Summary
Peter's relationship with his dad was still new. He'd really only known him a few months, and had only started spending time with him ten weeks ago. It had been great, so far. But his dad was Tony Stark, and Peter wasn't an idiot. Tony Stark had so many more important things to do than tinker in the lab with Peter. Any day Tony could decide he no longer had time, and drop Peter like a hot potato.
Then the decathlon team pressured him into calling Tony up to ask for a change in their unofficial visitation schedule, and everything felt like it went off the rails.
Not in a bad way, though. Peter just hadn't been expecting to hear I love you come from Tony Stark's mouth.
