Summary
Shadow knew that the way he felt about food was unhealthy.
He understood that it wasn’t normal to stare down at a perfectly good plate of food and hold back a panic attack, or tears, or whatever other unreasonable reaction his mind had when he should have been eating. His heart wasn’t supposed to race when Rouge mentioned that it was nearing dinner; his chest wasn’t supposed to feel tight when Sonic asked him if he was hungry after a race.
Shadow hated food. He hated how long it took him to figure out which foods were safe at any given time, and the energy it took to chew, and the texture of mushed food in his mouth, sliding down his throat.

Shadow struggles with everything relating to food, something he refuses to tell the very few people he cares about. But when a certain blue annoyance discovers his secret anyway, he needs to make a decision: let his friends help, or get better at hiding?

Summary
Shadow let out a quiet, pained groan when he awoke, immediately aware of the throbbing headache that pulsed behind his eyes, and the light ache in his right arm, feeling as if he’d fallen and landed on it. He was lying on something soft and damp, emitting a musty smell that made his nose wrinkle. A consistent humming sound came from above him, just barely loud enough to stay a constant presence, not fading into the background. The sound of it brought a sense of anxiety, and this was what finally got Shadow to open his eyes.
His first attempt to open his eyes made him wince, blinded by fluorescent lights that shone with just a hint of sickly yellow. He steeled himself and tried again, cracking his eyes open as slow as he could, letting them adjust to the overhead lights.
The sight he was greeted with left him baffled.

Shadow wakes up in an unfamiliar, seemingly abandoned building, surrounded by blank yellow walls. He has no memory of entering, and no idea how to escape. It only gets worse once he finds his rival, just as trapped and clueless as he is.
