Chapter Text
The room felt bigger than Arthur remembered. He looked around his room and saw the large family portrait of his mother and father. His eyes lingered on the crown above his father’s head. He wondered if he was truly cut out for this. If he could protect the crown the way his father had. Horrible memories of the war flooded his mind until a knock came from outside his bedroom door.
“Your Majesty?” a voice called from the other side of the door.
"It is almost time.”
Arthur took one last look at the portrait before standing. He slowly walked to the door and opened it.
Elara stood on the other side, already waiting for him.
“Finally,” she said, raising an eyebrow. “I was beginning to think you fell asleep in there.”
Arthur gave her a tired look.
“Ha ha, very funny,” Arthur said sarcastically.
Elara smiled before glancing at Arthur’s shaking hands. She looked back at him.
“It’s gonna be okay.”
He took a big breath before sighing.
“I know."
