I love the idea of Annie being to mortified by the sight or idea of BOB!Cooper to even keep him around. Personally I can’t stand her in the series and her character both feels underdeveloped and incongruent to Cooper, so anything that ends without them being together will always instantly be a win to me. That being said, I’m not against her being fleshed out a bit more, which I feel this fic totally does. Not to mention it is through the ash tinged glasses of an Albert Rosenfield, so she is still not painted as some angelic missing piece that fits perfectly with Cooper.
I am left wondering if the implications of this fic are that Cooper is unaware of his late night dalliances with Albert? Especially because it seems like Albert is kind of getting the Laura Palmer, Fire Walk With Me treatment. He only creeps in at night and it seems to be BOB!Cooper who initiates the horizontal tango.
It resolves the inhabiting of Coopers body without being a Lodge dodge, but I feel it could have gone crazier on the Whump. Like Bob was in there but he was keeping things really well under wraps. The scene in the underground murder den definitely painted the uneasy feeling that Bob does but it could have gotten crazier from there. Have Albert finding Cooper at gruesome crime scenes before they’ve been called in. Sure he didn’t commit the crime, as Albert would dutifully ensure, but it’s almost like Cooper is drawn to the carnage.
Tagged as Kill the Cutie as that is ultimately the only way of ridding the inhabiting spirit. While he doesn’t actually die it was a close thing (could have been closer, honestly had expected more aftercare and angst).
