Uh oh, I'm falling in love, oh no, I'm falling in love again

Summary:

Spencer wasn’t stupid, and even though he tried to forget about it, he had to admit the truth:
he was falling for someone, again. He couldn’t tell why this always happened to him, last season was really tiring for him, and it took him a lot of effort to feel better, he really didn’t want to go through that, not again, not alone.
It was all that prick’s fault…Sam’s fault.

JUST SO YOU KNOW this happens during the game after Ara's elimination, so I'll do something very simpe for the challenges and the elimination, which means that in here Spencer and Sam have more plot armor than the hole cast put together

Notes:

Guys, I feel like this fic is so cringe and stupid, especially the angst part, so please if I I misrepresent Spencer or Sam or anyone else just let me gently know.
It probably won't have more than 7 chapter, but I haven't finished writing it, so I don't know

Chapter 1: I'll be getting over you my whole life

Chapter Text

Spencer wasn’t stupid, and even though he tried to forget about it, he had to admit the truth:
he was falling for someone, again.

At first, it was small, just noticing how his shirt would lift showing a glimpse of the abdominal muscles, how strong he was in all the challenges, how easily he could lift him up if only he wanted to, the tan of his skin, the calculous smile he does when he’s got everyone fooled. Spencer thought he would gladly drown in that smile, so sinister yet so gorgeous and impossible to resist. Oh god he was so fucked.
Spencer couldn’t tell why this always happened to him, last season was really tiring for him, and it took him a lot of effort to feel better, he really didn’t want to go through that, not again, not alone.
It was all that prick’s fault…Sam’s fault.

“Hey Spency old boy?” the mathematician gave him an angry look “what? Still mad for the Ara vote?”
Oh, right, Spencer almost forgot about that. “Of course I am, it wasn’t what we agreed on”
“Correction, it wasn’t what you agreed on, you didn’t even talk to me, you just decided, so if you really want to do this – alleys – thing, dear Spencer, I advise you to actually include me” then Sam smirked, that damn smirk, it was driving him crazy.

“Ok, fine, you win, but you better don't throw a scene like that again, we both know right now we’re our only hope to survive this game, you need me” Spencer needed him, he needed him so bad he thought he was going to explode, he wanted his hands on him, his touch, his arms, everything.
This crush was going out of hand, it was so different from how it was with Logan or Diego, with Sam it was pure attraction, raw and rough attraction, one that couldn’t be express in any kind of equation in Spencer’s head.

So why not getting him eliminated? He has done that before, and it’s not like he would hurt his feeling, Sam doesn’t feel anything for him. Spencer thought about it, and even if he really wanted to, he couldn’t. His situation was already complicated, and he could be eliminated at any moment; Sam was the only one who, like him, needed an ally—without him, he was completely alone.
“So, what’s your plan, mastermind?” For a second he had forgotten Sam was still there.
He sighed “I have no idea, the best thing we can do is alimenting the fire between Rosa and Natalia”
The fan nodded “yeah, I guess you’re right, is there someone we can try to get on our side?”
“Maybe Rosa would be a good fit, but I’m still not sure. From the fans?”
“Well, Nura is short of alleys, but I doubt she’d want to form an alliance with me”
“Why did you even voted out Dunia…”, to that, the fan started pouting “it was the right thing to do!”, “was it?” “Forget it, I don’t even know why I’m talking to you” and Sam stormed off, leaving Spencer alone sat on a cut trunk of a tree.

Maybe he was a bit too harsh, but still, it was the truth, and Sam was ten thousand times cuter when he took that – good guy – mask off.
It was in times like this that Spencer missed having an actual friend in the game, voting out Bruno turned out to not be the best decision after all.
He had no idea on what to do; he couldn’t eliminate Sam, but this crush was messing with his head and now he was risking all he had worked for! He had to forget these feelings and find a way to actually win this game.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sam hated it. He hated how Spencer could always understand him without even trying to.
The guy read him like he was an open book which is the last thing he wants. He always managed to get under his skin, pushing all his buttons with that grin of his on his pretty face that he really wanted to punch.
He was certain that voting out Dunia was the best decision, but it wasn’t the only reason; Dunia was the only one who managed to get him to let his guard down and he just couldn’t have that.
Since the day they were officially merged he began thinking of ways he could annoy Spencer, the problem was that he didn’t know him well enough to come up with something himself and, even if it was far more entertaining, he couldn’t keep voting however he wanted, not if he wanted to keep this alliance, and he didn’t watch Spencer’s season, so he was completely unable to think of anything on his own.

He needed someone who had already played with Spencer and someone who would hate him enough to tell him what to do, someone like…
“Natalia, girl, can we chat for a moment?”
“Dude, I’m not doing any alliance with you although less Spencer, got it?”
“Hey, hey, relax, I’m not here for any of that. Spencer has been being…how can I put it…a pain in the ass and I want to embarrass him, but without seeing your season…let’s say my ideas are cut short” that seemed to catch Natalia’s attention.
“A way to embarrass Spencer, hah, oh, I’ve got just the right thing!” then she whispered something into Sam’s ear.
After hearing what Natalia said, Sam felt confused.
“How is that going to annoy him?”
“Oh, trust me babe, it will”.

Although sceptical, he decided to trust the girl, it’s not like he’d something to lose if it didn’t work, it was just a joke, besides, Spencer deserved a little lesson after all the stuff he put him through; that guy would always find a way to annoy him, his sole presence was enough.
He was entertaining though.
Sam tried to push the thought out of his mind but he just couldn’t; It’s not like it was a lie, even if insufferable, Spencer had his advantages: he was funny, smart, really smart, he knew how to play this game and, at times, and only at times, Sam almost thought he was…pretty, in a way.
Rethinking about it, maybe it wasn’t the best decision to storm off after the mathematician irritated him, they really needed to talk about their strategy, they both were on a knife's edge, his best shot was to win immunity obviously. But now he had to find that egotistical little boy.
Sam was walking through the forest, when he spotted the raven-haired boy, he tried to get closer, but Spencer just looked at him weird and went away. Was he ignoring him? Really? Over that…talk about an overreaction.

After that he tried looking in other places, but it was like the mathematician had vanished, he even tried asking Rosa, but she didn't know a thing

Sam had looked for him for exactly five minutes before deciding that the guy wasn’t worth the hassle; instead, he went to the beach; to his surprise no one was there and he smiled at the thought of a refreshing swim in peace.
Sam got into the sea, and he relaxed at the contact with the water; if he had to choose his favourite place, the beach would be his answer, he hasn’t been there in quite some time, since the departure of his husband. They used to do everything together, every hangout, every smile, every moment of joy that he could remember had him at the centre.
It’s been three years since his lover’s death, that was the whole reason for him to join the show in the first place, he needed an exit, a distraction, and he finally got one.
It was strange, but whenever he fought with Spencer, he seemed to forget all his misery, maybe that’s why he liked annoying him so much. How ironic.
