh. Well, that just varies… on what you get.” Eli said with more nervousness than before today. Maybe Arjer could be a new friend.
“Really? I must try out this human food at the lunch.” Arjer spoke rather weirdly, similar to how Krel and Aja did, but… different.
“And these are the lockers.” Eli said, then turned to Arjer to que his reaction.
“How do I know which one is mine? Is it that empty one?” He said.
Eli looked back at the locker Arjer was talking about, and looked back at him.
“Didn’t someone assign you with one?” Eli asked. What kid came here with no locker number?
“The Señor of Uhl looked rather busy, I think he forgot to.” It was true, he didn’t really bat an eye. How out of character.
“Um, okay… I guess it is yours then.” Eli replied.
“Lively!” Arjer opened the locker with no issue. Wasn’t there a combination? Did he just pick the lock? Whatever. It’s Arcadia Oaks for crying out loud.
Maybe new kids weren’t so bad.
Though Eli had this thought gnawing at him.
“Who is this and why am I suspicious?”
