And Then There Was Two. // So'tey

Summary:

(In this AU Tamtey is Trr'ong taken by the RDA as a early test to see if they could teach someone from a non-diplomatic clan which mean she grew up in the TAP facilitys with the Sarentu and was in cryro when her clan was wiped out.)

So'lek always thought he was the sole survivor of the Trr'ong clan. They all were lost in the battle of Ayrum Alusing, but that day the RDA came back after being chased off Pandora brought Alma Cortez, So'lek and the resistance to one of Alma's old projects when she was with the RDA as a teacher for the "TAP" program. He heard her say that there was four Sarentu in cryro chambers in a old school and the RDA was returning- more specifically John Mercer, to look for any remains of TAP. So'lek went because he knew how it felt to be the last of a clan and he didn't want the entire Sarentu race completely gone before he got a chance to free them. What he never expected was that one of them wasn't Sarentu at all...

Now So'lek knows there's hope being reunited with a childhood friend of his and won't let anything hurt Tamtey no matter what he has to face to protect them.

Notes:

I'm not quite settled if I want Tamtey to be represented as female, male, or non-binary sooo currently I'm going with female but if anyone really doesnt vibe with me lemme know if I should make it gender neutral. Also another Reminder if you didn't read the summary that Tamtey in the AU is not Sarentu shes Trr'ong like So'lek just so it makes sense.

Chapter 1: Tamtey.

Chapter Text

The Sarentu had it hard their whole life, having few memories of home- of culture, of family. But could they ever have it harder than Tamtey?

The Trr’ong was a lost clan like the Sarentu, Tamtey never knew that. She grew up thinking that maybe one day she’d be freed and sent back to her home and people and Eywa was she ever wrong.

She was around the same age as Nor the oldest sarentu at only 6 and had all but forgotten the few memories she had with her old people when she was brought in. But she did remember that dreadful day she was ripped from her home with false hands.

Her father Wawen a mentor and warrior had gone hunting and she wished to help, clumsily following after them as they travelled into the forests of Pandora. A rustle caught her attention, Tamtey's keen ears flicking and her head turning, a beautiful Atokirina drifted lazily with small pulses past her face.

Childish curiosity pulled her towards the wispy creature giggling softly stumbling over roots and branches trying to keep up as it leisurely floated away. It flew higher and higher until she lost sight.

When her curiosity and excitement faded she turned back around to continue her journey with her parents. But Tamtey’s young heart sank when she found herself alone in the large forests of Pandora, and suddenly all the beauty and bioluminescence of the Na’ring woods she grew up in became terrifying.

Every sound of distant Nantang cries that sounded like mocking laughs and loud yerik chittering sent shivers down her spine and made her tail curl against her leg like a child- well then again she was a child.

Wandering more fear pried at her and tears welled up in her eyes.

“Sempul?” She cried out almost too afraid to talk any louder and attract some predator the elders had told stories about around fires late making Trr’ong younglings gasp in fear.

“Sempul!” She shouted louder, her shoulders curling in. Tamtey sniffed the air softly trying to find a trace smell of her fathers familiar scent. But the only smell was of something she wasn't familiar with yet, it smelt vile like too much blood… It wasn’t right.

“Sempul!!!” Tears ran down her cheeks and she covered her ears with her hands, everything feeling much too loud.

A shuffle, quite. Tamtey almost didn’t hear it, she sniffled and pulled her hands away from her ears and wiped her eyes wet, slicking her knuckles. A rustle made her head snap to the left, a stick breaking. Was it her father?

Excitement filled her and she walked towards the sound. “Sempul?” Tamtey called out gently. But what greeted her was not her father.

A woman stepped out and she was a tall Na’vi… but for an odd reason she didn’t seem Na’vi. She wore strange clothes with writings on it she didn’t understand. The strange woman’s hands raised in defense and Tamtey’s eyes moved to them.

Her hands were different. Not like hers… she had an extra finger…? Odd, she had heard whispers of older warriors talking of a new clan who came from the sky living on Pandora now. But it didn’t seem real until she now stood in front of one.

“Hello little one…” The strange woman said softly. Tamtey registered her words as soft but what came out of her mouth was nonsense, something she didn’t quite understand.

“Ugh… okay no English it seems. Kaltxì ma’tstxo Alma.” The first part made no sense to young Tamtey but that last bit she understood. ‘My name is Alma’.

This 'Alma's' name didn’t sound Na’vi… then again this woman didn't seem fully Na’vi. She walked forward and crouched in front of this little Na’vi girl and rested a large hand on her shoulder.

Tamtey sniffled and looked at her confused, rubbing her eye. “Tsenga ma’sempul?” Tamtey said as Alma slowly picked up the small child, a frown formed on the woman's face.

“You’ll understand one day… this is for the greater good” The words were gibberish to Tamtey but all she could do was hope it meant something good. The tall woman carried Tamtey deeper into the woods until a clearing opened up. The smell was getting stronger and she now realized it was the smell of iron, metal. Some big shiny box came into view. Alma moved closer and Tamtey curiously looked around in Alma’s arms before they climbed into the metal box.

There was a loud voice and the heavy thrumming of something loud above them, it made Tamtey cover her ears. Wind rushed past her face and somehow the metal box lifted from the ground as Alma held her tight. Tamtey watched the ground slowly disappear.

Was this a big metal Ikran? The Na’ring forest continued to grow distant until her view was taken by the fog, only a few tall trees peaking over the clouds.

Well uh that's the first chapter its kind of short but if this actually gets traction and I don't end up orphaning it the next chapter will probably be like 800-1000 words. Uhh now I'm just writing BS anyway pls lemme know if we prefer a certain gender for Tamtey or if this fic is even any good. (^*^)
